A local staple for decades near the heart of downtown Escondido. This shop has been in business for a VERY long time, everyone knows about George's. It's been awhile since I've been and wanted to check them out. The menu has definitely expanded from Greek options to burgers, wings and pizza. It was slow and short staffed, one gal at the register and one cook in the back but it wasn't too busy for a quick lunch break run. Food was good, but it's definitely fluffed up by a lot of shredded lettuce, but a decently cooked burger. The fries were good, but I didn't notice too much of a different in the size of a small vs regular fry either.

I hate to leave a bad review because I genuinely really liked this place but this is disgusting! I had to throw away a recently opened salad because I found a dead fly In it and a bug on other side of the salad! Mind you this was about to be the first bite!! Who knows how long that thing was flying around in my food. For a place that charges $25 for a salad, fry and extra ranch (that they forgot to put in the bag) they need to pay better attention to their food and wash the lettuce! Sadly I was on my lunch so I couldn't go back in person.

I've been coming here for decades, and saw they recently started offering pizza. Not just pizza, but Carne Asada pizza, I had to give it a try. I will always love the Gyros from here, and look forward to being on this side of town and visiting them again

    They have a great menu

Food is really good. You have a great mix of Greek and American food. They have pizza, gyros, salads, burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, and all the sides. This place has a small town feel. I didn't catch the name of the girl at the counter, but she was great. We would have made a mistake and ordered a large salad if she hadn't told us how big it was, so thank you, we don't like to waste food. Everything had such a good flavor, I hope we can get back while we are here because I want to try one of the burgers. Great little place

Gyro Sandwich (Partial). This should be thin, but looks like thick carne asada or somethin.

This place was a favorite of mine because the Gyro was always great! The meat was always perfect, and it matters to me! Recently, 2 times out of 4, I would've went somewhere else altogether. This particular time the meat was cut super thick and chunky, only like 2 strips were the right thickness but not cooked well, or to that golden brown perfection. If this is normal for the "Gyro Sandwich" somehow, please let me know so I can update my review. I have ordered this b4 but mostly the get the "Gyro Salad". Seems like meat would be the same tho. Also, I don't remember these little mushy tomatoes either. There was way too much. Seemed like almost half ratio to meat.

The food is alright..pretty good; the man at the front counter is really nice, and service was fairly fast on a busy day. I would definitely come back to try something new! No drive-thru, but lots of seating inside, and the option to-go.

1/4 lb. Burger and side of Fries! DELICIOUS!

We've been here 2 times in the past week or so- that should tell you. We've had the burgers and they are 10/10. The portions are great. We look forward to trying the pizza next.

They serve a fair variety of sandwiches and other little items to buy such as coffee and cookies. The location is small with about a total of 5 seating areas including both inside, and out. For service they're all very friendly since it's primarily the family owners who serve you. You go up to the front and place your order and they'll bring the food you order to your table, they do close early since this is a breakfast spot first and foremost, so expect to arrive early if you want to eat here. I usually order The Works in a half since a full size sandwich is well over $20, excluding any additions or substitutions you may make. The sandwich does taste really good, but it does come at a steep price. They've grown in popularity over the years, which may have influenced their pricing (by a lot) which in my opinion does outweigh it's value. While I do enjoy my infrequent visits, I can say this location is more of an occasional treat, as opposed to a constant meal to be had often.

They have a good selection of beer, milkshakes, and drinks. You order at the counter and they'll bring the food to your table. It's hard to find a burger place with all my favorites: an egg, bacon, and avocado. The bacon was crispy, the egg was medium and wasn't too runny, and the brioche bread was a little sweet and fluffy. They use angus beef for their patties. You can also split your fries which I love! I got to try the onion rings and sweet potato fries. I wish the sweet potato fries were crispy. They were more on the soggy side. The onion rings batter was a lil thicker than I like. The batter overpowered the onion. We also got the Cajun wings to try which was nice and crispy! They give you a few sauces on the side so you can dip it. I got the ranch which was so good with the wings, fries and burger. The milkshakes are pretty delicious! We got the classic vanilla one. It was a pretty thick shake so you know they use legit ice cream! I also liked the peach lemonade. I would check this place out if you're in the area!

We found free parking on the street a block or two down from the restaurant. Service (4/5): You order at the counter and then they bring your food to you. A couple of things stand out to me about their service. I was looking at the menu and was about to order. Someone behind me cut in line without asking if I was ready to order. The lady working noticed this and asked me to order first. Humanity still exists! They also check on your periodically even though this isn't true table service which is a nice touch. On the flip side, they did try and upsell me to add bacon bits to my dish which I was all for until I saw it was a $3.50 upcharge. I asked them to remove it. A little too steep. Ambiance (4/5): My type of restaurant. Casual with some charm. We sat at a table across from the bar. They have some cool decor, too. No complaints. Drinks (4/5): I had a beer flight because I often can't say no to a flight. I love the variety and being able to try new beers, especially when I'm traveling. While they don't have a huge selection, they had just enough beers that were interesting for me to take the plunge. Food (4/5): I did the country poutine which comes with fries, gravy, fried chicken bites, and green onions. I'm a sucker for loaded fries so I couldn't say no. Especially for this twist on a classic poutine. Generous portion size as I had hoped. A little more chicken would have been nice, but outside of that, very solid.
