I've taken some time to process what happened before writing this, but I feel it's important to share so others -- especially those with disabilities -- know what to expect. I'm a wheelchair user and had been a member at Primetime for a couple of years. The equipment suited my needs well enough. However, the elevator began malfunctioning with increasing frequency -- breaking down multiple times a month -- to the point where I was once stuck inside it. On other occasions, I made the trip to the gym only to be turned away because it was out of service. Since all the equipment I rely on is on the second floor, a broken elevator effectively meant no access for me. The real issue wasn't the maintenance failures -- it was how management handled them. After several days of trying to reach the club manager, I finally got him on the phone. I made a simple, reasonable request: could they notify me when the elevator was down so I wouldn't make an unnecessary trip? Without any hesitation, he told me this was a "liability" for them, cancelled my membership effective immediately, and hung up. No acknowledgment, no apology, no discussion. I understand that equipment breaks down. What I don't understand is treating a paying member's accessibility concern as something to be discarded rather than addressed. Primetime is already expensive as it is, given how outdated the facility is. My issue is not with the staff or the quality of the equipment. It's the fact that management does not CARE! They do not offer extended notice if they will be renting out the gymnasium. This is an issue that a dozen or so regular gymnasium users have been experiencing. Today, the gym was closed from 5 pm to 7:30 pm, which is the most prime time to play basketball. The issue is not the fact that it was rented out, but that there was no notice other than what was posted at the front desk on the day of. Why am I driving 20 minutes to Primetime if I can't do the one thing I came to do that day? Note to management: Why not post it a week in advance? Why not add it to your classes section on the website? These are the appropriate steps to take if you have a competent management team. It's quite clear that they do not, and it's why this gym is falling behind others. read more

Good Athletic Club There's two swimming pools, tennis courts, gym, etc. I like how the jacuzzis are separated (men and one for women). I mainly use the pool here and it hasn't been any problem. The water is pretty heated and there's always room somewhere for you to do your laps (or practice diving). Staff are also friendly and the space is clean. I'm so glad I joined Prime Time Athletic Club. The amenities are wonderful! The gym is clean, spacious, tons of great equipment, all in working order, they have a fantastic variety of classes to suit every need, step, mat and reformer Pilates, spin, and HITT/strength and conditioning classes. They have two pools, one larger (Olympic training size, under cover), and an outdoors 25 meter pool for laps and water aerobics. A dedicated circuit machine room, and two different weight training areas, and two dedicated cardio rooms with tons of treadmills, bikes, elliptical machine, and stair climbers. The locker rooms are clean, someone's always washing the bathrooms and common areas, towel service and the coffee bar has Starbucks at the ready for when you need a 'bump' of energy. This is definitely an improvement over my former gym which was always dirty with several broken machines each time I went. Yes, it's more for the membership, but it's true, you definitely get what you pay for and there's a fantastic variety for everyone to get their fitness goals and needs met. read more

I would like to bring to your attention my experience with Imelda, the receptionist at Primetime Club. From the very first day of our membership, she has been incredibly rude and unkind to me. She often spoke to me in an angry, dismissive tone, looked down on me, and always addressed me in Spanish, her mother language, even though I was speaking to her in English--something I can only interpret as stereotyping me. What should have been a positive and enjoyable experience turned into a dreadful year. Unfortunately, we were locked into a contract and didn't even have the chance to use the facilities for half of that year. This kind of behavior does not reflect the rest of the staff. I have been a member for 15+ years. Haven't had any interactions with the management but the group fitness instructors and staff at the front desk are the best. Love the Zumba (Vanessa), Cardio/Kick & Core (Mary) and Step (Melinda) exercise classes and instructors...the best, friendly and informative. I've had a very disappointing experience with this fitness club, particularly with the accounting and membership departments. Despite multiple attempts to communicate my concerns and needs, I was met with unhelpful and at times outright rude responses. The staff seemed more interested in enforcing rigid policies than in actually listening to or assisting their customers. What should have been a straightforward membership issue turned into a frustrating ordeal due to a lack of transparency, empathy, and professionalism. I had a pleasant tour with Jerry. I find him to be a valuable asset to the business. I signed up right after (have seen a few clubs by then). Pros - this place is a straightforward club. It has all the essentials you are looking for - the pool is salt based - it got jacuzzi pool, sauna and steam room - it offers reasonably priced private sessions for yoga, Pilates and tennis - plenty of parking around - fee for kids is reasonable Cons - the facility is outdated. It needs some refreshments overall - the pools are outdoor and could be cold. But the pool water is warm. The leisure lane is deep. Watch out for kids. No life guard on duty. - the day I used the steam room, it was cold - towels are old and hard to find - though they have a lot of studios, classes offered could be better (ie no daily yoga, yoga lessons are offered around 9:30 or 10am.... Wouldn't be able to make it while working, only two yoga sessions in PM and only on Tuesday and Wed). My biggest issue with the club is the person managing all the lessons. She has told me that she has been with the club for 25 plus years. Took me some follow ups to schedule one private session. When I put in my suggestions (new member with some comparisons), she kept telling me that is what the policy is. I told her that some policies may no longer work as things have changed so I need to let the policy making people aware of the suggestions. She was not listening and saying I was arguing with her, while all I wanted to do was to send in my suggestions to the right people. I was given one option over a coach that I don't feel comfortable with. Instead, she told me that this club is not the right choice for me and ask me to leave. I agree that if a club is unwilling to listen to their members' suggestions, it is probably not the right choice for the club member and we should leave. Listening is not equal to adopting. But if a suggestion is not adopted, it will be nice to hear the reason. I understand that the tennis pro is only 1 pro over the last 25 years. But what if is not working for your members? What options do you want your members to have? Take it or leave the club? Sending the suggestions to the right people was definitely not an option here through this person (who said all communications to the owner could only be done through her). For class management, most of the clubs have been using online signup options. For private lessons, you could either sign up online or someone get back to you within 24 hours. I understand that this person is working part time (after leaving messages and emails, then take a personally meeting to resolve), but for a faster paced competition, this might not work that well. Everyone else here was very friendly and tried their best. But judging from their looks, I think they understand the type of issues I encountered. I found another way with some help and left the owner a voice message but unsure if they are willing to hear suggestions that are different from their policy. I think the person is likely right this is not a club for me. I am not sure if the person asking me to leave is part of the family who owns the club. But I don't want to be in the club that one person will shut down all suggestions. From other reviews, it took many people to get a rude front desk person fired. This person gives me a similar feeling of the rude front desk person. It is just my personal experience. I agree that a policy should be reinforced. But if a suggestion is made that is different from the policy. Some considerations should be given and re-evaluated. This by no means should be perceived as argument when a different suggestion is proposed. But a firm no and even asking the member to leave (since I want to put in the suggestion at the right level, or asking the policy making person to consider this option), to me is unfair. Been a member for almost two months, the only reason I signed up is because the gym is 5 minutes away from my home otherwise everything is old and dirty, I really enjoyed Zumba, body conditioning and yoga, also the daycare staff are amazing but as today I had a horrible experience at the gym, they said that they were looking for me because my daughter had to used the restroom but she goes by her self, they knew where I was going to be the whole time since you have to sign in and write where you'll be when you drop off your child, whenever they need to look for me they always come and get me and find me I haven't had any issues with that but today when I was walking outside the gym to get my daughter from daycare, there comes a blonde hair women, I guess is the manager or someone from the front desk, she came almost running from behind me and with a rude and almost angry voice tone, screaming and moving her hands and said they called me multiple times to my cell phone when I didn't have any calls from them, she also said that they called me from the speaker i guess they're speaker don't work inside the classes because no one called me and also they have loud music in class like come on I know my daughter is in daycare so if someone had called me I would of gone fast to go check on her but at this point I don't event believe that she went inside the class to look for me, she even had the nerves to called my husband and said that I wasn't in class when in reality I was the whole time in the same room for almost two hours I didn't even leave the class for anything. She continued to have attitude towards me and I had to ask her twice to not be rude to me, people were coming in, and out of the gym and I honestly felt embarrassed and some what humiliated of how can someone like her be treating a client like that, she wouldn't let me talk and every time I would said something she interrupted me and said 'let me talk'. When I went inside the daycare the lady that was taking care of my daughter even apologized to me because she said that there was a miscommunication with her and them. I felt so uncomfortable and I won't be going back I prefer driving a few more minutes away than having someone treat me like if I was doing something wrong. This review is based of service and facility. BUT my end review will have some need to know things which was my experience today on a personal level. I met up with Jerry for a club tour. From the reviews they make it seem like he's rude. But he really isn't he's straight forward getting to the point and mono tone. Basically he's like your serious uncle. But when he sees members he's always saying hi. I signed on their October 2023 promo which was no deposit, 12 months commitment with current month up front and it was prorated. Got in and worked out the same day. I spend my time in the cardio, pool and sauna. Everything is good, it's clean, some of the cardio machines can use a little TLC but most of them are in working conditions. Pool area, so far enjoy going literally early in the morning because no one is there and you able to get a lane to yourself. I've seen the weights area not bad for what it is. I haven't utilized yet. Front desk staff, love them, nice and friendly. The janitorial staff love them, when I see them in the morning, they're always saying hi. Ice maker has been working so far so im good there. Woman's lockers are really clean will maintained Towel service a plus! I go in mind my business and call it a day. ------------------------------ Ok, so here is my personal review. This is to forewarn new members. Well all know certain gyms have this "unwritten, the regular club goers rule". This just happened today. I had to bite my lip REALLY hard on this incident because #1 im at the gym to lower my blood pressure, not elevate it. After my workout, I headed to the woman's sauna, im not sweating, my workout cloths we complete clean everything was ALL fine and clean. One of the members looks at me with disgust "you didn't take a shower", I kindly replay, ummmm I don't need to im ok. She replies "Well im not ok" (my face smirking) I replied well ma'am give me a moment im trying to catch my breath. As I sit in there for 2 mins shes still side eyeing me. I didn't want to argue. Plus im not trying to sit in there bare with just a towel im not that confident or comfortable to be showing my goods like that. That woman is so more power to her. I think im more disturbed that she spoke to me in a rude manner than politely telling me hey us regular members have this little thing about using the sauna. Mind you, I literally read all the signs at the gym on the sauna usage rules. There's nothing on there that says you have to shower before going in there, no rule about you can't have your shoes or workout cloths on. I spoke to the manager who was on the 11:30am shift LOVE HER BY THE WAY! I asked her what is the unwritten rule of the sauna. She informed me there is no rule just you can't go in there if your cloths are profusely drenched in sweat after your workout. So legally I was allowed in there. But if it happens again to call her right away so she can get things situated. So just beware of the sauna vultures, they'll be chipping in your ear if you don't take a shower. The annoying part about going to a new gym theres always that group of people who feel like they own the facility. I pay too much money for something to tell me what to do if she says something again shes about to hear my voice loud and clear in a respectful manner. So far its good. Crossing finger for more successful gyms days, than these ones that I've ran into so far. Oh man! I visited the facilities to see whether it's worth switching gyms to save myself from driving into SF 3-4 days a week. I'm willing to pay a bit more to save myself the drive. But this didn't meet my expectations. It's really more of a recreational club than a place to work out. If you're looking for a place to do weightlifting, then no, I don't recommend. They don't have bumper plates, they have two old squat racks, there's no space for deadlifting. The bench presses are right up against huge unshaded windows, so if you're there in the afternoon and want to bench some weight, you'll be blinded by the sun. For the cost of the monthly membership (currently $145), I really expected more. This is not including the initiation fee, which I was quoted as $99. For comparison, I pay $80/mo at my gym in SF, with no initiation fee or contract. Again, I don't mind paying more if it saves me the drive and they had the equipment, but they don't. If you're looking for a place with a pool and an area to lounge around to catch some sun, then this is the place for you. They also have tennis courts, and from what I could tell, they maintain their equipment pretty well. If you prefer cardio workouts, they have 3 cardio rooms with various cardio machines. Women's locker room is nice and clean. Not much else to say but I won't be switching gyms due to the layout and lack of heavy weighlifting equipment. read more

The athletic club is one of the best in the area. It offers more amenities than most in the area. It was a pool and lap pool, tennis and basketball court (outdoors), and racquetball and table tennis area (indoor). They have towels when you check in. Also, water stations, lounge area for hot water, tea and coffee. You can grab a bit of food at their Starbuck's offering limited sandwiches, pastries, fruit, energy bars, and drinks. Classes Prime Time offers a fair amount of classes. This is offer with no additional cost and comes with the membership. Classes such as yoga, spin, Zumba, and so much more. I always have a smile on my face, because the music is so good and her choreography is so fun. You will get an awesome workout and have fun at the same time. Parking More than sufficient parking - two parking lots and street parking. Members I have to say other members here are friendly when you first join in the classes. They are very helpful. Most members keep to themselves. Locker rooms and showers are nice, and well maintained, so are the bathrooms. The sauna has been broken for awhile. I hope they can get the pairs in to fix it soon. My parents have been members for 30+ years and haven't been going for the say the last 15. They always enjoyed having the option. My mom is sick right now and I called to see about canceling. Jerry was really unhelpful and I was surprised by the lack of empathy for such long-time members. Prime Time is great! Staff is friendly, facility is clean, machines work, people are respectful and its not crowded! Not being crowded is huge for me, i am able to workout and get out. I mainly use the weight room and sometimes wish there were more classes, but for the cost of membership and the other amenities it's not a big deal for me. I have been to Crunch, Fitness 19, and 24 and while I like Crunch San Mateo the location of Prime Time is just much better for me. I joined during July or August 2021 so i cant speak to how the club use to be, but im pretty sure they are still recovering from the pandemic. Prime time is a unique facility on the mid Peninsula so there really isn't anything else like it. read more

we have been members for more than 20 years and we have witnessed different management styles. We raised some issues with cleaning protocol with management during the Covid pandemic on high touch surfaces such as the exercise machines. The person assigned seemed to have no idea what a proper cleaning procedure involved. A video of her activities was sent to the manager so that the individual can be taught appropriate protocol. I was surprised to witness this individual performing the same "cleaning exercise" recently. The same cloth was used to brush FIRST the foot peddles of the elliptical machine, THEN the handle bars. No cleaning agent was used and the same cloth and brushing motion were used to gloss over everything. Members should be fully aware that they have to wipe down the machines thoroughly themselves before using. read more

I contacted Jerry Bruton and asked for partial refund, cancel membership and invoice for gym reimbursement from my company. He was so rude and impatient. One room for jacuzzi. The steam room is small. Shampoo/Conditioner provided in the stalls. Love the Starbucks coffee/tea snack area. Smoothie was good at $5/cup. Con - it's a maze in here. There are stairs walking down to the shower stalls. It's carpeted (brewing bacteria?). You can only get towel at the front desk. One can easily trip/fall since there are stairs going up/down to the shower area. read more

Prime Time has a daycare that gives you 2 hours a day of free childcare while you work out-- thats a plus! The daycare staff is also great! (make sure you give them holiday gifts, they deserve it putting up with all our rug rats!) Their pool is nice and big! and they have fun BBQ's in the summer! (not this summer though) Their free towels are big enough to cover a tiny patch of your body-- and if you are pregnant then it covers less of you... but I digress... But their staff needs serious training in sensitivity to COVID concerns. They are automatically billing members who have been on hold for months due to state regulations that gyms stay closed. If you ask them not to charge, they will "credit" you-- but not refund you. A good way to get some cash influx into the gym I guess. All of the reviews on this website all mention the behavior of a staff member named Jerry. He must be an owner because he continues to work there despite everyone commenting on how insensitive he is and rude to customers. Who knows--- maybe he is one of their investors so he stays on-- I will return to prime time at some point in the future when Gavin says its safe to do so- and cases are not rising exponentially and I feel comfortable in an enclosed space with heavy breathing people working out. But for now, I guess I just have to let them take my money credit for later so they can stay open. This review of Prime Time isn't about the facility or their equipment. Rather, it's their lack of compassion during the covid-19 virus outbreak. Yesterday, when the shelter in place was announced for 3 weeks (maybe more), I figure I won't be going to the gym for awhile and asked them to temporarily pause/ suspend the membership. To my surprise, even during times like this, they will still charge you a monthly fee to keep your account suspended. First of all, are they even allowed to open and give me access to the gym even if I wanted to go? Second, the lack of compassion from the front desk was well, that's our policy and we haven't made any changes. If you live in Burlingame/ Millbrae and want a better high end gym experience/ equipment/ facility but don't mind the drive, PJCC in foster city is well worth the money and the travel. My friend who is member there confirmed they allowed his family to suspend their membership during this crisis without any hidden fees. I was a member for about 10 years as my kids were growing up. Quit for about 8 or so and about a year ago rejoined. I was charged another "Initiation fee" which I thought was a bit unjust and short-sighted, but agreed to it and figured it was part of doing business. Immediately though I saw how Prime Time had changed. The locker rooms were filthy, the equipment was funky and falling apart and the overall vibe just wasn't the same. They offered complementary Trainers but when we booked one, he never showed up. What a flaky business. Trying to book another was almost impossible and in fact, we never did succeed. Overall my customer experience sucked. Finally decided to quit and move on. Last straw, ...you need to give 30 days written notice. Why? I see no reasoning to that policy except to squeeze more money from unsatisfied customers. read more

This gym has a lot of facilities (lots of running machines, different strength machines, multiple squash rooms, basketball courts), a variety of gym classes, tennis courts, and a pool! The service has always been great as well and they have a very fancy set-up in the lobby areas and locker rooms. I don't know what the rates are for this gym as I get subsidized passes from my company. I would love to see more classes in the mornings. Also this gym doesn't have a large weight room set-up or an area where you can do your own set of exercises on a matt. I usually end up doing it where the machines are and it is quite crammed in there. Also, I'm giving this only 4 stars because the women's bathroom is always in a terrible mess. The toilets are disgusting and I always try to never have to use the bathrooms. read more

Honestly, this BS about charging my account during shutdown was so unethical .. Reading all these reviews it seams unanimous.. First off this Jerry character is a real peace of work .. I asked why my account would be charged for the $105 fee when I had ZERO updates from them about reopening and to just assume that I want to go back to your gym during a pandemic ?? WTF! I run a service oriented business and 101 biz is to keep your clients engaged and informed.. {why wouldn't you email your guests b4 charging them} PT response { we didn't have enough warning from GOV to send out emails} {We have it posted on our website} First off its called Email blast! Your telling me they don't have one person in the office that is competent enough to form a newsletter and email it out? So its my responsibility to check their website consistently ? I put my account on {freeze} they charge me $25 a month! So i called to cancel and it was like buying a used car from a slimy sales man Well you have to send in an email to request cancelation then we have to unfreeze then reactivate your account then cancel and you will be charged $85 to your account for canceling BLAH BLAH BLAH!
