The latte, oh man this is what separates DIY lattes at home from going out to buy them. It's kinda Mexican food, it's kinda not. You have to go in there knowing that. While you get something that looks like a huge burrito, the insides consists of more processed sauces (sour cream, 'guacamole', etc). Whatever it is, it tastes great. My favorite burrito is the JVC Pork Spicy Vic's special. Essentially it's a burrito with everything + the meat of your choice + spicy sauce + melted cheese, a side of chips and lettuce with a tomato on the side. Essentially a wet burrito. It's definitely worth a try -- just be aware that they're closed on Sundays. If you don't know what you want, just ask the guys behind the counter and they'll be sure to help you. The overnight shipping works great as well once you're addicted. read more

This used to be my absolute favorite bean and cheese burrito place for several years. Unfortunately, for the past three visits in the past year it has been pretty bad! I don't know if they changed their recipe or there are new owners, but the taste and quality has definitely gone down hill. The cheese is not completely melted in the burrito, I see small diced chunks of white cheese in the bean and the taste is off. Also, I get this uncomfortable fullness after eating just one. Literally been coming here all my life. Born and raised in Pasadena and this place was always are go to order out food back in the day. Place has not changed much and the food is still delicious. Reasonably priced and big portions. Definitely recommend the chicken spicy burrito and taquitos. The taquitos are really good and it really isn't guacamole it is more of an "avocado sauce". love it, love it, love it! the food is all cooked in house (just look over the shoulder of the person taking your order and you'll see the food and salsas being cooked fresh right there. Unlike Taco Bell where food comes pre prepared in a bag (I worked there several years ago). I was reading the "PASADENA WEEKLY-BEST OF PASADENA 08" and guess who won best burrito category, again. Burrito Express is strange -- it's not the cheesy Mexican (fake-mexican) and not authentic Mexican (tacos). It's something else, but it's quite popular and good. Chicken is a hard meat to cook, even if it's thigh meat. This chicken taco was so juicy. I was pleasantly surprised. They also have burritos and horchata. I'm also a connoisseur of Horchata. I know it's not hard to make, and sometimes people use just powdered stuff, and even if this was powdered, it was the good powdered stuff. lol As for the ambience, it is a street corner fast food, regular. If you need a bathroom, there's a park down the street that has a restroom if you wanna go to the bathroom or wash your hands. The only negative I have about this business is they don't use real guacamole, it's an avocado salsa. Only 1 table and a few chairs, so we ate on top of the hood of our car. We really enjoyed our experience and if they used real guacamole, I would've given 5 stars.

Realizing that any combination was possible in their recipe box, I chose the following: 1 Burrito Mojado/ Wet 1 #14. 2 Enchilada Mole 1 Quesadilla con Carne, They packed up everything carefully and I was on my way after about 10 to 12 minutes. I was handed my food by Angel. He indicated that the next time I was in I should order some other family specialties. I look forward to trying their hard and soft tacos, chicken tostada, nachos chile Relleno and their sandwiches. He said their Cubano Sandwich is very popular. The quesadilla was very flavorful with spiced chicken. The enchilada with mole was a real treat with great smoke and spicy flavor. The burrito was moist with just the right amount of spice. There was no need for their homemade red or green salsa. They have a large open room adjacent to the ordering counter. It is filled with tables and booths. There are many times that they are very busy. If you have a group call ahead and let them know. There is a wait sometimes but it is usually not very long. The weekends are the busiest. And it seems to be the entire day as people love going out for breakfast. They have a parking lot alongside the building and there is some street parking available.
