    Vada Pav

Hidden gem! Passed by this so many times not realising they have VADA PAV! Excellent taste. I also got their Puff and ended up ordering another one while there because it was extra-ordinary! Service can be slow when they are busy but wouldn't mind waiting for such good food.

Delicious food and mango lassi! What a great stop for Indian food on the go. Open late as well.

Decent but nowhere close to Mumbai vada pav in taste. Worth going once but I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

The food was amazing--especially the vada pav, dabeli, puff, and tava pulao. Everything was delicious, and the service was great.

The Vada Pav and Dabeli are easily the best I have had in the country, the flavors are spot on and totally consistent every single time.

The thali was presented in a wonderfully traditional manner, which immediately set the tone for the experience. There were 16 different items, and everything tasted authentic and thoughtfully prepared. The stars of the meal for me were the Bajri Raab and the Ghewar--both absolutely outstanding. The service was courteous, and we thoroughly enjoyed the overall experience. A couple of suggestions for improvement: when the thali is served, it would be helpful if the person presenting it could briefly explain each dish and perhaps suggest how certain items are traditionally paired or eaten. That would make the experience even more immersive, especially for those unfamiliar with Rajasthani cuisine. Also, the plate felt a bit small for the number of ramekins. There was very little room left for the rice, and the chutney and pickle kept sliding underneath the ramekins, making things a bit messy. A slightly larger plate would make the meal much more comfortable to enjoy. Finally, please continue hosting thali festivals featuring cuisines from different regions of India. That's a fantastic concept, and we'd love to return for more regional culinary experiences.

Service was a bit hit and miss and hence 3 stars not 4. We ordered nadru, panj puri and Rajma kebabs as starters. Nadru was good but others were okay. For main course we ordered lababdar paneer and jackfruit curry. Paneer was good, jackfruit was okay. Service was spotty, one of the glasses leaked water on our table but nobody came to wipe it off. Our bread order came out in parts. 1 person was eating first while others were waiting for bread to come out. Overall, okay place if you are in the area and want to try some Indian food.

Unbelievably tender chicken breast, served with perfectly seasoned rice and a mini dipping curry. Incredible value. * Chicken Tikka Masala & Garlic Naan: Reliable and good as always. The Misses: * Paneer Saag: Huge letdown--completely flavorless and very underseasoned. * Mumbai Mule: Tasted like a mocktail with almost zero alcohol flavor. Spice Note: Ordered "Hot" for both curries, but didn't get much heat at all--feel free to order a level up if you like spice!

I have been to Kanishka several times over the last few years, and I've been pretty disappointed by…read morethe repeated instances of poor service. The food is usually delicious, and the service is usually fine, but there always seems to be something that throws off our dining experience here. For example, we dined in last Sunday for dinner, and were promptly seated. We ordered the garlic naan to share, and our vegetarian friend ordered the Paneer Makhni. However, when the dish arrived, she took a bite and discovered that there were chicken pieces inside, and when we alerted the server, we didn't even receive an apology. They took away her plate, which had some rice and garlic naan, and gave her a new plate with a new order of the Paneer Makhni, and did not replace the rice and garlic naan that was lost due to their mistake. I feel that giving a vegetarian or vegan person a dish with meat is a huge mistake, and I was very disappointed by the lack of an apology and the lack of an effort to make things right. On the happy side, the garlic naan was tasty, and I personally ordered a chicken kabob dish that was covered in sauce, which was phenomenal. Another example is that for 3 or 4 visits, we interacted with the same server. He always greeted us with "ni hao" even though we are not Chinese. Even worse, on multiple occasions, after we paid for the food with credit card, he would make up some lie about how the card reader was broken for the tip portion, and he would ask for a cash tip that he pocketed. We've never had this issue with any other server, and I've even seen this guy tell other groups the same lie about the card reader not working for the tip portion, even though it worked fine for the main payment. In summary, although Kanishka seems to have some food quality control issues, the food is delicious, and the service can be a wide range from very poor to good.

The food was absolutely incredible. I got a mango lassi and a paneer tikki masala dosa. The mango lassi was sweet, creamy, and had a subtle spice flavor. The dosa was a real showstopper. It came out quick and incredibly crispy, filled with tender chunks of paneer. The tikki masala flavor was perfect with the crispy lentil crepe, especially when dipped in the various chutneys. I'm unsure of what the chutneys/sauces are called, but they were so delicious. The cherry on top was meeting Pradish. He was the cashier and server while I was there and one of the friendliest people I've ever met. You can tell there's a lot of pride and love that goes into this restaurant and I'm definitely coming back when I'm in the area. Amazing food and even better people!!!
