[[HIGHLIGHT]]Had a lovely afternoon at Burgdorf Hot Springs! We took a beautiful ride through the snow to get there and enjoyed a relaxing time with gorgeous views![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The main pool was very comfortable temperature and a few of us managed to spend some time in the hotter one as well. The only drawback was the changing room which was very crowded and clothing could easily get mixed up.

Burgdorf is such an amazing hot springs! The property has cabins and buildings that have a vast history that precedes us all. I love the authenticity of how original everything is and it makes this place so special to get to partake in its history. The cabins are quaint and rustic, and they have the largest and most clean hot spring I have ever visited. This is a wonderful place to go and get unplugged and disconnect from the regular hub bub of life and return to the basics. You'll come back to your normal life more appreciative of the basic things most people take for granted. The new management takes our current times seriously, which is admirable and necessary. I can tell they are working extremely hard to improve the cabins and experience. Can't wait to visit again!!

Such an epic 2 days here. The people that take care of the place are awesome and everyone who was visiting was great. Such a great experience. It is very rustic, but well maintained and exactly what we all needed to disconnect from the world for a couple of days.

Arrived early on a spring day to find the pool all to ourselves!

I have been coming here for literally my entire life and it has not changed one bit. This is hands down THEEEE BEST hot spring in Idaho. It is a natural hot spring fed into two incredibly hot, hot, hot, hot tubs (I dare you to even get in, and if you can, to stay in 5 minutes - the trick is not to move a single muscle). The HOT tubs feed into the main pool which is huge (about normal swimming pool sized) and has rustic wood sides with a natural rock bottom (great exfoliation!) and is quite warm, gradually getting cooler toward the opposite end of the pool where it drains out to a rustic claw foot bathtub overlooking a meadow. The meadow is a wildlife refuge so you can sometimes watch herds of elk (mostly in the early spring). Everything here is rustic and are mostly the original buildings on the property. There is a changing room (wide open, no lockers, so hopefully you are comfortable with nudity), and an outhouse behind it. The office area serves a limited menu (frozen pizza, burgers, snacks, etc) and offers a comfortable seating area with a lot of history and information about the area. They have cabins to rent which are mostly the original cabins on the site and are adorable. I have not personally rented one (I own property nearby) but friends and family have and all seemed to have a good experience. There is no power or running water - but they provide firewood. I believe the cabins are all mostly furnished and have lanterns but I am not positive. Your cabin rental price is based per person but includes 24-hour pool access. "Day soaks" are under the $10 mark per person and I believe the soak hours are 10a - 8p. Big pros: -They allow you to bring your own food and drinks (including alcohol) just no glass containers -Firepit and seating at the poolside -Sometimes they have live music -Value for the price is outstanding -LOCATION! The address and many people lead you to believe this is IN McCall but it is actually about a 45-60 minute drive north up Warren Wagon rd, in the Payette National Forest. It is well worth the trip up there. Winter months it is only accessible by snowmobile. It has been under new ownership and management for a few years now and I think they are doing a wonderful job. The owners are local to McCall and visit frequently. The caretakers are a nice couple who seem to have a lot of experience in the backcountry and are doing a great job doing improvements while maintaining the original charm of this historic location.

Idaho isn't necessarily a destination spot but being here over the weekend (10/24/24- 10/28/24)…read moregave us time to explore some beautiful places like these Hot Springs. Let's get a few things out of the way: 1) There is no cell phone service out here. 2) There are no bathrooms with regular plumbing. Just Porta Potties. 3) Like someone else pointed out, there is also no fresh running water. The only water you'll have is the water from the hot springs. What they do have is a Yurt space with separate men/ women's area to change. You also have to provide your own lock. Bring your own Towels, snacks and everything else you might need because they don't serve any food here either. Given that we didn't have our own locks, we just stashed our things on the benches and into lockers without locking them. If you love water and soaking, then put this place on your bucket list. The facilities were clean and there was ample space for everyone to be in the pools without feeling too crowded. Also being surrounded by the trees and forest makes for such a magical experience. The largest pool and the hottest one was at the top. Don't ask me to tell you how hot it was-- all I know is that when we got in, it was enough to make us all gasp and walk down the steps slowly to acclimate to the heat. For someone that takes cold showers regularly, this heat was pretty intense. Once you get used to it, it feels wonderful. You can smell the sulphur from water and relaxing in here makes your body just feel calm and soothed. There are a total of 5 pools all decreasing in heat from the top. Also, the one at the top had cement floors where all the rest had sand bottoms. They also have little white water buckets to dip your feet into so that you could wash off in between pools. No reservations are needed to come here-- just show up, pay the $10 dollars and stay as long as you like. The drive out here is beautiful even though you do lose cell phone service along the way. If you're dependent on music like we are, make sure you have some playlists downloaded.

I could definitely see myself coming back for an overnight stay next time. That said, some of the features listed on their website don't quite match what's actually there. The "bar" is basically an open Gatorade/Coca-Cola setup with a fan behind it -- more like a refreshment station than a bar. The game room, though, was surprisingly nice for what it has and adds a fun touch to the place. I was a little disappointed when I wanted to grab a beer and found out glass isn't allowed (which I totally understand), but it would've been nice to have another option. On the positive side, the place was clean, the pool was great, and the hot tub was super relaxing. Sitting there on a crisp autumn day in the mountains -- you really can't beat that view or that vibe. The meditation music was excellent. The service was nothing special. They did their job. They gave me a basket. They took my money and told me have a good day. Overall, Zim's is a solid 4 out of 5 for me. A few tweaks and updates to match their online descriptions, and it'd easily be a five-star stop. Definitely worth checking out for yourself!

The pool was full (and I mean FULL) of algae, my grandson and I cleaned some of it out while he swam. Got up at 5 the next morning, my husband waited until 6 to try to get some coffee. The office was locked, one of the owners came to the door and basically said it was too early and the coffee was not on yet. A couple of hours later, I took my g-son to swim and was told that the coffee was on. I grabbed close to the last bit from the pot, was told they would start another so I text my husband that coffee was on. Half an hour later, he came for coffee... there was NOT a fresh pot and he accepted the dregs from the bottom (with grounds). Before we left, about an hour later, he went for more coffee with his personal coffee cup and was met with "you're not going to FILL that up, are you". Mind you, it was NOT a large cup. To top it off, we were billed a tip on our final bill that put our bill OVER $300! All that for 1 night, for 3 people and I didn't even have a second cup of coffee! We did go down the road for breakfast. I had been to Red River Hot Springs many times over the years, as had my family (my parents honeymooned there in the 50's). The Mundo Hot Spring Debacle…read more Nancy has been wanting to visit Mundo Hot Spring for quite some time so she got us a reservation several weeks in advance for Oct. 15. She reserved a small cabin with a private tub and a privacy fence. Check in was 4 p.m. and check out at 11 a.m. Nancy said there was a cafe and we'd eat there. We got there and we were showed around. It was a nice looking place. There was a microwave, a small refrigerator and a small heater. We got into bathing suits and into the hot tub we went. It was pleasant enough. When we got out I went across the street looking for food and came away with some very overpriced snacks. Nancy said there was a restaurant and left to go get a menu. It wasn't quite a restaurant not even a cafe. She came back with a menu for Turkey, Beef or some other kind of sandwich and a chef's salad. Pretty piss poor pickings. I had beef she had turkey. I could have made a dozen sandwiches in the time it took to get two. They were mediocre at best. We filled our bellies and bedded down for the night. About midnight, I got up to turn on the heat, no joy, the damned thing didn't work. At 3 a.m. we were both freezing. I plugged the heater into every electrical outlet in the place - - nada. By 6 a.m. we'd had enough. I started to truck to warmup while we gathered our things. Heated seats were never so good as they were that morning. We made a quick stop at Dutch Brothers for coffee and arrived home a little after 8 a.m. Nancy called the hot springs and was given a "We're sorry to hear that." No offer for a day pass. No offer for a free night - - nothing. So we had a reservation, waited weeks to go, and for all of the trouble of freezing our butts off, we got a "We're sorry." That's about as close to "We got your money and you can screw off" without actually coming out and saying it. That was Thursday morning. Nancy said she thought the lady she dealt with, after having some time to think about it, would come around to make it good. So this morning, Monday, I asked her if she had heard anything - - Nada! There was a time when no business would risk their reputation on such shoddy public relations. I guess that time has long passed. Take a Hard Pass on Mundo Hot Spring.

The hot springs pool was well-maintained and the warm water was refreshing. Employees came by frequently to ensure the water temperature remained within acceptable levels. The staff was friendly and they even refunded our hot springs fee for the final day, after we decided to leave a bit early because the forecast called for a snow storm before we had planned to leave to go home to Boise. We're glad Mundo is near an entry point for the Weiser River Trail, an 84-mile former railroad path between Weiser and Council. We plan to return in the summer to ride the trail.

Little did we know that was the only "great" of the evening. Water and menu's arrived after 10 minutes. "Server will be with you". Ha! Another 10 minutes. Caught the water guy again and asked for the wine menu. Leaves, see him consult with bar tender. Comes back and says it is in the back of menu he gave us. We say, "No, this only has wine by the glass. We are looking for "bottles". He scurries around looking at menus on other tables and then back for more consultation with bar tender. All the while I see what I think is the wine menu standing up at the end of the bar. Just as I am getting ready to go get what I think is the menu, it appears. And then the long lost server appears. We ask for a glass of rose for me and a bottle of Grgich Merlot for my husband and for dinner. He returns with glass of rose and a glass of red wine. "No, we want a bottle", we say and point to menu. More time elapses, he returns and says, "no Grgich". We had planned a back up and asked for a bottle of Walla Walla Tempernillo. Again point to menu. He disappears again, even more time elapses, and he returns with a bottle of Cabernet from the bar. So, at this point we surrender, deciding he doesn't know where the wine cellar is located, and accept the bottle. Wait. The saga continues: server returns and asks about dinner. We order. He disappears for another 5 minutes. Returns with his order pad and asks again what we would like for dinner. We order again. He appears to write order down. Salad comes. We finish it. Time elapsed. Kitchen server arrives with husband's entree. Places it between us. Bad sign. Another long wait. I tell Phil to go ahead and eat. Flag different server and ask about my entree. Original server reappears. He asks surprised. Hurries off. Time elapsed. Kitchen server arrived with another of husband's entree not mine! "No, we say we ordered steak and fries." Phil finishes his meal. Time elapsed. Finally, my steak arrives. All this time original server walks by and makes no eye contact. Bar tender comes by to clean table and offer a take away box. We decide against dessert and ask for bill. Husband goes to bar to pay bill, consults with bar tender and he goes and gets the manager. Manager excuses. Goes away and returns with new bill that removes glasses of wine and reduces entrees by 50%. The end of our fine dining experience. Laugh ourselves silly all the way to the car. Recommendations: 1. Don't plan a birthday dinner on Monday during the shoulder season at Shore Lodge 2. Just go to Salmon River Brewing Company.

The highlight of the trip was the golf course and their excellent guest service, along with Patrick at the outside golf course bar. We arrived and learned we didn't get the correct room with any kind of view, and the ski lift is broken. I bought the trip insurance but I don't think it covers disappointment. The whole place is CASHLESS. Trying to buy a hot dog on the golf course was annoying as her internet wasn't working, but thankfully she let us play through and pay for it on our way back by on the 13th hole. The only place for dinner Wednesday was Seven Devils. You have to have a credit card to buy a beer and you have to pour it yourself, and pay for the warm foam. It's a ripoff. There was a kid sitting at the actual bar. We each had the chicken gyro that had overcooked, dry, stringy chicken thighs. Our server said she loved them but usually got steak. That option wasn't on the menu and no offer to fix it when we said the chicken was bad. Our beer was supposed to be charged to our gift card, but they charged it to our credit card. Rendezvous was supposedly open Thursday but we were told we probably wouldn't get reservations and we went into Donnelly to eat instead. At the "resort", the pizza place, the diner, and midway restaurant all closed. Didn't check the creamery. Most of the shops seemed closed. They advertise it as a resort with dining and shopping but that isn't the reality. There is no where for a sit-down breakfast. The coffee shop has breakfast sandwiches that are served on a soggy English muffin or plain bagel with no bagel upgrade option as they come premade and are reheated in a toaster over. Since our room water is brown, I wanted a coffee hopefully made with better water and real cream. The website says it's 99 cents for drip but when you get there it is $2.99 for drip. Our floor is sticky and dirty, which is especially frustrating since we pay so much for cleaning. I can't walk barefoot. The clock on the oven started flashing in the middle of the night, after I thought I had set it, and nothing seems to work to set it correctly. I had to cover it with a towel. We set our thermostat to 68 before we left for golfing and dinner, and our room was 74 when we got back and it has a funny smell, like flooring chemicals or something. Tried to turn it down our first night in the middle of the night and couldn't get it to work right then either. It seems very finicky. Our toilet runs constantly but doesn't make noise, just wastes tens of gallons of water a day. There is a dog that barks every time we come and go, but thankfully it is quiet at night. I have emailed the check-in office about all of it and have not heard back. I tried to call and there was no answer. I requested a partial refund and have not heard back either. For two nights our room (studio, not a suite), with no view, brown water, and a funny smell with a toilet that runs all the time was about $650 with fees. Our golfing with club rental was about $460. We spent a lot of money here and expected a whole lot more than what we got for over one thousand dollars in costs. Also, there is no where to buy bottled water after 7 pm. Sevin Devils gave me some in to go cups from the soda gun, but it had the same tint as our room water. I did find a water bottle filler that had a filter and the water looks clearer.
