Came here on a Sunday afternoon for a drink before dinner. Sat at the bar and enjoyed the nice ambience. Wanted to try something new, so ordered limoncello spritz. You have to like lemon to enjoy this drink as the lemon flavor is not subtle at all. Refreshing on a hot day. Ordered a Bloody Mary also, which was refreshing. We got a fish carpaccio, but I can't remember what kind of fish it was! It was very thinly cut, but to the point where we had to scrape it off the plate, which was kind of a weird experience. Good balance of salt from the fish and zest from the sauce. The amount of micro greens was a bit much. Overpowered everything else. Overall, don't need to order this dish again.

This place is great for what Alameda has to offer. They're jokesters here - so if you're sensitive - just beware that the servers here are comfy and joking right off the bat! Personally I don't mind it - we had a friend who wasn't so into it... the food was terrific. I was afraid the pulpo wasn't gonna be good after seeing it arrive in cut bits - but my one year old was loving it and barely left me any. The beet salad was delicious and bright - the branzino wasn't perfectly deboned but it was pretty darn close! Loved it with the lemon squeeze and olives! My hubs said the ribeye was good and that their polenta was smooth a tad over runny but still tasty. Can't give a full five stars because for the pricepoint it isn't necessarily taste buds blown away - but what i did love is that they didn't force gratuity... it's a rarity nowadays and to see these guys treat us well and not expect 18% or 25% and force it was very refreshing. Our group of 9 still tipped 20% because we were a large party and nothing fell through the cracks... service was definitely a plus!

This was our 3rd visit to Trabocco's all to celebrate birthdays...this time my sister's Reservations were made through Open-Table. Arrived a few minutes early and noticed both the outdoor patio and indoor dining room were packed. No fear, our table for 3 was awaiting us Service: top notch service was provided by Marshall who was our server when we came last year for my niece's birthday. He's been w Trabocco for over 10 years and he speaks highly of working there. We have met the Chef/Owner before. He was kind enough to chat with us and take a photo. Food: Every dish's presentation was spot on and tasted fabulous! Appetizer was our FAV Pizzeria Cristina Entree: Brodetto Alla Vastere (seafood stew). Substituted the shrimp w additional scallops Special: squidink risotto and grilled seafood platter (a daily special Thank you Marshall for being our server and Chef-owner Giuseppe for a wonderful evening at your restaurant Will definitely see you soon

Best enjoyed w company bc entrees are pricey but oh so tasty, and it's challenging to choose just 1 or 2! Beautiful outdoor seating on a warm day in Alameda. Service was great and authentic. Just came back from Italy so this place hit the spot for me being home now.

    Polipo e Patate

I've been here a couple of times and they haven't disappointed me yet! I'm a sucker for pasta with seafood so I always opt for the Polipo e Patate appetizer and Spaghetti del Trabocco, which comes with mussels and shrimp. Both are delicious! A little on the pricy side, but at least they give a good portion. In both experiences, I haven't had bad service. The servers I've had are on top of things and make sure to keep your water refilled, while frequently checking in on things. I also love the ambiance inside the restaurant. It feels cozy despite looking a little more fancy.

    Short rib and mushroom risotto

Went here with my partner today for lunch. We both ordered different specials. He got the short rib served with mushroom risotto. I had the mixed grilled seafood that came with a salad and polenta cakes. His short rib was very tasty and reminded me of osso buco and the risotto was super tatand great mushroom flavor. The mixed grill had one shrimp one scallop a piece of salmon and sea bass and some slices of tuna. They all tasted fine but there was nothing that really made any of them stand out. I liked the polenta cake and thought the salad was quite good. It was about 50 bucks per person not a great value for what we got I have been here once before and had an awesome meal so maybe just ordered wrong. The patio area was nice and was a beautiful day to be outside. The indoor seating area is great and intimate feels a bit more formal. The service today was pretty slow and we were not checked on which was a let down. Took a long time to get our order taken and my drink was empty most of the meal. Only got one refil on my iced tea.

    Spaghetti Del Trabocco*

I am glad we were able to be seated as almost all the tables were filled when we came around 7pm on a Saturday night. Our server explained the specials and although we didn't order any, it sounded good. Now I wish I could say I enjoyed the food but there really wasn't anything special about any of our dishes. $20 for calamari felt like we were being robbed and the quantity did not make up for the quality. The ravioli came with 4 ravioli that was covered in sauce and melted cheese. The spaghetti was ordinary with not a lot of seafood to really make it worth the price. The panna cotta is probably the only thing that saved our meal and appetites. Might come back to try the pizza but not the pasta again.

Nice Italian restaurant in a mall across from the beach. They have a nice indoor dining area and covered outdoor seating. They cook with the wood fired oven. Stopped here for lunch and had a salad with grilled chicken and another with seafood. Everything was delicious and perfectly cooked! The server was great and didn't give too much attention to be annoying. They have a great beer and wine menu.

Made an easy reservation for an after work get together. Table was on the outdoor enclosed patio. It was a cozy spot but a bit dark... was a struggle to read the menus. Server was friendly and engaging. Ordered 3 apps to start: calamari, pulpo, and burrata. My entree was the spaghetti del Trabocco (seafood pasta with red sauce). Lots of flavor and well-cooked prawns and shellfish. Drinks were just right; not too strong and flavorful. Everyone was happy with their dishes. Pizzas on nearby tables looked great. Next time...

Time for an updated review! While I have tried Trabocco once before, my partner has not and we wanted a different cuisine from our usual, so Italian it was! We made a reservation for 6PM ahead of time and I'm kinda glad we did. Even though it was a random Thursday, this place was popping with people. I don't think people were told they needed to wait, but I'm still glad we were seated immediately because I was pretty hungry by the time we made it here. The front hostess greeted us with a 'Happy Anniversary' after I told her about our reservation. A few slices of complementary bread and olive oil/balsamic vinegar is given right from the start and honestly, their bread is delicious. We each ordered drinks first. I opted for the Arnold Palmer and my partner got himself an alcoholic drink. We opted for lamb skewers served with toasted bread as appetizer, a side of Broccoli di Rape, I got the Brodetto Alla Vastese (seafood stew) as my main, and my partner got the seafood platter (their daily special). My Arnold Palmer was a good one. From past experiences, there's usually more lemonade than there is tea, but Trabocco's tasted more tea-like than lemonade-like. It's a slightly nicer change from the typical. Next up, the appetizer came with three lamb skewers. I think it's actually a bit pricey for how small they are, but they are made very well. The lamb skewers are small, but they're tender and juicy! I'm not exactly sure the lamb and toasted bread goes together, but each component by itself was nice. The Broccoli di Rape was really good too. My partner described it as a bit bitter, but it tasted very green and vegetal to me. I liked it as is. As for my seafood stew - wow, I did not go wrong with ordering this. When our server handed us both seafood plates as our entrees, he commented that we made good choices, haha. There's a lot of ingredients in there - salmon, octopus, mussels, clams, shrimps, and scallops from what I remember. I especially liked the scallops and salmon pieces because they were cooked perfectly. They're melt-in-your-mouth silky smooth. The only thing I felt was overcooked was the baby octopuses, but everything else in there was delicious. The soup is nourishing. Even though it's got a tomato based broth, it wasn't tart at all. It was comforting and both my partner and I couldn't get enough of it. He actually preferred my stew over his platter of fish! I sampled a bit of the seafood platter and what I liked the most from his dish was the scallops and ahi tuna (I think). For dessert, they gave us a complementary Tiramisu! The dessert that I was definitely hoping to try since people seem to love it here. I also ordered a Raspberry sorbet as it's the only dairy-free dessert on the menu. The tiramisu was absolutely worth trying. It's so light and airy, but has a really nice coffee/chocolatey flavor to it. I can see why people love their tiramisu. As for the sorbet, I think I'll pass on it next time. It was refreshing and light, but too sweet for my liking. It tasted like strawberry flavored starburst to me. We would absolutely love to come here again. Although Italian is almost never our first choice of cuisine, this may be our first choice for Italian. We had great hosts and the vibe is great. Parking is never an issue here either since the lot is so big. I know I rated them as 3.5 stars last time I tried Trabocco, but it's definitely more than a 4 this time! It's a little noisy in there, but it's also a fun environment.

    Calamari Fritti $21.00

To be honest, Trabocco is spacious and has a fresh atmosphere that feels both modern and inviting. The outdoor patio is nice - shady, breezy, and comfortably set up for a relaxing meal and a drink. It's a great spot to enjoy a meal outdoors without feeling crowded or rushed between TJ and Safeway. Service was pleasant throughout, though not especially memorable. Unfortunately, they forgot to bring the most anticipated part of the evening to obey the thirst - a beer!, which was a bit of a letdown. The food was decent, leaning toward simple, nothing to stand out. The Salumiere pizza was basic, the Ortolano veggie pizza was juicy and enjoyable, and the Burrata came in a standard three-piece presentation on tomatoes with falling cheese. The Calamaretti Fritti were way overcooked and dry, missing the light crispness you'd expect. Some were left untouched... While the kitchen doesn't particularly shine, the overall setting leaves the door open for a return visit, especially for drinks or a light bite on the patio.

Is it possible to bring in a small birthday cake?

Yes, of course - there is a $1.50/person cake service fee.

Are disability animals prohibited on the patio?

Technically, they allow them, but they will grill you on what your disability is, which is against the law. Definitely not a dog friendly place in any case. I recommend you go elsewhere if you have a dog, service animal or otherwise.

I remember old tiki bars back in the day in the 50s when I first remembered hearing about him and the 60s when they were still popular. When you walk into the place, it's unlike anybody you're gonna walk into there are one dollar bill stuck to every square inch of the ceiling. Smoking is only allowed outside, so the room was pretty clear because as you walk in it is small, but there's plenty of room at the bar and there are a couple little hutches that you can sit in as well as an area around the corner, but the big surprise is outside. When we walked outside, there was like a 10 foot tiki head out there and it was a flash throwback to the old days. It was so much fun to see. The bar serves drinks that are long forgotten and most bars, and they served them with flair. Everybody from the minute I walked in the front door was awesome. They were smiling, attentive, helpful, and making sure that you got exactly what you wanted and the perfect experience. I even had a moment to talk to the owner and tell him how impressed I was by the staff and the fun that the place brought. I would say I will absolutely be glad to return to this place anytime. The quality that drinks is absolutely five star. The flavors were spot on. And the throwback atmosphere was perfect. I strongly recommended for anybody that wants to go out for an evening of fun and frolic. When they close the back where the outdoor seating is a little bit earlier than the regular bar hours it does get a bit crowded on the inside because so many people are there that you didn't see originally. But that didn't change it. We still had maximum fun.

Benedict (buttermilk biscuit, dungeness crab cakes, marinated swiss chard & beet greens, herbed hollandaise, poached eggs & mixed greens): I'm not a huge benedict person because they can feel heavy, but this one was fantastic. I loved the textures and flavors of the crab cakes pairing with the greens and vegetables. It felt balanced and not too creamy or exhausting to eat. It definitely stands out from the run-of-the-mill brunch benedict. Vegetable Hash (roasted sweet potatoes, garnet yams, sunchokes, cauliflower, cremini mushrooms, celery root & onion, savoy spinach & poached eggs): This was also delicious and also set itself apart from the standard brunch hash. I loved the different vegetables in it besides being just potatoes and onions. The mushrooms and root vegetables worked really well together. Everything was well-seasoned. I'm glad we ended up choosing these dishes even though neither were my original top choices (I decided on the menu with my friend). It made me feel like you can choose anything and it'd be a banger. We were quite full from these dishes, and we forget we also ordered beignets to come out last. They were fluffy and mostly air (but not in a bad way). The service throughout the meal was good. We were checked on from time-to-time and our waters were refilled, although I wish the water glasses were a little bigger. One small thing to note was that we were given the check while we were still eating, even though the restaurant was still seating people despite it being close to closing time. Unsure if/why we were rushed like this. Overall, this was a memorable brunch spots I've been to in the Bay (dare I say one of the best?). We left smelling like a campfire. I would recommend it.

I also ordered the impossible taquitos which came with guac, sour cream, and salsa on top. The presentation was beautiful and the food came out fast but the taste was a bit weird, it wasn't bad but it just tasted like burger meat in a taquito. I really appreciate that they offered a meat alternative but wish it tasted better, like maybe use potatoes instead of fake meat, or use fake chorizo over a burger seasoning. It would also be nice if there was a vegan version not just a vegetarian version. Despite my critiques of the food, I have no critiques for the service and atmosphere! My server was phenomenal and attentive and checked in often! I had a great experience and look forward to coming back but would definitely be more eager to come back if they updated with more vegan options!
