I was greeted with Niko and the gang who were so incredibly kind and provided honestly the fastest service I've had in quite a while! I love a place that has amazing customer service, It was a lovely and wonderful touch to have the owner come through the restaurant and checking on everyone. Such a nice part of my time here. Went with a group of 6 ladies tonight and had a great family style meal with cocktails, beer, and mocktails. Service was excellent and I love how the servers have all worked at this restaurant for a long time - staff retention is a rare thing these days. The burrata and prosciutto appetizer was very tasty and the beet salad was refreshing and healthy. We enjoyed the prosciutto pizza that had a nice truffle scent. The pastas were also excellent - we had the oxtail ravioli and the butternut squash agnolotti. The mixed seafood platter was very good and they added additional shrimp and scallops for us. The branzino and salmon were my favorite. Nice selection of cocktails, beer, and mocktails. The dessert menu has a nice variety. Came here on a Saturday night without a reservation about 7pm. Wait time was about 20 minutes. There was a steady stream of people and they were pretty busy the whole night. I've been here a couple times prior. We ordered a pizza for an appetizer to share in addition to our individual entrées of the spaghetti del trabocco, the lasagna, and the ravioli con coda. The pizza with the Italian sausage had a lightly spicy kick and the thin crust was perfectly crispy. The pizza was great. It was salty and savory without being overly heavy. All of our pasta entrées were delicious too. Good flavor and filling without leaving you feeling too stuffed. We had leftovers too. My favorite was the tiramisu that we shared. It was moist and lightly sweet and it helped end the meal on a great note! The restaurant can be a little loud if they're busy, but otherwise it has a great ambiance. Came here on a Sunday afternoon for a drink before dinner. Sat at the bar and enjoyed the nice ambience. Wanted to try something new, so ordered limoncello spritz. You have to like lemon to enjoy this drink as the lemon flavor is not subtle at all. Refreshing on a hot day. Ordered a Bloody Mary also, which was refreshing. We got a fish carpaccio, but I can't remember what kind of fish it was! It was very thinly cut, but to the point where we had to scrape it off the plate, which was kind of a weird experience. This place is great for what Alameda has to offer. They're jokesters here - so if you're sensitive - just beware that the servers here are comfy and joking right off the bat! Personally I don't mind it - we had a friend who wasn't so into it... the food was terrific. I was afraid the pulpo wasn't gonna be good after seeing it arrive in cut bits - but my one year old was loving it and barely left me any. The beet salad was delicious and bright - the branzino wasn't perfectly deboned but it was pretty darn close! Loved it with the lemon squeeze and olives! My hubs said the ribeye was good and that their polenta was smooth a tad over runny but still tasty. Can't give a full five stars because for the pricepoint it isn't necessarily taste buds blown away - but what i did love is that they didn't force gratuity... it's a rarity nowadays and to see these guys treat us well and not expect 18% or 25% and force it was very refreshing. The servers I've had are on top of things and make sure to keep your water refilled, while frequently checking in on things. I also love the ambiance inside the restaurant. Went here with my partner today for lunch. We both ordered different specials. He got the short rib served with mushroom risotto. I had the mixed grilled seafood that came with a salad and polenta cakes. His short rib was very tasty and reminded me of osso buco and the risotto was super tatand great mushroom flavor. The mixed grill had one shrimp one scallop a piece of salmon and sea bass and some slices of tuna. They all tasted fine but there was nothing that really made any of them stand out. I liked the polenta cake and thought the salad was quite good. It was about 50 bucks per person not a great value for what we got I have been here once before and had an awesome meal so maybe just ordered wrong. The patio area was nice and was a beautiful day to be outside. The indoor seating area is great and intimate feels a bit more formal. The service today was pretty slow and we were not checked on which was a let down. Took a long time to get our order taken and my drink was empty most of the meal. I am glad we were able to be seated as almost all the tables were filled when we came around 7pm on a Saturday night. Our server explained the specials and although we didn't order any, it sounded good. Now I wish I could say I enjoyed the food but there really wasn't anything special about any of our dishes. $20 for calamari felt like we were being robbed and the quantity did not make up for the quality. The ravioli came with 4 ravioli that was covered in sauce and melted cheese. The spaghetti was ordinary with not a lot of seafood to really make it worth the price. Time for an updated review! While I have tried Trabocco once before, my partner has not and we wanted a different cuisine from our usual, so Italian it was! We made a reservation for 6PM ahead of time and I'm kinda glad we did. Even though it was a random Thursday, this place was popping with people. I don't think people were told they needed to wait, but I'm still glad we were seated immediately because I was pretty hungry by the time we made it here. The front hostess greeted us with a 'Happy Anniversary' after I told her about our reservation. A few slices of complementary bread and olive oil/balsamic vinegar is given right from the start and honestly, their bread is delicious. We each ordered drinks first. I opted for the Arnold Palmer and my partner got himself an alcoholic drink. We opted for lamb skewers served with toasted bread as appetizer, a side of Broccoli di Rape, I got the Brodetto Alla Vastese (seafood stew) as my main, and my partner got the seafood platter (their daily special). My Arnold Palmer was a good one. From past experiences, there's usually more lemonade than there is tea, but Trabocco's tasted more tea-like than lemonade-like. It's a slightly nicer change from the typical. Next up, the appetizer came with three lamb skewers. I think it's actually a bit pricey for how small they are, but they are made very well. The lamb skewers are small, but they're tender and juicy! I'm not exactly sure the lamb and toasted bread goes together, but each component by itself was nice. The Broccoli di Rape was really good too. My partner described it as a bit bitter, but it tasted very green and vegetal to me. I liked it as is. As for my seafood stew - wow, I did not go wrong with ordering this. When our server handed us both seafood plates as our entrees, he commented that we made good choices, haha. There's a lot of ingredients in there - salmon, octopus, mussels, clams, shrimps, and scallops from what I remember. I especially liked the scallops and salmon pieces because they were cooked perfectly. They're melt-in-your-mouth silky smooth. The only thing I felt was overcooked was the baby octopuses, but everything else in there was delicious. The soup is nourishing. Even though it's got a tomato based broth, it wasn't tart at all. It was comforting and both my partner and I couldn't get enough of it. He actually preferred my stew over his platter of fish! I sampled a bit of the seafood platter and what I liked the most from his dish was the scallops and ahi tuna (I think). For dessert, they gave us a complementary Tiramisu! The dessert that I was definitely hoping to try since people seem to love it here. I also ordered a Raspberry sorbet as it's the only dairy-free dessert on the menu. The tiramisu was absolutely worth trying. It's so light and airy, but has a really nice coffee/chocolatey flavor to it. I can see why people love their tiramisu. As for the sorbet, I think I'll pass on it next time. It was refreshing and light, but too sweet for my liking. It tasted like strawberry flavored starburst to me. We would absolutely love to come here again. Although Italian is almost never our first choice of cuisine, this may be our first choice for Italian. We had great hosts and the vibe is great. Parking is never an issue here either since the lot is so big. I know I rated them as 3.5 stars last time I tried Trabocco, but it's definitely more than a 4 this time! Came for late lunch/early dinner yesterday. The hostess interaction was very awkward and confusing, she was too occupied with a tablet to even greet us at first so we were just standing there waiting in front of her. There was a delay in seating us even though there were plenty of open tables in the dining room. She tells us she needs to check something outside, another hostess comes, and they're both trying to figure out where to seat us. We finally get seated and while we're doing that she tells our daughter she "strait-jacketed herself" with her blanket. Very off-putting. We had lunch on a slow Saturday. We made a reservation for seven people, and they had no problem accommodating. They put us out on the patio, which is enclosed and completely shaded. The service was decent but not spectacular. Our waiter said that the head chef was the boss, and at one point he came over to our table and asked to talk to us about nothing in particular because he said he wanted to act like he was working. This seemed a bit strange. We tried a variety of many items; they had a short group special, which was good. The steak salad was packed with arugula, but not much steak at all. However, that state that it actually did have was excellent. Parking at the mall on the weekend was chaotic. Perfect date night spot! Lots of parking since it's the plaza. We came here on a Tuesday for dinner around 730pm and it was so busy and lively!! I liked all the seating options--patio, inside, bar and the chefs counter. We chose to sit inside but id love to sit at the chefs counter one day and watch them do their magic. Service is so warm and friendly all around. We were greeted by so many people coming and as well so many saying thank you on the way out. Started off with warm bread and olive oil and balsamic which is always chefs kiss. I also had an espresso martini which was a little on the bitter side for me but still enjoyable. We shared the insalata ruchetta which was perfect. Everything was so fresh and the tomatoes were firm and not soggy. I love how they played it separately for us to share. I loved my ravioli stuffed with oxtail. The meat was so tender and the sauce was so balanced. I believe there were about 6 ravioli but they were stuffed with plenty of meat I had some leftover. To be honest, Trabocco is spacious and has a fresh atmosphere that feels both modern and inviting. The outdoor patio is nice - shady, breezy, and comfortably set up for a relaxing meal and a drink. It's a great spot to enjoy a meal outdoors without feeling crowded or rushed between TJ and Safeway. Service was pleasant throughout, though not especially memorable. Unfortunately, they forgot to bring the most anticipated part of the evening to obey the thirst - a beer!, which was a bit of a letdown. The food was decent, leaning toward simple, nothing to stand out. The Salumiere pizza was basic, the Ortolano veggie pizza was juicy and enjoyable, and the Burrata came in a standard three-piece presentation on tomatoes with falling cheese. Trabocco has a really lovely ambience and the food we had was genuinely great. We started with the Caesar salad, which was crisp and flavorful, and the Bolognese was rich, comforting, and tasted like it was made with real care. Overall, everything we ordered tasted really good. Our server, Benjamin, was also very knowledgeable and friendly throughout most of the meal, which made the experience feel easy and welcoming. That said, I left pretty disappointed because of a small interaction near the end that rubbed me the wrong way. I ordered an Arnold Palmer, but after a couple sips it was clear it didn't have enough lemonade for my taste and wasn't sweet enough, even though I was really thirsty. When Benjamin came by and offered my girlfriend a refill (which she accepted), I asked if he could bring me a little lemonade to balance mine out. His response was essentially that they "won't do anything about that" and that he could get me iced tea instead. It wasn't clear what he meant, but it didn't feel like there was any effort to fix a drink I wasn't enjoying. What made it worse is that refills were not mentioned as an extra charge. The refill ended up being another $5, which is totally fine if that's the policy, but it should be communicated up front, especially when offering refills. Between not explaining the refill cost and not offering a simple adjustment to my drink (even just a splash more lemonade), it left me with a sour taste at the end of an otherwise really enjoyable meal. I'd still recommend Trabocco for the atmosphere and the food, but I really hope they tighten up the service details and communication around drink charges and simple fixes. read more

I had passed by Trabocco years ago and had been meaning to come by. Time flies and before you know it, almost 10 years have passed. Finally stopped by for our anniversary dinner and we inadvertently ended up with 4 entrees since my husband though the pasta was starter sized. But I am not mad as I loved that butternut squash agnolotti so much, it is now my go-to whenever I get takeout for my parents. The lasagna was fork tender that you didn't even need a knife to cut through it. The lamb shank special that I wish was available on the weekends was so hearty that it is enough for two meals, and that is even if you didn't accidentally get 2 entrees each. The Scottish salmon special is nicely cooked remaining moist. When we thought we couldn't eat another bite, the surprise tiramisu changed our mind. The only thing that kept it from being a 5 star is the amount of mosquitos while dining on the outside patio that I had to leave while the bill was being paid to avoid being bitten. read more

I had the caesar salad and it was good but could be better. The chicken was a bit tough and dry and the salad barely had any dressing on it. They offer lots of N/A drinks which was nice and very inclusive. It's not a cheap restaurant. The caprese appetizer was yummy, of course, because who doesn't love burrata?! The blackberry spritz looked fancy, but it didn't taste like anything. The oxtail ravioli was drenched in this vegetable sauce that needed more salt or something. My seat was facing the kitchen and I had a view of the flames as they cooked. Our waiter was attentive, but when we were ready for the check he made a few too many detours. I ordered the Fettuccine Bolognese and it looked the part, but it failed the taste test. It wasn't salty, but it only tasted like salt. It needed garlic, onion powder,cayenne pepper, chili powder, sugar or even a little honey. The ambiance as you enter Trabecco is a very elegant & fine dining experience. This is a great place for celebrating any special occasion bc of the staff, food & decor. Orders: Branzino ally Griglia-is a semi deboned Mediterranean Sea bass with a lot of colorful vegetables grilled to a fine perfection. The fish was grilled perfectly with a fine crisp & not dry. Let me start by saying I'm Italian, and I love Italian food. I grew up on the mid-Peninsula--San Mateo through Menlo Park, Atherton, and Palo Alto--where there are some incredible Italian gems. When I moved to Alameda 13 years ago, I thought I'd have to reset my expectations. Then Trabocco opened. I gave it a try when it was new, and even back then, I was disappointed. I chalked it up to my standards being too high after so many amazing meals across the Bay. Over the years, I've still gone back a dozen times, but I remain baffled that it holds a 4.6 rating on Google. At best, it's a 4.0 in my book. That said, if you pick the right dish, you'll be fine. On my most recent visit, I had the braised ribs. They were tender but the portion was small--solid, but not great. A 6/10. My buddy's ribeye, on the other hand, was excellent--9/10. The ladies at the table ordered salmon and a specialty pasta, pappardelle. The salmon was fine to me, but my friend thought it was overcooked. The pappardelle is where things went sideways. What came out wasn't pappardelle at all--it looked like lasagna sheets. For reference: a standard fork is about 1-1.2 inches wide, and authentic pappardelle should be about the same. Lasagna noodles are 2-2.5 inches. What they served was clearly in lasagna territory, much wider than the fork, and not what we'd been served here on previous visits. I asked for the owner, Giuseppe, to clear it up. Instead of handling it professionally, he doubled down and insisted it was pappardelle, turning the interaction uncomfortable. Worse, he made repeated, racially-tinged remarks to my wife (who is Asian), sarcastically saying, "Oh, so you're Italian, huh?" over and over. It was completely inappropriate, offensive, and frankly, racist. At that point, any chance to salvage the experience was gone. A proper response would have been something along the lines of: "How can we make this right for you?" Instead, we got defensiveness, awkwardness, and an unnecessary insult. They eventually comped the dish without telling us, but with drinks, appetizers, salads, and entrées, the bill still came to $400--a price that should buy you not only great food, but also respect and hospitality. After this experience, we're done with Trabocco. My wife, who is one of the kindest, most gracious people you could meet, left deeply offended. That says it all. There are plenty of places to enjoy better Italian food without enduring that kind of treatment. If you value respect along with your meal, look elsewhere. ******* Alameda must be starving for italian food because they keep coming to this place in droves. Went today for lunch and again walked away thinking "Meh, I've had better". Our waiter was awesome though. Great memory and super nice. The hostess? Could use some training. I was with an elderly lady and as she sat down I asked if she'd prefer a booth. Even though she said it was fine the "hostess" had to announce that she didn't have any booths available. A) I wasn't talking to her and B) What's with the lording? You're a hostess. Stop thinking you have magical powers granted to you by a wizard. Your job is to WELCOME and seat customers with a SMILE. Not be a c you next Tuesday. Hate your job? Leave. Go work at a morgue. You definitely have a personality for it. The food we ordered consisted of salmon, a pork sandwich special and the fettuccine meat sauce. The salmon was fine and came with a radicchio salad. The pork sandwich was semi bland but ok and came with both fries and a salad (a deal). The fettuccine sauce tasted like it was canned and was disappointing. Maybe because I'm Italian I have certain criteria. IDK. This place could do so much better but as long as they're filling up the place with people that don't know better who cares. When your competition is Tomatina I can see why the standards aren't higher. They're shooting fish in a barrel at southshore. Good for them. I prefer nice, family style, FRIENDLY Italian restaurants where the pasta is their best meal because it should be. I'm sure Oakland has a good place but I don't like wearing my bullet proof vest to eat. I need to try Pappo and C'era Una Volta in downtown Alameda. Or just stay home and cook it myself. read more

The food is excellent. I have been here a handful of times and the food never lowers in quality. Service is decent depending on who you get. The blood orange sparkling soda is my favorite. One thing I wish they could switch out was the potatoes that they serve for mashed potatoes. If it's a nice day I highly recommend sitting outside as the inside can get quite noisy. The bathrooms are clean and nice if that is a concern. Booking a reservation online is also super easy and recommended on weekends as it is pretty packed after 6pm. read more

Wow, I've been shopping at Trader Joes my entire life and did not once bat an eye to see what Trabocco is about. Let me tell you, I've been missing out. Trabocco strikes me as really good Italian food at an affordable price. In fact their restaurant and space screams "fancy". It feels upscaled and looks like a Napa winery. Usually with Italian food, a dish can most likely be split between two people. It's usually a lot for a serving, but here at Trabocco, it's well thought out. First, if you're planning to order a pizza definitely be prepared to share with others or take home. But if you are planning to order a pasta? You totally can finish a plate yourself. Overall, Im excited that there is a good and dependable Italian place within arms reach. The service is great and the food is of quality. Will be back. read more

Fun night here Friday night. The servers were amazing. I think the servers & the ambiance were the top qualities at Trabocco. As before mentioned in other reviews, don't park at either end of the mall. Their location is directly in the middle of the mall. Parking on either side of the mall is fine. We had their bread(5+); burrata(5+) & string beans(+5) to start. All delicious & came served by their fun & competent servers! Margaritas were delicious! Our main dishes seemed just ok. Their pizza Cristina, mushrooms sliced super thick, so gave a texture like jarred mushrooms & their prosciutto is placed on the cooked pizza. Just not for me. Perhaps that's is how it should be done, I don't know. My husband had seafood ink squid risotto. The "seafood" was those tiny pink shrimps :( But then wonderful their staff brought a beautiful tiramisu to celebrate our good friends birthday so beautiful & so delicious!
