    Double Great Burger
    Monty H.

Definitely a local favorite. The interior gives off cafeteria vibes, and you order at the counter. Food does take awhile. However, that's because they literally make each burger to order. The entire time I was there - well before lunch hours - there was a line. The burger was well worth the wait and is much larger than it looks in the picture; I'm sure this place has a loyal following in the neighborhood.

The burger nook started selling their awesome burgers 40 years ago and still going strong today. Establishment is old but awesome with interesting of memorabilia. The tasty Burgers are cooked to order on the flat top grill. The buns are also toasted on the flat grill. I asked for chopped green chilies, lettuce, tomato, onions and mustard. My order of onion rings were fried golden brown - very tasty. The service was friendly fast and the food was delicious.

Thank you Yelp for hooking us up with a delicious burger place. It's not the best place I've ever been to in my life for a green chile cheeseburger, as I tip my hat to a place just outside Albuquerque for THAT nod, but the burgers are legit and worth a stop. It's definitely a mom n' pop place. Locals seem to call it in ahead of time, which is suggested, as time stands still here. If you plan on eating here, get there early as there's only 10 tables or so, and once you place your order, expect to wait as its cooked to order. We had the regular burger and the Great burger. The Great ones are much larger (hence, the word Great and it reflects on the price). The green chilies provides some heat but its not overly spicy. Very tasty. The fries are much to be desired. Limp. And a large is not large. I thought 2 could share a large, and it's smaller than a basket from In-N-Out. Quite disapointing. Would I stop again? Sure, but I'd stick to the onion rings, and call ahead for my meal.

Today my husband and I stopped in the Burger Nook to try the Great Burger and it did not disappoint. Their burgers were so juicy, delicious, and amazing that I am already craving another one. Their homemade fries and onion rings are super yummy too. If you are craving a delicious burger I highly recommend giving this family owned business a try. You won't regret it!!!!

Another trip over to the Burger Nook today. Ya just have to get some every so often. Arrived around 10:45 on a Wednesday when they were not too busy. The pleasant women had my food ready today in around 13 minutes. I ordered the double patty Great Burger with green chile, lettuce, and cheese along with a large serving of onion rings. A can of soda from the fridge was only a buck. The onion rings were good with a crispy batter...not at all greasy. The onions they used could have had more flavor, but overall the rings were good. Rate them a "B." The burger had two patties, not greasy but perhaps a tad dry. The meat was nicely seasoned. A slice of cheddar cheese lay over the meat but was unmelted. Fresh lettuce and flavorful chile accompanied the meat. The chile was properly strained and there was virtually no liquid or grease in the bottom of my basket when I finished my meal. The burger bun had a really good flavor. Overall, this was an excellent burger. Rate it an "A-." Today's dining experience at the Burger Nook was Four Stars for quite good. Casual but pleasant with good food. Every so often I just have to get me some!

In my own opinion it is the best burger and fries I have had in the time I have been in Las Cruces.

We had actually tried out a new place, and were gravely disappointed. Two words, "fake" "meat". So, yeah, with the nastiness of the previous place leaving us yearning for a good burger (other than those from home!), we were in the area after a long day of sports nearby, and decided to grab a couple of burgers. Again, it's not fast food. There were some disappointments, but not deal breakers... 1) The burger patty on my burger was about 2" x 3" It was pretty d TINY!! But...at least it was real meat, lol!! And THAT is what we went there for. The bun? These are homemade and usually very good. The top bun on my burger was hard as a rock. It was either stale to begin with, or microwaved after it was toasted. Not too much of a deal cus I'm low carb anyway, though I had planned on breaking my diet for what I already knew would be a tasty house made bun. So, I wasn't too put off, by having an inedible bun. As it was, the under bun was perfect, and toasted with garlic.... and I DID break my diet for this, which I ate by itself. This bread is tdf! So there's that! Since I planned on breaking my diet anyway, I went ahead and order fries. The fries were not greasy like they used to be years ago. But they didn't seem fresh either, like they were years ago. Not soggy, not bad. I'll let it pass. We don't like seasonings on our fries so we got them "naked", and they were actually pretty good that way. No salt, nothing (though I did, later on pour on some gooey cheese for some nice cheese fries). The burger itself was good. I got the mushroom swiss burger. I'm not so sure that the white goo on my burger was swiss though. I've never seen swiss melt into almost nothing like that before. Perhaps it was grated? Still, never seen gooey almost liquid swiss before. I think it was either "swiss cheese product" (white american cheese), or provolone or something. Would have been nice, like tdf if it had been real swiss cheese. The grilled onions, fresh meat, fresh bottom bun (lol) made this burger. Also, again, I appreciate that they put garnishments on the side. I just ate them straight up, including the giant leaf of lettuce. A good overall meal. So even if Voodoo disappoints in some areas, there's always a treasure somewhere, and it was an enjoyable meal. Take away from this... wish the buns weren't stale or microwaved. Wish the burger patty was a decent size, not slider sized. Wish the swiss cheese was real swiss cheese. Not even gonna say I wish prices were lower, that's a given. My burger with fries was over $15.

We liked that everything was not oversalted so that we could actually taste the food itself. I appreciate the portions for the price as well and felt we got a good value. The service was pleasant. The only thing I didn't like was that after we ordered, we noticed that other people had other foods on their tables... and it occurred to us that there was another menu, maybe a bar menu that we were never offered. Not purposely, but I really wasn't interested in tacos and burritos but would have really liked the nachos or other items on there, so it was a missed opportunity to get something I really wanted and had a more enjoyable experience.

Not only was it cooked perfectly but it was thick, juicy, and utterly delicious. Service was amazing. Family run business and you can tell staff really cares about the customers. I also really appreciate that everything is made fresh that day. No freezers so they do not have any flash frozen foods that they throw in a microwave and call their own. Nope! Not here. Every single thing is made fresh and they donate anything left to those in need. The prices were reasonable too. There is outdoor seating which is great and inside is a little bigger than the outside would lead you to believe. There is also parking across the street if the parking lot is full. I definitely plan to return.

I told him that I wanted a bacon cheeseburger. He asked what I want in it, I told him, mayo, mustard, grilled onions and no tomatoes. Even if I took them out they would have done serious harm. I can't for the life of me how you all are taking an order and writing it down and the cook not following instructions. My friend tried to place an order online but the website wasn't processing the order and when he tried again it wouldn't let him input his credit card info. He called the restaurant and placed the order and then I went to pick it up. We had a hamburger, a BLT, and a large order of fries. With a small tip, the total was just under $30. I remember when an order like this was around $24. The hamburger was ok but my BLT was very strange. The foil wrapper was freezing cold and the top bun was soaking wet. I thought that maybe the lettuce and tomato might have dampened the top bun but that wasn't the case, and the mayo was on the bottom bun. The bottom bun was warm but the bacon was not. It didn't look or taste fresh. It felt like they wrapped the sandwich and then tossed it in a bucket of ice water. I didn't eat the top bun because the soggy texture was gross. The fries were alright but I've never had a bad batch of fries from Five Guys. I don't think I'll be back anytime soon.
