I hadn't tried their style of bikes before but they were really nice - quiet, easy to adjust and use. The display screen was great too, especially for instruction, with the teacher telling us what resistance we should set our bikes at. They had towels during class and cold towels at the end of class too. Highly recommended!

It's an intimate setting and definitely has a community feel which was different but really nice! My instructor was Jay- he is very motivating and energetic! What better way to celebrate than to stay healthy (or to try at least?). The exercises were challenging, but he emphasized to do what worked best for us and our bodies. Our instructer was awesome, great personality, kept the class fun and interesting. Most of us were beginners but he told us to do what we can, dont try to out do the person next to you. We did so much.. butpees, threw a heavy ball up the wall while doing squats, sit ups, pull ups, pull ups on rings, lunges and more. I loved the flow of the glass although there were moments I had to break, I still kept up! This crissfit gym is hidden but is a great place to work out!

*Parents with children with special needs - PLEASE READ!…read more My son was diagnosed with ADHD/Autism two weeks before I registered for camp at the Tuckahoe YMCA. He's very high functioning and has been in the school setting since pre-k. I let them know prior to registering about his IEP plan and some accommodations we have in place. They made it seem like everything was okay! June 2nd was the first day of camp. Why did they politely kick my child out the program? First we talked about doing half days because it was a new environment but when I went to pick him up they basically said let's go ahead & issue a refund! I'm so frustrated but also understand all of the children's safety is the biggest priority! I think the most heartbreaking thing is they didn't give my child a chance to adapt to the environment or modify the camp schedule. They immediately decided they didn't want to work with him. I say this to say don't waste your time sending your children here for summer camp if they have any type of special needs. They will not work with them AT ALL! They didn't give my child any time to adjust. I'm disgusted with this location & the staff here.

My local YMCA (John Rolfe) closed recently and we don't really like Tuckahoe because it is usually…read moretoo crowded. So we checked out acac. This is a fitness Mecca! Here's my impression after the first week: Signing up for membership was challenging. The price we were quoted over the phone was different than what we were told when we showed up to join. And actually we had an appointment with the membership director and he was on vacation and everyone from membership was gone so one of the front desk attendants gave us a tour. They also gave us a pass to the weekend to make up for the debacle. When we showed up on Saturday we met with someone in membership and that's when the pricing changed because what we were quoted only covered 3 people. So we paid extra for the fourth and our fifth couldn't join because the cost of their membership was too high and she is a student (my daughter). She is 26 so that's why she has to have her own membership. I get it. Also the hot tub and rooftop pool is extra, so be aware. They also have a Recovery area that includes infrared saunas and cold plunge, plus a variety of other equipment. That's an extra charge too, but the first month is free so you can check it out. Other than that miscommunication, it's been pretty seamless. Every staff member I've encountered has been professional and super helpful. Kudos to the center for hiring great people. Any kind of exercise you could possibly want to do is under the roof of acac or at one of their other facilities. The classes and yoga studio is top notch. I've done a few classes and also yoga, signed up for the egym and have used the hot tub, sauna, plunge, etc., and it's all been good. It's only a week in and I feel right at home and motivated to work out every day. I still have so much more to try! I love that I can do something different everyday so I don't get bored. Joining acac costs more but so far it's worth it for us.
