The owner also HEAVILY pressures you on tipping which you can't do on credit card- only zelle or cash - and will offer "free" add ons (massage or nails) than push you to tip 15-20% on the "free" add on. Absolutely appalling - stay FAR away from this place! I came in on valentine's day (6 days ago) to get a gel manicure ($40). Once I saw their list of services, I decided to also get a bikini wax ($65). The owner kept pressuring me to get eyelash extensions ($150), I said I didn't want them, so she then advised me she would throw in my manicure for free if I did get extensions. I reluctantly agreed. I was then seen by the lash technician, who advised me that my eyelashes were already a 12 in length, and that would be the length of the extensions as well. I got up off the bed, and stated again that I did not want lash extensions because it didn't make sense if my eyelashes were already long. The owner rushed over and asked the nail and lash tech to quickly commence work on me because they had to close in an hour. She completely ignored my requests to not do my eyelashes. 6 days later, half of the eyelash extensions have already fallen out!! The nail tech did a terrible job of the manicure - as you can see; there is black/grey staining all over my nails. This has never happened to me before - I think she missed the step where you are meant to rub the nails with finishing solution. This is today, SIX days later. As for the bikini wax - the whole point of getting a wax is to be completely clean, without any stray hairs you might miss from shaving. The owner did the waxing job herself, and completely missed parts so I had to shave anyway once I got home... absolutely ridiculous. Finally, after the 3 terrible services, I went to pay. I asked to tip 10% and the owner looked at me and calmly said "we prefer a 15-20% tip". I stated I wanted to tip 10%, she advised again that it would be a 15-20% tip. I reluctantly agreed to tip 15%, which she then advised me would be on the "regular price" of the 3 services I received. I disagreed and said it should be on the price of the lashes and wax only, as the nails were complimentary. I walked out extremely disappointed with a $260.00 bill. I started coming here because I had a Pulsd coupon; I hadn't gotten eyelash extensions before and wanted to try them. I'm so happy I did because I love this place so much. They really do a perfect job and my lashes have lasted over a month. I was surprised by how good they look. They don't appear to be super fake or ostentatious like some that you see. You have to go up an elevator to get to it, so it's more quiet and secluded from the busy streets. They're always extremely thorough and helpful throughout the appointment and they really go the extra mile. On your way out they give you tea and a cookie. The look was perfect, and I was provided with detailed aftercare instructions to ensure the lashes lasted as long as possible. All of the aestheticians are so meticulous, well-trained, and friendly. The location in SOHO is really clean and calming with lots of light. Recently, I went in for a microfeathering procedure. They had a strict Covid process in place to ensure client safety, and I appreciated their thoroughness in a difficult time for small businesses. It was clear that the owner had a lot of experience in brow techniques and had a discerning eye. She did an excellent job and even threw in a free gel manicure. I was referred to this place by one of my friends and I have now told all of my friends about it. It's the best (and safest!) place in the city to get your eyelashes done. And a beautiful location. If you've never had eyelash extensions, I can't recommend them enough. They make you look more feminine and naturally beautiful (or made up if you like to go for the more bold look), and saves so much time in the morning. I've quit wearing makeup all together. I get the Natural J Curl Cat Eye and love it. They always fit me in in my busy schedule and do an amazing manicure and pedicure at the same time. I've been to EyeLure 3 times now...each experience great! 1st time- got a lash tint, came out darker than my normal lashes, looked great but not sure it's really a substitute for not wearing mascara. Although they did look nice when just curled. Fell asleep during the service, so relaxing! 2nd time- after going to another place to get my lashed permed in Chelsea (you can prob figure out who it was), they were so curly and tight after a month that I couldn't even wear mascara and they were growing slightly dented, oy! So I went to EyeLure to have them permed again and they did such a nice job at fixing the super-curled lashes I had and they looked normal and great! I was so happy to finally be able to wear mascara again. 3rd time- about a week ago, I used a Gilt City coupon I had for $69 for lash extensions. I chose the Natural ones, 50 per eye, and they came out looking so naturally long and sexy! I almost fell asleep this time too! Must be something about those flat beds and the spa music. It was my first time getting extensions and the first couple of days was hard to get used to sleeping and showering with them. I have followed all directions with them and it's been about a week, there have been I think 5 that have fallen out. They look great a week later but I wish I got 70 instead with a little curl to them. Now I know for next time, I think I am also not used to being without mascara on the daily. I got the Adorable Lash set and they let me add a cat eye effect with no extra charge (lashes are longer at the ends). My lashes are very straight and most places add lashes that just stick out straight as well slightly covering my sight. Abigail was able to give me a beautiful curl and dramatic yet natural look. They were very professional, and my lashes (I did the "Natural" as I was a first-timer, and got a great deal on Gilt), were lovely and stayed on for over a month. They also do a little cucumber under-eye treatment while your eyes are closed for the hour, and play nice soothing music. I found it very relaxing! So I had never tried eyelash extensions before--to say the least I was nervous. I finally got up the courage to do it and bought a deal off LifeBooker. Eyelure has a surprisingly cute shop with overstuffed couches to wait on. I was immediately greeted and brought through a divider where there were five or so "beds" lined up. If you haven't gotten eyelash extensions before, know that you'll need patience. The first session took about an hour and I have zero ability to stay still or listen to direction. I'll definitely have to bring an iPod next time... They suggest letting the lashes dry for 24 hours, so I ended up showering with goggles on the next day. My roommate definitely thinks I'm a weirdo now, but it totally worked! They came out looking amazing! Completely natural looking. I get a ton of compliments on it--even from my guy friends! Each retouch lasts me about 2 weeks, and I don't see much lash loss (maybe 4 or 5 per eye drop off). Scheduling & rescheduling my next visit was super easy--they're very flexible! read more

As it was my first time having extensions done, I was a little nervous. My skin is super reactive and I had read horror stories about people getting scary infections. Eyelure was SO lovely; upon they took the time to sit down with me, and explain the process and different lash types. I was able to ask questions ("should I tint my natural lashes which are blonde?") and they walked me through my options. The process itself was seamless and relaxing. I could barely feel the technician! The lashes lasted 3 weeks, and stayed very straight (I tried another place recently and the lashes, after about a week, started to go wonky, shooting in different directions). The owner also gave me very clear, printed instructions on how to care for the lashes, which I really appreciated. I think in the future I will use Eyelure exclusively. After reading so many bad reviews about other places, I was really lucky, the place was very clean, aalomst spa like and they offered me a refreshment as soon as i arrived. I actually called a head to ask for the best directions and they were really helpful. The whole process was easy but the overall result was a little too overwhelming for me, not as natural as i expected, nothing they did wrong just my perception, i recieved the 70 lashes per eye. I've been getting eyelash extensions for almost 3 years now. I took a long break though cause I felt that it was ruining my own lashes. Recently, I bought the 50 lashes per eye "Naturalash" on Gilt City. I usually go for a really full, dramatic 13mm look but I opted for a natural look (11mm, being the longest) this time to change it up. (Also, because my technician insisted,l I shouldn't go that long.) The 50 per eye made it look really sparse though. And for $120 (I believe is the actual price?), that just seems overpriced. Maybe I've been lucky enough to get it at places that charged less with a lot more lashes. My technician, Mao (?) was nice for the most part. I knew what I wanted so all she had to do was the procedure. It's been a day since I got them, and the ends are starting to twist inward a little bit. And when I brushed the lashes with the brush they gave me, a few started to fall out. -_- The place is rather small. I think 5 beds total? read more

I just had my second appointment at Eyelure, and I can't say enough good things. The lashes look and feel very natural without weighing down my natural lashes or damaging them. The lashes lasted about three weeks even though I exercise very frequently including hot Pilates and yoga. I also got a lash tint done, which was done quickly with great results. Although I haven't tried the other services, I like that you can get your nails done or a massage while you get your lashes done. One stop shop! It's easy to schedule appointments, and I love that they have early appointments. The staff are very friendly and go above and beyond. Yesterday: A nightmare - pretty much from start to finish. My left eye is still hurting, a whole lot, and I might have to go to the doctors soon if it doesn't get better. Readers, read on. I walk in about two minutes late, I apologize. Abigail takes me to the back, tells me to lie down, and pretty much wants to start, only asking me how many lashes I want per eye. I stop her and ask about my options, and she insists that I lie down first, and only gave me a few options to choose from. She didn't tell me about how the procedure was going to go, didn't tell me to take off my contacts (apparently I was supposed to) and was very curt and kinda rude. There are two other girls besides me who were there before I started - my procedure is done before theirs. While it's being done, I'm already feeling a little bit uncomfortable, but I don't say anything because I thought once I open my eyes, I'll feel better. I open my eyes - I don't, and the lashes look awful. They're uneven, and are clearly different from my own lashes. Granted, if they had told me it would look like that, I would have asked for other options. Instead, Abigail lectures me on how that's how they're supposed to look, and how my straight lashes aren't supposed to blend in with the curly ones I chose. I forget that and tell them my eyes are uncomfortable. They feel like there's something underneath my lids and that I'm uncomfortable - that I want them taken off. Abigail almost refuses t, saying that she doesn't recommend it, regardless of how uncomfortable my eyes feel. They provided me no solutions and finally gave up and yelled at me - "OK. You want them taken off? Lie down." I called them out on being rude and unhelpful, and they responded with, "We're not rude - this never happened and we don't think it's us. It's you." Forgive me, but my eyes were itchy and scratchy when I walked through the door. So they started taking off the lashes - excruciatingly itchy and uncomfortable. My eyes were spazzing out and they kept on yelling me to relax. Hard to relax when you won't let me itch/open/tense up my eyes to relieve the itchiness. That's that. After, they said, you're probably allergic to the glue or the anti-wrinkle eyepad, but we don't know which one. Wow, thanks? They gave me cold cotton pads to put over my eyes after and advised me to take Bendryl. Thanks Dr. Abigail - I'm glad you know so much about whatever happened to me. They didn't make me pay, but asked for tip for Abigail as she did spend a ton of time on me. Well. She also blew up my eyes. I gave her a 20. Never coming back. TODAY: My left eye is freaking out. Every time I look up to the left or down to the right. There's a spot on my eye that is scratchy/hurting. I don't know what to do, and I know they can't help. Sucks to suck right? I wasn't going to write a review. Lots of places are rude and things don't work out, but this is my vision we're talking about, and I don't want this happening to any of you guys. Also, they kept on speaking Korean while I was trying to talk to them. I may not understand it completely, but I don't appreciate all the names they called me. I'm sure they value their white patrons a lot, but maybe as an Asian I'm just not worth their time. Overall, worst beauty experience ever. Bought a "natural" set from Gilt City. I was super excited because a friend of mine had hers done there and they looked great. The place: super cozy, clean, and comfortable. The staff: nice and seem on the game. Explained the process from start to finish. The experience: I was very nervous...anyone messing with your eyes can be dangerous. But... Didn't feel anything. And FINALLY the lashes.... Came out nice, was hoping they would have been a little more fuller, but I did choose the natural lash. I even paid extra for additional lashes. It been 1 week so far. Followed all the directions... Wait 24 hours before wetting my face, no rubbing, brush from the tip not the base, no oil products. I even didn't even wear eye make up the entire week. Got a lot of compliments considering I was make up free. The problem... Almost half of them fell out already. I was told that they should last 3-4 weeks. And they seem to be matting and going in all different directions. I expected a few here and there but wasn't expecting this. It's a good thing I had a gilt city coupon because I really would have been annoyed if I had payed full price. I will probably try lashes again, but try another place. The Boutique is really nicely decorated and the staff are very welcoming upon arrival. The atmosphere is pleasant and quiet. My lashes were Beautiful but only lasted 2 days before falling out! The manager said it was due to the weather...which made no sense to me....but she did honor her services and invited me back to re-do what had not been done correctly. The second time around was much better, and the lashes lasted longer so I don't know if it was the technician's fault or the use of cheap glue...? But what a waste of time to have to go back TWICE! Regardless, I won't go back 'cause I can go to other Boutiques, like Lashes on 5th, and get it done correctly, as well as have the Lashes stay on for over 2 weeks! I randomly stumbled into this place earlier this week and was so glad I did. I didn't have a lot of time (I was between doctors appointments) but they were able to give me a manicure, pedicure, massage AND do my eyebrows all at once-- truly a one stop shop and perfect for people who don't have a tom of time to spare. They also take the health and safety of their customers very seriously. My temp was taken twice (once by the doorman and then once when I got upstairs into the spa), they disinfected my phone, everyone wore masks, o saw them wiping down surfaces, they have plastic shields, lots of hand washing, etc. the owner was also very personable. Eh, just OK. The technician who worked on me (forgot her name) didn't do that great of a job compared to JJ's. The lashes started fraying and falling out faster overall and some of the lashes were sticking in different directions. I cut one or two lashes off when I got home because they were poking me in the eye. Ow. Also, this eyelash extension place is one of those places that charges you $10 extra for what should be free. You know what I'm talking about, the upselling for the "mascara" look. Like, seriously? Shouldn't my lashes look like that without having to pay the extra $10? I mean, what's the point of extensions if it doesn't look like I at least have mascara on? Eyelure might be cheaper, but you might be getting a better deal in the long run with JJ's ultimately.
