First you are treated like a criminal on the way in. The stop you and video you in case you steal. What the actual what is this? So much for a relaxing time shopping. The store is a disaster. Messy. Unkempt and No staff at all to be seen. On check -out 100% for real- it was 27 minutes on line. They had not less than 15 people in line all the times and only one tragically overworked cashier. He did what he could be he was in overwhelm. It would help a great deal if the manager came out and simply told the people in line they were two people short today and they were doing the best they could. They didn't care about out us at all. Three people in line left and simply dropped their would be purchases on the floor. I chose not to do that as the pair of shoes I had was the exact thing a friend wanted and they were perfect. So I waited like a cow with the rest of the in-cared for cattle. This place has gotten worse and worse over time and I just am not sure it is worth my time to be treated rudely on the way in and then to not be cared about on the way out. Just terrible. read more

The checkout situation is appallingly bad. It's 3:15 on a Monday afternoon. It's not full at all and the line is short. One woman has had the same customers at her register all of 20 minutes and keeps pausing to help another incompetent employee at her register. Finally, after 30 minutes, two other women showed up to help customers check out. I have no words? Come here if you have all day to waste. Also they put price tags over other barcodes so you can't scan products to see if they have toxic ingredients. That eliminates the option of buying any beauty products here, ugh. read more

I like to browse this place when I eat at the nearby Himalayan Cuisine, or when I need a dress shirt or jacket in a hurry. I remember I bought a nice pleather jacket here over a decade ago, then for a couple years they had absolutely no men's jackets. But they brought back the jackets. They have more Ross-like items now, so I picked up Guess Seductive Noir (with included body wash) and Tobacco & Tonka Bean by Banana Republic. Both only $20 each. Also got a couple real nice party/dress shirts here, one of them gets a lot of compliments. It loses a star for the incredible slow line, there are a ton of customers though. Worst service ever! I bought a suitcase and on my first trip 3 wks later, a wheel split in half in the airport parking lot. Burlington refused to refund my $68 "because you traveled with it." That's the whole purpose of a suitcase! They have no customer service desk so I had to wait in line an hour. The manager also refused to refund my money, refused to give me contact info for the manufacturer (which isn't online) and gave me a customer service number that's disconnected! I've filed a dispute with my credit card company which has issued a temporary credit. Having to carry the heavy suitcase hurt my shoulder, which has permanent nerve damage,and also cost me a chiropractor visit but Burlington doesn't care. I shopped here for a couple of swimsuit items but never found what I needed. The swim inventory for women is low right now, which is understandable. I normally try to hit up the stores around this time for end-of-summer deals. They have pretty much everything else at this store. I particularly like the selection of purses and housewares. They have a designated juniors section, which makes it much easier to shop for my teenager. We like that part much better than Ross or Marshalls. Prices can be low but some items are not great quality. Overall, we like to come here and we will be back. read more

I would not even give this place a star! I was there 7/29/2023, shopping with my kids, we went into the fitting room to try on clothes. As I was pulling up the jeans I felt something stab into my skin on my right upper thigh. I screamed & called over the associate to help me & she had to pull it out of my skin. She was very apologetic & told me in fact this is not the first time this happens & to please go speak the the manager. I go to speak to the manager they had to call her over. She walks up & says "Hi how can I help you" I said I'm the woman who got stabbed by the security pin" she says "oh okay what do you need" ... first of all this is not the correct way to approach someone who got injured I'm your store. So I said " I need to file a incident report & want to escalate this further" she said "ok let's go upstairs to the training room & I will give you the report & some bandaids" We meet her there she leaves us in the office because she needs to find the papers. She took nearly more than 25 minutes, mind you I have my 4 children with me & they are all upset at this point. She comes back in & apologizes saying she couldn't find where they where. So I fill everything out, my son is crying & sad & even tells her " my mommy got stabbed by the needle I'm scared for my mommy" & the manager was just trying to tell him I'm okay. I proceed to take pictures of the report for my record & get up to go out. She then says " oh I know it's not much but I can give you 15% off your purchase today. At this point I'm boiling in anger. Do you think 15% is going to buy my time, my pain & my sons trauma back from this? I proceed to the cashier, to top it off the cashier had a nasty attitude with me. The other associate tells her to give me 15% off & she rolls her eyes & says well I don't know how to over rice that. She then got real nasty with me because I was touching the pin pad as it was frozen & she tells me " stop touching the pin pad it's just frozen" & then when I gave her my number for rewards she was being very disrespectful mocking me because she couldn't hear what I was saying. At 3 am I ended up going to the er because I began to get a rash & swelling, they have me the tetanus shot & antibiotics because the doctor believed it was getting infected with the small bumps coming through. Something this serious should be taken very seriously & right away. This could have happened to my child or any child then what would have they done? This was handled very poorly. I recently been to Burlington coat factory and hadn't been there in years. I decided to look at shoes or jewelry. I was ready to checkout and had been standing in line for 10 to 15 minutes with other people in front of me. Finally the people in front of me was their turn. They had a lot of clothes they were buying so it took time. This poor cashier was the only one with at least 15 people behind me. I finally shouted we need more cashier's and it took at least 10 more minutes other customers started shout too before to more cashiers showed up. I've come to realize that you may be able to find better deals at Macy's. Okay Macy's is overall more expensive but there are a lot of deals at Macy's. This is a huge location with two floors. They have name brand items but make sure you check them because sometimes the item may be irregular or the quality just isn't the same if you were to buy it at a JC Penny's or something. The clothing section, at least the ladies, is always in shambles, but that is the customers' fault, the clerks are constantly trying to keep up with the messes. The prices are good if you find what you are looking for. I have bought swimsuits here for a third of the original marked price. I try to remember to look here first for household items. They had lavender toilet seats when nobody else did! Very pretty lingerie all under $10ea, Sheets, curtains, towels table cloths etc are very low priced if you find the size and color you want. I was here tonight looking for a new tablecloth for our dining room table (lavender, of course) and found one. I ended up doing a little clothes shopping and bought two new skirts and slips to go under them. Couldn't find a top I liked though. Don't come right after Christmas--the lines of returns are out the back door! And I wouldn't call them wheelchair accessible--two people can't even pass each other down some of the aisles! read more

This place is short staffed, most of the time the fitting rooms are always closed because of this reason. Because of this it affected me as a customer. I came in and bought a few things. A shirt i bought didnt fit so i came back a few days later to return it. When i got to the store there was a man yelling at one of the managers, turns out if the burlington tag is not attched you cant return it even if its unworn, and if you have the receipt. When i got to the cashier i was not allowed to return the shirt because it was missing the burlington tag. I had the receipt and it was not worn it even had the brand price tags still attached. The shirt is a plain white shirt that says Beetlejuice on it with a image of a snake. The reciept clearly says "BEETLEJUICE SNAKE" and i was still not allowed to return it. The tag either fell off when they took the sensor off when i was buying it or when i tried it on at home. Make sure you keep an eye on that price tag or else you will be stuck with whatever you bought they didnt offer store credit either. Please hire more people to keep the fitting rooms open. read more

I usually dread going to department stores or fashion outlets. Rummaging for something to wear. Fighting for parking. Dealing with big crowds. Are among my least favorite things to do in life. Fast forward to the Burlington Coat Factory. They have a huge parking lot. It took me only two seconds to find a spot to park. Next, going into the store. I was amazed how well organized the store was for the store's size. The building is huge. Having two floors, we easily found things we were looking for. Every department being labeled and clutter free. I found the shopping carefree and enjoyable. We ended up getting some wall art to decorate our house as well as my favorite hot sauce. Never imagined finding hot sauce here. Let alone the hot sauce I crave and at a great price. Overall my experience was good. Store is clean, well organized and open. Having room to move. I didn't feel cramp or claustrophobic. Found some great things at good prices. I would shop here again. A lot better than some other places selling the same items- clothes for men, women and kids, baby merchandise, home decor, snacks, condiments, jewelry are a few things they sell there. If every department store or fashion outlet was like this place. I wouldn't mind shopping for clothes as much. Burlington Coat Factory is a winner. read more

Found the shirt had decent shoes. grabbed t shirt then the line was long like 20 people in line. then i looked and they only had 1 register open. Great place to get some cheap stuff! I was in dire need of updating my clothes and other stuff that I wear so I went to Burlington. I first came in March of 2022 to shop for clothes and I found good quality clothes at a cheap price. The store unlike Ross is very organized and clean the staff there is always willing to help you search for something. I've gotten so many clothes and house decor from Burlington I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a store that has items fir a cheap price but good quality. The only thing that is a negative are the lines which can be very long I waited for 20 minutes once in line. read more

Two words for you: TWO STORIES of deals! (Ok, that was more like four). Anyhow, Burlington has similar items as your typical retail discount stores, it's just bigger, which means more merchandise. The prices seem slightly higher than the other discount stores, but not by much. I love the shoe selection here. I like shopping at Burlington since they have everything here, from clothes to shoes for kids women's and men's. Jewelry, accessories, shoes, furniture, house stuff, decor and the list goes on. It's always affordable prices too! This location is always a hit or miss since sometimes (clothes wise) I find something for myself. For my kids and husband it can be tricky especially for my husband since the sizes are not fitting my husband well and the styles are just so blaźe, in other words by his style. I can always count on this spot for my dog necessities so I really Like coming here. I also get some decor and kitchen necessities too. It's a very big store, a main floor and second floor. They keep rearranging everything so I get impatient to actually look through the racks. When I'm trying to kill time, while waiting for my kids from school, I'll diddle-dawdle in here. The staff are friendly and helpful when you need help but I hardly see them on the floor when I'm shopping. Last night, after my family & I were finished eating at el torito, we went to go look around & browse to see if they had anything good. Currently, you have to be let in & out of the store by security or loss prevention, I'm assuming due to theft. The store was packed with 1 or 2 cashiers so it was busy, per usual. We weren't buying anything so we went underneath the rope instead of WAITING TO BE LET OUT OF A STORE, which is CRAZY in itself. So the loss prevention staff his name is ADAM, an over weight, balding, Hispanic male, states to me & my family after he sees us go under the rope to let ourselves out, he states "oh y'all don't jump over anymore? I thought y'all jumped over". My boyfriend & I looked puzzled at each other like who is this "yall" you're referring to? I asked Adam over & over again who is "y'all" and of course he didn't answer the question to clarify he just kept saying "yall, I'm talking about y'all". We're an AFRICAN AMERICAN/BLACK FAMILY so of course we took it as him referring to black people, trying to be funny about black people hopping fences & over things. We proceeded to go back in the store to ask for the manager & how to file a formal complaint against him for this blatant racism. We are residents of La Mesa we live 2 minutes away from this Burlington & often patronize this establishment. I don't appreciate this type of treatment because when we came back in the store, Adam kept laughing in our faces like it was funny & he got a good chuckle out of this poor excuse of a joke to people he doesn't even know. First of all... I'm not sure if the address listed on Yelp and Google is wrong but WTF? My Google Maps and Waze app will take you to the wrong location with the El Cajon Blvd Address.. Try searching the El Torito Restaurant right next to Burlington on Baltimore Dr. My GPS could not find Burlington for some reason and I was about to give up and drive off and by chance I passed Burlington on my way to the freeway. This store is huge, it's 2 levels but it's not exactly full of inventory. There's a lot of empty space. Went here with Maridel to look at baby stuff. Everything here is super cheap. We saw this elephant baby mat at Baby's R Us for $50 the exact one was here for $12.99! What a steal what a deal! They had a lot of great brands at HUGE discounts! They even sell cribs, strollers, car seats etc. I didn't get a chance to look at their women's clothing but maybe next time. read more

But I enjoy shopping at Burlington because they carry a Large selection of Dress Shirts and Pants and different types of Coats plus Toys and also lots of cool Sports Apparel and Hats here very similar to Marshalls and Ross !! This is your normal Discount store for Ladies , Men's , Kids , Baby , Home or anything your looking for a good price . My overall view is this location is ok !! Clean store . I am going to average out several visits. I've been there when I felt they deserved 2 stars. I've also Been there on 4 star occasions. I've been there when I couldn't pay someone to assist me. Other times I've had employees begging to help. I've been there and found some very nice items. I've been there when I couldn't find a thing in the store I wanted. My friend went to this Burlington location today, Tuesday 04/05/22, at 5:30 pm. When he was there he asked the manager, Kim, if he could set aside four pairs of pants near the fitting room and come right back in a minute to try them on; because he forgot his wallet in the car, so he needed to grab it. The manager Kim refused to allow my friend to set any of the pants aside. Kim basically denied my friend service just because of a minor, yet easily solved inconvenience. I love Burlington: the company is wonderful and I really enjoy shopping at the different locations. However, I will never do business at this particular Burlington location in La Mesa again, because the manager Kim is extremely unprofessional; and it is inexcusable for a company to hire such an unqualified person to deal in customer service. I used to not care much for this Burlington Coat Factory, and had a better time shopping at the Clairemont Mesa location. Key words: used to!! This location very recently renovated their interior and completely stepped up their organization game. While there are still some holes in their organization, the renovation has dramatically improved my shopping experience. Their investment shows, and I hope that staff/customers keep it up, and if so -- that their investment pays off for them!! So I went to the back of the store to take a picture of the table with all the socks with the sale sign "5 pairs for $9.99" to show it to the manager and the manager who happened to be an older African American lady in her late 50's then told me to leave. My mother just came back from the Philippines and she had asked me to select a purse from the assortment she had bought that were sitting in her giant suitcase. I told her as politely as I could that I didn't need a new purse and that she could just give all of these to her friends. She said, "Are you sure? Oh well okay." She then picked up my purse that was sitting next to me and hung it on her hand in the air. She said, "Ooh, look at your purse it is so pretty and it even has a pocket for your cell phone." I said, "Well you can't have it. I bought it at the Burlington Coat Factory." My mom asked, "Will you buy me one?" I said, "You have all of those purses in there!" She said, "All of those purses are ugly! I just bought those because my friends asked for them." I laughed and said, "Thank god because I was thinking the same thing." I took my mom to this Burlington Coat Factory location because it was the closest to my auntie's house. My mom selected a white purse and a fancy t-shirt for work after she had to run all the way to the bathroom towards the back of the store. I had never seen my mom run so fast in my whole life. We get in one line to pay and the cashier tells us that the line is debit or credit only. We get in another line because I wanted to pay cash. We got stuck behind three women who had to have a price check on every baby outfit known to man. I said loud enough for the world to hear me that "We will never get out of this store! What kind of backwards ass place takes debit or credit before cash?" The woman behind us must have felt the same way because she dropped her clothes and stormed out of the store.
