However, the real reason for my review is the store's policy of ordering online compared to in person shopping is absolutely absurd. I came into the store looking for baby formula as it says they have it available, and I can even pick it up in store if I wanted. However, when I get to the section it seems like other baby formula has spilled over and someone might have accidentally mistook the items as available inventory. Since it's behind a case, I have to call over an associate, which is an ordeal unto itself. I eventually get two different employees show up to come assist, but of course they don't have the item and it's falsely stating "available." I'm then advised by both employees that I should go upfront and order with the online shopping Walmart representative so they can grab the item from the back for me in the warehouse. So instead of one of the employees going back for me, they are essentially stating I need to order online and "Hope" the item is back there otherwise Walmart will refund me. After politely asking one of the employees, he did check in the back, but after several minutes stated they didn't have any. Luckily he did mark it OUT OF STOCK, but talk about a weird policy- ORDER ONLINE, but don't expect to pick up items in person. This is just another reason why I try to avoid Walmart stores.

My displeasure with this location started recently when they implemented an AI phone system for the pharmacy. While the voice them use is pleasant and helpful, I quickly learned that the system can only handle one request at a time. Humans can manage multiple questions and just deal with them one by one. Using the AI phone system thus requires multiple calls, and it's difficult to get through to a real person. I found that I needed to leave a voicemail. Once I got a call back and once I didn't. 50% batting average? Good for baseball, not great for customer service efficiency. Today's frustration was when Dear Hubby picked up a prescription for me. I don't have the numbers in front of me to verify, but as I recall this particular Rx wasn't very expensive. Today it was over $60. What?! I looked it up on GoodRx and it's 3 times what it should be. What bothers me is that their records should show what we paid previously and they could offer to check with GoodRx for a better option. That would be good customer service, instead of good ol' corporate greed. This has me so irritated that I'm considering switching all of my pharmacy business to a different provider. We've been loyal customers for a decade and a half, but this may be the last straw. Especially now, we all need all the dollars we can get just to pay other bills, like filling the car with gas, and on and on. This one is near my work and I was grabbing food in the same plaza so I chose this one. I came in the early morning so I found parking easily here. When I walked inside, they were not busy at all and only had 1 person working the cashier. That same cashier works at the photo department so I had to get in the checkout line and then tell her I was there for a picture pick up. The process was simple but I can see how it can be slow if they had many customers waiting to check out.

Rite Aid Camarillo is located in the Camarillo Village Square shopping center on Los Posas Road next to Sprouts and Planet Fitness. They have been my pharmacy for over 20 years and they have been absolutely great for all my prescriptions. The pharmacists and associates have always been very friendly and helpful, particularly with explaining how to take new medications. And whenever there's a problem with a prescription it just takes minutes to get it resolved. And it's also my go-to place to get vaccinations. Unfortunately, the store part of Rite Aid is a very different story. While there been some improvements since they emerged from Chapter 11 in September 2024 they are still frequently out of stock of many items. Basically, unless I'm at a nearby store or at Rite Aid for another reason I don't shop there. However, if I do see something I want or need in stock I will buy it since their prices are normally pretty good. Finally, I have loved Thrifty ice cream since I was a little kid. I particularly love their Chocolate Malted Krunch ice cream. And while their ice cream is normally for takeout they do have two small tables if you want to eat it there. In sum, I highly recommend Rite Aid Camarillo for their pharmacy and ice cream but suggest to only shop there for other items if you're already there or nearby.
