I had sent a DM to the pit master about our visit and placing an order to pick up. Unfortunately they didn't have brisket at the time of our visit but everything else we got was wonderfully delicious. We picked up the Texas Trinity w/Ribs, sausage & pork belly burnt ends with 2 sides. Every thing was delicious but the ribs were the star of the plate. Thank you Smoak Town BBQ for cooking delicious food. They are currently located at a food park but will be moving into a brick and mortar.

The brisket was tender, flavorful, and had that perfect smoke ring and bark you hope for in Texas barbecue. The beans were hearty and had shredded meat in them -- they were good, just a little spicier than my usual style. The mac & cheese was awesome -- creamy, cheesy, and the perfect comfort side. The barbecue sauce was spot-on too ~ rich, tangy, and full of flavor. The outdoor setup adds to the experience ~ picnic tables under a covered area, stacks of wood, and that unmistakable BBQ aroma in the air. It's got that laid-back, small-town Texas charm where everyone's just enjoying good food and good company. The lady who took our order was so sweet and welcoming -- a true example of Southern hospitality. She made the experience even better! The line wasn't long, and we didn't have to wait too long for our food -- a big plus on a busy day. They also have banana bread pudding, which I didn't get to try this time, but it's on my list for next visit. Overall, Smoak Town BBQ is a solid spot that earns its Texas Monthly Top 50 recognition. Great food, friendly service, and an authentic Texas BBQ vibe. I only give HONEST and TRUE Reviews from the Heart. Thank you for taking the time to read it & react to it.

But when I went to this Royse City location I decided to try a baked potato with my sandwich and it was so silky smooth and delicious and the staff is so friendly that I had a change of heart. I thought about it and said their BBQ is pretty good and their baked potato is fantastic, so why not try the double barrel, loaded baked potato with brisket and a side of Texas toast? I threw in a couple extra sides that were delicious (okra, coleslaw), and suddenly it's become my new favorite place in the area for BBQ! I don't mind the free ice cream either.

Barbecue isn't typically my first choice of food options, but my son wanted it and pretty much begged because it's the best thing in the world to him, so we went. I was pleasantly surprised. I actually liked the counter service here because I was able to see the food and pick what I wanted. A few barbecue options, a few vegetable options, and a few potato options. Plenty to choose from. The food was good, and we went on a Saturday afternoon, so it wasn't busy at all. There were maybe four tables with people so our service was super fast as it tends to be with counter service. It was clean and the staff was friendly. All good things. The only reason it is four stars instead of five might be on my choice. I went with the turkey and it was a little bland. My son got brisket, and I tried it, and it was much better.

Is this a sign??? No. It's no. Currently, they have beer and wine available. We ordered a beer and it was ice cold. For apps, we had half orders of the meteor bites and pickles. Both fantastic. Served with a yummy ranch and Chipotle ranch. Out fast and hot. Our server Cora was so pleasant and had such a strong desire to please. For dinner we both got the 205 plate. Two meats and two sides. For just over $20. It was a steal compared to most bbq joints. He got brisket and ribs. Both fantastic and I am not a rib girl. So tender. I got the pulled pork and chicken. Both good. But, I won't lie, his was better. Only complaint was wishing the food was just slightly warmer. For sides, creamy Mac n cheese (next time I am getting that topped with brisket), potatoe salad and Cole slaw. Zero complaints. Come on Rockwall. Show up and support a local business.

Boss lady and I came in after the lunch rush. Only three other tables had customers. I ordered the 205 Plate with (what was to be fatty, not. It was cold and dry) brisket and the spicy sausage, which was delicious! My sides were green beans (with bacon) and fried okra...both very tasty. Loved the bread roll. We asked for butter, and they brought out some real whipped butter...SCORE! She had their special flat iron steak, cooked medium rare (always!) with salad and and fries (which need to be done more). Her steak was so tender and cooked perfectly! Dessert was their sampler. With a double order of banana pudding, a bread pudding and a chocolate cake. The best thing was the bread pudding but it needs a warm sauce on it. The others were just Ok. Overall, a good meal and experience. We'll be back to try something different.

In the Greenville tx area on business then heading back to Dallas. Traffic came to a full stop…read more So,I decided to take the next exit and have a BBQ sandwich at Bakers Ribs. They've been around long before the current BBQ craze. I used to eat at their Dallas Location back in the 1990s but, haven't been in 25 years. After fighting major construction congestion and stop and go detours,I finally pulled into the pot holed, gravel parking lot in front of the red 1980ish red metal building that is Bakers Ribs . I was also in search of The Original Fried Pie Company which happened to share space . Entering I found what I expected. Well worn old school roadside Texas BBQ place, just getting by . As with almost everyone else, they've upgraded to a thin screen digital overhead menu. I hate those things because they have no soul...yada,yada,yada I ordered the chopped beef sandwich and waited about five minutes for the few in front of me to gradually get their order filled by the one person, chopping meat, frying fries and filling orders . The vibe is worn out ,we tried western kitch decor in 1980. That's ok but, this is a sad little place that's seen its better day. Regressing slightly. When I first entered a case of various fried pies was the first thing I came to. More on that later . Pouring myself a unsweetened ice tea,I sat down to hopefully enjoy my sandwich. It was better than I expected, and after doctoring it up with onions, jalapeno, pickles and sauce,it passed my test, barely. I wish them well but,I probably won't go back. The owners need to either recomit to increasing the quality of their food and service or? Now to the fried pies. Yumalicious! I bought 6 at $3 75 each. 2 Cherry,2 Apple,2 Peach. I put three in the freezer and left the others out for consumption. Wow. Warmed up under the broiler and served alongside BlueBell Vanilla, niezzzz! Overall my experience was a whiff of the past. That going, going, gone place on the side of the highway that's just good enough to keep you going ,to the next detour.
