Craving blue whale fries...again! There's just something about that rich, fishy yet majestic flavor that hits the spot unlike anything else. As fate would have it, I found myself near a Burger King. My gut whispered, "We're close to the ocean. Blue whales are super easy to harpoon and have the most delicious fat. Maybe the manager here knows what's up and tapped into this goldmine. They are the king of fast food, after all." And thinking logically, fast food restaurants have a long and beautiful history of cooking fries in animal fat... so I promptly ordered a large fry to test it, with $6,000 cash in my wallet (only ones...I don't trust anyone who thinks they're bigger than George Washington) prepared to fill my Prius if they were indeed the BW fries my little heart desired. "Free Willy" the cashier yelled out the name I gave him. I couldn't think of anything else at the time. By this point, I was salivating so aggressively it had already soaked through my whale-themed bib (Moby-Drool) and I felt a fiery droplet trickling into my left belly button. I sprung into action. Had to push several children aside and might have thrown one, but I made it to the counter in less than 2 seconds. I had such hope and urgency with that first bite, I nearly took my thumb and pinky off (I eat different, get over it). Thirty-six fries down the hatch. Chewed twice (well, like 1.5x). And let the taste buds do the rest.... I closed my eyes, picturing Humphrey the Humbpack Whale making his way up the Sacramento River (wish I was around for that ). Waited... Blue whale? Humpback? Common, even (gray)? Nothing. Not even so much as a whisper of dolphin blubber.... I cried the whole drive home to my Swift / Dion playlist. But to be fair, the fries were excellent. Hot. Crispy. The staff were friendly. They just weren't the blue whale fries that true Americans want, deserve, and, frankly, have been denied for far too long. I can only hope our nation comes to its senses and once again embraces the proud tradition of openly serving whale meat instead of forcing honest citizens like me to pursue our dreams in the shadows. I ordered an impossible whopper , received a burger in impossible whopper wrapping but they gave me real meat!! I didn't even notice til half way through I was so disgusted and disturbed as I haven't consumed meat in over 8 years. When I went inside they showed no concern or urgency for this mistake and didn't even insist on a refund as I was asked " do you want a refund? " in a hesitant tone. We point to a table and he wipes the top, and starts to walk to the back, we ask to wipe seats also and he acts out out so he barely wipes the seat but not entirely . First off they didn't give me my card back back. I drove all the way to Capitola before I realized and called to see if it was left there. When I went in to get it back I didn't get an apology or anything. I totally get mistakes happen and I mention that. I wouldn't have written a post if I got any kind of apology for the inconvenience. I have been going to the Scotts Valley Burger King for years. Today (Saturday) I went by for a quick chicken sandwich and was told the only chicken sandwiches they serve are the "hand breaded". Even though they clearly have a grilled chicken sandwich as well as a lightly breaded chicken sandwich. I ordered the original chicken sandwich meal and was given the "hand breaded". There is so much batter, by the time I got to the chicken it was cold. I returned it and was treated very rudely. I simply drove away, giving the sandwich back to them, swearing never to return. BEYOND Terrible Double Cheeseburgers! I ordered 4 double cheeseburgers to go and when I got home I found the burgers were very overcooked, dry and there was 1 piece of cheese instead of the normal 2 pieces on each burger, plus there was no ketchup or mustard on any. 2 of the double cheeseburgers had 2 pieces of meat (still overcooked) but another one had only 1 patty and the last burger had 1 and 1/2 patties!!! I usually stop here to get my kids lunch on Friday afternoons, but lately I noticed the total of my order fluctuating 1$ to 3$ per order and I don't catch it until I'm looking at the receipt later. I was on the road before I discovered how horrible the food was. The fries tasted like old fish and the burger patty was cold (maybe 3 minutes after I had pulled away from the drive-thru window). I find this to be a fairly typical BK. I usually visit the drive-thru. While I like BK food in general, their prices tend to be a little high. I'm more likely to visit this BK (local to me) when coupons are in effect. The only comment I have specific to *this* BK is that while they get all other aspects of your order correct, they HAVE THIS REALLY ANNOYING TENDENCY TO IGNORE YOUR REQUEST FOR NO ICE IN YOUR DRINK. But the first time I came ((just moved into Ben Lomond hi)) they forgot ketchup on my whopper, the second time I came they acted a little off when I said add ketchup to my whooper... saying it comes with ketchup... I made an order online from this place they took my money out. I went there to the drive-through to pick it up. They had two blockers in the drive-through and the front door was locked. I walked around the drive up window, and there was three people in there and they said they had to close it down for a half hour for their lunch because they only get paid $15 an hour but it only takes one cook and one person to give you your order so I'm not sure why they closed their business down for a half hour, but I don't think the management or the owner knows what they're doing but they're ruining your business. It was a Sunday during the Academy Awards it was at 7 o'clock. To begin with - I don't eat fast food very often. I don't like French Fries and I never eat sausage or bacon. That said, I prefer Burger King foods over the vastly more popular (in my area) McDonald's foods. Today, I decided to walk in for breakfast and try their pancakes and eggs. All I wanted was pancakes, eggs and coffee. I looked at the menu on the wall and there is this Ultimate Platter with way too much food, but it includes my 3 items. Below I saw the pancake and sausage platter. There is NO pancake and eggs platter. I noted that is something I have easily gotten at McDonald's many times (but I don't like their pancakes). My order was simple. "I would like pancakes and eggs." Blank stare from staffer. She can't figure out what to do or maybe she doesn't understand English? Then I offer, "How about the Pancake and Sausage Platter, but with eggs instead of sausage?". She gets her manager. I tell him the same thing and he repeats, "Oh, you want to take off the sausage and add eggs!" I said yes. The staffer punches in the order and I add, "And I would like a small coffee". She punches something in and says it will be 19 cents extra for the eggs. I am curious why eggs are more than sausage, but whatever. I did not look at my receipt until after the meal came out to see that I was charged for the Ultimate Breakfast Platter $5.19 (which normally includes sausage, eggs and coffee along with the pancakes, hash browns and a biscuit), .19 for the eggs and $1.00 for coffee. Total $5.95. What I get is the Ultimate Breakfast Platter with everything except sausage. So I paid more to get less food because I did not want sausage AND I got the extra food I said I did not want. On the positive side: Their pancakes and eggs taste yummy and I definitely like your pancakes better than those served at McDs. BURGER KING WEBSITE CHECK: I see you do not offer eggs as a side at any of your restaurants. Pancakes, Hash Browns and Sausage are sides you can order separately. Why not the extremely nutritious egg? Is there some kind of egg shortage going on? If I could order eggs as a side I would come back and get sides of Pancakes and Eggs without a hassle, right?
