Teaching my niece how to shoot.

Great place to go out and shoot while enjoying the outdoors. Great basic outdoor shooting area where you can bring your own guns, targets and ammo or you can purchase some targets and ammo inside. They do not rent guns in case you are wondering but if that's what you're looking to do you may need to look elsewhere. Staff and Range Masters are attentive and make sure nobody is being stupid while handing firearms. I take all my friends here who are interested in learning to properly handle and shoot firearms.

Good place to shoot they have a rifle range , pistol range and several private ranges available. I would avoid weekends it gets pretty busy. Range safety officers do a good job keeping people inline.

Ask the Community - Burro Canyon Shooting Park

So we can buy paper target but what about the frame? Is the frame stand with clips already there? I was planning to bring my own paper but worried if you they don't have a stand to place with.

You pay for the frame and if you don't shoot holes in it, then you turn it in when you're done and get your money back

$20 for each person or each range you use doesn't matter how many people?

so it's $20 a person to use the general public ranges which means you'll be shooting with other people. The private ranges cost $40 a person and you have to pay for the first 4 people no matter what. Every person after the first 4 is an additional… Read more

What targets other than pvc and wood can we bring to shoot? Can we bring some fruits to shoot?

I've seen pumpkins and potatoes out on the rifle range. I believe they'll have you put those targets out at the range limit of 210 yards. Never seen them closer than that.

Are you still open 7 days a week as well as the same hours?

    They're open 7 days a week. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

What are the prices for 5.56 or .223 ammo?

    Buy online

I rented out a private range at Burro Canyon. We'll have about 10 - 15 people. Can we rent eye and ear protection from you guys? Or do we have to bring our own?

I believe they only sell eye and ear protection. The ear protection will probably just be the foam ear plugs.

Are we required to purchase ammo there, or can we bring our own?

No. You can take your own. Make sure your ammo is range friendly.

Just want to make sure you're open. Planning on a trip tomorrow am. Also, is there a limit on reloads for 9mm?

We are open and there is no limit to ammo purchases.

Are you open during the fires?

We are open during the fires if the road is open.

Are they still open? Just wondering if they survived the fires

We survived the fires. It never got closer than a mile from us. We are back open and highway 39 is as well.

    Can kids shot here?

When I was there yes it appears they can. They must have all the safety equipment on like anyone else. And I would assume of reasonable age where they can understand the range leaders commands of when to put down weapons and when allowed on the… Read more

I successfully completed the NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Level 1 course with Tola Defensive…read moreSolutions' instructor Todd Larato. It was a pretty intense experience. My fellow classmates were an ex-sniper for SWAT and a gun enthusiast who takes 3 classes per month and has groupings that would fit within a silver dollar. I was overwhelmingly "outgunned," pun intended. I have no idea why these guys are taking a basic class, but I'm always up for a challenge! The upside is during the course of the day my confidence and skills markedly improved, in my mind in any case. For context, I've never shot using a pistol holster before, and my hallmark of marksmanship thus far was a Rifle Shooting Merit Badge from the Boy Scouts of America. Hot Shot Eagle Scout, swallow your pride once you completely miss the paper target! There was a steep learning curve with a myriad of skills including holstering, multiple targets, changing magazines to time, situational awareness, moving and shooting, I could go on and on. It was a packed day and a lesson in stamina too. I had issues with mashing the trigger, supposedly common with beginners. Todd was patient throughout, despite me holding the class back (repeat: ex-SWAT sniper!) Todd's instruction was thorough, precise and firm, which produced results. You don't want a laid back surfer dude "whatevering" you through life-and-death self-defense scenarios! Todd gave me insightful pointers and homework to review as I've taken my first step of a thousand mile journey. The course made me realize how little I knew about properly handling a pistol, in addition to the majority of civilians who own pistols. The class was priced reasonably to the point that it should be affordable for most people. All new gun owners should be required to undergo this course. Proper training is crucial for your own safety and the safety of others. Lasly, make sure to bring plenty of water, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, proper boots, and electronic earmuffs. You'll need approximately 300-350 rounds of ammo, which I purchased at Walmart.

Todd was a very knowledgeabale coach and was an awesome instructor. Had an awesome basic pistol…read morecourse this past weekend. I highly recommend him.
