Butternut squash ravioli with brown butter sage - our vegetarian friend loved it. Fruiti Di Mare - a brothy noodle dish, reminded me of Bouillabaisse. I like it but my husband prefers a thicker sauce. It contained mostly mollusks, squids and shrimps I didn't see any fishes at all. The shrimps and squids were overcooked, dried and tough. Came here at around 6pm on Sunday no reservations and got seated right away with a party of 5. The complementary bread was fresh and delicious my kids enjoyed it. The crab cakes were ok. Didn't really hit the spot for me. I didn't taste any crab but it wasn't bad. My kids really enjoyed the calamari. Sauces were very good as well. Everyone enjoyed their food, it came out quick and fresh . Dessert was my favorite by far. The cannoli was so fresh and creamy. My parents and I decided to go to Buon Appetito for my dad's birthday and it's one of the best Italian restaurants in Hayward. Pretty well setup inside especially with how utensils, glasses, napkins, and plates are organized. It also looks nice inside especially at a larger dining area where there weren't anyone there when I got here. They also have a patio too, but no one goes outside since it's cold now. The food is really delicious here. We were given normal sized plates and I'm surprised that the food seems small from the outside but volume of it says otherwise. It could be the ingredients that they used to make our meals. I seen dishes like Fettuccine Alfredo and Spaghetti Bolognese, which are very common dishes, but I don't want either of them. So I got Fettuccine alla Friuliana. It's mostly fettuccine with Italian sausages and tomato sauce. That dish really hits the spot especially when cheese makes it more flavorful. I also tried my parents' dishes and they're as good as the one I got. For dessert, we got tiramisu. I love how it sprinkled with cocoa powder I believe as well as topping it off with some sort of cream I think. They actually blend well with that dessert. Honestly, they should have but it in a smaller plate to match the food-to-plate ratio. Overall, it's one of the best Italian restaurants out there. A great Italian restaurant in downtown! This restaurant is very clean and have a nice interior as well as a small outdoor eating balcony. The menu was small but still had a lot of great options. The complimentary bread and garlic butter was yummy. Half of the party got mojitos, and sodas get 1 free refill as well. The Linguine ai Frutti di Mare is basically like a cioppino with pasta. The Lasagne Ferrarese was a decent portion, very flavorful. My husband and I found this little gem when looking for a place for a dinner date. We were both craving Italian and wow we were so happy to find Buon Appetito. Really nice comfy warm interiors and really friendly staff. We got sat right by the kitchen so it was fun to see all the food come in and out. We had dirty martinis and espresso martinis. Our server was nice and attentive. We were given bread and water once we were sat. I asked for oil and vinegar for the bread. We shared the calamari and a Caesar salad which were both OK. I had the Osso Buco which needed some seasoning. But the meat was cooked well. My husband had the ribeye steak and it was good. She's all how many people and I said well I have reservations for five they gave her my name. She looked around the restaurant over to the left of the hostess is another room. The crabcakes had a nice crunchy crust and a Caesar salad. Had that yummy anchovy taste you're looking for in a Caesar salad. Today, I found myself in Hayward celebrating a birthday with the family and ended up visiting Buon Appetito. This location is nicely lit, has a welcoming atmosphere and the bonus of a parking lot. We had a reservation, so getting seated was a breeze. Our waiter, Tim, was incredibly kind and patient, which we greatly appreciated since we were a big party. They even went out of their way to set up additional tables to accommodate everyone. Once seated, drinks were ordered all around--red wine, margaritas, lemonade, and cocktails--while I kept it simple with ice water. As we decided on our meals, they brought out bread, and let me tell you, it was amazing. Soft and delicious...it didn't even need to be warmed. For our meals, my wife chose the Fettuccine Alfredo, which came with homemade fettuccine pasta, a creamy Alfredo sauce, parmesan cheese, and grilled chicken. She paired it with a strawberry lemonade. I got the Fettuccine alla Friuliana, which has Italian sausage, caramelized onions, red wine, fresh tomato sauce, and parmesan cheese. Both dishes were absolutely delicious, and I'd highly recommend them! Overall, it was a fantastic experience. The food was great, the service was attentive, and the atmosphere had a nice vibe. This place is really good, the gnocchi is definitely the star of the show! My lemon ravioli was just okay for me but that's because I wasn't a fan of the lemon flavor but I thought I'd give it a shot. I would definitely come back. We have went here twice and both times didn't disappoint. We also had the canolis and they were delish as well. The restaurant isn't super fancy but the food makes up for it. The only thing I didn't really like was that they had the silver container with ceramic wrap on top of it and all the canolis were inside of it. No big deal but maybe hide that from customers. We do understand tipping and I am actually a generous tipper. But, I do not appreciate the workers deciding for us. Especially for to go orders. We come to this place for family dinners and celebrations. They have a large menu of pasta and non pasta options and a full bar. The place is cozy and feels homey. I've tried varies pasta but I love the shells and chicken. It's a light sauce with shells chicken , broccoli and sun dried tomatoes. I had a lemon drop which was very good. Strong but not too strong. They always bring bread to the table with this amazing tomato garlicky spread that I can't ever say no to so so good!
