The cod fritters were good! Just an unexpectedly small amount for the price--I think $6 for three really small fritters. The fries were mid. It makes sense for a restaurant so close to El Yunque to have higher prices, but the small appetizer portions were crazy!
We stopped in for a quick bite to eat after leaving El Yunque Rainforest. This restaurant is on your left hand side on the side of the road. Abnidr was our server and bartender he was so pleasant and attentive. The menu while quite small has good options. I had rice, beans, fried pork chop bites with alcapurrias (not your traditional Puerto Rican style) and a passion fruit margarita. We sat outside to enjoy the breeze but the inside space is decorated very nice. I loved the tree concept with the leaf branches wallpaper extending to the ceiling. They do play music inside as well. The prices were reasonable. I do wish they would of had deserts on the menu
We were driving around looking for a good spot to eat at and the spot we agreed on wasnt where it said it was at so we just pulled up the map and looked on yelp to see whats around. We ended up finding this hidden gem just past the zip line entrance. It's in there down a small street by itself. The place has ample room and the ambience is nice. We were the only ones there but understandable because They're in a secluded area that you don't just run into. All the food was delicious and even their sauces. One thing I didn't think was fair was charging 50 cents for each little salsa portion cup and it added up quickly because they give those tiny portions for the big portion plates. You can order a main meal with your choice of a side. Some of the items we ordered: Chuleta Can Can with yuca frita ( This chuleta has chicharron on the edges and is big enough to feed two peeps) A burger that the patty was a good thick size full of flavor. Mofongo with shrimp with Garlic sauce Arroz con gandules All the food was on point bursting with flavor and a nice size portion. Be prepared to have a high bill but all was worth it. You will definitely leave overstuffed. lol The service was great and the server/host spoke english and Spanish. Definitely recommend.
We stopped here after visiting El Yunque. We wanted a drink and some real food before we headed back to San Juan. The interior is nicely decorated and updated. However, there's no AC. There's a large wraparound covered patio with fans, which is where we sat and had a nice breeze. The staff were welcoming and attentive. We ordered beers (local ones which are great). The kids ordered juices. We ordered beef and chicken empanadas, the fried coconut bread (which tasted like a funnel cake), mozzarella sticks and the shrimp entree. The empanadas were flavorful, and the shrimp was amazing (especially if you love garlic and lemon). It's a great stop when you're visiting El Yunque!
Dont let the bad reviews deter you from this place. We stopped by after our El Yunque hike and it was slow and even though our waitress was by herself and also acting as a hostess, I felt like the wait wasn't so bad. We were in and out. We did not want a full on meal so we ordered a bunch of appetizers to share for a little pick me up for 3 people. People complained about price but I think the price was terrible. People are forgetting they're in U.S. territory, prices are not going to be like South America. Puerto Rico is alsooo an island! Everything is imported, everything costs more. Anyways our order and 3 sprites: $65 Mini Arepas de Coco (1) Mini Alcapurrias de Carne (2) Mini Rellenos de Amarillos con Carne (1) Mini Crema de Plátano (creamy plantain soup) (2) I guess my one complaint was that while these were appetizers, I felt the appetizers could have fit more meat in it.
We stopped here for lunch after a good hike at El Yunque. The interior is pretty cool. They have floor to ceiling fake tree smack in the middle with the leaves painted on the ceiling. They also have some plants painted on the walls and green Christmas lights dangling from the some areas. They also ah e outdoor seating and a large parking area. We started off with the rellenos de papa de carne (fried potato balls stuffed with beef) and the queso frito con aioli de guayaba (fried local cheese with guava aioli). Both were good. The rellenos de papa were good sized. You get three per order. Our son hesitated to try it but once he did he liked it. For the main course our son had the cheeseburger and fries. My wife got the mofongo stuffed with carne frita and I opted for the Asopao de gandules (rice and pigeon pea soup). The Asopao was good. It was hot, tasty, and a good filling portion. I added some hot sauce. It's great dish to get on a rainy day, as well as the sancocho. It wasn't raining but it hit the spot. My wife's mofongo was also tasty. We walked out of there satisfied. This is a good dining option when you're in the area.
The food was absolutely amazing here! We came here due to a recommendation from a friend... and it did not disappoint. The service was fantastic and they have the best salsa I've ever eaten in my life... and that is saying a lot because I love salsa (local "hot sauce")! We will definitely be coming back.....
Very lowkey spot. Food was really great and the service is A1. Check it out if you visit the rain forest.

El Yunque Treehouse is conveniently located on the same street that leads to the El Yunque Rainforest & I'm glad we got to eat here! We ordered 3 types of mofongo and they were all delicious. Treehouse offers free WiFi, indoor & outdoor seating and a nice variety of items on the menu. I also really liked the giant tree art piece & forest mural inside of the restaurant - great option for adults & children! I definitely recommend El Yunque Treehouse. ALSO, the housemade hot sauce was amazing. Authentic Caribbean hot sauce is my absolute favorite
Excellent service and good food. Nothing spectacular but good and worth going to if you are in the area. The Mofongo is good. Mine came out a little on the cold and dry side but was ok. My wife had a skirt steak and it was really good. Cooked to a perfect medium rare and simply seasoned. Our daughters favorite part was the Parrots that are in cages around the back side of the restaurant. Stop in for a friendly and scenic lunch or dinner right at the edge of a beautiful rain Forrest.
Don't do it.... The good reviews are fake. I ordered the vegan turnovers my bf ordered the crab ones. They both had little to no filling. After eating one I let the waitress know and she took them away. She came back to ask if the vegan ones were better.... I said I just sent her back. She said no those were the crab. BF said no his had crab. She kept asking about the color of the plate. I don't know! You set them down in front of me and said these are vegan! She sent the manager, Venus Hernandez to the table. This horrible despicable person did not even acknowledge the mistake. She just said oh, I will only take that off the bill as if I was trying to not pay for the other garbage. Luckily I don't have a seafood allergy, this carelessness could actually kill someone. The fried fish was a joke the salad was tasteless and the dressing was bland. Had the nerve to charge .25 for extra dressing. Stop at the shacks.... They are better.
This place is a banger ... and I know bangers. Put it like this. If my mom cooked this good I would have never left the HOUSE. Amazing steak and yellow rice with abichula. Food was amazing after a 3hr hike at el yunque ! Service was fast! We ate outside and as a storm passed and got to enjoy good food and vibes. read more
Right after visiting El Yunque Rainforest we were hungry and while driving down we saw El Yunque Treehouse so we looked at the menu online and said sure let's give it a go. A good sized parking lot and they have indoor and outdoor seating. We were greeted by Abnier who was our server and bartender. He told us inside was extremely hot, it would be better to sit outside by the fan- which we did. We did peak on the inside and it was lit up nicely and they had a tree right in the center- which was pretty cool. Abnier was very kind and attentive. We had gotten passion fruit drinks, which were delicious! I might say the menu is extremely limited and a little different tastings from what I'm used to when I come to Puerto Rico. I got the fried cheese with guava sauce underneath it was pretty good. Overall I liked my meal, the meal I originally wanted they didn't have, so that was a bummer so I just got the appetizer as a meal instead, so I was still hungry right after the fact. But it would've been nice to sit inside and enjoy it. Would I come back here probably not. But I did enjoy my time. read more
I had amazing vegetarian mofongo that came in a decorative crock! My wife had rice and pigeon pea soup, which she said was hearty vegan, with delicious broth. My boys had shrimp and a burger which they enjoyed. We ordered yucca fries as an appetizer, and they gave us delicious homemade hot sauce. Great food. Lovely ambiance. Great for kids! read more

The food was absolutely amazing here! We came here due to a recommendation from a friend... and it did not disappoint. This is an adorable restaurant that's great to hit after visiting the park. I loved the decor of a giant tree sculpture in the restaurant, paintings on the wall, and leaf place mat. They really committed to a theme. The food was tasty although a lot of it was fried, and the chicken and rice was more rice than chicken but it still packed a lot of flavor. The flan was a nice sweet touch at the end. It's a nice stop if you're at the park. The food isn't amazing, but it was good and the ambiance was nice and it was just the perfect little spot to end the afternoon outing. read more

We stumbled into this gem when we were leaving El Yunque national forest. The food was IMPRESSIVE! Delicious overall. Service was amazing. Cesar and Jose were so awesome and polite. This place is a must to visit specially after hiking. The Mofongo de carne frita was FIRE!!!! I loved everything! read more

This is an excellent option for vegetarians and vegans to try some traditional Puerto Rican cuisine. Just outside the El Yunque National Forest, this restaurant makes you feel My family and I shared the fried cheese with guava, the mini vegan alcapurrias, creamy plantain soup and vegetable mofongo relleno. The plantain soup was very thick but my daughter loved it! Given it's thickness, it could use a little something extra in terms of acid or flavor to cut through its richness. The alcapurrias were great! Super crisp, seasoning was perfect, and the inside filling satisfying. Our waitress told us the outside batter is made from a mix of starches coming from an assortment of local root vegetables. Finally, I enjoyed the mofongo more than I had imagined I would. I thought it would be pretty flavorless, but the subtly sweeter veggies in the middle paired well with green plantain, and overall the dish was actually savor, even reminding me of south Indian Bisebele Bath when all mixed together. Overall, I was glad the restaurant provided such tasty veg versions of local fare. Great vibe close to the forest park too! read more
Right at the base of the El Yunque rainforest, this would be easy to pass, but I'm so glad I didn't. Extremely reasonably priced, I ordered the chicken empanadas and a chicken trifongo mofongo. Made of plantains, corn, and garlic, I knew that mofongo was a Puerto Rican specialty and I'm really glad I got to try it at the Treehouse. The servers were extremely receptive and kind, the only drawback was going at lunch time when it was crowded. read more

Charming restaurant on your way to or from El Yunque Rainforest. We stopped in as we were both famished from a morning of exploring. At the entrance of the restaurant, you will find a few tables for outdoor dining. Inside, you are greeted by a lovely man-made tree trunk with branches going through parts of the ceiling in the middle of the main dining room. The waiter seated us immediately. It was still very quiet when we came in. We were brought some iced tea, unsweetened but they tasted like citrusy Snapple almost. I ordered some carne frita with a side of rice. My dining partner ordered a chicken soup with vegetables and then we shared some cheese and sausage appetizer. The appetizer was really nothing special. It didn't taste like the sausage was homemade and the local cheese tasted more like tofu. Fortunately, our entrees saved the afternoon! My carne frita were crisp on the outside yet juicy on the inside and full of flavor and his soup had such fantastic taste. I ordered a coconut flan for dessert and it was good. At the end of our meal, the waiter brought over two tiny cup and saucers and placed two dehydrated looking gauzy towels, poured hot water over them and we cleaned our hands with them. Lastly, we were brought a miniature mailbox with our bill inside. When you're ready, you raise the flag and they will take your payment. It was so cute and charming! I've never seen this done elsewhere but I'm a fan. read more

We were quite hungry after our excursion in El Yunque. The place we were initially looking for was closed, but this place was nearby. So glad we ate here! The appetizers and entrees were to die for! We ate on the patio, because we were wet and did not want to sit in the AC. This is a family owned restaurant, and our server was the daughter of the owner. She was so delightful and recommended the mofongo. A few of us had been wanting to try mofongo. I decided on shrimp mofongo with garlic sauce, but the other 2 decided on trifongo. Let me tell you. This was so much better that anything I've had in the mainland! I thought I did not like mofongo until this. The garlic sauce that went with it was kicking! I could have drank that garlic sauce. One of the girls ordered roasted chicken and another ordered a Caesar salad. Both girls were quite pleased with their meals. The serving sizes are huge. Everyone had leftovers. The server told us how to reheat mofongo so it would not be hard when it's reheated. This was such a lovely outing for us! I would definitely recommend this restaurant for the delicious food, the service, and the hospitality. read more

I was very excited to try this since there was so many vegan options. Once I was seated, the waitress informed me that they were the most vegan friendly restaurants on the entire island(not sure where she got that from). We discussed that I was vegan and she listed off all the vegan options for me!! She was very informative about the menu and we started with vegan empanadas, arepas, and plantain soup. Unknowingly the only food item that arrived correct was the arepas. The empanadas were crab that I ended up having a bite of and the soup was lentil which was alright. We asked for a refund and due to the crab meat being consumed and she was very "sorry". Then she proceeded to ask if the other items were tasty. Worst service ever. Seems like they don't care since they assume we're tourists. read more

El Yunque Treehouse in Rio Grande is a great place to go for delicious and well prepared Puerto Rican food. I really like the location and atmosphere that they have created here. It is a good stop to make when visiting El Yunque National Forest. The staff here is very friendly and accommodating. Good experience. read more
