Family came on a Thursday before noon and parking was easy. Families were carting away pumpkins in wheelbarrows. Staff is friendly but a little hard of hearing. Funnel cake was delicious, son and husband had the bbq pork sandwich and son claimed it the best he had ever had. We came home with three pumpkins that will be worth memories for our fall visit to the mountains. read more

Burt's Farm is a very popular spot so be prepared for the crowds if you go on the weekend. I know several friends who make it a yearly tradition to Burt's Pumpkin Farm for photos in the pumpkin patch. The pumpkins are well-organized and displayed in neat section making it easy to find a spot for that ideal fall picture. If you're interested in hayrides, they offer them for $7 per person. However, be warned --the lines can get really long, really fast. By 10am, the line stretched across the entire pumpkin patch. The hayride itself was OK. Probably real fun for kids and takes about 10 people per ride. Although I stayed for around 1.5 hours, I never saw the line get any shorter. It's something to plan for if the hayride is on your list. As for activities, there's not much beyond the photo opportunities and the hayrides. They offer BBQ and funnel cakes - none of which I've tried yet. Overall, if you're just looking for a spot to take fall pictures, this is great (albeit pretty far) - but don't expect to spend more than an hour here. read more

We drove past this gem of a pumpkin farm on our way to the falls... then on the way back we stopped in for some fun. Hay rides, supersized pumpkins, bbq, boiled peanuts, Jam's and jelly's, unique pumpkins, and so much more! This was a great find... fortunately it was on the way, but now that I know this is here I might drive the, close to an hour, to get here. A big place with lots of pumpkin magic to partake in. If Linus's great pumpkin was anywhere it would show up here. Man they had the largest selection of giant pumpkins I have ever seen! As well as section after section of specialty pumpkins. Don't worry they have the good old standbys as well... hundreds if not thousands of them. We ate some BBQ that was pretty good and not too pricy, then we walked through the general store, and then we grabbed a wheelbarrow and hunted us some pumpkins! We got lost in the thrill of finding just the right ones and had a blast! The whole family really enjoyed it. The people were nice, helpful, and there are plenty of them if you need help. We even went on the hay ride! The prices are about what you'd expect... It was a lot of fun and the selection of sizes and types was OHHH MY GODDIE TOOOO HOTTIE! If you are looking for that quintessential fall activity, look no further. If you are willing to take the hour/hour and a half drive from the city, it's definitely worth it. I went the second week in October and the weather was very warm lol. Perfect for family day or a solo activity day. I went during the week and it wasn't crowded which was perfect for pumpkin picking. They have a huge free parking lot in front. Entry is free. Pumpkins, products, food and activities are available for purchase. They have a country store when you walk inside that sells items such as jam, chips, popcorn, boiled peanuts, local produce and seasonal decorations. They also have fall snacks at the snack bar: apple cider, hot chocolate, pumpkin rolls and fried sweets! Tons of photo ops and hay rides! PUMPKIN SELECTION: First off, I never knew so many different types of pumpkins existed. They had over 10 different types of pumpkins to choose from (see pics) of all sizes. I spent a couple of hours just trying to pick the a couple. A bit more overwhelming than I anticipated but still a fun fall activity. I ended up leaving with two medium sized pumpkins and a couple of small ones with a cider. This will definitely be a part of my annual fall ritual. read more

The perfect addition to a Fall trip to Amicalola Falls, just minutes away! The workers at the cash registers were the friendliest of any pumpkin farm I've been to in Georgia! Do note a $5 minimum for credit cards. The food selection was great! They have 3 types of popcorn and I got the bacon and cheddar cheese flavor ($1.50) which was super tasty! They also had both cold apple cider ($3) and hot apple cider ($4). I enjoyed both! Behind the pumpkin patch you can also order funnel cakes, deep fried pumpkin rolls, etc. The pumpkin patch was well stocked, but it looks like the tiny pumpkins (in boxes under a covered area) go quickly! Note upfront: this place was awesome at first! Up in the North Georgia Mountains off a country road is Burt's Pumpkin Farm. Parking is easy and free! When entering, there is plenty of signage letting you know where to go and what to do. You can grab a wheel barrel and go out into the vast field that is the pumpkin patch. They have many pumpkin options, from mini pumpkins to your standard orange, white pumpkins to colorful gourds and wort/speckled pumpkins. They have a retail shop with cute decor home items and food, lots of jellies and bread for sale. They had great fall items like bundles of corn, handmade scarecrows, and fall signage for your doors and walls. They have covered areas placed with hay and pumpkins for photo ops and even hayrides for a cost. In total, we spent $50.00 for 4-5 pumpkins of varying sizes. HOWEVER: After only 5-6 days, our first pumpkin started to riot to the point where it brought bugs - glad we kept them outside. And a few days later, another pumpkin. Our larger pumpkin and gourd still stood up as of December 2020 when we purchased on 10/16/2020. read more

They have a great selection of pumpkins in all different shapes, colors, and sizes for reasonable prices. It is free to enter the farm and shop. No pets are allowed. The hayride is $6 per person and is fun. This year it seemed more rushed than in the past. Also, not much changes as to the decorations on the hayride or the animated welcome with a religious theme. Driving by earlier one gorgeous early fall day, heading to nearby Amicalola Falls, Burt's Farm caught my eye primarily because it was overflowing with carloads of gourd-goers. But we made a quick stop toward the end of the day when it was less congested.  According to their website, this family farm started selling pumpkins in the early 1970s. It's not a patch experience in that you're tiptoeing among ropey vines to choose the perfect pumpkin but more skipping amongst carefully organized pre-cut pumpkins. The selection was massive! Beast pumpkins for $90 down to mini guys for $1. Orange, white, green. Stripes and solids. The bigger pumpkins had prices written directly on them with Sharpies while signs indicated pricing for the others.  We didn't have too much time to browse the market featuring foods and decorations since Burt's was closing up shop. Keep in mind that they will lock the gates promptly at 6 PM but don't fret; there's a way out via the covered bridge so you don't have to spend the night. We efficiently grabbed a pumpkin variety to take home and admire. Some are still going strong after several weeks.  Burt's closed for the season a few days ago but at the time of my visit, unfortunately and alarmingly, none of the employees and very few customers were wearing masks. Everyone was really friendly, but hey, global pandemic. read more

I went this past Sunday (the weekend of Indigenous Peoples Day) and it was super crowded! I have gone around the same time in previous years, but do not recall Burt's being as busy as it was this weekend. Burt's is pretty good overall. They have a wide assortment of different sizes and colors of pumpkins and a mix of edible and inedible selections. They do have food to purchase at the BBQ shack, which includes BBQ sandwiches and nachos, among other snacks and pastries. There is also a stand with funnel cake and slushies too. My qualm with the food is that the only meat available for the BBQ items is pork. Many people, including myself, do not eat pork for various reasons, and I feel it would be much more inclusive to include beef brisket or chicken. Although I get that in the South, barbecue is often a lot of pork, so this also is not shocking. I also noticed that the only available bathrooms were port-a-potties, and the actual restrooms were marked as "out of order". That was a bit off-putting and raised concerns about hygiene as I have seen a lot of other farms have restrooms (clean ones too!) in the area. If you are into pumpkin patches for fall activities, Burt's is decent. read more

A great pumpkin farm to visit with the family on the weekend! I stopped here with a friend after visiting Amicola Falls. I love that they don't charge to park or enter (other farms charge admission). Great spot to get some cute family photos; expect lots of people as we keep getting closer to Halloween. It wasn't crazy packed, but people are constantly walking by. We grabbed the pumpkin bread and a slice of the pumpkin roll inside the store after perusing some items for sale. Love that they have goods and snacks in addition to the pumpkins. Hay ride is now $7.50 for adults. The line was so long so we passed on it, but I would have loved to experience it! Overall a good pumpkin patch experience. read more

Lots of pumpkins. I mean LOTS of pumpkins. All shapes and sizes. You can get a pumpkin as big as your head. And you can get a pumpkin as big as all four tires on your car, combined. Maybe even bigger. But this is not a true pumpkin patch. (Allegedly it used to be a real pumpkin patch.) It's more like big-box shopping for pumpkins. Rows upon rows of pumpkins and gourds and whatnot. Don't get me wrong, it's still a nice place to visit. The people are friendly. The prices didn't seem so bad. They also have jams, baked goods, and other bric-a-brac. Lots of kitschy Halloween decor. Hay rides. Country music which will override your ability to react rationally to anything your S.O. is trying to tell you. It's a fun way to get out of the house for a quick trip up into the hills. Take your time. Wander. Do yourself a favor: get there early. We got there around 11am and the place was relatively peaceful. About 30 minutes later and the place was hoppin' with people. read more

We happened to drive by on our way to the apple orchards and decided to stop in! It did not disappoint! They have some of the prettiest pumpkins I've ever seen!! It was a weekday and it was not crowded at all! They had every size from ginormous to mini! They provide wheel barrels to help you haul your loot! It looks like I'm alone in my outrage. Here we have yet another example of a wonderful tradition lost to the Fast Foodization of All Things Once Righteous. Unbeknownst to me, cantankerous 19th century-er that I am, the quintessential American pumpkin patch has disappeared and been replaced with pumpkin pallets and pumpkin parking lots. No longer do you walk the rows of meandering harvest, searching for the perfect specimen, readily whipping out your machete to cut your chosen pumpkin off the vine. No, now you just grab one from a pre-plucked sanitized stash like you do at your neighborhood grocery store. Basically, they line up pumpkins on the ground in neat, symmetrical rows. You pick one that isn't being crawled on by children. You leave. Yeah, you drive all the way up there for that. What's next? Raspberry and blueberry picking where the little plastic tubs are placed on the ground or on shelves in a field? Shortly after suffering personal devastation at this pumpkin "patch" revelation, I was told a gross rumor that that's what has already happened with the "apple picking" in North Georgia. You just pick up a BAG OF APPLES from a counter instead of OFF THE TREES. Look what it's doing to me. It's making me USE CAPS LOCK a day before INTERNATIONAL CAPS LOCK DAY. Count me out. -- My personal objection to mock pumpkin picking aside, Burt's Farm had a lot of pumpkin varieties . . . and a lot of people. I specifically waited to go in the middle of the week so as to avoid hordes of people but we still managed to encounter them. The parking lot was nearly full at 1 pm on a Wednesday. Lots of grandparents. Lots of parents. Lots of little kids who will never know the joy of struggling with a vine. MEH. read more

Yes it's overpriced, yes the parking lot is a challenge and yes every family with snot nosed kids is here posing for pictures but come on, it's Burt's!! Hay rides, funnel cakes and anything and everything pumpkin-oh my! This was my first year coming here and apparently I'm one of the only people that hasn't been coming here for years. This place boasts rows and rows of pumpkins in all colors, shapes and sizes. They range in price from $1 up to $75-no, I'm not kidding! Idiots actually buy $75 pumpkins here! That takes keepin' up with the jones to a whole new level! Wheelbarrows are free to use and there are plenty of them and everyone shares. Trust me, you need a wheelbarrow. Convincing yourself in the parking lot that you're only buying one is foolish. You'll buy at least 5! Plenty and I mean plenty of pumpkins to choose from. I came on a Saturday at 4pm and it was perfect. There wasn't a crowd, all the screaming kids were gone or contained and there wasn't a line for the hayride. I paid the extra $5 for the hayride and I'm glad I did. It was the first Fall like day in Atlanta and you couldn't beat the mountain views and the pumpkin patches with bright yellow and red trees that we drove by. I walked out with 6 pumpkins, of different sizes, for $16. I also got sucked in to the pumpkin roll with cream cheese because I needed a little love on the drive back home to calm my road rage. This was our second year going to Burt's pumpkin farm, both visits early October. It is an interesting experience and they certainly have a wide selection of pumpkins and fall related stuff. Be warned, large crowds. And we showed up before 9 am both visits and parked right in the front when they opened. Within minutes it gets very busy. No masks but that's not an issue, we weren't wearing any. The hayride was neat, some really scary Jesus pumpkin freak show along that way that I pray never goes away, it's so bad it's good. We can't let things like that die out otherwise life is too boring. If you are looking for a large pumpkin or you are interested in a great Instagram photo then it's worth the trip. We wouldn't go out of our way driving from Atlanta to visit here if it wasn't for the Amicalola Falls park right down the street. Also the sunflower farm is neat too. That aside on its own the pumpkin farm wouldn't get nearly as much traffic. I personally enjoy the neat rows of organized pumpkins. It's not a traditional pumpkin farm in that sense. My three star rating is because the bees are absolutely terrible, and to make matters worse employees were literally spraying cans of pesticides right next to food/drink stand with a line of people and children waiting downwind. Employees were not rude from reading comments here that seems to be an issue, the group I was with were obviously from the south so maybe they just don't like tourists. read more

The pumpkins were overpriced, the food was mediocre and the site is not as big as the photos suggest. Most surprisingly, NO field or food workers were wearing masks. Not one. More than 90% of patrons in my estimate, weren't wearing masks either. I've been to better pumpkin patches. My family and I won't be going back next year. A bit overrated. read more

We come up to Burts almost every Columbus Day. The weekends are too busy in October. They've got lots of great pumpkins, food, a hay ride ($5 in 2014) and helpful staff. It's a great place to take family pictures. One tip - if you buy one of the really large pumpkins, let their guys load it into your car. I witnessed one guy try to put one in the back of his minivan, lost his grip, cussed, and watched the pumpkin crack. :( read more

Came here a few years ago and it was a fine experience. Felt very rural and what I assumed was typical GA having come from Seattle. There wasn't any country charm, which I now have come to love, but there were plenty of accents. So it was fun for a west coast transplant's first Halloween. Also, that second amendment sign had us in stitches, we found it super funny. I don't know why. Just seemed like a stereotype maybe? Not sure. A lot of their merchandise was also super tongue in cheeky and we had a lot of fun looking it over. FYI, the pumpkins in the hayride talk about being filled with the light of Jesus. So if that sort of thing is offensive to you then skip the hay ride. That said if you are down with that the ride was lovely and I highly recommend it. It was actually our favorite part. It lasts a super long time and the hay was very clean. The farm is also really cool if, like us, you have not been to many (or any!) They get three stars because honestly, I just felt unwelcome. I talked to people and was friendly but was not extended the same courtesy. They refused me service at the popcorn counter (just grab prepackaged they said, not so nicely) and we were rudely told to move over many times by staff. Asked how we should go about using/getting a wheelbarrow and we're pointed rudely and told "See the sign there that says wheelbarrow? That's where they are" Lots of pumpkins and I personally wasn't bothered by the pumpkins being brought from off site or that if you sat on them you needed to buy them. Seems fair really as I can only imagine how many people would want to sit on the big ones at take pictures. We bought four pumpkins and they lasted about as long as a pumpkin from target would. So not sure I would say the quality is better, however, they had way more selection than target or Whole Foods even. Finally, I didn't let it affect my review but I don't like their Facebook post regarding liberals being put in their place and I feel regardless of where you stand politically, that note was just mean spirited. That coupled with the service I received last time and the overall quality of their product, means I personally just see no reason to come back. read more

I've been coming here annually ever since I was a kid. I absolutely love it here. I can't buy pumpkins from a store! I have to visit the pumpkin patch. This is my perfect fall day. They have all kinds of pumpkins from orange, white, blue, and green. They have mini, small, medium, large, and jumbo! They also have gourds and corn and everything you need to celebrate the fall season. They offer hayrides as well and it wouldn't be complete without selling boiled peanuts. They only have port-a-potty's so plan accordingly. It gets insane in October so be prepared for parking. This is a must stop place while in the area!!! Such a cute little country store, we stopped in not during the pumpkin season but were still excited to visit. They have fresh peach and strawberry ice cream, fruit pies, jams, shortcakes, and pulled pork sandwiches. Highly recommend the strawberry short cakes, the shortcakes come with ice cream but ask for the peach ice cream specifically! It is to die for, I have not stopped thinking about the shortcake since I have left Burt's! Pulled pork isn't anything special but is decent if looking for lunch. read more
