Not crowded like brentwood. Family owned. Extended family helps out manning the check in stand. They have buckets for you and show you how to pick them. Did not know they spray chemicals on non organic cherries to keep them firm. Makes sense. These ones are organic; no spraying. They are soft but only last a few days. Pick them w/stem on to make them last longer. Bing cherries, they use coral cherries as cross pollinators. The CC trees have lighter green leaves than the bings. they sell cherry trees also. They sell walnuts and soap there also. Good people. They all have side jobs to pay the bills. This is a good year for cherries, I guess because the winter was cold enough to give them enough cold time for hibernation. Season is almost over. If the heat continues then the fruit probably won't make it to the next weekend. Lots of cherry orchards in the general area. There are no signs off the main road to indicate this is such a prolific cherry growing region. makes you appreciate Olson's cherries now that they are gone. The locally produced ones in SCV were much darker and were about 2x the size. Also a terroir flavor that can't be duplicated.

My family and I passed by to pick cherries. The owners were very friendly and took a family picture of us! First time ever and we loved the experience!

Went cherry picking on Burge Road Farm's opening day. We went with a group of 11 & we had a great time. You can tell it's family operated, and I love that. They have a selection of buckets to use and a big lot of cherry trees available for harvesting. I'm not really good at knowing which cherries to pick, but I had fun regardless. The only thing is, it's a little pricey. Their price per pound is $4 & that is a small increase from last year. But you are paying for the experience as well. They accept cash & Venmo which is convenient. At the payment area, they have walnuts & cherry lemonade available for purchase. I must say, the cherry lemonade was very yummy and stole the show for me. I would buy that by the gallon if they had it. Overall, a great experience for all ages.

Super cute, organically grown, and family owned! They always have friendly staff members at the tent when you arrive to help answer any questions. Their cherries are abundant, big, and juicy. If you go at the right time, you can buy a cup of their cherry lemonade, very refreshing, and highly recommended! Love to see local farmers thriving, please go show them some support.

The best cherries ever! Super cute micro farm. A great outdoor family activity. It's nice knowing there's no pesticides on my food or body.

Alpine Blue not only allowed dogs, but had their resident farm dog sitting on the passenger side of one of the carts going up and down the dirt road. This local farm also beats others in prices! At the end of May, only cherries and blueberries were available to pick and everything was $4 per lb except the yellow cherries which were $4.50/lb. What a steal with today's inflation! The 1st farm we went to was way more than this. I like that this farm is widely open and you can explore anywhere you'd like. There were so many variety of cherry trees to choose from and I was surprised how large of an area there was for the blueberries. Not sure if we missed where the ladders were, but some folks near us had one. The place is clean and well maintained. Some paths were full and lush with grass. There were families just chilling and having a picnic in the orchard. Another plus is that it wasn't crowded like some of the other farms; we hardly saw anyone while exploring. They even offer rides up or down the road. All the workers there were so friendly. The sprinklers were on at the time we went, which made it fun dodging water and helped cool us off in the near-90° heat. There were portable washing stations and potties, and a sink by the check-out in case you want to wash your hands or fruit before bringing home. Overall, a great relaxing experience. Huge orchards, unbeatable prices, fresh fruit, and dogs allowed!

I highly recommend this farm for cherry season…read more I went today (Saturday, May 7), which was the first day of cherry season at John Podesta Farms. Why did I rate them five stars? Let's find out. 1 star = organization 1 star = price 1 star = variety 1 star = customer service 1 star = bathrooms Here's the longer version. **Organization** I love how organized they are. You start by visiting their website and getting yourself on the notifications list. Then, when summer gets closer, they send you an initial text gauging your interest. If you're still interested, you get a second text asking you how many people you plan to bring and how many pounds you plan to pick. Then your final text is your reservation with directions, the liability waiver, instructions like bringing a bucket and a ladder, etc. This is the most organized place I've ever picked fruit at. As an organized person myself, I was very pleased. The only piece of information they don't tell you in the multiple communications that would be helpful is that they open at 9am. So, I showed up at 8:15 and had to wait. **Price** Where else can you get cherries for only $2/pound? Nowhere in California that I know of. Even if you add the price of gas for the round trip drive, I bet they're still cheaper. As a reference, they ask you to bring a 5-gallon bucket (you know the ones they sell paint in when you have to paint a house), and if you fill that bucket to the top, it only costs $60. **Variety** I picked only bing cherries while I was there because I was on a time limit, and I didn't have time to frolic, but I know they have bings, rainiers, brooks, and corals. **Customer Service** The owner of the farm is so helpful, upbeat, and friendly. He's got a great vibe that just gets you in a good mood. You can tell he's passionate about the cherries, and that passion is contagious. **Bathrooms** I know, you're probably thinking, who gives an entire star for porta potties? Let me tell you who. The adult woman who has a bladder the size of a toddler's, that's who. And it's not just the fact that they have porta potties that makes me happy, but there's also a hand washing station with soap and paper towels to dry your hands. During a pandemic, that's a really nice touch, don't you think? (worth an entire star, amiright?) So, there you have it. 5 stars for this cherry orchard. I will definitely be back.

I found this local Mexican meat market to try as they grill some meats over charcoal off to the…read moreside in their parking lot. I was going to bring some to a family lunch gathering as to contribute to the spread. First of all this market is kinda on a fringe area of Stockton, on the fringe of suburban living and agriculture living. So this is not a well trafficked, well stocked store. Looks like the store once had a refrigerated produce area but is now all unplugged and vacant in that corner. Not a good look. You can get basic shelf stable stuff here like beans, limited canned goods, sodas and disposable kitchen stuff like napkins. Pretty much what you can get at any mini mart, except this is much bigger in size than a mini mart. Looks like they were once a more full-service grocery store for the farming community but is now being scaled back. There is still a nice meat market towards the back. Nothing is prewrapped, you have to go through a counter person. Very limited offerings that gear towards Mexican cooking. Chorizo, different meats sliced super thin to be grilled (asada), and some things marinated. They did have an impressive selection of big steaks however, which is not really a big part of Mexican cooking. Huge steaks of strip loins beautifully marbled, monster tomahawks and even thick short ribs. Most of those were like $23ish/lb. Don't know why they also carry these primo and expensive cuts as the area doesn't seem to match that market. Unless farm peeps are into expensive beef that I was not aware of. But if I only came here and just got this beef, my rating would probably be much higher. This stuff passed the eye check no problem. But I ended up trying their prepared food so my rating is based on that. I first tried ordering a whole grilled chicken as I've had good experiences with Mexican slow grilled chicken. I usually love how they season and grill. But was told they weren't doing any whole chickens that day, on a nice summer Sunday. Otay. So I went with some grilled ribs that were $10/lb. I had no clue what these entailed but since I was already there, I just did a quick substitute. Ordered 2 lbs., paid, took the receipt outside to the tented grill station and waited. After about 5-8 minutes I was handed a heavy bag. The ribs were cut up and totally stuffed into a single to-go box. They were nice and meaty. BUT they totally weren't grilled or bbq'd ribs. They were boiled (WTF?!), cut, placed in a box and drizzled with cheap bbq sauce over the top. Zero stint over a grill! I was flabbergasted. Lol. I didn't think this could be a thing in today's world (the 60s - 70s maybe) as those days simply weren't as caring or knowledgeable about food. This isn't my area so I didn't have the guts to return this laughable prepared food product. So I just kept it, put it in the fridge at my aunts house and took it home when I left. I did not use it for our gathering, I am too prideful when it comes to treating my family/friends. When I got home I washed off the cheap bbq sauce, cut the ribs in smaller chunks and recooked it with salsa verde I had in the pantry. So basically like Chile Verde. It wasn't awesome but at least I didn't waste money and/or food which always bums me out. Also tried a Vampiro with carne asada ($5/3*) since they also do some taqueria fare out in that 'bbq' tent outside. I ate it there in the parking lot fresh. A vampiro is basically a crunchy shelled taco but the shell is just a flat crisp corn tortilla. The bottom tortilla was the best part, super crisp with good corn flavor. Topped with a good amount of finely chopped carne asada which was nice, and was the reason why I tried this. To try their beef here, since I was just eyeing their nice meat cold case just 15 minutes prior. The meat was marinated so really couldn't really taste the beef on its own. Definitely lime and spices. Then the rest of the vampiro is totally topped and drowning in salsa and crema, so the beef got lost even more. Womp womp. I usually have decent luck when I kinda go off the grid. Not this time unfortunately, a total miss. I would come back and get a steak or 2 from their butcher's counter, but I won't get anything cooked here again. Bummed to say the least.
