Improved food quality is needed. First time here probably won't be back. One lady working was kind but the food did not settle well.

Big props to the cook and the refried beans presentation. Interior and the exterior was clean and the ambiance was pleasurable. Totally recommend.

Taxco is more of a hipster take on this cuisine with many options for vegans and vegetarians. Of course there's plenty of available meaty items. You can find things for everyone thankfully. Came at lunch and it was pretty busy. It's not a big place meaning there's not much room inside for big crowds so it will always seem busy of course. The menu is what's big about it though. Lots of things to choose from. There's a shit ton to get here seriously. Has a section of things for vegans and vegetarians which makes it a lot easier for us to choose. There's still too much to choose from though. It's about $15 for the Char-Grilled Cauliflower Torta, which is a pretty big sandwich filled with good stuff. There's avocado, lettuce, charred pineapple, refried beans, pickled onions, and tomatoes. Also there's tacos of course. It's about $15 for the Taxco Tofu Tacos. Good and hot. These are filled with cayenne, cumin, and garlic tofu, and topped with avocado and cabbage slaw. Also there's a few other things that can be made plant based. There's enough on the menu for those wanting beef and chicken to be honest. Good place for interesting takes on Mexican food. It's closed Sundays and Mondays. There's plenty for meat eaters and a ton of options for vegans and vegetarians.

Had some pretty good drinks and okay food at this Mexican restaurant in DeKalb. It for sure isn't…read moreas authentic as some can be but it seems good enough for the people around here. Los Rancheros is a place that has a pretty big menu of classics and specials. A lot of the typical items. The prices are kind of high but you get a lot on a plate. Could be disappointed if expecting authentic flavors. It's like a lot of the typical restaurants around here of this style. There's typical favorites like chimichangas and all that. Kind of pricy for some items. Seems the portions are big though. It's about $12 for a margarita. There's also bigger ones that cost even more but these are humongous ass ones. Food is not that bad. It's about $16 for the Veggie Taco Salad. This has broccoli, cauliflower, mushrooms, onions, peppers, squash, tomatoes, and zucchini. Also there's the cheese sauce and sour cream which I left off. This is also topped with guacamole, lettuce, and tomatoes. Big enough we could share it. There's a crap ton of things on the menu so you can get burritos or even seafood like scallops. Good place for getting some Americanized Mexican food. It's located in DeKalb Market Square close to Wal-Mart and other chain stores. This is maybe the most authentic one around so whatever.

Fantastic food and service My family has been here before…read morebut was my first time. Absolutely loved it. Great chips and salsa. Each of us had something different and we all enjoyed it. My NIU student found this place when their club needed a place for a lot of people last minute (other restaurant they had reserved couldn't do it last minute). After a great experience there for that, she's brought other family members back. I can't wait to come back and try the different margaritas

Best bar in DeKalb County! This is me and my friend's favorite bar to go to. Great service and fun,…read morefriendly crowd

Ah, good old Cub and Spanks…read more.. Now I've only been coming here for the past couple of months, but they fulfill a couple of requirements I require in a bar. 1) cheap drinks. And I don't mean this place is the kind of establishment that serves drinks in red solo cups, they serve them in regular plastic tumbler cups, and they're not bottom shelf garbage liquids either. A Jameson and Ginger ale will set you back a whopping $4. I feel like I'm stealing from the bar when I drink here! This is a good thing. 2) conversational level of crowd noise. This place has never been so loud that I couldn't hear the person I was sitting with, granted, we haven't come here on a Friday or Saturday night, so consider that the asterisk. I prefer a place where u don't need a bullhorn to talk to someone 3 feet away. 3) shuffleboard table. This place will always have a special place in my heart since I popped my shuffleboard cherry here on September 30th after closing out Charter Fitness. However, they've since replaced the old board with a new-fangled board with the prison bars that come up in the middle to avoid free plays, and the table is but crooked. Not that I'm a cheapskate and try to play for free, but the sand gets stuck in the holes so when you start a game, you have to manually push the bars in in order to allow your pucks to slide freely from end to end. I know, I know, #firstworldproblems 3) jukebox. Since the beginning if time, man has attempted to push forth their culture on those around them, and this is the perfect way to do it. You can even control the jukebox from your phone! Well, your smartphone at least. I don't think your Motorola StarTAC is going to help you out here, nor will your Nokia 8200. 4) regulars. You will see the same people day in day out here, whatever day of the week. They may or may not remember that you had a conversation about whatever you had a conversation about, but they're friendly. Or you can chalk it up to this place being a townie bar, but I won't call it that. Come to Cubbies, sidle up to the bar, and maybe drop a buck on a game of shuffleboard or two. If I'm there, say hello and challenge me to a game. I might show you a thing or two. Or not. I've only been playing for a couple if months...
