Love Oakobing! Usually I have a great experience because the shaved ice quality is pretty good and ends up being pretty creamy. I've gotten the Oreo shaved ice and the strawberry Matcha shaved ice in the past and both have been pretty delicious. Service is minimal because you just order on the screen and then your dessert will come out fairly quickly. Luckily, we went on a weekday so it wasn't as busy but other reviews have said that there's sometimes a line. Ambience is fairly snug with limited seating if you visit during peak hours. Parking is limited outside to street parking and metered parking.
This place is really enjoyable! Paying upfront might be a little different, but it's all part of the experience. We enjoyed some delicious Matcha, mango , and melon --all very refreshing and clean. Just a heads-up, it tends to get quite busy after 3pm on Sundays, so it's a cozy, family-friendly spot with small seating. Hope you have a great time!
We entered, it's a small place, but it was nice and bright. We ordered on the screen, paid, and then waited for them to call us. The shaved ice came out quickly. So glad we came before the rush as after we got our shaved ice, there ran out of seats! The ice was very soft and we loved how it was not too sweet but we could add some watered down condensed milk on top if we wanted to. The flavors also really came through in the ice. The whole dessert was absolutely light, refreshing, and delicious. They also have lattes and croffles. I highly recommend. We got the mango melon & strawberry matcha shaved ice. Will definitely be back to try the strawberry and black sesame!
This location is small and the line was long but the service is fast. You can't really see the employees of the store because you wait in line order at the single kiosk then pick up your order. This dessert is amazing though. I am hooked and will be looking for this stuff in any city I visit. Cheers!

presentation here is phenomenal. they had a huuuuuuuge shaved snow with a little pyramid wall of melon balls and a light milk drizzle. the mango snow was ok, it wasn't creamy enough to my liking and the flavor was mid. i didn't like the lack of toppings variety here, and the snow not being of a stand out flavor/texture made it just average for me. my dog liked it tho
Walked over after having dinner nearby. It was just ok. The dessert is refreshing but mochi was tiny and hard. The menu is very limited. The portion is huge and definitely shareable. The matcha latte was not good. It tasted artificial.

The place had a a clean look to it. They also have free water. My sister got the Oreo tiramisu and I got the strawberry. We liked that they come in individual sizes but even then I think we could've shared. Both were super refreshing although I definitely liked the strawberry more because it was more refreshing.
This was my first time experiencing bingsu and it did not disappoint. Although this is located in the heart of Pasadena, the distance it took to get there is well worth it. Many flavors and side options to choose from. I had the Injeolmi and the mixture of milk and red beans is just pure heaven!

UPDATED: It took 1 hour and 20 minutes to get shaved ice. We drove here specifically to try this place as kiddo and hubby wanted shaved ice. We arrived to a packed cafe but we still got in line to order something from a kiosk as the line wasn't bad. While the line was short the line didn't move very fast at all. All the tables were full but no one except one table was eating any shaved ice. While we waited to order an announcement came over the PA not to order extra fruit. Then a few minutes later, they announced that they were cutting off orders then another 10 minutes they shut down orders until 4pm. I'm an hour in and I still do not have any shaved iced. I don't care how popular or viral a place gets. When you have two people in the back and backed up orders that you can't fill, you simply don't know the operations portion of your business. You could pay two, three more kids $15 bucks and rake in more profits. Instead you have a bunch of pissed off people. Below is a picture of the shaved ice of the only people eating in the full cafe when I walked in. I wonder if we will ever get ours?
So we came today from an instagram post and so did almost everyone else here. Needless to say they were not prepared at all!! There was 1 worker all by herself and she tried her best. However we all waited well over an hour for shaved ice. She had to shut down orders because she couldn't keep up on a hot, busy Saturday!! We were told 20 min wait time but over an hour later, we finally got our order. It wasn't even in order since the lady behind us who I helped place the order got hers before all of us. 2 girls order 38&39 was waiting before us how why did 44 get hers before all of us. Who knows. She tried her best but needed help!! Once the owner finally showed up, they opened back up for orders even though they still haven't caught up??!?!! Who knows. As for the actual mango single, it was very refreshing and not too sweet at all! Great treat on a hot day. The food itself is probably a 4. However service and then having to pay extra for more parking since they took soo long was a bit much. We drive all the way from the OC so we had to be patient. Worth a try if you can go when there is no crowds!!
I love Korean shaved ice and this place rates way up there against all the other shaved iced places I've been here in the states and in Korea. Not only was the flavor amazing (which made me want to return and try them all) but the presentation was definitely instagram worthy. The one negative is that the seating was not plentiful for all their customers but this is definitely not a negative for the owners. That just means they have a great business. Location is in old town so parking might be a challenge. read more
A Little Cheat Night Never Hurt Nobody! After eating the juiciest chicken ever at Loli Farms, I've been eyeing this dessert spot for a while, and luckily it was only 1.6 miles away. So obviously... dessert was happening. Perfect excuse for a little cheat-night treat! Parking Hack: Don't pay $5 for parking! We parked about 7 minutes away in a parking structure for only $1 for 2 hours. After all the delicious food I inhaled, I definitely didn't mind getting a little extra cardio in. Pasadena parking is definitely doing the most, so parking structure it was! Mango Melon Shaved Ice -- $8.50 | 7.8/10 Mango-flavored shaved ice topped with melon balls and served with a side of milk drizzle. The shaved ice itself was SO soft and fluffy, and the milk drizzle gave it just the right amount of sweetness. The only thing was... I really couldn't taste much mango in the shaved ice. It was pretty subtle, so I wouldn't say this one completely blew me away, but it was still a refreshing treat on a hot summer night. Definitely not the best I've had, but certainly not the worst! Injeolmi Shaved Ice -- $7.50 | 7.7/10 Milk-flavored shaved ice topped with mochi, layers of Injeolmi powder, and more milk drizzle. This was actually our first time trying Injeolmi, so we were curious! The combination of the soft shaved ice, milk drizzle, and nutty Injeolmi powder was really good and made for a fun flavor combination. My only complaint? THE MOCHI. They were soooo tiny! I wanted that satisfying chewy squish, but these little guys basically tasted like mini boba that disappeared the second I bit into them. The shaved ice itself was perfectly soft and honestly the star of both desserts. Inside, there aren't a ton of tables, but luckily we snagged one right when we walked in. And let me tell you... this place had a constant flow of customers the entire hour we were there! People were coming in and out left and right, with only one ordering machine, so expect a little patience if it gets busy. Overall, both shaved ices were pretty decent and made for the perfect little "I already ate too much but I'm still getting dessert" moment. Definitely a nice way to break the diet after our chicken feast! Would I come back? Absolutely, especially to try some of their other shaved ice flavors. Happy desserts! read more
Very good! Not as good as the K-Town location because this place had zero care given to it, but quality was very close. It's digital order screens only and located in a very walkable part of Pasadena. I like their bingsu because it's both lite AND creamy at the same time! It'a a fruity and milky treat. The melon they used was super fresh. That surprised me. The amount of melon also felt more generous than the amount of melon in K-town. I added on condensed milk, mochi, and Oreo. It didn't need ANYYYY of that haha it just raised the price almost $8! I do not recommend that! Just get a large melon as is! Service was bad. Non-existent. You barely see the workers and table are dirty and a sign literally says "use wipes to clean table if dirty" next to Lysol wipes lmao this place makes you order yourself, get your food yourself, clear your table yourself, and clean the table yourself. Wild what the average restaurant is training us to be ok with. Ambiance was average interior design, but it was kinda filthy in there. I can't give 5 starts to a dirty restaurant. Gotta satisfy my girl's sweet tooth, so I caved and tried it too since it's in old town. First thing I noticed is that it's a smaller spot, so there wasn't too much seating available especially since it's after dinner time. I feel like they give a really good amount. We shared the smaller sized shaved ice and it was a perfect amount. Service was quick on the kiosk and it's bright inside. Thought they could use some decorations though. Melon shaved ice, 8/10: Refreshing and not too sweet. Probably what they were going for. They give a good amount of melon and it was sweet. Pleasantly surprised at how juicy the fruit was too. read more

Love how soft the bingsoo here is! We ordered a single serving of mango shaved snow and it was enough for the four of us to share. It wasn't too sweet or too heavy so it was a nice treat after dinner. The store is a bit small and it can be hard to find seating, but we came on a Saturday night which may explain the crowd. read more

I came with a friend to check this location out and I was pleasantly surprised: it's as good as the Koreatown location. The have a promo in which you get one large shaved ice (bingsu) with two drinks for just 26 dollars. It's totally worth it. Both drinks (Injeolmi Latte and Strawberry Milk) were great but the strawberry milk was better in my opinion. The whole place was quite busy and there was a line but we still got dispatched quickly and in a prompt manner. read more

My sis-in-law recommended grabbing Korean bingsu from Oakobing after a filling Korean dinner at Sun Nong Dan in the SGV. I was looking forward to Oakobing as my SIL said their original location is in Koreatown. Parking seems to be a hassle here; you'd either have to pay an arm and a leg or find a free, but distant parking spot and walk to Oakobing. SIL dropped us off in front of the shop, so that made the experience more pleasant. She ended up parking next to the Pasadena City Hall (yes, the Pawnee City Hall from "Parks and Rec!"). The ordering process and menu itself are pretty simple--small menu at a self-service kiosk. My husband ordered three regular-sized bingsu flavors for six adults and three kids--mango melon, Oreo tiramisu, and injeolmi. My other SIL, the mom of the three kids was hoping for strawberry bingsu instead of mango melon. I didn't realize the melon bingsu was flavored with mango until I reviewed the menu while writing this review. Because we had our bingsu after dinner, most of our group had the tiramisu without the side of coffee, though my husband and I enjoyed the coffee taste. The splash of coffee didn't keep us up at night. The family's favorite was injeolmi with a side of red bean. All bingsu came with a mochi topping as well. I liked that all bingsu was evenly covered with flavor; not a single bite of plain ice as I'd find in some bingsu places in Hawaii! So grateful we can have that Koreatown experience without leaving the 626 by way of Sun Nong Dan and Oakobing! read more
My sister and I have been planning to try this business for months now! We finally tried it and it was worth the wait! The place is cute and intimate. Not a lot of items on the menu, making decision making a bit easier. We all got the exact same thing. Mango melon shaved ice. The portions are BIG it's definitely shareable, we honestly should have shared but we decided to each get our own. If I had to describe it, I would say the mango shaved ice was so light and fluffy it was like cotton candy but in an ice cream form. It melted on as soon as it hit your tongue! It wasn't heavy either, I didn't finish the whole thing but I definitely could have. Or was delicious and refreshing. When we asked for tops to get it to go, the cashier also gave up ice packs. I definitely recommend. And I'll definitely be back! read more
Came here and got the matcha and the strawberry shaved ice, and both were sooo good. The matcha was super rich and flavorful, and the red beans with mochi really made it perfect. The strawberry shaved ice was just as good, really rich, not artificial at all. Portions were massive, especially for the price, and the service was great. I've been here multiple times already and it never disappoints. If I'm not wrong, the original location is in Koreatown, so it's really nice to have one so close to me now. Parking is street only, but there's a paid lot nearby if you need it. The inside is cute and on the smaller side, but there's still a good amount of seating. Such a refreshing treat! I had the Mango Melon shaved ice, and it was so good. The shaved ice was unbelievably soft and fluffy, the melon was fresh and sweet, and the milk drizzle added just the right amount of sweetness. It was the perfect dessert for a hot summer day. Ordered the Oreo Tiramisu bingsu and I liked the texture but I definitely had better as the bingsu itself didn't really have any flavor. The flavor relied on the toppings alone. I think it would've been better if I just stuck with the fruit flavor bingsu options. read more
NO REAL CUSTOMER SERVICE YET THERE'S A SPOT FOR TIP ================================================ I looked at the menu before I arrived and knew I wanted green tea with a matcha drizzle. No help with the kiosk of course. I am not sure why I felt the need to tip for no service. I asked for help and the lady who had her back to any customers said I could only get milk. Not the thick condensed type of milk and more like the consistency of regular milk. The place is really dingy inside. Fake plants by the door with really dirty looking pots. The windows were disgustingly dirty. The walls needed paint. I won't return and I am really glad I didn't drag my son to this place. read more

my mom and I got the strawberry shaved ice, which was honestly big enough for 3 people haha! It was a stacked strawberry ice mound with plenty of semi-frozen strawberries and a little cup of milk drizzle which has a thin consistency to pour on top. You order through a touch screen and sit down, I'd recommend grabbing a seat as soon as you can because tables fill up fast + bring a layer cause you tend to feel colder when eating frozen dessert read more
I visited Oakobing Pasadena on Nov. 8 for the first time and arrived around opening time. Since they open at 1 PM, I waited about 20 minutes outside. But when I finally walked in, the place had an unpleasant smell--almost like strong cleaning chemicals--that wasn't very welcoming. When I tried to place my order, their system wasn't working. I'm not sure if it was the wires or something not connected properly, but the register wouldn't process anything. The frustrating part was that the staff didn't seem concerned at all. Whether we waited or not didn't matter to them, and after already waiting outside, it felt really disappointing. It wasn't a good first impression, and honestly, I left feeling pretty upset after wasting that time. read more

Old town pasadena has 3 free 90 minute parking lots ($2/hour after and there is a set amount past a certain time at night) on Green Street, De Lacey Avenue, and Raymond Avenue. The Raymond parking lot is closest to oakobing.
