Yikes! This Zaxby's was a disaster. I lived in Birmingham, AL for a year in 2010, remember going to Zaxby's a couple of times. I wasn't overly impressed but it was pretty good, so it was a possible option for me. We wanted to get a quick lunch, and Roanoke Rapids seemed convenient, but it ended up not being ideal. We were originally going to go to some other place, but realized it was full service and didn't want to waste a lot of time. We wasted like 20 minutes looking around figuring out something, we were desperate and pulled into Zaxby's. This is supposed to be fast food, but I think we ended up waiting a good 30 minutes for our food. We were pissed. Food was pretty good but nothing to write home about either (Bojangles is way better and seeing they are in Roanoke Rapids; we should've gone there! Or most anywhere else). My friend said he would've just gone with McDonald's or whatever he knew, which I adamantly disagreed saying McDonald's is weak, but did acknowledge we wasted too much time with lunch. And I wanted to go to a place we couldn't get in our area. Cook Out would've been quick, but I didn't discover them until 2024 in southwestern VA. Even Diary Queen would've been quick and right by here. I really screwed up with this choice. No way of knowing for sure. Also, parking was a nightmare and traffic getting out of the parking lot to get back onto 95.

My compliments to the chef. The chicken sandwich was average and the spicy one was a little better than the regular grilled but nothing to call the folks about. The service was great as well, workers were quick and efficient and had a great manner. Now you may be wondering "Daquan, this sounds like a great experience! Why only a 4 star review", well the only complaint I have is the restaurant was a little dirty and the floors were quite messy but that's fast food for ya! He even acknowledged he had never made a Misty slushie and did it wrong. We asked him for a refund, to issue a gift card or to cancel the entire order and resubmit it with the correct amount. He told us he couldn't. I asked him to speak with his manager. Treyvon, the manager, came over and rudely told us there was nothing he could do. We asked if they could call their Manager and they said maybe and disappeared, ignored us and stopped talking and avoided us completely. We called the DQ 866 complaint number and the said they would forward the complaint to the manager (who no one could get in touch with). Before leaving, I asked Treyvon, you are saying that if I were to speak with your manager, you would tell him that you do not have an option to fix any mistake you make in the QSR system. That you don't know how to issue a refund, a gift card or cancel an order and resubmit if you make a mistake. He said, yes. We don't know how to do that. I really didn't know what to say at that point other than to leave with the worst and most incompetent food experience I have ever had. AVOID THIS DQ!! If going south on 95, try the one just 20 mins away. If coming north, avoid it. As much as we love blizzards and DQ, it wasn't worth 30 mins of our time.
