Love Vietnamese restaurants that specialize in hard to find dishes such as bun mang. The noodle soup itself is very clean, simple, and comforting. It doesn't have too much of a pungent aroma as I'd usually expect from bamboo. The duck salad is light, refreshing, and plated nicely. The duck was cut in an easy to eat manner which I always appreciate. The ginger fish sauce on the side was delicious. I would've liked more banana flower in the salad personally. What an insane find! In a sea of incredible Vietnamese food this restaurant stands out. This restaurant sees a lot of people and on a random Wednesday night. We were being able to be sat quickly. We got our food super quickly and it was incredible. It had the best shaking beef I've ever had. It was so tender and flavorful. The duck salad was also very tasty. Second, the servers were so fast. As soon as they took my order, I started getting condiments like fish sauce and spicy sauces. For the amount of food we got, the price is very low. We even have leftovers! We get this huge plate of cut up ducks on top of raw cabbage with some light fish sauce. In your bowl soup there are noodles and bamboo. You can either add all the duck cabbage into your soup bowl or just eat it separately. There's really not a right or wrong way to eat it. They speak both Vietnamese and English but the person who served me didn't speak English too well so I pointed at what I wanted and he got the gist. I wasn't offered any water refill nor napkins and he didn't come by and check on me at all so the service wasn't the best. This is a little vietnamese noodle and rice joint tucked in the corner off of Bellaire. Came in with a party of 6 on a friday night and we were seated right away. I ordered their specialty which is a dish with soup and noodle and duck salad. The soup was a super tasty chicken based broth. It was nice and clear and felt so light. The dish gives you an option of two types of noodle: vermicelli (the traditional option) and the clear noodles (a bit chewier). I went with vermicelli and the noodles didn't disappoint. The bowl of broth and noodles also come with bamboo shoots. I can't say that bamboo shoots are my favorite but I enjoyed them nonetheless. This dish comes with a duck salad on a side plate. Slices of duck are layered on top of a cabbage salad that has been tossed with fish sauce. There are also shavings of plantains for a little extra flavor. The duck was tender and pairs quite well with the cabbage. Our table ordered the beef jerky and papaya salad as an appetizer. The papaya was really bitter and the beef jerky too spicy for my tastes.
