I am an extremely fussy client and have been going there for years without any fault at all. My lashes are always perfect. The owner Ari is an absolute perfectionist and the most important thing to me. Is that my natural lashes stay intact and are healthy. Not only are they healthy. They have grown extensively while I have been getting lashes done by her! Then nail artist are wonderful I'm very very specific on this. I work in a very corporate job and so do plain nails, but even their designs are gorgeous. Where can I start? The experience I just went through with Burte and THEIR MANAGER was just a mightmare to deal with. I woke up with stomachache along with fever and other things I'm sure no one wants to hear and this person decided to text me that they were still going to charge for the full service ($400) for eyelashes and nails when I had already canceled out the appointment for the nails days before the appointment but they still thought it was cute to charge me for it on a day when I was trying to recover and had to cancel many other appointments I had understanding how this can damage a business. Nevertheless, this is NY even when you do get a cancellation you still don't have a cancellation because someone else will come along and take the spot, not saying it makes it ok to cancel on businesses under this pretense but it's about being considerate. I made my appointment a week in advance and if I knew a week ago when I booked my appointment that I was going to catch a stomach bug that would cause me to feel like I had been turned inside out the day of the appointment then I wouldn't have booked it. It wasn't enough for them to text me about it when I call to confront them but they also gave me someone else's credit card number that they had ALSO added to my profile and divulged the information. I also expressed not wanting to be used for the apprentice of a new technician because I am paying for a training session that should happen under your own time and definitely with your own staff until the person is ready to be on the floor, I told them to please just have someone who has experience working with nails (for which I already had Japanese gel on and they were saying that they needed to remove it and it would be $35 more even though I literally explained to them the material was new and I was only getting my nails done to change the color NOT the material) and they just straight up refused. They are very rude and money hungry because they took on a spot that requires you to have a solid background of clients. I have seen businesses come and go in less than a year in the same spot because they cannot make the money necessary to pay for their rent so I understand what position she might be in but extorting people for money when last minute emergencies happen is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Then she said to still come in to the salon and that she would give me a 20% discount on the final bill, so she's rather risk her employees health along with other clients catching something that is clearly wreaking the immune system all to make sure they are paid. Before this I had only visited once, there was no courtesy extended for a first time cancellation or even the resolution of the issue by reschuling for a day when I wasn't sick just a straight up attach because I was sick and they were loosing money and would've preferred I got their staff sick than miss the appointment. The first time I visited the place was clean, I did have to wait 15 mins after my appointment to be seated for eyelashes and the lashes only lasted like a week and even then immediately after leaving the salon a lot of the hairs started to fall out, they do not work HAIR by HAIR, they group like 4-6 of your lashes together and glue them with the fake ones they put on so the job is done fast YES but not effectively leaving you with lasting results. Very sad for them and their business because like this they will be closing soon since nobody wants to deal with being mistreated in this way. I have left screenshots of what I did manage to get via text so they cannot say that they didn't do any of the things they are accused of here. When in NY and looking for a place to have your services done for DO NOT choose this one because it is convenient because in the long run you will regret having spent your money with them. read more

I rarely write reviews but I had such a great experience here I just have to!! A friend referred me to Burte for nails, but after looking at their services I decided to do lash extensions here, specifically since they use Cashmere lashes instead of mink/silk. I have had mink lash extensions in the past and always regretted getting them/not happy with how they came out. I didn't exactly know what style I wanted when I went to Burte, but i knew what I did NOT want. After a brief conversation with my lash tech, Dana, she made her suggestions taking into account my preferences. They came out AMAZING!! I wouldn't change a thing and I am obsessed with them. The cashmere is extremely light weight & natural looking, I can't even feel them. They're definitely noticeable but barely look fake. I would post pics but I prefer to maintain my privacy , but take my word for it :) Also to note- I am of Asian ethnicity and have monolids, which I believe past lash places have had some difficulty working with. I had been seeing the same person for my lashes for three years, until recently, when she moved to Florida. I went about a week with no lashes and decided I needed them done (any others out there feel naked without lashes?). Since I used to frequent NYC, I figured I'd get my lashes done during my most recent visit -- I always found that lashes are cheaper in NYC than in the DC burbs where I'm from. So when I was in town visiting my BFF (who lives in Fidi), I casually browsed Yelp for recommendations and found Burte Lash & Nails. My natural lashes are very short and fine. And there aren't a lot of them. So when I read that Burte has the cashmere flat lashes, I was stoked! They are very light and yet with the Y or volume lashes, you can get a glam look without the weight. I called and spoke to Ari about my lash situation and she was very helpful on the phone. I decided to make the appointment and hope for the best. I was also interested in getting my nails done, as they offer the Japanese gel nails, but since I was going in with an existing SNS dip set, she said they'd assess the situation at my appointment. Getting to Burte was easy. Upon walking in, Ari greeted me with a smile. I then explain that my monolids are fickle and sometimes my right eye will have the eye crease (but never my left eye). And because of that, my right eye ends up looking much larger than my left. So I wanted her to factor that in when doing my lashes. She ended up doing the cashmere volume hybrid set on me. And they look amazing. Mostly D's on my left, and C's on my right. It's been two weeks since my appointment and they're still holding strong. I used to see my lash girl every 3 weeks, so to have this amount of lashes at the 2 week mark is pretty good. On to the nails... Luckily, Misheel said she can remove my SNS nails and do my nails! Wahoo. She started working on my nails as Ari was doing my lashes and the efficiency was nice, lol. She (& Ari) helped me pick a cute milky light pink color with a hint of sparkle, and some big stone/gem pieces. It had been years since I had any big stones on my nails and I was excited. My natural nails are on the longer side so I made sure to specify that I need extra layers for strength. Ya know... For when I'm pulling up my jeans. Misheel does add a layer of hard gel and they look great. Once I left and went about my day, I did feel like my nails were at risk of bending/breaking (especially with all the handwashing), so I call the next morning and go back in. They gladly added a couple more hard gel & top coat layers for extra strength (at no cost). Two weeks later, no breaks! Wahoo. Ari and Misheel are both super sweet. MY LASHES LOOK INCREDIBLE! This place is such a fantastic find and a hidden gem in the financial district. Ari, the last technician is not only the cutest and sweetest, but she applied my lashes to absolute perfection and gave me exactly what I wanted. I really appreciated the amount of expert care and precision she displayed throughout the whole process, with double and triple checking the lashes at the end to make sure everything was perfectly placed. Ari did a amazing job with my lashes! I was super nervous the first time around because I don't like people touching my eyes but Ari was really sweet and patient. Once I got used to it I didn't mind her touching around my eyes. I was also a newcomer to lash extensions and was originally hesitant but Ari answered my million questions very knowlegablely and got me super comfortable real quick. I've had my lashes done three times by her and don't see myself going anywhere else. She is always on time with a very friendly and personable disposition. You can tell she really cares about her clients and her work. She always makes sure I'm 100% happy with everything. My lashes look amazing! I've had my lashes done at different places in NYC for about a year, and Burte Lash is my favorite by far. Ari is very friendly, attentive, and professional. Most importantly she really hooks my lashes up!! They look natural and gorgeous and she takes her time so they last nicely and don't end up sticking together. I can't praise this place enough! Ari is amazing, sweet and patient. Also suuuuper talented. I can tell she doesn't skimp out on the quality of her supplies. This was my first time doing cashmere eyelashes and I'm never going back to mink! The cashmere lashes are light (can't feel them at all), and they stay on forever and somehow just stay clean by themselves. 3 weeks later and they're still 80% there.
