Burritos! Just Burritos, they are large, fresh & tasty! Got here at 6:55, I didn't realize they open at 7am, waited outside not a problem, the young woman opened the store right at 7am, they were ready to go: pleasantly greeted with a beautiful smile, helpful & quick. Straight forward store 5 tables inside & a couple outside. Very busy place. I ordered ahead via DoorDash pick up so I would not need to wait. Lady at front counter was efficient but not friendly. I picked burrito up at designated time, but it was lukewarm at best. All that considered burrito was too delicious to give any less than 4 stars. Ambiance is cool. Very disappointed. Ordered a green chili and egg burrito. It had meat in it and I don't eat meat. I went all the way back for a new burrito and they made me pay for a new one. I got a steak breakfast burrito, it was way too salty. Everything was too salty. They like their salt. I could feel it in my throat 20 minutes later and my belly hurts. I'll have to see how it comes out later tonight. Hopefully it's not to bad. If I can give negative stars I would. read more

I'll admit, I've been guilty of overlooking Burrito Express, assuming a local chain couldn't match the authenticity of a hole-in-the-wall Mexican joint. I was so wrong. I'm currently devouring their steak breakfast burrito and I'm blown away. The flavors are incredible. Even the complementary salsa they toss in is a spicy delight that perfectly complements the burrito. Burrito Express might be all over the valley, but they definitely don't sacrifice quality for convenience. This steak breakfast burrito is a godsend, and I'm already planning my next visit. Who knows, I might even branch out and try something new on the menu... but it'll be hard to resist ordering this gem again! There was a long line building up after I ordered and noticed the gentleman running the register was handling the rush very well. The staff is very friendly and despite all of the orders, my food came out in a timely manner. By far the best burritos in the entire valley! I've been to other so called best Mexican restaurants/burritos and I always return here and don't bother going anyplace else anymore. Always fresh, always delicious. The customer service in this location is also top notch. The girls working here are terrific. Had a simple breakfast burrito of eggs and potatoes and I added onions. The place was a bit hectic and the cashier was trying to fill green salsa while taking orders. The green salsa looked dark and nasty on that day, so stick to the red sauce. Burrito was decent, but small. read more

The new girl who's taking orders has no common sense/courtesy. burritos are bland, tortillas are gross, the meat is the worst part though! much better mexican food pretty much anywhere else. my bf used to be a regular, but i've shown him much better places now! they also have a very aggressive twitter account, that makes weird posts about not speaking spanish even though they profit off selling mexican food. i was going to mind my business and let them sell their disgusting food to others in peace, but that deserves to be called out! read more

Food is always amazing. SERVICE is outstanding. You always feel welcome and the staff leave you with such a big smile. While the store is smaller there is plenty of seating and you get your order so quick seats open up fast. Love how they decorate for the holidays to keep the festive spirit alive. STRONGLY RECOMMEND. AMAZING hand crafted home made burritos, awesome food here. Friendly people working at ALL the Burrito Express locations I have been to, and this is Scottsdale's ONLY Burrito Express location, the rest are mostly East Valley and Tempe. The steak is trimmed up perfectly and super delicious, excellent tortillas, very tasty and fresh on everything and great red and green salsas. THIS PLACE KEEPS ME COMING BACK...ALWAYS. This place is legit! I'm a breakfast burrito fanatic and have ordered from many places in Tempe/scottsdale. Now it's my go-to. Fantastic prices which is how a burrito should be. Don't let the lower prices fool you though...the burritos are unreal! So good and big too! I've tried a bunch both breakfast and regular and they never disappoint. The steak is so dang good. Really good food! The chips were freshly made and really good. I got 2 soft tacos one beef and one chicken both are good. I love the taco shell it's like a pita bread so soft. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.

Still good food, good drinks, great service. But the menu change doesn't have me to excited. Also, for a nicer restaurant, the swamp cooler right at the entry doesn't give a great first impression. Feels like that could be solved with some modifications to how the HVAC is routed and some shades on the front door/windows.

If you're concerned about Covid-19 sanitation practices, don't go here. Went there this morning and saw a line of customers inside a small room. None them nor the workers (cooks or counter person) were wearing masks. If the establishment doesn't care enough to practice or enforce social distancing or have their workers' show respect for the health and safety of the customer by wearing masks to limit the possibility of discharge to the customer. I wasn't that hungry to risk my hard fought health. Sad, because I used to go there at least a couple times a week. No longer on my list. read more

I stopped by Burrito Express and had a great experience from start to finish. Erika, one of the workers there recommended the carne asada burrito, and I'm so glad she did it was absolutely delicious. The meat was tender and seasoned perfectly, and the whole burrito was packed with flavor. Excellent service and even better food. Got a steak and potato burrito enchilada style and a shredded beef taco. The burrito was very tasty and the enchilada style was a good call. The taco shell was a little soft. I ordered a veggie bowl, chicken burrito and a large drink. The price was a little high, but everything seems to be more expensive these days. The portion size on the bowl was great, my girlfriend ended up eating half for lunch and the other half for dinner. The chicken burrito was decent but seemed to be lacking flavor and the chicken was sparse. I've had better experiences with the food at other Qdoba locations but will give this one another try whenever I'm in the area again.

They straight up just didn't make my order last time when I showed up 30 mins after it was placed. I'm starting to think Cafe Rio just lacks management in general. They are just terrible w customer service and to go. Stay away to avoid your time and money being wasted.

I had already eyed the menu before getting there and decided on the two tacos for $10 -- I got the beer battered cauliflower and the Fried Paneer -- I was feeling strictly veg vibes that night and really was stoked to try their veggie options. My mom tried the Hot Nashville tofu taco and we ordered a side of guac and chips and two margs -- my mom got the classic and I got the watermelon basil on the rocks with salt (you can also get them blended). We decided to sit outside because the AC was cranked and it was so cold for my mom -- I thought there might be misters on the patio but there were not. I would say 6/10 on the taco scale. My mom had the Nashville Hot Tofu and it was very spicy and actually didn't taste like anything but hot and then bland tofu.
