Good Mexican food as far as around here. It was better than it looked to be sure as it was in a strip mall. Oh M G is about the only place in Elburn to get burritos, tacos, and the like it seems. Helps there's a lack of competition. This place would be in trouble but lucky for them they're the only game in town. After needing to make a stop for a drink I came in. It's next to a liquor store, and I thought why not just come here and get food too. They have both of these here, so this is where I went. It's about $12 for a margarita. The Signature Marilu Margarita is a couple bucks more and is made with house tequila, lime and orange juice, and orange liquor, probably Triple Sec. It was refreshing as fuck. Turns out it was better than the food to be honest. Food actually was pretty good. The Border Nachos is the best thing. It's $8 for a big plate. These are topped with cheese and sour cream, which I left off, as well as beans, jalapeños, and tomatoes. Has a lack of vegetarian choices. The burritos and tacos all have beef, chicken, or something else meaty. Have to say it's the best Mexican place in town, because besides this, the only other choice is Taco Bell. Good food at fair prices. The service was a little slow. There was only one person cooking, serving, and taking online orders, so I patiently waited for my walk-in takeout order. The atmosphere was fairly quiet while I waited. A place you could bring the family and have a sit-down meal. It took about thirty minutes from start to end. I have been a couple times, and have not been disappointed. The food is fresh, hot, and flavorful. The margaritas were strong, but just okay for me. First I tried the burrito, which I definitely recommend! It came with fries and I was absolutely not disappointed. The fries almost stole the show from the burrito because they were so well flavored and cooked! The enchiladas I had (with red sauce) were flavorful and a filling portion size. And the quesadillas were good as well. Each interaction with employees has been pleasant. They were informative on menu recommendations, prompt and courteous while serving, and keep a clean location. We tried two different burritos, one with ground beef, and one with pork. There was a lot of meat in the ground beef burrito, but hardly any at all in the pork burrito. But the main disappointment was the taste of each of the meats. Both of them were really not enjoyable. I was very disappointed hoping for a good restaurant in Elburn to add to the list. Thanks to one of my coworkers I got a taste for tacos. A quick search made me realize this place had opened so we gave it a try. I called to place a to-go order and the gentleman who answered the phone was very pleasant to speak to. He also asked if a 30 minute wait for the order would be ok which I felt was very thoughtful. I ordered 3 ground beef tacos with rice and beans, the wife got chicken enchiladas with green sauce, and we split the border nachos with steak. Our order was ready when I arrived 30 minutes later and I noticed that the little restaurant was near capacity. The atmosphere was lively and a touch on the noisy side for me but I wasn't staying anyway. The transaction went smoothly and I stuffed the food into one of my bags to keep things warm during the short trip home. Once we opened up our items we noticed everything looked great and smelled delicious! The border nachos looked the best so I grabbed one and was amazed with the flavor! The chips were still crispy and all the gooey cheese was still wonderful. The steak was nicely seasoned but the only heat came from the jalapeno peppers on top. The wife loved them too so we would definitely order them again! The wife took a bite of her enchilada and was also very pleased with the flavors! I took a bite too and found it delicious. Spices were balanced and not hot at all. We would both order it again. She also had rice and corn which were flavorful but not extraordinary. As for my tacos, I ordered them with cilantro and onion instead of "gringo" style. I also chose corn tortillas with rice and refried beans. The ground beef was very flavorful and the cilantro and onion gave the tacos that great fresh taste! I'll try flour tortillas next time but the corn ones were good for me. "Oh. M. G.!!" is pretty much what I said after the first bite of mole on my cheese enchilada. (I ordered the enchilada feast.) It is the best mole I've ever eaten and I can't wait to go back to order it again! (Server said there are 50 ingredients, ya'll!) This is just such a gem of a find. For my husband and I, our go-to test of a good mexican restaurant is the beans and rice. Believe it or not, most are flavorless and forgettable but the best ones--worth eating all on their own--are usually an indication we are in for a great dining experience. Oh. M. G. did not disappoint. Our server (I believe she is part owner?) was just wonderful--helpful, friendly, attentive and even remembered us from a year earlier. She recommended the Marylou Margarita (made with fresh squeezed juices), light and fresh, and it was perfect. But to my surprise she also gave me a sample of the seasonal special, dragonfruit, which I just might order next time--fantastic. We started with the ceviche shrimp with mango and avocado, a flavorful, bright and citrus appetizer served with tostada shells . I could have stopped right there and been happy. Sitting here eating my garlic shrimp leftover from last night and it lost nothing overnight in the refrigerator. We have done take-out as well as eaten in at this family owned gem in Elburn. Parking right out front, service with a smile and authentic, plentiful, delicious food. I suppose they could have lost a star for over-all ambience, but I choose to award that star to a spotless restaurant. White-tiled floors in a restaurant? They have that handled. She makes her own tequila and the Sweet Jalapeño was hands down the best flavor I've ever had. I have been on the hunt for good Mexican food since moving to the area. I gotta say this hit the spot! The margaritas, chips, salsa, burritos, and fajitas were all fantastic. I even got take home chips/salsa and margaritas! Service was pretty good! But be patient, it's a small place and if there are quite a few people you may need to flag down someone which is not atypical to Mexican restaurants with waitstaff. Very little put into aesthetics. A bunch of cheap tables lined up against the walls...can seat maybe 40 people. There is a counter area that is littered with dirty glasses, empty beer bottles and empty chips baskets. The cooking is done on the other side of the counter. We arrived and got our appetizers about 60 minutes after arriving. Dinner came about 20 to 25 minutes later. There were two cooks and one server. There was a gentleman, I presume the owner, sitting at the counter but doing nothing to remove the clutter surrounding him. When I used the rest room, I was braced for disaster. But it was very clean thankfully. I have seen different comments about the server. If you take her the right way, like we did, she is warm and friendly. I think she too is frustrated by the slow output from the kitchen. All that said, the food was OK. Our rice and beans were lukewarm. Margaraitas were good. Portions were generous. Everything seemed fresh. People wrote some great reviews here, but I would suggest you drive into Campton Hills for Lupitas or St. Charles for La Mesa. Geneva has great options as well. You will get better food and a much better vibe. Oh M G has upside, but they need to (1) put some money into the room and (2) they need to accelerate the pace of the food coming out of the kitchen and make sure it is piping hot. If they can do that they can move to a bigger location and really kill it. I'm rooting for Oh M G but first impressions are the most important, and if you can't get repeat customers the show is over. read more

We went to this restaurant based on a recommendation from my son . I thought the food was exceptionally fresh and had great flavor . The waitress was very friendly and offered advice on some of the dishes . The Margarita was outstanding ! I wish it was a little cheaper as I might have had two ! Will for sure go back . On our way thru town we stopped for dinner with our two young kids. I was delighted to see that they had decent kids meals. They were so patient with my kids and even offered them a taste of Horchata, which they loved. The place is small. The music wasn't too loud and we were able to have a conversation. Now on to the food. OhMG! They got the name right! The food was excellent. I got the cecina. Cecina is a thin steak. It was excellent and I had enough for lunch the following day. My husband got the enchiladas! YUM! We also had the ceviche portion to share. I think I'll get that as an entree next time. It was a very healthy meal of shrimp with some veggies, not sure what...but it was good. Their margaritas were excellent. We did get their fried ice cream. Kids loved it. Review Never have I felt so I unwelcomed at a restaurant. I've had better service at portillos than I did at this place. We were greeted yes that's fine but the waitress could care less. they act like a 5* restaurant and judge you if you have young kids and act like you shouldn't be here with them. If a full glass breaks because of your tables and the waitress is going to take her sweet time to help you when you and your baby are soaked is a red flag for me. And then when I ask for a towel please and you say wait and then bring me a wet one after you mop the floor and not even ask if you're ok is not how an establishment should start their business. Sure charge me for that drink but at least ask if I want another one instead of ignoring us and not even asking if we needed anything else or at least a glass of water. if you're going to act like you're a high end restaurant get good tables that don't wobble and don't treat your customers with kids rudely. To me a broken glass is part of doing business and asking if I wanted another one is the least you could do after bringing me a dirty wet rag to dry me and my kid off. Food was honestly ok my Eastern European mom makes better Mexican food than what we had. And I'm not saying this because I had a bad experience.
