Girlfriend had their version of a breakfast burger. I had the bench burger. Definitely a good spot, I just expected a little more out of their craft burgers. Especially at $9 a pop without fries. Place is clean. Food is fresh. Locally sourced concept which is cool. Lots of beer on tap. Great heated patio to hang on a chilly evening :) Service was good. Like i said , nothing wrong it just didn't "Wow" me like I thought it should have. $30 for 2 burgers, 2 sides (tots and onion rings) and a soda is a little much for my taste. A new place for Grand Avenue. It is nice to see something new and different for this part of town. I have tried the food on two different occasions. One was to go and one was dine in. The food is okay. The burger is average and both times were well-done when I asked for medium. The taste is average. The good thing they have going is the awesome tater tots and the truffle fries. I took my mom out to lunch here today , first time we tried it. Interior was cool, lots of good beer choices. I had the Sunrise burger which was great, nice and juicy. Only 2 stars due to the fact that my mom ordered the chicken sandwich and it was way overcooked, chicken was tough and stringy. I did nicely tell the waitress that the burger was great but chicken was overdone, she said" oh sorry" and walked away like she couldn't be bothered! At least say you will tell the cook/chef or give us a coupon for a free beer. The burgers are all 8 to 9 bucks so not that cheap and too much to pay for a bad chicken sandwich. read more

I love it when you can tell the staff actually doesn't hate their job. The counter service was nothing super spectacular but pleasant enough, what stood out to me was when brought my food they realized that sitting next to my friend was her baby in his car seat. This employee asked if we need anything such as ketchup or napkins which stood out to me because so rarely does counter service continue after the counter. So I went here yesterday with friends and I have to say I wasn't disappointed. We tried the parmesan truffle tater tots when we first got there, and they were nice and crispy and a good appetizer size to share. The only thing I would have wanted was a bit more Parmesan, but they were still good none the less. Also had the sunrise burger, which is bacon, egg, hash brown/tatertot, cheese, hamburger and a sauce that I can't remember what it was called. I enjoyed it way more than I though I would. I ate the whole thing it was so good. The only complaint I had was that it was messy to eat, but that's really because of the egg. Next time I want to try their root beer float or one of the milkshakes. They look awesome. read more

Such a hip and unique eatery. They got some delicious flavored soda and it's not the ones you usually would find at a eatery ( like vanilla cream soda, black cherry, etc). First time coming here and my boyfriend and i decided to get the bench burger and sunrise burger. They were pretty delicious, the type of beef they used for the burgers are fresh and amazing tasting. We also got their truffle fries, which truffle fries are always delicious. We ordered our fod to go so when we came to pick it up the the brioche buns weren't soft stuff, but i'm pretty sure it's super yummy if we ate sat down and ate it fresh. Will come back again to try their sliders and grilled cheeses! and i'll deff have to try it fresh next time! read more

We went a couple weeks ago on a whim as my husband had heard good things about it. I looked at the yelp reviews quickly and we did a U-turn from where we were going to go and headed here. We have weekly date nights and usually leave around 7. I saw that they closed at 8 so we rushed over. We were the only ones in line and the person taking our order was very patient as we looked over the menu. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and my husband had the sunrise burger. I ordered some beer than we got a 50/50 combo of truffle fries and tots. My husband is a nut for tots, I don't care for them though so it was nice that they did a 50/50 for us. Service was prompt. They brought out the fries/tots and beer first. I probably loaded up too much before our food came out. My sandwich was really good! I liked the combination of the flavors of chipotle and the apple. It was REALLY hot though. It took me a good 10 minutes before I could eat it because it needed to cool down so much. My husband loved his burger, but slap a fried egg on any burger and it's delish. The place closed while we were there, but the owner just closed the door. We didn't feel rushed and probably left around 8:20. We liked this so much that we came back the next week for date night and this time brought friends. Husband is a creature of habit so had the sunrise burger again. This time I tried the Bench Burger. O.M.G. SO good! I'm a sucker for bacon and bleu cheese though. I ate every last bite. My friend had the sliders. She said that the chorizo was a bit spicy for her but she enjoyed it all. After they ordered they noted that there is grilled cheese and tomato soup which is my favorite combo of all time. I might be getting that next week :) I also have to note that the owner is very attentive. I had sat at the table while my husband ordered so it seemed like I was waiting for a while, but he brought the beers out shortly after my husband came to the table. He apologized and asked if we were waiting for them for long. We kind of laughed and mentioned how my husband just ordered and got to the table. We just moved to Escondido and are thrilled to have discovered this little gem on Grand Ave. Not knowing the area very well, and being a fan for the unique eateries in neighborhoods, this absolutely hit the spot. We went on Memorial day at 4 pm which was a great time to go, not too busy. I got the mushroom burger, my daughter got the fried chicken sandwich, we got half order of tater tots and onion rings and of course, we got the oreo milkshake. I like the vibe and it was a clean eatery. Food came pretty quickly. Grass fed beef burger was very good and I liked the mushrooms and cheese. I really didn't care for the brioche bun. My daughter really liked her fried sandwich and ate it all. Tater tots were nothing special and the onion rings were not very crispy. The milkshake stole the show.
