This one is on the smaller side, I just really like that this one is in Austin and not a whole plane ride away. So, Daisos are basically little Japanese versions of a Dollar General with a smaller food section. Lots of cute little gadgets, decor, stationary, tchotchkes, and of course snacks. Service is fast and friendly, can't ask for much else. Everything is low priced and most of the items are pretty useful. Note: nearly everything is priced in yen and items without a price on them are less than two dollars. There are little signs all over showing you the conversion for the listed price, so no worries there. We ended up purchasing snacks and I snagged myself a little roll of blueberry washi tape. I know I didn't need to buy it, but it called to me from the basket of stationery. I have already tried it out, and it's gorgeous.

This Rack location has a decent selection. Most recently went shoe shopping with my boyfriend and he found exactly what he needed. Sometimes the store seems a little messy and chaotic with merchandise not displayed properly. It seems customers and employees just kind of let merchandise get tossed about. Other than that, good place to shop for better quality clothing and accessories at discounted prices.

So I made the mad dash to Nordstrom Rack Saturday morning. I walked in with low expectations, fully prepared to hit multiple stores before finding anything close to what I needed. Instead, I found the most gorgeous Badgley Mischka crystal pumps. They're slightly bigger than my normal size, but that actually works in my favor. They're comfortable, my toes can move, and I can already tell I won't be plotting my escape from them halfway through the evening. While I was there I grabbed a strapless bra and even found a formal bag that works better than the clutch I originally planned to carry. Sibyl at checkout was the perfect finishing touch to my morning. Friendly, outgoing, and genuinely helpful. Historically, it was a day when wealthy families gave boxes of gifts, or money to those in need. Churches also collected donations and distributed them to the poor. I first popped into Dillard's to see if they had wildly awesome items to purchase...on sale. Dillard's had a wide variety of items to select from at reasonable prices....clothing, shoes, purses, nightwear, holiday items, etc. I did not find anything that tickled my fancy, so I moved on to plan B...store #2. Every department I visited had an extremely helpful sales associate eager to help you.

There's usually someone nearby to help if you need it. The times I've been the lines don't typically get too long, and when they do the staff is quick to open up new registers and move everyone along. I'm a big fan of the home goods section, there's usually something there that will catch my eye. Though I don't always take it home with me. That and the beauty section are where I spend most of my time. It's a Marshalls so the prices are reasonable. Good spot if you have time to browse and don't have anything particular in mind to get.

Nevertheless, I go at least once each month to scavenge through the aisles, and 5/10 times I find something good! I went the other day and found some awesome puppy toys and other goodies for pets. Random chip and popcorn flavors are typically available. Plus there are the syrup flavors! You can typically get a zero sugar syrup for coffee or other drinks. So I want something thin that has some wiggle room to flatten out. I saw only 2 that I liked and fit the sizing I liked, but they were still $80. I think I'll keep looking. The store is well-organized with placards delineating key sections of the store. Uptown Cheapskate carries vintage clothing, men and women's clothing and a variety of shoes as well as accessories. The store does not appear to be in "junk" mode as the pieces appear clean and presentable. Racks are sorted by type and style. While there was a Versace blouse displayed on the wall, I did not find any other upscale pieces. The brands tended to be more mainstream and not distinctly upscale designers. You can also sell clothes at Uptown Cheapskate. Bring in items that are in good condition and trending, and they will give you cash on the spot or a somewhat more in store credit. This is a great option for clothes sitting in your closet...waiting and waiting...for you to release them. Smile. Prices were reasonable, yet not deeply discounted. However, you could not tell this by the large meandering queue at the cash register. I picked up a couple of items to purchase and was then totally discouraged by the length of the queue, so I put my items back.
