This place is BIG!!! Oh, and this is my 207th brewery visit as well. Anyway, lots of tables and surprisingly lots of pinball tables too. I walked in at about 6pm on a Friday night and it was pretty hopping. Hopping. Get it? That's a beer joke. Yeah, I'm a Dad. Bad jokes come with the territory. A flight of five was in order for me although I did have the option for a flight of four which provided slightly larger pours. I appreciate this flexibility in a brewery just like I appreciate SWPFTD's flexibility. Article One amber lager is a very easy drinking amber. Malt flavor toward but light. SWPFTD would order this one and enjoy it. Laugh With Sinners imperial IPA had good hop flavor with a little citrus. Folk'n Around pale ale had the expected bitterness that lingered on my tongue, but certainly not in a bad way. Crumbs: Key Lime Pie. I sing that song to SWPFTD sometimes. She says I'm naughty, but I do love her key lime pie! Oh...the beer. Right. Sorry. I've run across quite a few key lime pie beers in my brewery travels and this was a really good one. Mr. Anderson imperial stout is dessert in and of itself. Chocolate and molasses on the tongue. Just a great stout. Add some vanilla bean ice cream and this would be a killer ice cream float too. I ordered some food as well since they have "Eugene's Sausage & Fries" right in the tap room. I went with a bratwurst Reuben. A brat topped with pastrami, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and 1000 island dressing. It was really, really good! Why does anyone order a hot dog when bratwursts exist? I highly recommend MSBC. They have a great space, if a little industrial and cold, but the energy made up for it. The beers were great and so was the food. Mustang Sally Brewing Company is nestled in one of those strip corporate plazas, which may be super hard to miss unless you're specifically looking for the place. The space is large and airy, and there are plenty of tables and seating. They have an arepa stand off to the side for eats, various showcases of local vendors, live music events, and other activities that may be of interest for their customers. There's a bar area that offers various drinks - I saw a few who ordered flights. The place was jumpin' on a weekend, and I enjoyed the live music very much! This brewery was right down the street from my hotel so we decided to check it out. I wasn't sure what I was expecting but I was pleasantly surprised. The space itself is pretty cool. It has huge ceiling and a warehouse feel but has some nice lights and decor. They have a mix of tall tables, normal tables, picnic tables, and smaller tables. They also have corn hole, games, and pinball. There were a kids runs around, which I didn't mind at but I know some people do. They a relatively small beer menu but that's typical for this size local brewery. I tried the Phreak, which is a mild sour and it was wonderful- would definitely recommend. They also have a Venezuelan concept inside the brewery. I got a beef and a pork arepa. They were delicious! A little on the greasy side though. Came across this on a list of breweries and a list of weekend Halloween events so we took the trip to Chantilly. They had some Harry Potter themed food, drinks, and activities for the day so my girlfriend was super eager to go. Parking, like for most breweries, was pretty easy since it was in a business park/warehouse area. We came around the time it opened so not too many people around to start. They had a good amount of seating outside but inside had much more room. There's also a bunch of pinball machines and a Eugene's Express (sausages, chips, etc.). We head to the bar and first thing we go for are the Harry Potter stuff on tap, the Polyjuice Potion Seltzer (green apple seltzer) and a Amortentia Potion Sour (multi fruit sour made with gummy worms/bears). Wasn't sure about the stuff at first but first sip of each was so good. I could definitely taste the gummies in the sour and wasn't too tart, more sweet. Same with the seltzer, it was neon green and sweet. We figured we had to try their other stuff so we got a flight of the Fall Y'all, Yellowhammer, Simpsons Did It, Halo, and the Sonnenblume. We loved them all but my favorites were the Yellowhammer and Simpsons Did It. On our last drinks we got another Polyjuice Potion Seltzer and the last Harry Potter/Halloween theme beer , the Draught of the Living Dead, a stout brewed with Snickers and Reese's. I couldn't taste the candy too much but I only had a sip, my girlfriend loved it though. With Eugene's cranking out great food, the pinball machines, projectors playing both games and movies, and friendly staff pouring great beers, you could spend hours here. read more

I came for their oyster fest. This inviting brewery is at the end of a cul-de-sac in a large business park in Chantilly. Plenty of parking and seating. Went here for a work gathering, but I don't drink beer so I wasn't too excited about it. However, I saw that they sold food so I was OK with that! I tried some of the sours they offered from the flight which was better than beer, but still not my first choice. The food was good, but a bit pricey. Great beer and they always have a large variety of options. Our favorites have always been the smoothie sours. The food options are always good. We love the brats and fries. We came for sour fest recently and it was insanely packed. There weren't enough seats or tables so a lot of people were sitting on curbs outside or standing around. We bought a flight and had to awkwardly hold it since we didn't have anywhere to put it. They did have seating outside but that was all full too. It was odd that during this large event they also had a graduation party in one section which took up space. I think for the future for events like this they need to figure out how to include more seating or even just adding more high top tables. read more

Who would've known that a sizable brewery would be located in an office building area? The tasting room is fairly sized with a good amount of tables. They also have an cornhole set indoors along with a few arcade games. It can get pretty loud inside with the band/musician though. There's a food stand next to the bar as well if you get hungry but I saw some other people ordering pizza and having it delivered. The beer flight was such a great deal at 5 for $10! I like that Mustangs Sally's is always adapting and changing things up. Every quarter there seems to be something new! When I first started coming here, I really enjoyed the fun runs on Sundays before the Brewery opened. If you participated you got HH prices of beer during your stay! They didn't have much food options so we normally only came in for Pint after dinner on our way back home. Now they have a bring your OWN food option. They also offer an on-site food option of small arepas (from another company?) and small snacks like costco chip type snacks. They sometimes have food trucks. I love all the options you can choose from to get food now! Just this year they started allowing DOGS to come inside the brewery as well. They amped up the game selection offering some board games and added more pinball machines. You can also reserve off area's for parties by the chalk board or by the leather seats. This is now a weekly Date Night location for the whole family (our puppy)! We now stay for two or three rounds and have our dinners on site spending roughly 2-3 hours here weekly. We really enjoy all the new changes and we constantly invite co-workers to pop in after work or neighbors to come and play games with us here. One thing I would say is it gets kind of loud when there is live music and is def crowded on Fridays and Saturdays (so come early to get a table). read more

A brewery tucked away in a business park. MSB is a great place with delicious beer and friendly people. They have a surplus of pinball machines for and even host a pinball league night on Thursdays. They do weekly trivia nights and bingo nights as well. It was one of the first breweries in Northern Virginia that we visited, and we've been back a number of times since. Mustang Sally is one of our new favorite breweries in the area. We came the other day with friends because I heard about their Crumbs key lime pie sour. It was absolutely delicious! I do wish there was more key lime flavor but I really enjoyed how light and refreshing it was. We were also really excited about Eugene's. We have had their food before at Eavesdrop Brewery but they do things a little differently at each location. I had the Reuben dog and it was 10/10. This is a wonderful place to bring friends and would be great for a big group or party as it is very spacious! We can't wait to come back soon. read more

This is one of my favorite craft breweries in the Metro Area. I've never been disappointed with their selection, the staff, or the brewery itself. There's usually even a food truck outside with great food. They have several choices to choose from. Today they have six beers on tap. I did a flight a five to taste as many as I could! I tried the Minho (mix between a saison and a Portuguese table wine), Article One Amber, Irish Red Ale, Dortmunder Lager (one of their award winners), and the East Coast IPA. The Minho was probably my favorite followed closely by the Irish Red. Really, you can't go wrong with any choice. Previous reviews stated the tolerance for kids as a problem. As a parent, I appreciate that kids are welcome and even encouraged. My kids are older now, but I love that there's a place to go where kids can come along and not be bored out of their minds while their parents enjoy a great craft brew. It's not the brewery's fault when kids are unruly. That responsibility lies with the parents. Today I'm visiting at 2pm on a Saturday. Love it! Stopped into visit Mustang Sally one hot Thursday afternoon on the way home from the office in Reston. First of all, the interior area is vast. Wide open spaces! I approached the bar to place an order for a flight of beers - I wanted to taste everything. They had six beers available to taste that day. Neal and one young lady were working the bar - both were very nice and I had an enjoyable conversation with them during my tasting. I found their current crop of beers to be very average. I was really was hoping they would knock it out of the park. I also think they need to get creative with their beer naming. Their Kolsch is simply called "Kolsch." And so it goes with their beers. I tasted the following: Kölsch (5.0% ABV) Amber Lager (4.5% ABV) American Wheat (5.7% ABV) Grapefruit Radler (3.0% ABV) Porter (6.0% ABV) IPA (6.5% ABV) I did enjoy their IPA - it is the only beer out of their current lineup that I'd order a whole pint. Hopefully, they'll improve over time! During my visit - I checked with them - they currently do not have a free, open WiFi network for customers. Most local craft breweries do. Came for the beer but will come back for the food. Eugene's serves a great offering of guilty pleasure bar food of gourmet hot dogs, half smokes, french fries and tater tots. My friends like the french fries but the Diablo tater tots are what do it for me. Everything is made to order and comes out piping hot. The food is great but what puts it over the top is the service. Sarah, the manager made us feel so welcome we felt like we had been coming there for years. It was clear that she took the time to know everyone that comes to Mustang Sally. "All you want to do is ride around Sally (riiide, Sally, ride)". Actually if you replace "ride" with "drink beer" this song would be a really accurate description for this place! They opened in March 2016 so they are still somewhat in the 'test drive' phase of discovering what brews they want to make flagship beers. But once they do a bit more experimenting I think they will make a big splash in the VA brew scene. Where as some breweries gradually expand their business, Sally has a 'go big or go home' mentality. Both the bar and production area has a lots of space, including space to grow. They are in an industrial space that's not the easiest to find via GPS. Fortunately they aren't far from I 66 so it's still fairly easy to get to. A point in their favor is they did their best to cozy up the place, including an oversized janga board. People seemed to have a blast sipping and playing... although from the periodic crashing noises from the corner I suspect drinking beer dulled their reflexes. Also nice were the hot pretzels and beef stew. My server explained they are going for Old World style beers; nothing to crazy or experimental. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing, but I think they will loosen up once they settle on few flagship beers. As for the beer...well I didn't dislike anything except the Radler, but nothing in the current flights tickled my fancy. What I tried: Kolsh: Pretty good; banana notes, maybe? Favorite of the bunch IPA: Not overly hoppy but then again, I rarely like IPAs and this is no exception Amber: not bad; a little bitter maybe? Wheat beer: ok to good The Radler: only one I didn't like. 30% grapefruit. It seriously tasted lie eating a grapefruit...one of my least favorite fruits... The upside is I has a sample of their (off menu) Hellas Lager. Excellent!!! This was a test run, but I really, really hope they make it a flagship. read more

What a nice brewery! I didn't know this great spot till I received event tickets from on tap magazine. It was the first Fairfax brewing festival. $35 for 6 beer samples, which was too expensive but good for fundraising. I happened to see one of my new friends this area, which made this event more special! Also I tried one of the best food tracks in this area. I guess that was Turkish. That was ... because the meat was dry, vegetables were fresh, and the oil was oxidant. Ops, I gotta talk about beer eh! Taste: Porter was good!!!! Price: Too pricy for the event but usually good. An excellent place to spend an afternoon with friends! This place is great. From the delicious variety of beers to reasonable prices to laid-back atmosphere, this is a super chill spot. I'd recommend getting a flight. It's a great deal, either 4 for 8 or 5 for 10. What I especially loved was that unlike most breweries, there were no restrictions on which beers you could get for the flight. One of the ones I got was 10.5% ABV, heyooo! There is no food save for chips/packaged snacks, but they do have food trucks on the weekend and some places deliver. I would not recommend Mr. Wrap...but that's a different review ;) My favorite beer was a limited release blackberry Berliner-Weiss. So tart and refreshing--it's the perfect beer for summer! Atmosphere was fun and chill. We had no problem claiming couches which was great because we brought our baby. It's a great non-judge mental place to do that--there were actually 4 babies there! There were pretty beer garden lights and old school arcade machines you could play. As our selection of drinking places that welcome us with open arms dwindles, Mustang Sally feels like a godsend! I've recently been trying some of the breweries in the area and my friend recommended Mustang Sally to me since she and her family come here often. It's located in a corporate area, like many breweries in NOVA, and has a good deal of outdoor and indoor seating. The inside of the brewery is pretty cool looking, it's very spacious with fun barrel-embellished high tables and also regular square tables. You can see behind the bar where they have the actual brewery and where they do the fermentation. Outside they have plenty of picnic style benches and some tables with umbrellas! They also had a pitcher of water with cups and also a spray bottle of alcohol so that we can clean down our tables/chairs after using them, which was great. I was looking forward to trying arepas as I saw on the website they had an arepa stand. Sadly, when we came by, we found out that they had gone out of business. This was super sad to hear because I know a lot of local business have been struggling during this pandemic, so I'm hoping they're doing alright. They do have a fairly limited beer selection, but it has a lot of variety at the same time! PSA though, they're not doing flights or half-pours at this time. I'm a huge fan of sours so when I came I was excited they had three on the menu. The first one I tried was the Pleasure Spot, which was a mango and passionfruit sour. I loved this one, and my sister did too! Very fruity (which I like). Next I tried the Getaway Plan sour. Unfortunately, I really hated this one, and so did my family, haha! I can't quite describe it but it was extremely thick and I wasn't really tasting any of the blackberry or lime notes it was supposed to have. Fortunately, I went over to the bar and asked the woman who was working to try a sample of the pHreak of Nature and she offered me a pour of it when I said I didn't like the Getaway Plan. She was super friendly and helpful and I really enjoyed chatting with her! The pHreak of Nature was pretty mild but still really good. The place is no frills with a warehouse vibe despite being in an office park. This is the quintessential brewery space with fun chalkboard walls, corn hole jenga and pinball machines. I've seen people with kids and dogs but never too many kids where you feel like you're at Chuck E. Cheese. They also have excellent food on premises but it's walk up service and cheap prices. Located in a nondescript warehouse business park, the brewery is bright and comfortable inside with high ceilings, plentiful tables, and a sweet collection of pinball machines. Hubby and I shared a tasting flight of the fruit and dark beers, then settled on his Dessert First stout and my pHreak'n Out sour for pints. Paired with a delicious sampling of hot dogs, half smokes, and brats from Eugene's Sausage, our tummies were full and happy.
