    Cheese Enchilada plate

This place is a hidden gem! It was my first time here. I ordered the Cheese Enchilada plate, and it was delicious!!! The service was great as well! More people should know about this place!

Great little spot, had a solid Friday night crowd-but we were still seated right away. The salsa was good, we needed a refill! We tried the chicken fajitas and smothered burrito, both were great. The beans are really good. Our waitress was very attentive, we saw a lot of folks being greeted as family. Seems like a spot with a solid group of regulars. Great atmosphere!

Burros is a nondescript restaurant on Hwy 79 in Round Rock. Once a pizza parlor now a Tex-Mex restaurant. Typical Tex-Mex decor, Wife and I had been looking for a new Tex-Mex restaurant. We arrived just after noon and were seated immediately I ordered a Shiner while we looked at the menu. They had great lunch specials! I ordered two beef enchiladas with rice and beans. Wife ordered a taco/enchilada combo. The food arrived quickly Both specials were delicious and were only $8.98 each. A real bargain. I was very impressed with Burros and I will be back!

Medium beef brisket wrapped burro with black beans and a side of guacamole

I got the medium beef brisket wrapped burro with black beans and a side of guacamole. It was filling and delicious as the meat was tender and not too chewy. For my drink, I had the michelada with Dos XX as my beer of choice. It was okay as it tasted fairly watered down, so I probably would recommend another drink choice unless you are a big fan of micheladas. The service was great with our server being very patient and taking her time to answer all our questions regarding the menu. The food did take some time to get out to us but we did have a party of 5 and the restaurant was fairly busy. The establishment had a lot of televisions where we were seated and overall was decorated very nicely. There are various seating options available to accommodate various party sizes, which was nice.

House combo plate was great! I chose a tamale, cheese enchilada, beef taco, & guacamole salad. Can choose 4 items from a list.

Was awesome here! Would recommend. Service was great & friendly. Chips & queso were good. Chips are out of this world.

I don't think I'm picky with Mexican food but this place was meh The food was hot, and the chips were warm. But the flavor just wasn't there. Perhaps it was an off day for the cook. The food didn't taste bad - just meh. The service was quick at the beginning but then it got busy and it took forever to get our check. Like forever. I had to ask someone else for help. The place was packed with locals I'm guessing. The physical restaurant is older and the bathroom isn't the nicest but fine. I don't think I will be back but it wasn't terrible. They did have cute burro/donkey shirts.

Pretty tasty Mexican fare. Hadn't ever been here by its close by after a long day so we tried it. I'd probably go again on a day when I was hungrier. I just had soup.

Came here with a friend for dinner and we both had a decent experience. I got some chicken and beef enchiladas and they were good but not great. Very plain and lacking some flavor, same goes for the beans. I got a house marg since it was the special and it was also just fine. Our server was very nice and we got our food pretty quickly. The restaurant itself was a pretty decent size and had a lot of seating.

This restaurant is in a standalone building with a strip center directly behind it. We decided to come here after the lunchtime rush when the place was basically empty. When seated the complimentary chips and salsa show up and they prefer that you scan their menu. They do have a large physical menu, but I was told not all the prices were correct. They do serve some very good spicy red salsa infused with cilantro and the chips are decent. They do have a full bar, great frozen margaritas and beer on tap, but nothing in the way of local craft beer. The do have a specially priced lunch menu that runs til 4pm. The interior is a little bit dated, and I wouldn't exactly call it spotless, but it does have "character". We started off with a XX and a large frozen margarita ($12.99!). I had the beef enchiladas and my friend had the shredded chicken burrito lunch special. The food was pretty good Tex-Mex, but not anything extraordinary. The only complaint I have is that neither the chips nor the hot sauce was ever replenished. As long as you don't have very high expectations of TexMex, this place will hit the spot for you. The property is distinctly divided into to major buildings...the hotel and the bar. There is a random small building up front also...not sure what that buildings for. There is also outdoor seating, which would be pleasant in the summer. Last night we had freezing temperatures, so sub-optimal for seating outside. When we entered the bar, we felt transported to another place in time. Retro looking furniture at the entry with finger dialed phones...my nieces and nephews would likely not have any idea what these little machines called telephones were. The bar was a mix of old - building built in the 1960s....new - modern mirrors and bar. There was signage at the front of the bar that stated to seat yourself and place your order from the bar (different set up...for sure). We ordered the hummus plate minus pita bread plus more cucumbers. Alan, our server was very accommodating to make that switch. We had herbal hot tea (chamomile and pomegranate berry). We listened to the 3 person band, who sang music from Johnny Cash to Bob Marley and so many different genres in between. What a lovely evening...date night score!

My friend and I sat next to a faux fireplace, where we were greeted by the only bartender working and placed our order. Once he opened the tab, it was disappointing that he never came back to check if we wanted another drink. It wasn't super busy on the Monday we went, but since he was the only one manning the bar, the bartender was always doing something, so I don't blame him fully for not checking back in with us. I ordered a drink called the Velvet Vice. It looked nothing like the picture and tasted similar to an Aviation cocktail with egg whites. I happened to really like it. It is a very relaxed space, but once the speakeasy gimmick wears off, it does not have much else going for it. It is still a cool place, but I am not sure it was worth the lengthy drive to get there. For food, the chicharrón with fried yuca and tostones was perfection. The pork was fried to a crisp golden shell without being greasy, and seasoned just right--not too salty, but enough to make every bite crave-worthy. With my girlfriend coming into town, I knew it was the perfect chance. We booked a reservation ahead of time using OpenTable, and even though we showed up late, the owners Lawrence and Rachel were immediately friendly and accommodating to us. Located at the Affordable Storage shopping center just north of Hutto, Grapes & Rye is so comfortable inside that you don't even think about it being a converted storage unit. There's plenty of seating for parties of different sizes and chairs that are welcoming and comfortable for long visits. Their menu is impressively expansive with a seasonal fall menu and a regular menu packed with specialty cocktails, classics, and all the liquor needed to make anything you can think of. We were served water immediately once we sat down, which felt very inviting and made me feel welcomed in their space. On their big TV was the Wizards playing the Cavs, and there was the pinnacle of New Jack Swing and R&B playing inside. It was already a fantastic vibe. While we were debating our drinks, Lawrence came by, asked us what we liked, and made picks for us that we trusted. For me, he suggested an Aviation made with gin and maraschino liqueur that was practically glowing when placed in front of me. After my first sip, I patted myself on the back for a drink I didn't even choose. He nailed my preferences perfectly, and on top of that, the drink was one of the most refreshing and well-balanced cocktails I have ever had. As for my girlfriend, she was suggested a Vierre Caureux that she really seemed to enjoy. Our tastes in drinks are pretty different, but we both were very satisfied with Lawrence's suggestions. This led to us asking them about their origins and learning that Grapes & Rye is a passion project of theirs built on their love of bartending and cocktails. They do such a good job that it's hard not to imagine them doing it full time. We hung out for quite a while savoring our beverages before ordering another round. I ordered their Negroni that was easily one of the best Negronis I have ever had. It's so vividly impressive that I immediately want them catering all future events I go to, and I want to see them cater my wedding in like three years time. It's that good. My girlfriend got a Pink Lychee Spritz which she kept saying to me "that's really good" over and over again, showing that it wasn't just me who was impressed by their cocktail mastery. Next time she's in town, I know we'll be back because the drinks here are truly on a different plane of existence. Grapes & Rye has surpassed cocktail hour and become a cocktail experience, making beverages that are next level. They deserve all the success in the world, and it couldn't happen to a better duo.
