I can only comment to the women's restroom, but they are fantastic! Each stall is completely private and well maintained! Always nice! I boated there over Memorial Day weekend, and while they did have bands it was nice that there was no cover. Who does that?!? Just another refreshing part of this newer establishment. They did add gas on their docks for boats which they didn't have last year. Fantastic except on this particular day anyway they did not have dedicated docks for boats that needed gas, but rather they would drag the gas hose over other boats to get to the boat that needed gas. Meanwhile the boat needing gas had to hold on to other docked boats to keep it steady while filling up. Hopefully this will not be a practice they continue as it seemed a bit dangerous and annoying for the owners of the docked boats. Their RV campground seemed full and nice, although it will be even nicer once the newer trees grow enough to actually provide some shade. Welcome back Cottonwood Marina!! We got there about 7 pm on Friday night and it was reasonably busy, though most people were already eating. There were several open tables, but only a few were clean, so we found one and sat. Things started off well enough--the server was friendly, told us about the specials, and brought us each a water right away. We ordered our food, and I had ordered mine without onion, as well as a salad. The order took a while--which again, Friday night, somewhat busy, so that's ok. When the food arrived, it was not good. My entree had tons of onion, and even though I removed them, it still tasted very onion-y, as something covered in grilled onions tends to be. It was also not hot, at all, and my fries were not hot as well. My mom had fish with hash browns, and her fish was somewhat warm, but hash browns were not. Not sure how long our food sat after being done, but obviously quite a while. My salad, which arrived at the same time as our meal, had no dressing, and we needed to flag down our server to get it, as she never stopped back at our table to check on us. I ended up not eating most of my entree and just eating the salad. We were very disappointed as we had been really looking forward to the meal, and I feel like if the food would have been prepared correctly--and served hot--it could have been great. Unfortunately, I don't think we will take the chance again.

A step above the standard bar burger. Fries were crispy and hot, not soggy at all. Waitress was very friendly and helpful even to an out of town face. It was admittedly a bit of a drive to get there, but all things considered, not much longer in the car than a trip downtown and there wasn't much traffic! I can't say enough about the quality of the food here - if I could give it more than 5* for the delicious steaks, I would. The service and value were also well above average, justifying the 5* ratings in each area. The only thing that was average was the atmosphere / venue, as the tables were somewhat packed into the room, not leaving much room to get around and making it a bit challenging to navigate your way through to the rest rooms or the bar. With that said, that is exactly where I want a restaurant to excel - food 1st, then service and value...with atmosphere last on my priority list. Our neighbors opted for the Blackened Top Sirloin (see pictures - one showing the beautiful medium rare cook) and Open Face Ribeye (see picture). As the pictures imply, both of them were delicious - and at 16oz & 12oz respectively, there was plenty to bring home for breakfast the next day. My wife ordered the Ribeye Steak Deburgo with cream sauce (see picture) and I went with the Blackened Blue Ribeye (see pictures). As with our neighbors cuts - both of them were delicious and grilled to perfection...and at 16oz each, we had plenty to bring home with us also. The creamy parmesan dip was recommended to us for dipping the fries and I concur - you definitely want to order it with the fries. We found both the Homie (large, wedge cut) and French Fries to be very good, so it depends on your preference. It's hard to beat the quality and quantity of the steaks - at a reasonable price. You'll find it worth your while to take the short drive West from Des Moines on I-80 and give this place a try. Make sure to call ahead for reservations though, especially on the weekends. Loved the inside so Out of morbid curiosity I ordered the recommended Studabaker burger. It was awesome! Wife had the pork tenderloin, and in spite of growing up Iowa, she said it was one of the best she ever had. Only needed Bougies mustard from the quad cities. All in all, a great place to stop, and don't be afraid to try something different. Great people too!
