This place is actually bomb. Tried my first burrito today which was the special frito burrito of the month. I was very impressed on the quality and taste of the carne asada and the burrito as a whole. Absolutely loved this one, I hope the regular menu items are just as good because the Fritos gave it a great crunch. The elote is also delicious and I tried the churro fries which were very unique and not at all what I expected. Not the normal texture or dusting of a normal churro it really is more like a fry. Overall I will definitely be back to try other stuff, very impressed! read more

Unfortunately after stopping in to this place again I can no longer recommend it. There is a general atmosphere of unfriendliness here. I stopped in for a beer and food with a friend. Not a big beer selection so I got a modelo black. Bartender seems over worked with managing both the food and bar side of the business. The food has also changed for the worse it was nothing like what we had before didn't taste fresh and was not presented very well. My husband and I absolutely love going to Burrito Envy! Our love affair for the loaded tots and burritos began in our 20's when we needed a little post-bar fuel. We now really enjoy bringing our toddler here for a meal that always hits the spot! This may seem silly, but this is the only restaurant I have ever been in the has a high-top highchair. BRAVO BURRITO ENVY! Sometimes toting a toddler around to restaurants is a little daunting, but I find it very easy to come here with ours. I really enjoy the extensive variety of margaritas you can get here. My favorites include, but are not limited to the watermelon and blueberry! Turned out we visited on First Friday so the place was PACKED. But we got a spot at the bar and the bartenders immediately let us know they were slammed and it would be a bit of a wait but that they would get to us ASAP. That's really all I need, just acknowledgement that I'm there and communication about the wait. No big deal! This is the second time I've been there and this time I brought my wife and son. Granted, it's not exactly a "kid friendly" spot because it's mainly high tops and a bar, but the food is totally worth it. I had the California Burrito bowl, my wife got the Surf and Turf (forgot a picture of hers), and my son had a cheese quesadilla. We also tried the Chips and Queso since it was happy hour today. Both times the food has really wowed us! The biggest thing that sets them apart from other places is their tator tots instead of rice. Such a unique flavor with their other ingredients. Their carne asada (steak) is fresh and tender and their guacamole tastes homemade. Even without the rice, their portions are very filling. When one wanders down into Benson, generally it's expected you'll spend a little time drinking at some grungy and hip bars, fend off the errant hipster trying to get you to take their selfie, and spend way too much money if you wander into Yoshitomo and get sushi. What you don't expect, is to have some of the best nachos you've ever tasted, from a place named after burritos. Well, I'm here to tell you that you're in for a surprise. Burrito Envy is exactly what you'd expect a Benson bar to look like. It's not extravagant or posh, the floor might be sticky from some idiot spilling his drink, and depending on the time of day there might not be anywhere to sit. Their location is clever, for it has one entrance and register for take-out, and a second for dining in. Obviously they specialize in tequila based drinks, and whichever one I ordered was actually pretty good. The cool thing about their menu is most of the dishes can be ordered as a burrito, taco, or nachos. Me, being a huge nacho fan, elected to get the California Nachos on my visit. My first things when ordering is that I'd be getting a second-rate plate of chips, with overcooked carne asada, and for some reason tater tots....?? What I got was actually incredible. The carne asada was tender, cooked perfectly, and not the dollar store chunk of meat I was expecting. The cheese sauce was flavorful, plentiful, and not overly spicy, and those weird little tater tot morsels actually added an extra layer of taste, salt, and texture to my nachos I never thought I'd enjoy. In all, they're my favorite cheesy chips I've had in Omaha to date. Do yourself a favor and try them. read more

Burrito Envy became a favorite takeout spot for us during the pandemic. We have yet to dine in house, but the burritos and margaritas we have carried back home with us or enjoyed in a park have all been very good. I particularly enjoy the passion fruit margarita, and being an herbivore, I tend to get the mixed veggies burrito unless the current special is veggie friendly. I guess one drawback wpuld be that they have lots of options on the menu, but not a ton for vegetarians. Good thing I enjoy the one main offering. Me and my husband came in here on a week night later in the evening after playing cornhole at 1912 and it was good. I got the chicken rice bowl and it was fresh and good. Stopped in for a margarita and ended up getting some nachos too! The restaurant itself is open and seemed clean. We sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly and obviously knew how to mix drinks. He carefully crafted our margaritas using bitters, etc. While the margarita was okay, it really tasted just like bitters to me...couldn't detect much of a lime flavor at all. The burritos are large, but not huge and they have terrific takes including a Cuban burrito w fried plantains, a poke burrito, a sushi burrito and a jalapeno popper chicken burrito. I've had about four different burritos there and loved all four. But I will not go back there. I've had it The service is so bad. You wait nearly 10 minutes just to get served... And this is counter service. There's never been a line I've waited in, they just don't seem to be in a hurry to help. Sometimes they'll even come do something at the register, and then go back in the kitchen without acknowledging the customers. This is by no means exaggeration. The last two times I've ordered there, I LITERALLY waited 30+ mins for my food. Isn't this the same food that chipotle and Qdoba get me instantaneously? It'd be one thing if they were kind or apologetic, but you get a distinct vibe that they could care less that you're there. In fact, I've felt like my presence is a nuisance. Their bottomless mimosa's are good but very sweet. After a couple, I asked them to leave out the blood orange puree; which is a cool twist, but it was chalked full of sugar. Burrito Envy is a Benson fast casual place that serves burritos, bowls, and wraps. After reading some of the Yelp reviews, I stayed far away from the sushi burrito/seafood and ordered a California burrito. These are typically my favorite type of Mexican American burritos. The burrito itself was great- the steak was legit steak with good flavor and it had a nice balance of guac/tater tots/cheese. Usually the fries/tots get very soggy with everything in there but this wasn't the case at B.E. Overall, a very solid burrito. The interior was clean and the service was quick/good for lunch on a Friday. I'd say the biggest downside to B.E. is the price. It's $10 for a burrito here, one that isn't massive in size. From a price point comparison, you can get a $6-7 burrito at Lina's or Aberlardo's that's of equal size or bigger. I liked my B.E. burrito a bit more than some of those places, but 30% more? Not sure. The value probably isn't there to go consistently. That being said, Burrito Envy has its place as a fast casual burrito restaurant in a hot spot of town. It'd likely be good for bigger groups who have pretty diverse tastes. I'd return for sure. read more

This is my second visit. The bar part continues to disappoint me. We were promptly greeted (this was late night saturday) and seated inside the bar with Chips by the pleasant African American gent who was super pleasant. I waited for 20 minutes for the bartender (who was chatting with a few people at the bar)to take our order but he couldn't care less. Eventually had to go counter to order food and to the bartender to get drinks, who clearly was upset to be working. The Fire-braised chicken bowl was good and the carne asada burrito was excellent. Maybe I'm biased because I liked Baxter so much (previous pizza tenant) but Burrito Envy was just OK. The space is the same, with some rasta music and surfboards tacked to the wall instead of the New Yorker vibe Baxter had, but its generally the same thing as Baxter minus pizza+tacos/burritos. We sampled the tacos and the chips with queso and the staff was nice enough toss in some salsa and jalapeño too. They seemed to have purchased everything from Baxter, since I noticed the stools and high tops and the dinnerware was the same. The tacos were just fine while sober-nothing to make a special trip for, but probably taste amazing when drunk. Same on the queso and chips-but this is a dish I would actually enjoy equally sober and drunk ;). The queso was thick, creamy, cheesy and delicious. The chips were thin, crispy, and warm-which I liked. The salsa was pretty spicy, and I liken the look and style to Chipotle's medium blend. Overall-reasonable weekly specials for food and tequila during the week, and very good hours for evenings and late night.
