Spring Roll with Char-grilled Pork and Vermicelli (2 pcs)
    Gin Y.

My family suggested trying this spot out for UberEats since there's a discount if food was ordered between 2-5 pm. We ordered the following items: - Broken Rice with Pork Chop, Baked Egg, Pork Skin, Egg - Vermicelli Char-grilled Pork with Egg Rolls - 1lb of Char-grilled Pork (Meat Only) - Spring Roll with Char-grilled Pork Anything with chargrilled pork was delicious. I did enjoy my vermicelli dish and appreciated the portion size. I was full and satisfied. The spring roll was good too, but the peanut sauce was surprisingly salty. The best deal was the 1 lb of chargrilled pork. Delicious and generous portions. If you have a decent amount of people to feed, this is a great option, as you only need to cook rice or have banh mi bread ready. You can either make a rice dish (with kimchi as a side dish) or banh mi (with pickled veggies/jalapenos). The only dish that was just ok was the broken rice dish. The only components of the dish that were tasty were the pork chop and the fried egg. The others were just ok. Overall, this spot is pretty good and I would definitely recommend their vermicelli dish and their 1 lb chargrilled pork (for easy family dinner night).

Usually I don't review local restaurants since they're already well loved in the community but this restaurant is such an OG. My FAV Vietnamese noodle soup. I remember when they had their old restaurant that was a lot smaller. Service is always friendly even for those who can't speak Vietnamese well or at all. I love their decor around the restaurant, it gives you that nostalgia of Vietnam. You must order their flan!! It's a simple, flan with a shot of espresso and shaved ice.

This is my second time here and it always slaps! The waiter that helped us was very nice. The food has always been consistent and tastes great! Definitely a staple of you're ever in Bellaire.

As a noodle and soup connoisseur I go to this restaurant every single time I'm in Houston. This is a rare Vietnamese dish that not every restaurant will offer so I enjoy that this place specializes it! My sister gets their dry dishes such as rice and stir fry and she loves it very much. The ambiance is a regular causal Asian place and the service here is prompt and quick right when you walk in.

Com chien bo luc lac - Sizzling beef w/fried rice
    Lanha T.

{To go order review} Despite the restaurant being named for duck noodle soup, the bo luc lac is pretty legit. The meat is tender with tons of flavor. The fried egg was cooked a little between over easy and over medium with a slightly runny yolk. The fried rice is basic with egg only but was equally as good of a component to the dish as was the beef. Good portion...good food.

We heard great things about their duc and Bun Mang Vit Thanh Da definitely delivered! The duc soup combo with duck salad is quite generous and the duc was tender and flavorful as expected. The salad was refreshing and savory with great texture from the fried garlic and peanuts and a great sauce on top. The soup made from the duck broth with bamboo shoots was cozy and comforting. Not a glamorous meal, but a delicious one that's perfect for a rainy or cold day.

Huge portions at low prices! A popular place according to local Viets. Authentic flavors. Make sure you try their signature duck salad and noodles in their bamboo broth. For two main dishes, total came out to $30 after tax and tip which is hard to come by these days.

let's see: clean interior, quite spacious. food comes out quick. ordered the duck soup and a seafood salad. eating the duck soup is something i crave every once in a while - it's very wholesome, it's not a soup with overpowering broth or anything like that. the salad is great - refreshing. when i'm in the mood for this soup i'll definitely come back

I have eaten here many times in the past. Today I was introducing my friend to this restaurant where we had dinner together. I always like their steamed duck meat salad and their noodle soup. It is a nice restaurant that has an interior farmhouse inside. The owner is always so nice and friendly. The waiter is very helpful. If you would like to try some duck meat noodle soup, then I would highly recommend this restaurant to you.

Came here with a big party on a Saturday afternoon and I can't say that I'd come back. Food... I liked the duck salad. They give generous portions at a very decent price. However, the minute I walked in the whole restaurant smelled like a restroom. It was also clear that it was understaffed so service was slow and inattentive.

I ordered chao ga (chicken porridge) and bun mang vit (noodle soup with bamboo and duck) they were good. I will come back next time to try new foods here.

I'm no expert on Vietnamese food, but this restaurant serves pretty good food. First, the restaurant smelled really bad like fish sauce and cigarette smoke. Eventually it grew on me. Second, the servers were so fast. As soon as they took my order, I started getting condiments like fish sauce and spicy sauces. Everything, including the food, came out all at once and so fast that I didn't know where to start first. The egg rolls and grilled pork spring rolls were pretty good. When we asked for more mint leaves, they obliged. The special bun mang vit hay was pretty good. The soup was delicious. It had some liver and bamboo shoots too. The other plate came with some shredded cabbage and all sorts of duck parts. I don't know what I ate, but tbh I only really enjoyed the dark meats. They had restrooms in the back. After I finished eating, I had to get up to pay at the register. They're located in the corner of the strip mall, but they have plenty of parking here.

Although there are more than duck soup and duck noodle soup, the name gave you the hint what this place is famous for. Thanh Đa is the town outside of Saigon known for its condo complexes and duck specialty eateries. The home made ginger flavor chilly dippingcm sauce is the secret. A bowl of duck noodle soup comes with a plate of duck salad finely chopped and served. I must warn you that the portion is huge. I couldn't finish the large order. I loved the sugarcane juice (nước mía) and the penny leave and mung bean juice (rau má đậu xanh) as well. Prompt and friendly services.

The filling is placed in a pan and then a thin layer of batter made with tumeric and coconut milk yellow batter is poured on top. You wrap the lettuce around the bánh xèo/bánh khọt and dip it in the fish sauce. I got the bánh khọt and the bò né. Bánh khọt is like a mini, thicker version of bánh xèo and came with nine pieces. Their bánh khọt was crispy, sweet and savory, and went well with the fish sauce. Although the portions initally look small, they are very filling. The bò né was filling and sizzling when it came out. It also came with a side of salad. The meat was tender. I really liked the bánh khọt and would definitely come back for them. I couldn't have been more wrong. Xeo Yum (#1) as it turns out is one of the most legit Vietnamese places in Midtown serving up some of the city's best banh xeo and banh khot. Located inside of a Food Hall (#2) in the back corner, they have low-key become a destination and without question, the most popular stall in the entire place. The fan base didn't happen overnight but is a direct result of Chef Cuong Nguyen's commitment to quality Vietnamese fare. Banh Xeo is their signature item, which is also known as a sizzling crepe or pancake made of rice flour, tumeric, and coconut milk. The banh xeo holds well, is perfectly crispy, and is nicely stuffed with an assortment of beans sprouts, shrimp, and some of the best grilled pork belly I've had. Another specialty item that doesn't get enough mention is their banh khot, which is similar but has a mini muffin / cupcake like appearance made in a specialty cast iron mold. This version is wonderfully crispy and pairs perfectly with fresh greens and fish sauce with some funk. It is my favorite item here. Some have argued they also serve one of the best bo ne (#3), the Vietnamese version of steak and eggs served in a skillet. The chunks of beef are nice and tender with just a tad of char, served with two fried eggs, and a banh mi baguette with a mix of butter and spare. Normally I think of spam or sausage included with the meats, but Chef Cuong's spin is with cherry tomatoes. It's a different approach and I'm not mad at it. Folks not looking for this can shoot for bo luc lac, aka shaking beef, which is also recommended. The staff here is sweet, hard-working, and very friendly. They also make a mean Vietnamese coffee and offer free iced self-serve water. The prices are what I would expect in a Midtown food hall, and there's plenty of seating. Anyone checking out the food hall need to make Xeo Yum as part of their eating itinerary. __________ (#1) A play on the Vietnamese sizzling crepe, Banh "xeo" and yum" (#2) Previously the Conservatory and now Stestí Food Hall. When I arrived there was nobody dining in the restaurant, that was a bit worrying, but I figured it was a bit early for the dinner crowd and late for the lunch crowd. Food & Drink - 4.5* First up was the noodles, I enjoyed them, but I wouldn't say the hype I'd heard about from some others was there. They had nice flavor, but there just wasn't anything "special." 3.5* Then it was on to the crawfish, and my oh my. Superb, the flavor is delicious and unique. This more than made up for the noodles dish. The potato and corn was good too. Service - 5* Solid. When I first arrived the owner was quietly reading a newspaper and eating his own lunch. He paused to greet me and advised that I could sit anywhere. He provided water and adequate time to determine what I wanted to order. The food came out quickly and he checked in a few times to make sure everything was ok. As time went by, the crowd of folks showing up increased quite a bit and he still managed to check in on tables consistently. Pricing - 4* This is where it was odd. Always subjective but I found the noodles to be overpriced for not only the size but what I felt was a pretty simple dish. The crawfish on the other hand was priced very competitively and made up for the overpriced noodles. I provided pics of the menu for someone to make their own assessment but in general I thought many of the dishes were pricier than they probably should be. I know inflation is certainly killing many businesses and consumers but even these felt a bit off. Overall - 4.5* This is definitely going to be one of my go tos for crawfish when in the area. The flavor is fantastic, the pricing is good, the size of them were solid. There are a couple of other dishes I may try on the next visit. The restaurant is clean, the owner is very nice, and it's a nice low key space to just enjoy a good meal with friends or family.

Upon arriving, every table was taken except our table w a reserved sign on it. The restaurant was bustling, but I could still hear my husband over the music and noise. The menu is huge!!! I didn't know where to start. But our server, Vanessa, helped us make a few choices. We started off w bánh xèo tostadas, bánh béo, & carpaccio. Then we had calamari and their steak special. I asked for a side of papaya slaw for some veggies. My favorite dish of the night was the carpaccio. So many flavors perfectly melded together. Loved the crunch of the fried onions and peanuts. 10/10 dish, in my opinion. Authentic banh xèo usually has an airier, crisp crepe, but theirs was more crunchy - great for their tostada take. Very flavorful. Each piece had one shrimp, but plenty of pork belly bites. The nuoc mam drizzled on it was tasty. Fried calamari - this is a big dish for, I believe, $'19. I prefer the dipping sauce on the side so that the batter doesn't get soggy. This did happen here, but it didn't stop us from finishing every last bite. The green sauce was good, not the usual dipping sauce for fried calamari. Steak special - they have another steak dish on their menu, but this one was pepper crusted w smashed potatoes. The potatoes were super crispy and flavorful and the steak was perfectly cooked - a beautiful pink medium rare. The portion was huge and justified the $39 price point. The staple steak dish came with a papaya slaw and I had to have it. It was bright and limey - I can see why they serve it with their steak. Bánh beo - my least favorite of the night. A bit thicker than I like. Still good, but there were a lot of other great dishes that I could easily pass on this one. Try their hibiscus artichoke tea.

We got there 15 minutes before to make sure we could find parking. They have a small lot but all the spaces were taken despite being before 6 pm on a weekday. And a few spots had noticeable broken glass so be careful. We fortunately found street parking close by; double checked the signs because I ain't getting towed for nothing. Then I double checked inside with staff to make sure where I parked was ok. On to the food: we got several happy hour appetizer items: soy garlic wings, Brussels sprouts, bao bun, roasted oysters. All was good but not amazing. I then ordered the pho tai chinh for myself - I was quite impressed with the portions and the price! Wifey got the lemongrass pork banh mi - good but not amazing. Overall I would say the food taste and portions were good, but note this is elevated Asian cuisine, so it'll run you $20-$30 minimum. Now the service - definitely super friendly staff. It was our first time there so maybe they brought out the extra friendliness. Even the chef came out and greeted us to make sure we liked the food. Waitress was very kind and checked on our table a LOT. Almost too much. Overall a good experience, yummy food, not a fan of the parking (a common problem in the Heights), and expensive for Asian food but that's expected. Enjoy!

My friends ordered the filet mignon and the chicken and they were equally as impressed! I ordered the espresso mousse for dessert which comes out in the shape of a coffee bean. Cuteeee and perfect! This place didn't disappoint and it is a must visit.

This is a higher end fine dining restaurant so you should expect the portion sizes and price to be pretty comparable to a lot of other finer dining restaurants. Overall the food's flavor was fantastic. I ordered the king salmon clay pot. I thought the salmon was so tasty! They added pepper and sauce to the salmon - It was tender and flavorful and paired nicely with white rice. The quail (not pictured below) also was super flavorful and was cooked so well it tasted like beef. The soup was also light and refreshing, similar to a west lake soup. It was thicker consistency and had cilantro and chucks of lobster. The drinks served were also super balanced. We ordered the mojito and the dragon fruit cocktail. The mojito was the right balance between minty and sweet with just a hint of alcohol flavor. For the dragon fruit cocktail, it was very fruity, on the sweeter side but not overpowering and was topped with egg whites to give it a little bit of frothiness. I will say, we are slightly underdressed to enter this establishment. Everything seemed so luxurious and many people were in formal business wear! Keep this in mind if you go! There is a parking deck right next to the location as well, both self parking and valet!
