I have to say, reading a lot of the yelp reviews people have left are petty 1 star reviews that were undeserved. This business works hard to please their customers. They have a cook that will "sometimes" open the doors earlier just to get your breakfast burrito order in. Oh, and as far as quality, the best breakfast burrito in town! Warning! Burrito Express is like meth. Once you taste it, it is very hard to put down. Their menudo is only available on weekends and runs out fast, so get there before 11am or don't bother trying. Notice the people in line bringing huge pots to be filled with menudo? Nuff said. Their carne asada burrito is bursting with flavor (make it "super," with avocado and cream). It's enough to feed two people, yet I always eat the whole thing. I know my belly will hurt yet I cannot stop.... Not impressed at all... My friend has been hyping up this spot saying its the best burrito in town and the first question I asked him was, "do they put a ton of meat!" And he replied, "that's what people go there for!!" So finally I decided to roll through there right after getting out of the gym since its in the same plaza. First off I forgot they are strictly cash only or check. I don't even remember the last time I carried on a check on me so that's out of the question. I ran over to the ATM machine at chevron which cost me an additional 4 dollars to withdraw (2 from the machine, 2 from my bank) So I got my money and at this point I'm thinking its all good it will be worth it! I ordered a carne asada super burrito minus the beans and cheese. When I got there my order was ready so I paid and took off. I get to my work with this massive burrito ready to tear it up. I took my first bite and all I got was rice. So I keep eating waiting for the meat and about 1/3 down the burrito a little bit of meat was finally coming out. Now I'm thinking ok cool maybe all the meat is in the middle!! Wrong!! From that bite to the very end there was hardly any meat at all. Felt like I ate a straight up vegetarian burrito overstuffed with rice. Truly dissapointed with what I got. First and last time I'm heading to this place. Now I'm just waiting for my friend to come to work so I can choke him out for hyping up a vegetarian burrito spot. read more

No stars! Horrible customer service! I don't know if the girl is shy or is just that plain incompetent but either of those make for a horrible waitress. She didn't re-fill our waters, she didn't ask us if everything was ok after we got our food (which it wasn't, the menu states that the super burrito has salsa in it but there was no salsa in mine but a whole lotta grease.) There was a woman waiting to pay at the register and the waitress was just wiping down the table like she hadn't a care in the world, the least she could have done was acknowledge the woman that was waiting to pay and say something like "I'll be right with you ma'am" but nope she carried on till she was done with the table. I am proud to say that after another reluctant try, Lester S. is now a strong Burrito Express believer. Whatever happened back there when he got his "hardly any meat" burrito, we will never know --our best guess is glitch in the time/space continuum, and now his meat is lonely somewhere in Antarctica, all five pounds of it freezing, becoming a fossilized representation of a legendary fluke that was his first order. Also, to be fair, I did warn him about the cash-only situation. It's for tax purposes. My husband and I stopped in here for the first time last weekend and this will be our stop from now on! We had never been here and tried the carnitas burrito. I wish we didn't share it because it was the absolute best burrito we have ever had. The meat was super tender, the rice was cooked perfectly and everything else was the cherry on top. We live in Sacramento but every time we take a trip to the bay, we will be stopping here. They are open in the morning which is another plus. Highly recommend! read more

I'd give it 5 stars if only they'd take debit/credit cards for payment (this place is cash only). My family and I went in today, ordered our meals, enjoyed the food, and then were left embarrassed by the fact that neither my wife or I had remembered to bring cash with us. I left my wife and kids at the restaurant while I drove to the ATM. While on my way to get some cash, my wife called me to let me know that a kind man had just paid for our meal!!!! Sir, whoever you are... God bless you. I'm embarrassed but grateful. That said, the carne asada and carnitas soft tacos are AMAZING!!! Two words: Carnitas Burrito. So good. They cook the carnitas on a flat top grill right before they make the burrito so you get those little crispy pieces. Bomb. If you call in your order, it's almost guaranteed that it will be ready when you get there. I've ordered from here dozens of times and it's the same response every time on the phone "ready in 7 minutes", and they mean it. Very affordable, very clean restaurant. Staff is great and the overall experience is consistently good. Only reason it's a 4 and not 5 star rating is the payment options. Cash or check only. Seriously. I almost thought they were joking the first time I heard that. That being said, it's worth it to make an extra stop for cash before you go. Burrito express food was great. The reason behind the two star is for the cleanliness. I saw one of the waitresses handle money with another customer, then grab some tortillas with her bare hands when I asked her to bring me some. That should be the responsibility of the cook; waitresses should not handle food at all. They need to read up on their health policies because one of these days, one of their customers is going to pay the price for it. Other than that, service was nice! read more

Great Food! Only one complaint somebody put American cheese slices on my nachos last week :( if this continues I will take my business elsewhere. If I wanted Taco Bell nachos I would buy them at Taco Bell. Usually the nachos are superb, The chimichanga is a good bet too. Food was horrible! Ordered hot seafood soup had no flavor , and I had to peel the shrimp?! The ham breakfast burrito was salty and the potatoes were not cooked thoroughly . I asked cashier if the shrimp was a mistake and she replied no that's the way they serve it I also told her about burrito and she just sighed. She did not offer to make things right. I love love LOVE Burrito Express! This place is the same every time I go. I used to live 40 minutes from my dad. He would drive up to see me every Tuesday and we would almost always go here. They have fantastic carne asada tacos (get them with everything), and they're 6 for $6! I have great memories here. I now live about 60 miles away and still go to Vacaville to visit friends. I only go in there every 3 months maybe, and they remember me! This place is fantastic if you need a delicious Mexican food fix. read more

I love this place, it has a nice family run vibe. Usually I'm ordering the shrimp tacos, but many of the menu items are fantastic also. There are a few items on the menu that seem like they are included because Americans expect some things in a "Mexican" restaurant, but you'll find some shining star items for sure. Slices of avocado add some taste, but the meat is rather bland (both chicken and carne asada) and the amount of rice is overkill. Stop the car and get out to get your grub on. This is a simple no nonsense Mexico restaurant service quick, inexpensive and quite flavorful food. A super burrito is enough for two to share. It is authentic which can mean it can be high calorie OR not. Skip the cheese and sour cream and u b alright. But if you want to splurge then get the flan. It is just heavenly!! I don't really like flan but bought it for my son and it was so good that I wanted to indulge just for myself. Burritos are the go to choice for me but a simple taco can hit of the spot, especially if you are not too hungry. However, the actual restaurant was pretty hard to find since the sign only says "Express" instead of Burrito Express.
