I've tried contacting them through their website and they NEVER respond, I tried contacting them numerous times through Facebook marketplace, they never respond. they NEVER call back. I've had 2 experiences with EarthyCars. 4 yrs ago I bought my 1st car from them--a 2013 Kia Soul with very low mileage (8K!). It was straightforward & they made sure a recall was done at the Kia dealer, which I appreciated. This car has worked out well for me, although there's been some paint cracking on an area that was repaired by the previous owner. I wanted better MPG & a couple months ago I checked out a 2008 Prius with 89K miles they had. It wasn't an all bad experience & I honestly think many of the problems this time would be solved by having an additional staff person to share Adam's responsibilities. I know part of their business model is to NOT have a ton of salespeople & I think that helps them keep their prices lower, but it's gotten to a point where they really do need another staff. Here is a summary: -I came after work, during the last 30-45 mins of their hours. I didn't have time that first day to do a test drive but he let me sit in it and answered Qs, etc which was great. -I came back another day at the same time. I wasn't able to test drive the car because it was parked in another location & he didn't have time to get it. I ended up coming several days & had similar experiences. I tried to make a plan w/him that I'd come back the next day so that they'd have it ready for me, but that didn't work. I also tried calling ahead to see if the car was available but got voicemail. -I learned my lesson & came at a different time of day, which helped. He told me the car was at nearby service place & gave me the key so I could test drive it from there. This showed trust & that he cared that I'd been trying to test drive it for awhile, which I appreciated. -There was a muffler in the back seat he hadn't warned me about (not a deal breaker) & the tire pressure warning light was on. I didn't want to damage the tires/test drive with low tire pressure. I told him about the light & asked if they could put air in the tires so I could test drive it another day. -When I came back a couple weeks later (I was moving) it was finally parked at the dealership (yay!). But it still had the warning light on. I checked w/him & he said a TPMS sensor was malfunctioning & it should be fine. I test drove it (all seemed fine). -We agreed I'd make an appt. to get a pre-sale inspection at a Prius mechanic to ensure the car & hybrid battery were good. The only place I could find online was far away (Middlebury) but when I called & told him he suggested Heritage Toyota which worked well. -I called & left a VM telling him when the appt. was, as he'd asked. A week later when I came to get the car he hadn't heard the VM. He was fine with me taking the car so it worked out. -The presale inspection found it had significant rust on the rocker panels. They said it would cost $3-4000 to fix them & it wouldn't pass state inspection otherwise. I was surprised, disappointed, frustrated & spent $100+ to find this out. I'm not super experienced with cars & hadn't known to look for rust there. As EarthyCars does state inspections in their service department it appeared they hadn't done a thorough inspection b4 selling. -I showed Adam the report and he seemed surprised. He was nice but didn't apologize for them not catching the issue. Part of what I learned w/all this was the degree to which they were understaffed & not able to provide the amount of customer service (or even time to properly inspect cars they're selling) that would be helpful for customers. I just checked & this car is still listed for sale(!) on their website as I post this! It's been over 2 wks since I showed him the inspection report (which he snapped a picture of)! I was going to leave 2 stars b/c of my prev. pos. experience but now switching to 1 star. It is not okay to sell a bum car like that. If they wanted to sell it now, they should steeply discount it & disclose the work it needs. Advice: If there's a car you want here, go for it, but know that it's a DIY kind of place. Likely you'll have to wait to be helped & your vms won't be heard. Get educated to be able to do a bit of a "pre-sale inspection" for yourself & absolutely definitely get it checked out by your own mechanic before buying. COVID: -Adam & others I saw always wore masks, BUT not the staff person in the back office (who sometimes helps out). On the day I test drove Adam was busy & this staff came to help me. I asked if he could put a mask on & he said he didn't have one b/c he stayed in the back. He asked if I wanted to wait for someone who had a mask. I said yes & a few mins later Adam gave me the key. I don't feel good about being in the office there b/c air droplets spread indoors, esp. if someone is in the space all day like he is. -I never saw or heard anything about sanitizing surfaces between test drives. This doesn't matter as much to me, since I used hand sanitizer before & after I drove but something to keep in mind. read more

Terrible business to buy a car from- Wouldn't spend my money here. My partner and I were looking to trade our car in for a newer car. After finding a car we liked we came up with a purchase agreement and went to the bank. After obtaining our loan we went to go trade our car in with the check and they refused to follow through with the deal, after offering us a price toward our trade. Looking elsewhere for a vehicle now. Don't waste your time- the service is unclear and not straightforward like it should be. read more

I went with my daughter today to buy a car. We did the Carfax report, the price search, brought cash to pay in full. As long as the test drive was satisfactory it was sold. I called the day before asking if the car was available before taking the two hour drive the next day. Got an enthusiastic yes, and I told the man we'd see him tomorrow. We get there 3 pm. Every car is covered in dust. As soon as I pulled in, I didn't get a good vibe. Then we walked in the office....eek even worse. The guy was too "busy" to acknowledge us. When he finally found a moment, we asked to look at the car and drive it. The car completely blocked in by other vehicles wouldn't start. Dead battery. Not a good impression.... They jump it and pull it out. Then he disappeared while we are outside waiting. The "service" guy asks us if we are talking it for a ride. I said yes, but are waiting for him to come back out. The service guy goes in and comes back, says he said you can take it. Okay, weird.... We take it down the street, then up the street, we pull in a gas station to take a closer look at the vehicle and turn around. We look over the vehicle, get back in to head back and the car won't start. We call the dealership 3 times, leave 2 voicemails, no response. A nice young man at the station jump started the car for us and we go back. My hand is covered in black grease just from lifting the hood. The steering wheel doesn't return correctly and while we has to hood up i noticed the coolant level was low. Now if I call the day before and tell you I'm coming to look at a vehicle. Pull it out start it, clean it and make sure all fluids are good. We will never take a second glace at this place. Good luck to anyone who wants to be ignored by this guy. read more

I buy a pre-depreciated car here once a decade or so... this week a one owner, 2014 Toyota wagon. They always have a good selection with several hybrids. It is much more pleasant to do business with this multi-generation family garage than any typical car dealer. They always work to accommodate me and have the competence to take care of any issues. There are never ridiculous fees added after our price negotiation. Of course, it's a good idea to look over vehicle history reports and get an independent inspection. This is THE BEST auto shop I've ever been to! And let me tell you, with my 15-year-old Chevy, I've been to quite a few. I was in a rut with my car last week. The engine overheated on my way to work in the morning and little did I know, there was absolutely no coolant left. I called Earthycars on my lunch break and they told me to come right down after work. Once I got there, they immediately took my car in. I waited in the shop for about two hours and they not only replaced my hose that was leaking, they filled my coolant, checked the pressure to find anything else that could be wrong, and did my oil change (when I'd been calling places for weeks trying to get an appointment). Is this really a used car dealership? I couldn't even get anyone to give me the time of day. There were a few other people looking at cars while I was there, and the one salesman I saw was washing a car and talking on a phone and ignoring everyone. All of the cars in the lot were dirty, and the insides hadn't been detailed at all. I finally got his attention and asked if I could test drive a car. He said that he had to fill it with gas first, and when he finally came back 15 minutes later he walked right by me and into the office, where he proceeded to talk to someone else, and of course ignored me when I asked if the car was ready. I probably should have left before I wasted that much time there. read more

I bought a car from a different dealer in early 2015 and after numerous "we don't notice anything wrong with it" visits with them (Paya's) after purchasing, we brought it to Adam. He was able to tell us with 99% confidence he knew what was wrong after a simple drive down the road, and offered us his price vs doing it ourselves (knowing my husband is car-savvy). I tried calling them directly because I bough the vehicle from an agent of theirs. The sales person I talked with was absolutely nothing but rude to me. As a first time customer I didn't know what to expect from this company. I had a 9:00 appointment and when I arrived a few minutes prior the doors were locked and no one was there. I waited in my car for a while then saw an employee unlock the doors and enter. I went in a few minutes later and no one was there, so I waited some more. A mechanic finally came out and started my inspection. While I waited for my car someone man that worked there came in, sat at the desk and started watching TV on his laptop and texting. As a customer there was NO professionalism and I felt extremely uncomfortable. I would not go back even though the mechanics were nice and honest about things I should fix sooner rather than later. The man on the laptop was quite pushy when I said NO to having my back rotors and breaks replaced for an outrageous price! read more

I would stay away from this place. At first, they were really hands off, and when I approached a young sales associate, he was very kind and let us look at cars and take them for test drives. However, when we went in to talk about the possibility of buying, the store manager was there and told me that my 2001 van with very low miles on it was crap and they would give me $4,000 less than it was worth for a trade in. He continually contradicted himself and when I turned to leave he just wanted to keep telling me that my current car wasn't very good. I finally cut him off and just said that we were leaving now. I would never use these people again, either to buy a car or as mechanics. We bought our car here 4 months ago, it's now broken down 3 times in as many weeks, had to be towed twice, when we took it to them for repairs it took them 4 days to even get around to looking at it, and now it needs a whole new engine. Which apparently "doesn't surprise them" as they detected a problem last time that they not only didn't fix, but also only remembered to tell us about when it broke down this time. Needless to say we have taken our car elsewhere to be fixed now. They have not only completely ripped us off, but letting us drive a knowingly dangerous car without warning us of the problems they found, leading to us getting stuck in the snow on the side of the road in winter is DANGEROUS. All I can say is thank goodness no one was hurt. Of course the thousands of dollars we've spent repairing their "work" is another matter. read more

Adam (the young guy that sells the cars) was real nice but once he sells you the car, he wont answer your phone calls, nor your voicemail, or any messages. But before I bought the car, he would pick up everytime I called. Everytime he knew that I called for a warranty issue. It would take over a month just to get my car to the shop, then once it gets there he tries anything he can to void the warranty plus he tries to keep your car around so he knows what he can void. Everytime that I left a voicemail which was about 3 times per day (not including just regular calls) I NEVER received a call back. It was excuse after another if I did get ahold of him. He wont negotiate with you unless he has his interest. He father (guy that sits in the back room) is an asshole too. One time I went there just to pick something up for my car (that was suppose to be put in by his mechanics but he said it would take the whole day only for a 5 minute job) he starts yelling at me. His mechanics are very dirty and dont seem to care if they get your car dirty or not. They dirtied up my whole engine bay after it got painted. This used car dealer is very unprofessional and would NEVER buy another car from them again just because the service sucked so bad. Nor would I even go there if they were giving out free cars because they are a bunch of assholes who treat their customer like shit. read more
