This is one of the better Mexican restaurants I've been to in Anchorage. Slightly confused by the low rating, but seems like most of the reviews are older so maybe things have changed. The service was amazing here. Super quick, friendly and efficient. It's not a very big restaurant so I can see it getting very crowded if it's a busy night. We were promptly seated, and given water, chips & salsa. There was a mild & hot salsa. The hot wasn't super spicy, but it had good flavor. The menu isn't super extensive, but it has all the basics. Only thing missing is tortas, which I've only found at Serrano's so far. They don't have a drink menu, but have a pretty good selection of flavored margaritas. I thought the margaritas were very good, and decently priced. The flavored ones are more expensive, but larger than the standard lime flavor. I ordered the carne asada dinner, and my husband got a carne asada burrito. It was ala carte, but he added rice & beans for an additional $3.50. Little steep in my opinion since the burrito on its own was almost $16. My carne asada dinner was $20, and I thought the was decently priced. I received a nice piece of steak, and a cheese enchilada along with the standard accompaniments. The steak was juicy, tender and extremely flavorful. My husband enjoyed his burrito and said the meat on his burrito was the exact same as my carne asada, which sometimes is not the case. Kudos to them for consistent product. The burrito was a good size as well. My favorite hot sauce was readily available on the table along with Tabasco. I should've asked if they had other options, but I was happy to see one Mexican option. I thought the food here was good, decent portion sizes, complimentary chips & salsa and the service was excellent. Prices on some items are a little expensive, but it seems to balance out depending on what you order. I think this is one of the better Mexican restaurants I've been to in Anchorage!

I've been wanting to check this Mexican place out, and glad I finally did! My main complaint is the parking lot. It's very tight so just be a little careful. It shares parking with a small strip mall with a lot of random shops. Haciendo is a very cozy and intimate restaurant. I was actually pretty caught off guard when I walked in and saw how small it was. The staff couldn't be any friendlier! When we walked in we were instantly greeted and asked if we'd prefer a table or booth. We ended up just sitting at the bar as we knew we weren't super hungry. The bar only has 6 stools which made it an even more amazing experience. The bartender took his time to get to know us and ask where we were from. He overheard me mentioning I wanted a burrito and recommend two different ones on the menu. We were instantly served with water and chips and salsa. We both ended up getting the al la carte taquitos as neither of us were super hungry. They were delicious! You can get two without beans and rice or get the combo plate of two or three that comes with beans and rice. I couldn't have felt more welcomed at this restaurant and cannot wait to come back again. What a little gem hidden on the east side of anchorage!

This place is amazing! The food and service is outstanding. The chips are okay but the salsa is amazing, the hot salsa is actually spicy enough. The tacos and everything else are always amazing. Can never go wrong with driving all this way for some great food.

Fajita taco's to die for and the best margarita's in town. It's not on the menu. But ask for the jalapeño margarita on the rocks.

I don't know why it got only 3 1/2 stars. The food was terrific. I've all around this country RV'ing and can't say I've had any better.

We thought it was regular hot sauce... so naturally, I absolutely drenched my burrito in it. Big mistake. HUGE. This is to be asked for by customers lol... and it was left out by mistake... One bite in and it felt like I got maced straight to the soul Tears pouring, coughing, face on fire--we couldn't even eat our food because it was that insanely hot. Honestly, it was next-level pain... but also kind of hilarious once we survived it Here's the part that really matters: the owner handled it like a pro. He apologized sincerely, took full responsibility, and didn't even charge us for the meals. That kind of customer service is rare and says a lot about the people who run this place. Owner is amazing and thoughtful... really great people there Accidents happen--but great businesses make it right, and they absolutely did. Awesome food, great atmosphere, cold beer , and genuinely good people. We'll definitely be back (just... maybe staying away from the 357 Magnum next time ). Thanks again for making it right and giving us a story we won't forget!

Flat tonic. Terrible. The enchiladas were OK. The coffee was the color of tar. When I opened the tiny container of half-and-half, the contents were solid and plopped into the coffee. I fished out the solid mass with my spoon and called over the waiter. No apology. I think he then brought back the same coffee, new mini moo-cows. Really terrible dining experience. To top it off, there was an empty plastic vodka bottle on the ground by the front door.

I usually wouldn't eat Mexican food in Alaska those two don't really go together in my brain being from California but I wanted to give it a try anyway lol I ordered the Cilantro Shrimp Molcajete and some chips and salsa on the side. First I will say I don't see why certain restaurants charge for chips and salsa it should be free in my opinion. The salsa lacked flavor and was more sweet than anything. (I asked for the spiciest salsa they have) and the order was $8.. I get it for the size I was surprised but that salsa wasn't good. Moving on to the main dish tho we have the Molcajete which was really good in my opinion. It came out SIZZLING! and the size of it wasn't what I was expecting. So if you're hungry I would def get one of those entrees ! The flavor of the fajita mix was good and the amount of shrimp you get was super filling. That dish was about $38 with the shrimp. The bartender was nice and asked me if I was doing okay a few times and also made sure my water was filled which was great he seemed really knowledgeable of all the good food recommendations and was pretty quick with service so employees were cool ! All in all I enjoyed my early dinner in a nice place that played good Latin music and I liked that it's walking distance from my hotel. I would eat here again one day and try some of their tacos next because I hear they are pretty good. I would say they need to just make the chips free because the are NOT worth $8 lol like at all but other then that decent place.

While the mole sauce was delicious, the chicken thighs I received were so small and bony, my rice lacked flavor and the beans were very soupy. My chips were like the little broken pieces at the bottom of the bag making it hard to scoop any decent amount of salsa into them. For almost $30/plate I was anticipating more protein, bolder flavors and better quality. I want to give them another chance, but sometimes first impressions are lasting impressions. Service was friendly but waitstaff were busy so not as attentive. Ambiance is what you'd expect from a hole in the wall.

Like they were frozen, thawed and froze again. The sauce they simmered it in wasn't good and I'm convinced helped overcook them to a rubbery consistency. I know it's not a steak house, but they cook steak for other items so I figured I'd be okay. My partner said his ranchero steak wasn't very good. For the rise in prices of things quality has gone down. They haven't done much for improvements - my seat had a big gash in it. Unfortunately after being a customer for many years I don't see myself returning here after 3 strikes this year of poor quality food at an inflated price.
