What a great experience. The tacos were awesome from the food truck and they even had a movie for the kiddos to enjoy while we sat back and vibed with the live music. Well done. Great service and friendly staff.

Just left out first visit to the Northside. I would give them 10 stars if I could. I can't say enough good things about this place. The staff is incredible and the food is insanely good. We got asked several time how our food was and if we needed anything. (You can tell how much everyone working there takes pride in their job) My kiddos enjoyed the large space to run around which gave us parents some time to relax. We will definitely be back!!!

Super chill spot; food was really good the brisket nachos were way bigger than we expected which was great! Tacos from Taco Wasted were amazing and the drinks were great! Can't wait to re-visit during a game or live music.

Indoor-ish seating area near one of the bars and where their food is served from.

The attention to detail is incredible. We started with the queso blanco, which is served in a volcanic stone bowl that keeps it perfectly warm and creamy far longer than a traditional bowl. It was absolutely delicious, and the portion was enormous. Honestly, six people could easily share it and still have plenty before the main course arrived. For our entrée, we ordered the chicken fajitas. The chicken was well-marinated, the presentation was beautiful, and both the rice and beans were excellent. Now for the few things keeping this from being a five-star experience. First, the tortillas. They tasted like packaged grocery store tortillas...think Mission brand. For me, freshly made tortillas are almost non-negotiable at a Mexican restaurant. When everything else is this thoughtfully prepared, packaged tortillas feel completely out of place. Second--and this is a hill I'm willing to die on--I ordered a Diet Coke and was told they only serve Coke Zero. I'm sorry, but those are not the same thing. Every Diet Coke fan understands this. Finally, the noise level was overwhelming. There was a soccer game on the TVs with the audio blasting throughout the restaurant. It was so loud that carrying on a conversation was difficult, and even hearing our waitress required her to lean in right next to us. This isn't a sports bar; it's a beautifully themed restaurant that happens to have a bar. The game didn't need to dominate the atmosphere. Overall, the restaurant is stunning, the food is very good, and the attention to detail is exceptional. If they started making fresh tortillas, offered Diet Coke as an option, and turned off the TV audio, this would be an easy 5+ star experience for me.

**Disappointing Experience at Hermann Marshall**…read more I attended a private event at Hermann Marshall on August 16th, held in their private party room. This was my third time attending a private event at Hermann Marshall, and unfortunately, it was the first time I experienced what I felt was inconsistent and disappointing service. As part of the event, the host offered complimentary mixed drinks served by Hermann Marshall staff. My server was Mary Ann, who I understand is married to the manager/owner. Mary Ann initially served me one complimentary Old Fashioned, which, as usual, was very good. About an hour later, I returned to the bar for another. At that point, Mary Ann placed her hand over the Old Fashioned dispenser and told me they were no longer serving complimentary drinks because the prepaid limit had been reached. She then told me I could purchase one if I wanted another drink. I had no issue with purchasing a drink, so I got my debit card and purchased a smoked Old Fashioned. What I found confusing, however, was that there appeared to be a significant amount of the premixed Old Fashioned remaining in the dispenser. Approximately an hour later, while getting food near the bar, I saw Mary Ann serve another attendee an Old Fashioned from the same container she had previously told me was no longer available for complimentary drinks. I asked Mary Ann why I had been charged for my drink while another attendee was still receiving complimentary Old Fashioneds. Her response was unclear, but she ultimately told me that if I wanted another drink, I would need to pay for it. From what I observed, however, other attendees were continuing to receive complimentary Old Fashioneds within the limit established by the party host. What made the situation particularly disappointing was not having to pay for a drink--I was perfectly willing to do that--but rather the inconsistent treatment and lack of transparency regarding how the complimentary drinks were being distributed. I have been a consistent patron of Hermann Marshall, attending Tuesday Bingo nights, happy hours, and other events, and I have also brought friends with me. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling uncomfortable and disappointed, particularly given the circumstances surrounding the event. I believe all guests should receive consistent and transparent service, regardless of who they are. Based on this experience, I will no longer be supporting Hermann Marshall or recommending HM to friends. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as this was a very different experience from the positive experiences I've had at Hermann Marshall in the past.

Here's a polished review based on your Facebook post:…read more Smoak Town BBQ is everything that makes Texas barbecue special. From the moment I arrived, I could tell this place was something different. Even on a 100-degree day, the covered seating area with cooling fans was full of locals who couldn't stop talking about the great barbecue here. Smoak Town isn't just serving incredible food; it's built on family, hard work, faith, and a genuine love for barbecue. One of the highlights of my visit was spending time talking with Rob, the pitmaster's father, and hearing the story of how Cameron turned a passion for backyard barbecue into an award-winning business after success on the competition circuit...and encouragement from dad. The food was outstanding across the board. The brisket was perfectly smoked and so tender it fell apart with a fork. The beer-basted turkey was unbelievably moist, the pork belly burnt ends were meaty and flavorful, and the jalapeño-cheese sausage had just the right amount of kick. The brisket baked beans were some of the best I've had anywhere. What really set Smoak Town apart, though, was the hospitality. After I got home, I received a personalized text thanking me for stopping by and letting me know I was welcome back anytime--as family. That simple gesture perfectly captured what Texas barbecue is all about. If you're looking for authentic Texas barbecue that's served with heart, Smoak Town BBQ absolutely deserves a spot on your must-visit list. Great food, great people, and true Texas hospitality. I'll definitely be back.

I had a chance last October while I was in Rockwall for a wedding to try it, but because the wedding was a top priority (whatever!!!), it didn't happen. Yesterday was my chance. Inside this food park was a vast sea of options, but my eyes were set on the back left where Smoak Town laid. They have a huge tent with plenty of tables to sit at under the shade and the space is wrapped in their wood, giving the joint an oak log fence around the food truck. By the time I got there a little past 1:30, they were out of sausage and mac and cheese. Sad! Other than that, my order was simple: brisket, pork ribs, pork belly burnt ends, and a side of their brew brisket beans. The brisket was a thick slice that was moist and flavorful. I love those chunky slabs of brisket. There is just something about a thicker cut that knocks skinnier cuts out of the park. The pork ribs were juicy and tender. I rarely get pork belly burnt ends over a sausage, but they are always a treat like they were here. Just a little taste of heaven. The beans were savory, hearty, and well seasoned. I was pretty impressed by them as well. The team working was super conversational and friendly. The guy in front of me was having his first taste of Texas barbecue, and they were being super helpful making sure he got a true, flavorful experience. This spot feels hidden but is worth the trip. There were quite a few people hanging around enjoying the excellent barbecue. Worth the pit stop and worth the drive if you live anywhere in the DFW metro.
