Just so bad all around. I've tried supporting them for months now since they're a local small business but I can't anymore. Their auto refill system is horrible and never works for some reason, they're always super late and im left missing days of medications, they talk to me using internal terms for their systems as if I know what they're talking about, customer service is rude and snappy like im being a nuisance because I required my medication to be filled? Their system for compounding is the worst and three times they now have not had my prescription ready and I've given them over one week to fill the prescription. I have lived in Newbury Park for over 15 years and have tried to support this local business. Always a problem with the automated refill system and you will spend 20 minutes waiting for medication you refilled using their system days before you attempt to pick up your medication. I started using Burt's for a compounded medication. They did a great job with it so I transferred two more prescriptions to them. Over the course of several months, this pharmacy failed to fill orders left on their voicemail or through their automated phone system. Sometimes they didn't mail it (as was directed by my account) or they didn't fill it at all. I would place a refill and then nothing would come in the mail. Once I filled my script using their automated phone system and followed up with a call and the person on the other line scolded me for not filling my script a week in advance. I DID FILL IT but their pharmacy didn't get it/fill it. Who wants to be scolded by their pharmacist? People using their service are often in some state of distress because they need medication! Customer service is lacking and clueless. The last time I called in a script and had a vacation code provided by my insurance so I could get two months of meds in advance. They sent me two months of two different meds, but not the three I ordered. Once again, I called and got a nice but indifferent person on the phone. I asked them to fill it ASAP, picked up my meds and promptly asked them to transfer my scripts to the Burt's in Westlake Village. This pharmacy doesn't take responsibility for its mistakes, doesn't apologize, and is completely indifferent and without compassion for the clients they serve. If you chose to use them, pull your business the first time they mess up, because you'll be kicking yourself by giving them chances time and time again. It'll do nothing but frustrate you and cause you panic when you can't get your scripts in time. read more

Overall I just love this pharmacy. I switched from CVS be a it we the staff at CVS was rude. However, today the cashier in the pharmacy was not very pleasant. He had one AirPod in his ear and he talked like a robot, meaning he didn't seem to care about any of the customers. I was recommended this pharmacy, as my daughter needed a compound medication, and was told this this pharmacy was the "best" for compounding in the area. However, my experiences here did not live up to reputation it received. The first time I got a prescription there, I wanted to pick it up at the Westlake location (it's closer to my home) and for a good while it seemed as though the two locations did not have my daughter's prescription and didn't communicate with one another. This caused my daughter's doctor to have to call in the medications multiple times over. The next time I filled a prescription there (Newbury Park location), they told me it would be ready in a couple of days. A week plus later, it wasn't ready and only became ready because I called 4-5 times to check its status. This time, when I went to go get my daughter's medicine, I arrived at the pharmacy (Newbury Park) and was shocked by how flustered and unsure of where to find things the cashier was. So, it shouldn't have surprised me that when I got home the medication was not properly made - they gave me the non-liquid version of the prescription (just the powder was given, when the pharmacy is responsible to create the liquid solution). Calling Burt's to inform them of this, they said, "Oh, they gave you just the powder?" I was floored and now very frustrated that I just spent almost an hour driving to Newbury Park and back, plus time at the pharmacy, to get medicine for my daughter, only to find that it's not the right medication. Long story short, I ended to driving to the Westlake location to get it mixed. However, I now noticed that they probably put too much water in it, as the solution is not as thick as it has been every other time. Upon this realization, I immediately transferred my daughter's prescriptions out of this pharmacy. Their lack of professionalism is not acceptable - especially when it comes to healthcare. read more

I have using Bert`s since my divorce in 2006, my ex liked the savings at CVS, I preferred the service. That`s until the past 3 to 4 years. It`s gotten considerably less attentive. This morning was so bad, I had to share. My Dr. faxed in a prescription to a higher dose for my diabetes. 12 days in advance, I received a Text from Bert`s, it was back ORDRED....when I went to pick up the 12 day old prescription, the Back Ordered has changed to, The manufacture is no longer making it.....if that`s the case, why are they still referring to it being back ordered?? If it`s stopped being made...IT NO LONGER AVAILABLE....so Tell Me That, Last week, when I had time to do something about it. Where have all the friendly, HEPLFULL people that used to work there, I might as well be going to CVS....my ex is getting the same service she was getting some 18 years ago...might even be better....Sorry to see another local business go down in flames....Bert`s can`t stay open with this drop in service. read more

Horrible communication! After being told that they had received 3 faxed prescriptions from my husband's doctor, I was told that the prescriptions would be ready in 15-20 minutes. When I got there, the pharmacist said that they had not received the faxed prescriptions, and had told me to come over to pick up a different prescription...which he actually couldn't release because it was too early. The girl I spoke to on the phone made the situation worse by not admitting to making an error. A totally frustrating experience and waste of my time! read more

Needed to get a speciality medicine made in the pharmacy lab for my dog. The pharmacy staff were very helpful on the phone guiding me on how to order the medicine and then when I picked it up extremely friendly. A bit of a distance to drive from my home, but I highly recommend this pharmacy if you do have pet family members that are on medications. The prices were way less expensive than the Veternarian's office. read more

I don't know where the people who wrote the ugly reviews went, but it couldn't have been Burt's in Newbury Park. I have been using Burt's for over eight years. The staff is friendly, competent and caring. I have never had a problem that couldn't be solved. If it costs me extra to use Burt's independent pharmacy over a major chain pharmacy, I'll pay it to maintain the friendly service at Burt's. Robby- I do not know what is happening at this location, but I have been getting compounded medications for my pets for years and have never had a problem. For these past few months, it is like pulling teeth trying to get these medications within a reasonable time. I can't call them in any sooner, as it won't let me (too soon to refill), but for this prescription that I am currently sitting at your pharmacy waiting for, I called it in over a week ago. And it still isn't ready. My pet has been without her pain medication for days. She is old and has been on this medicine for years and this is just unacceptable. I called two days ago to check on it, and the person on the phone actually lied to me and said it was called in on Saturday. My phone log/call history proves otherwise. I called the rx in on Monday September 6th at 7:10am. I understand Monday was a holiday. So even if they got it on Tuesday, that is still a week to process. During the phone call with the employee, they promised me it would be ready for me today by 4pm. It is now 4:55 and still not ready. The tech came out and even said to the cashier he hadnt started on it . So, it was called in a week ago and no one even tried to work on it until I actually came in today. Not OK!!! read more

When owner, Patrick, was running the show, rapport amongst the staff, customer service and professionalism was extremely high. All of that has changed dramatically with the eternally venomous pharmacist in charge who couldn't crack a smile with pliers on each side of her mouth. Rude and cunning, hurtful and hateful, this is no longer the Burts Neighborhood Pharmacy we once knew. Leadership commands the energy of all aboard. A job far away from customer interaction or interaction with ANYONE would open the door for someone who has those skills embedded in their soul. Like many, I imagine, my drug insurance provider is constantly trying to force me into using their mail order service, or force me into using their nationwide pharmacy partner, and I don't like it. Not one bit. That said, I'm always broke and so I couldn't just ignore them. Enter Dorothy at Burt's. She and all her cohorts have found ways, on countless occasions, to actually save me, and my wife, money. How she does her machinations, I don't know. That she does them, and does them gladly, and more importantly effectively, means a tremendous amount to me. She and Robbie (who I think owns the place) might well prefer my writing about the myriad other things they do well - get refills, discuss other drug options, are just plain nice, etc instead of my bragging on their cost management, but for me that means a tremendous amount and I'm glad to brag on them for it. read more

We've moved around a fair amount and we've used a lot of pharmacies over the years and where most of those have been perfectly competent and friendly there is something "next level" about Burt's. They really will go the extra mile for you be it giving advice or making calls to facilitate your prescriptions when the doctor's office makes a mistake or isn't terribly motivated, or when our insurance company tries to complicate things needlessly (which is an all too frequent occurrence). They are so incredibly friendly there and just above all expectations helpful. Simply, they are the best, and it's not close. Also, we've found several great gifts in their shop. This reminds me of an old school Rx...very friendly and personable. This is the only Rx near me (that's open on Saturday's) that does compound Rx! I'm giving a 4 * bc on my first Rx and then my newer dose of the compound med (both called in by my dr) I never received a call indicating the Rx was ready for pick up :( However, overall - I highly recommend this super cute, bright and clean store! read more

This is the perfect pharmacy for someone with a lot of prescriptions and/or prescriptions that are frequently changed. They fill and refill so fast, there is never a wait or any confusion. If you need them to call the doctor, they do so immediately. (Unlike the big chain pharmacy we previously used for my mom's Rxs which I swear is a threat to public health.) Once I went in early to pick up a refill but they hadn't gotten their day's shipment yet. The staff member took someone else's Rx off the shelf and re-labeled it for me, saying, "Oh, this gentleman doesn't come in until later, we can fill his from the new shipment when it gets here." This shows how they know their customers and are willing to go out of their way to make things easy. They also carry a good range of vitamins and lots of useful products for the elderly or very ill. read more

Burt's Pharmacy has been around my home town for many years. It has always been one of my favorite places in Newbury Park. I have never in 52 years of my life seen so many nice people working in one store. And I have never had such amazing service. Sadly I'm older now and have prescriptions. Lol. And this is by far the best place to go when you want people who actually care taking care of your needs. And all of Burt's employees care. They are on top of everything always.
