Awful experience. Brought by car in for an oil change. 6 days later after conducting their complementary inspection they had apparently found $13,000 worth of damage (they said $5,000 of repairs needed to be fixed immediately). For context I had purchased the car used from Oliver Subaru in Rutland less than six months prior. The following week I drove it back to Rutland Subaru thinking they scammed me. Turns out BTV Subaru has a history of telling customers this....Rutland gave me a loaner car for free and looked the car over. Three days later I found out there was one issue with the car and I drove away only paying $600. I can't stress this enough - do not trust Burlington Subaru without getting a second opinion!!!!! read more

Had a very disappointing experience at this location: 1. There was an issue with the engine of our Subaru, so we had it dropped off at our local Midas, right away. After a diagnostic showed a serious coolant issue, we had it towed to Burlington Subaru. Their diagnostic revealed a coolant leak that wrecked our engine, which was surprisingly designated as 'normal wear and tear', even though our car was well taken care of, under 100,000 miles, and we owned it for only 4+ years (it was about 8 years old). We were told that the engine needed approx. $8,000 worth of repairs. 2. We didn't receive a loaner vehicle for the 3 week period when our undriveable car was at the location (waiting to be seen, waiting for an investigation from Subaru costumer advocacy, working on a new lease), necessitating an over $1,000 bill for a rental vehicle. 3. The Memorial Day sale advertisements for great lease values from this location were misleading and inaccurate. 4. We were in the process of completing a lease for a new vehicle (our old one was worth only a little more than what we would have to pay in repairs). I was out of town doing this remotely and my wife and daughter were in VT, so we were in a difficult situation. We were at the finish-line on a Wednesday after almost a week of working out the final details, and I was going to drive up on Friday to finish up the process and sign for the lease... when the car in question was sold out from under me. The salesman did not apologize, and sent me the figures of the expensive car I originally told him I didn't want. This necessitated me starting the whole process from scratch. 5. I was offered a $1,000 trade-in value (as it had to be sold 'wholesale'): I ended up selling the old car for $3,000 at a nearby used car dealer (which is what I'm sure this dealership would have done). 6. I was given a short deadline to remove my car from the lot, after being screwed over in the lease process and having to start from the beginning. *Absolutely terrible experience. Luckily, I had the complete opposite experience at Ramsey Subaru in NJ: night and day. read more

I have been to this dealership 3 times in the past few months due to a number of different problems simply brought on by my cars age. Every transaction has been smooth and worth the money. I got a bump on my tire, and they had plenty of mine in stock and were able to change it within 24 hours, giving me a loaner car at no extra charge. What really brought me to make this review was how sweet one of the service administrator's is, her name is Ashley Lackard. I was struggling to find my up to date documents due to quite the headache and she went out of her way to look up my registration and print it out for me to have for the future. She was entirely understanding of my space cadet moments and just overall a lovely experience. 12/10 customer service skills and service. read more

I went in to get my car's air conditioning serviced because it wasn't getting cold anymore. They checked the AC, and replaced the compressor which was a pretty pricey fix but I figured it was worth it to have my AC back. Except, whatever fix they did, didn't address the problem and 2 minnutes into my drive home the AC wasn't working again. I turned around and brought the car back only to be told that there was some other problem they didn't see before and it was going to cost me an extra $1,200 to fix. Its a literal scam. If they told me to total cost up front I would have shopped around or not getting it done. But by only feeding me bits of information they made sure I would have to pay and get it all done. Don't be fooled by them being a dealership, they are just a shady as any other independent garage. read more

Our 4 month old 2024 Subaru Forester's AC would only blow heated air. Buriington Subaru had the vehicle for 3 weeks straight and replaced some parts. Repeatedly strung us along continuously implying the service would be done any day now. Picked up the vehicle and 3 days later the AC would not work and we could see that parts of the dashboard were now misaligned. Took it to another dealer who in 2 days replaced the condenser and multiple 'O' rings and AC is now fine. We discovered however that the heating system would not work properly. Without taking the system apart, he could see that the blower assembly had been badly damaged and screws in places were missing or in the wrong places. The problem is that he can't bill Subaru to fix work that another dealer messed up and he sees at least 1500 dollars in repairs. I don't want to go back to Burlington Subaru so I will see if Subaru will take care of this or defend an incompetent dealer. read more

This review is long overdue. Breaking this down into 2 departments. Service department: They will replace parts that are not even broken in order to charge you more. They don't even do full diagnostics before sending you back on the road, just enough to sell you something you didn't need. They will up-sell you services, and not even wash your car as promised. The list goes on... but I will keep it brief. Sales: Only dealt with a couple guys back when I was looking to make a purchase. They were cocky and arrogant. It got to the point where I ended up traveling miles to another dealership in order to get a better experience and make a purchase. I strongly believe in shopping local, but unfortunately I have had too many negative experiences here. There's only so much trying again and again with an open mind you can do, expecting to get a different experience. read more

I have been a customer of Subaru's service center for 3+ years. As a woman and a teacher (with significant low income), I feel as though they try to take advantage of me by uncharging and "highly recommending" services that have nothing to do with the actual problem I am facing. I continuously asked for a formal diagnosis, to which they replied they were unsure or couldn't find it within the 1 hour technician test drive. Somehow I still walked out paying over $800 for what I thought was causing my issue. 6 months later and I'm facing the same problem but much worse. My favorite part of this whole experience is that they sent me a text message stating the required services (before calling me) that totaled over $3000+... now I am waiting to pick up my car after having to take off time from work in their waiting area where they told me it would be ready to go (wrong again). read more

I used the "Express" oil change service today. Four and a half hours later my car was ready! Service rep Jason told me it would be 2 hours, which seemed like a lot, but I said OK. He was 125% wrong! How can a reputable dealer not have a system in place to tell them how much work was ahead of mine? Well I know that they do. So that means Jason LIED to me to keep me there. After 20 plus years buying and servicing cars at Burlington Subaru, I am DONE and will never return. read more

I bought my baby here in late January 2018 (it's a slightly used 2015 Subaru Crosstrek) and I have to say for a first time car buying experience it was pretty painless (while still being painful because buying a car is stressful). I've had no problems with the car and love it! I'll be taking my Crosstrek here for maintenance since I bought it from them and it's a super convenient location. The service department is the worst! There's a long wait for an appointment, they don't return phone calls, have made appointments and shown up to be told that there was no appointment. Waited two weeks to get an a/c repair under warranty done. My most recent issue with new car could have easily been solved by talking me through the very simple solution over the phone. (Turns out the seat belt has to be latched or the parking brake won't disengage), but instead we had to call a tow truck. Argh. I wonder there's another dealer. read more

I bought a certified outback from Burlington Subaru.  I was misled and dismissed from the beginning.  Among many other problems, the car I bought had been in an undisclosed accident, and the customer was a nightmare.  BUYER BEWARE. I live in ny, but I wanted to buy it in VT because i'm from Burlington, and it felt comforting and safe to buy a car there.  I couldn't have been more wrong The car was a total nightmare from the start. Despite spending 20k on a "certified" car, it was nothing but problems. The first time I tried to drive the car, it wouldn't start. It turned out the battery was totally dead, and needed to be replaced.  When I called Subaru, I was told that the battery wasn't covered under the "certified inspection." Another problem was my phone connecting to the car.  When I purchased the car, I told the salesperson that one of my main priorities was my phone being able to connect to the car to play music, and to charge.  I regularly do long road trips, so it was crucial for me to have this connection.  One of the main selling points for her was that I get a certified car, so if the bluetooth stopped working, it would be covered.  From the beginning, my phone had difficulty connecting and charging.  After many trips back to the dealership, I was informed that it was a problem that could not be fixed, and that Subaru knew about the problem before I bought the car. Lastly, I had a lot of problems with the rear of the car.. lights going out, the back hatch not securing.... a mysterious noise coming from the back... I spent a few hundred dollars fixing and replacing pieces, never knowing why I had this problem, until I went to trade the car in at a different dealership.  There, I was given a carfax report and informed of an accident the car had been in before I bought it.  I was shocked.  This accident was never mentioned when I bought the car, and I was never offered a carfax report. When I called Subaru to ask about this, they said I signed a form denying a carfax report.  I can only assume that this was in the stack of paperwork I signed when I purchased the car, but I know a carfax report was never verbally offered. I called Subaru several times to try to make the situation right, but because of the undisclosed accident, the trade in value of the car went down $1,500.   At the end of the day, my calls went unanswered, and I lost the money. Overall, buying this car was a terrible experience. I'll never buy a Subaru again, and wouldn't recommend anyone purchase a car from this dealership. read more

My opinion of this dealership is that my experience was very poor. I have bought TWO brand new cars from them and they totally abandon you after the sale. The sales process was painful with the usual dealer tricks and major lack of transparency, mystery fees, lies about dealer cost vs. MSRP vs. dealer hold-back, "you're taking all profit from us", and all the other usual nonsense arguments. Picking up the car was the only non-miserable part, that person was nice. This dealership doesn't give you the time of day after the factory warranty period of 3 years is up. EVEN if you have repairs approved while in the warranty period. The service advisors are short and dismissive, and the service manager is equally uncaring and avoids phone calls like the plague. Additionally, both of my brand new cars had bubbling rust on the rear quarter panels within 3 years. Dealership doesn't care since the holes didn't perforate the metal.............yet. This dealership lost my personal and family LLC business over refusal to provide me documentation for work they claim to have done which I don't believe they did because the factory told me a fix was not yet available for the particular problem. Additionally, they ordered me some parts under warranty and never called when they came in AND failed to install them when my car was in there for other service. Parts apparently doesn't talk to service. It is because of their internal incompetence that I do not have the parts that I am entitled to under warranty. Every dealership gets a good will allowance from the brand to help out a customer here or there, not to mention doing the right thing. This dealership betrayed my trust, dismissed my valid concerns, provided poor service, and chose not to provide a $28 part approved via warranty, but not claimed until after warranty due to their internal screw up. I will go out of my way to buy elsewhere and to encourage others to do the same. I truly hope them keeping their good will money and my $28 part is worth more to them than my business. *** EDIT: They also sell your information to various 3rd parties. I have been swamped with extended warranty robo calls and spam mailings. Also a few SPAM emails. They have repeatedly failed to honor do not call instructions and to be removed from all mailing and call lists. read more

You really need to have an appointment! They don't seem to take in account any other services people may need. If you don't have an appointment be prepared to leave your car there for a week. They performed the service we needed but it's very pricey. Personally I don't think I would go back to this dealership unless I had to. read more

Went in to drop off our car for the yearly emissions test to get the sticker, etc. Showed up early but didn't have all the info (it's my husband's car). So, Ashley hooked me up with a shuttle home and said to just email her the info and they'd get the car all up and inspected. I get home, email her the info, she calls me to tell me she got it, and that it's going to get it done in time so that I can pick up my little girl from pre-school! Yaayyy! Thank you Ashley for you professionalism. You made a stressful situation silky smooth. Also, Bob the shuttle driver is fast and a sweetheart. read more

Unprofessional!! I had all but purchased my vehicle, we were waiting on the credit check to go through (they were processing it, so it wasn't even a hold up on my side). It was 6 on a tuesday, they said 'come in tomorrow after work, it'll be all set for you.' I'm a school teacher, the next day at 1:00 I get a call saying that the car I had done everything except pay for was being sold right now! So I rushed there as soon as I could, hoping that it would be a cheap gimmick to get me to buy the car faster, but they sold it right out from under me!! Unparalleled unprofessionalism, stereotypical car dealers being slimy. They told me verbally that the car was mine, I had done everything to ensure that I was clear about buying it, my credit is great, they just messed up. Definitely will not return there, nor will I recommend to others. read more

DO NOT GO HERE FOR WORK ON YOUR CAR!!! Their sales department is amazing. Lance was my sales person. He got me into a car I could afford and was able to afford the extended warranty. Their service department is a whole different story!! The first time I brought my car here for work I was kept up to date with everything they did, I was informed of needing an oil change, and was told how much my total would be before I even picked it up. THE SECOND TIME was absolutely terrible. I brought my car in cause my oil levels had been non existent almost. I was never called with updates, they waited until the end of the day to even touch my car so they couldn't take the proper time to look at it. I know this because I called multiple times and they kept saying they'd get to it. When I got my car back my total was over $200 because they did an oil change without asking me, and didn't see if anything was covered by my warrant. When I had brought it in, I told them I had put more oil in it because it was basically empty. I also told them that I had smelt burning oil a couple times before. When I got my car back, they told me that they had found residue OUTSIDE of where the oil should be, BUT my car wasn't leaking oil. How is that possible?? Now my car is in the shop because I was told not to put oil in it again and if it was really low to bring it in so they could see for themselves. Well this happened AGAIN and now my engine is being replaced down at Twin City Subaru. Also, when I called to tell them my car needed to be seen ASAP because it was an engine problem I got told that if I dropped my car off I wouldn't be given a loaner vehicle but if I waited and made an appointment for the 19th of November then they could give me a loaner. Twin City took my car and made sure I was given a loaner vehicle the second they had one available. Burlington Subaru does not care about its customers in the service department. This review is specifically for the service department. Unfortunately, I had a very negative (3 hour) experience today and will not be bringing my Suburu in again. A "free state inspection" is not free (customers beware) and I was told a very minor issue would be $500, which is outrageous (my mechanic charged MUCH less). In addition, the level of unprofessionalism and lack of customer service was pretty astounding specifically with regard to how Ashley Lackard (service associate) handled herself. There are times when you accept feedback, rather than rehash an issue and continue to argue at a customer, something that she may not yet have learned in customer service. I highly recommend bringing your car for service elsewhere. Save yourself the time, money, and frustration. There are places that don't take advantage of its own customers. read more

I went in for the airbag recall. The gal I talked to on the phone was going to loan me a car, this was going to take place from 9:30 to 5:00! When I got confirmation via snail mail, there was no address, no directions, in the letter. I was ready for a shitty day. When I got there, I ended up having the most pleasant experience! Everybody was smiling, held doors for me, looked at my car and estimated "within two hours." (It was well under that.) I won't go so far as to call the wait area posh, but it had a great fireplace (it was a cold day) and great chairs. When I got my car, they had replaced the air bag, washed the car, vacuumed the interior, and left me a pumpkin chocolate chip cookie! Can't wait til my next recall!! read more

awful service they sold me a brand new crosstrek that has a malfunctioning electronics unit. Replaced it once and they are now denying that the second unit is having the same issues. wasted multiple mornings and hours in the phone trying to sort this out with no help. looking online, apparently this is an ongoing known issue for Suburu electronics systems with lawsuits in the work. The dealership is denying the problem and I'm stuck with a brand new malfunctioning car. Suburu of America was of no help either also denying that there have been issues with the radio units. read more

Currently waiting in the lobby of Burlington Subaru. Lobby definitely gets a five star rating. However, I dropped my car off at the Express Service lane at 8:15 this morning for a quick oil change, tire roto, and to put my windshield cowl back into place. It is currently 12:34. I was told it "shouldn't be more than an hour or an hour 15." Went to check at 10:30 and they told me it was just now going onto the rack and shouldnt be more than an hour and a half. Why wouldn't you call me to update? I was also told that the longer wait was due to another car having problems, which I totally understand, but if thats the case, don't advertise something as "express." It's reasonable for me to assume that there would be someone around to work on my car and not have to wait in line for someone else's car to get fixed. I understand that some things might take longer than expected but at the same time I shouldn't be expected to wait 4 hours for a service that's advertised as being fast! It's routine service work too, not even anything major. Here's a tip for the boys at Subaru if they even read these: just get rid of your express lane and let people make appointments! You force us to come in for the express because your website says "no need to schedule appointments for routine service work like oil changes and tire rotations." When we see that, we think we can drive right in like Jiffy Lube and be out in an hour. Since I've been here I've seen multiple people come and go, meanwhile I arrived 15 minutes after they opened and am still here. I should've known the Express option was too good to be true. I feel misled and am very disappointed. You guys really have to do better than this. Everyone in town has a Subaru and we're counting on you to be transparent but you clearly aren't. read more

I had a problem getting the Lugnuts off when I went to mount my winter tires. Snow is predicted where I live so that I was in a panic mode. Matt at Burlington Subaru was able to fit me in and resolve the problem and even produced a loaner car for me while he was doing it. His service was above and beyond. read more

This place is a pile of shit. Brought my car in for a recall and when it was ready for pick up it had a large new scratch and they didn't put the center console back together after taking it apart. The manager gave me a number for Subaru America so I could call and complain. Funny thing is, this dealership is Subaru New England, so SOA can't help. The guy who checked me in is the only reason this review has 2 stars. He was a good man doing his best in a shitty situation. It's the only game in town and within 100 miles. "Haha, Sucks for you" should be there motto. read more

I went into my car search apprehensively. After having been burned with an earlier transaction, I was tentative to enter the market again and new I wanted to take my time. Friends and family have all said great things about their Subaru's which led me to do further research. I decided on the model that would best suit my needs and budget and scheduled an appointment to meet with Beth Grady. She was EXCELLENT! Beth was able to answer all of my (many) questions patiently and thoroughly. She worked with me to achieve a payment within my budget and sought out the exact vehicle I was looking for. There was never any pushy salesmanship on her part, or as far as I could see from any of the other salespeople either. I am thrilled with the new vehicle and Beth's commitment to the process and customer service. read more

The two stars comes because I had a good experience buying with Jean at Subaru, especially after I had dealt with two other people trying to sell me a car that I was less than thrilled with, however, the service department leaves a lot to be desired. I had the service package as part of my lease and I have yet to have a service (I'm on the third one currently) that has taken less than 3.5 hours. When I call to check on the progress of my car, no one answers. I finally got through and was told it would be 5-10 minutes. I arrived and was again told they were just finishing paperwork. 30 minutes later (45 minutes after I'd called to check), my car was ready. When I wait there, no one knows how long it will take. While I'm happy with my Subaru purchase, I think I'd rather go back to my prior mechanic. If you have a half day to kill, it's fine. read more

Best service and great staff. I drove from Virginia to Vermont for the 4th of July holiday. My 2017 Subaru Forester began having problems. It then went totally dead at a rest stop. A nice gentleman who worked there helped to jump start the battery, but by the time I got to Burlington, there were big problems. Air conditioner went on the blink, clock and mileage gauges went kaput and it was miserable in the unseasonably hot weather. I called Burlington Subaru, they said "bring it in and we'll see what we can do." In the waiting lounge there were pastries, yogurt, fruit, popcorn, coffee and beverages... amazing because at my Virginia dealership they may have water. True enough, it took several hours, but Ashley and the service team kept me up to date of the progress. In the end I got a complete maintenance service, a new battery, air conditioner systems update and they washed my car to boot! I drove my four month old Crosstrek from Chicago to Grand Isle. I planned to drive back to Chicago on Saturday, June 6. On Friday evening, warning lights came on about the RAB system, saying the car had to be seen by service for repair. Early Saturday morning, I drove to Burlington Subaru without calling first. Their service department was closed for the weekend due to covid-19. However, the sales manager contacted one of their technicians living nearby, who came in to fix the problem. I got on the road and back to Chi-town on schedule! How wonderful!! They went out of their way to help. This is my first subaru, but not my last. I am moving to Vermont soon, and will definitely be a customer of this dealership. read more

After a quick test drive, we had a price in mind and a monthly payment we had to stick by, Jean and her team met that with ease. I brought in my daughter's Subaru which simultaneously had many issues. I also had them put the snow tires on. I'm a big fan of taking the car to the manufacturer's service department because I believe they've seen the same problem 100 times, and won't throw parts at it to see what works. The service advisor called and requested 2 hours diagnostic time to figure out what was wrong and I agreed. Turns out it was a part that was covered under an emissions warranty. It didn't cost me anything. I'm a big fan of their service department, and I strongly recommend them. read more

I tried for 2 months to have the mouse damage repaired on a 2018 Forester but gave up when the best appointment the service manager could offer was middle of July, another month and a half out. I had a great experience with this dealer. My 2014 WRX broke down after some spirited driving in the. Beautiful back roads of Vermont, I was up in the area for the weekend and had to get my car towed to a repair shop, I called and spoke to Kevin who told me to tow it in and that they could get a look at it once it arrives. I came in with the tow truck and was greeted by Kevin. A strapping young lad with a wealth or knowledge about these cars! I had to hang out in the service department while the car was looked it. Kevin updated me that it was just a broken serpentine belt and idler pulley. They had the parts on the shelf and I was back on the road within an hour of sitting down! Can't thank Kevin and the service department enough for a quick turn around on repairs. Go see Kevin for all your Subaru needs! read more
