This was my second time here - once a few years ago with my girlfriend, and again last night on a Saturday night with my girlfriend and two friends. Both times were great. We booked an hour ($32 per person per hour) which got us our own lane with two targets, two tomahawks and two hatchets, and "axe master" Alexis who showed us how everything worked and gave us tips on how to throw better. You can also pay extra to throw a wide assortment of gnarley, medieval looking weapons like spears and daggers and such. I spent a good chunk of time aiming for the blue dot "kill shot" and finally succeeded with just a few minutes left in the session. This got me the right to write my name in a blue sticker and spin the prize wheel and I got a Bury the Hatchet coozie to take home with me. This location is BYO (both food and alcohol - but no liquor) and they have tables where you can set up food and drinks. Kids are allowed but minimum age is 10. Overall a great place for a date night or time out with friends. We'll definitely be back sometime. read more

What a fantastic time. Leroi was our "Axe Master" and he was a ball of energy and made the experience memorable. Leroi took the time to go over the instructions, kept coming over to check on us to make sure we were doing good. He was great with going over the games to play with the ax throwing. He was there for the high-fives when we hit bull's-eye and for the only one "call shot" that was made from our group. Overall, I would give the experience a 10+. Bury the Hatchet is an axe throwing franchise that is BYOB and offers a fun unique experience. Before you go, you need to make a reservation online and fill out a waiver form. If you do not fill the waiver out online, you can do it in person. Also, please wear sneakers! If you do not wear sneakers then you cannot throw an axe. Once you arrive, you check in at the front. You have the option to upgrade to premium where you can throw other objects besides axes such as a spear or a machete. Then once you are all check in, you will be assigned a lane where an instructor will teach you how to throw an axe. Each axe throwing session is 1 hour long but you can also do a 2 hour session if you choose. During your session you can practice throwing or playing a bunch of different games. Overall, both options are so much fun! Bury the Hatchet is a great place for a date night or a friend's night out. The instructors are great and are willing to help you out in anyway that they can. It was our first time at Bury the Hatchet and we had a wonderful time! To start, they have you sign-in on easy to use tablets and wait until the rest of your group arrives. Once complete, Bri (our phenomenal Axe Master) brought us over to the cage where we would actually get to throw axes! She was super helpful with her instructions and made sure our whole group (strangers before the session) got to know each other! I have to admit, I was a bit nervous before I first threw an axe, but once I threw my first I just kept wanting to throw more! The session is actually a round robin, which gives everyone a fair to chance to move on in the tournament. Don't worry, the competition is friendly! Definitely bring your own food, drinks and cash for tip! Ask for Bri if you want your group or event to have a great time! They also have a mini refrigerators and an atm just in case. read more

This was my first experience with Bury the Hatchet, but not my first time axe throwing. And I...LOVED IT! I came here last Saturday for a double date with my fiance, my best friend, and her fiance and had an absolute blast. I love love loved that they provided different challenges we could do against each other. We played them all, but our most favorite was blackjack. Did the lure of the hatchet replace dwarf tossing in the canon of regrettable leisure activities. This was truly a great time!! I've been wanting to try this for a while so when a friend decided to do this for her birthday I was more excited than she was lol Myself and three other ladies attended on a Sunday afternoon and our axemaster was very helpful. He was funny and did his best to stress the importance of safety in a non obnoxious way. The four of us were paired with a couple on a date which was unexpected but not awful. Next time however we will bring enough people so we can have a lane to ourselves. I was lucky enough to get a kill shot!! I came in second place out of the six of us. Super encouraging and great with tips! Everyone was able to actually hit the target more than once with their help! Oh wow ! Is my awesome but lack of a better term. I went here on 8/5/18 and had the most amazing time. For many who are unaware .. the best way to explain it is like darts .. but with axe's ! The whole experience from entering had me so excited as I had purchased this trip initially through Groupon. I accidentally picked the wrong location but when I called and spoke to Ryan at the Bloomfield NJ location he was more that helpful to switch my location to Cherryhill NJ. We arrived for our scheduled time @230 .. getting there like right on time. I suggest you arrive 20 minutes prior to register which you can also do online. We were met by our hostess Sierra.. who was pleasant and full of liveliness when we approached the counter to check in during which time she explained to us something's about the experience and was amazing! She also was very informative on the next venture to Bury the hatchet. We were given our area which was number one whereas there were an additional 3 people assigned who were great along with myself and party of 3... as we waited for our instructor Axe Master Dan .. we threw back a couple of beers .. oh did I mention it BYOB and food !!! .. some will say .. hmmmm throwing axes and drinking .. it was done responsibly ! We were finally met by our instructor (Dan) who gave us the run down with the house and safety rules .. which he was also very informative as this was our first time. We then engaged in some practice throws .. which I admit I was horrible at but worked my way up to hit the target .. he took the time to work with each and everyone of us and with patience while keeping us laughing and entertained .. then it was on ! As we played and scored up ... I did come in first during the first round but got too happy during the semi finals and went for the kill shot ! And whomp whomp whomp ! lol ... we munched on warm buttered popcorn brought to us and other snacks that they provide and tossed a couple more back ! They have TV's around the lanes and some good tunes of music throughout to keep you jamming as well. This is a great place for family outings and couples to enjoy in the sport and have some good laughs. You are given wrist bands for those who are of drinking age so no one has to worry about underage drinking as they keep a close monitor which I love. They even offer refrigerators near your spot to keep your perishables cold. I would highly recommend this location if in the area as they also have other location just visit their website ! Well I walked away from this place feeling like a mountain man! It was my first time do this kinda thing and we had a group of 8 for a bachelor party. It's BYOB so that sounds dangerous but it was fun! The Staff is super friendly and are great at keeping things fun and coaching you along. The have fun music playing so you can dance and throw at the same time haha. They also have tv's around the building and in every lane, great for watching sports. Throwing an axe is something everyone should try once in their life. A friend booked 6 of us to show our skills off while celebrating his fiancée's birthday. We all seriously had a fun time. When you get inside, you do the standard "show your license, sign a waiver, get a wrist band..". There's a picnic table in front of each station. There's a cubbyhole bookcase which is the "line to not pass if you're not throwing an axe". Lots of rules, but easy to follow. We had the manager as our coach for the night. He gave us great pointers, kept score, and was having just as a good time as us. Being BYOB, we had a cooler at our table. We were told if we started to look inebriated he'd gently let us know but none of us got flagged. :) The event was about 2 hours long and even though we were the last group to leave they didn't try and shove us out the door. Just came here with my family to celebrate my dad's birthday and it was a hit! Everyone including my mom, younger sisters, boyfriend and dad loved spending the afternoon here. Had an amazing time at bury the hatchet! Be aware that they don't take drop ins yet, a reservation is required. If you don't have enough people to rent a full lane, call ahead. Often times they have a wait list and can combine your party with others. We went as a party of 4 and were combined with a group of 2. When you get there you must check in and sign a waiver before getting started. You are then assigned a coach (Keith was great!) and a lane. You get a brief safety introduction and then get started throwing. Initially you do two hand throw and then they reach trick throws, one handed and two handed with a step. We had a group of 12 having an outing here at bury the hatchet and had an absolute blast. They allowed us to bring our own beers and we also ordered a bunch of pizzas, they are only trying to give you the hatchet throwing experience so food and drink are not their thing. We got divided up into 2 groups with 2 trainers that demonstrated how to throw the axes. Turns out I'm not very good at it and they even allowed us to try and throw 2 axes at once which never turned out ok, but was still fun! After the seeding of all players we got into a bracket style tournament and had a blast. The trainers take care of everything from the pairings to scoring and all you have to do is throw some axes and have fun with your friends, it's that easy. The only downside is replacing the boards as they get chewed up pretty good but they do that too and the downtime is a good time to reload your beer! read more

Oh, Bury the Hatchet. Where do I even start with you? Brace yourself and grab some popcorn cause this review is gonna be a long one! I love the concept of axe throwing. I really do. It seems to have become the hot and new thing to do this season. I've seen it all over Instagram and Yelp so I figured I finally needed to try it out for myself. Don't get me wrong... its a great idea in theory. The actual activity of axe throwing is super fun and the fact that this place is BYO makes it that much better. But, unfortunately, Bury the Hatchet really fell short with executing this concept. Let me explain the reasons why I gave it such a mediocre rating... Bury the Hatchet seems to get very booked up. In order to go on a weekend, you must have a prior reservation. It was a bit challenging to get in touch with them. We called the day before and were told they did not have any available spots. The next day, we were contacted saying they had an opening from 9:15 to 11:15 for my group of four people. We were so excited. Not gonna lie, my expectations were set pretty high. When we got there, the place was absolutely swamped. This should have been my first red flag. The check-in process was a bit chaotic but we still were able to sign waivers in a timely fashion (thank God for the iPads which made this process move fairly quickly). We got our wristbands and were then directed to our designated spot. We were put with two other groups of four. Yes, you read that right. That means there was a total of TWELVE of us in a lane. Hmmm, what happened to that guideline of the maximum occupancy per lane being ten people? With that said, things were pretty cramped. Although we each paid for a 2 hour session, each individual probably got about a total of fifteen minutes of actual throwing time. Absolutely ridiculous considering the $40/per two hour price tag. The majority of time was spent sitting on the bench waiting for our turn to go. Our instructor was friendly and funny, cracking jokes throughout the time. But he seemed very new and thus inexperienced as a teacher. He was more about the theatrics and less about actually giving good instruction. I honestly felt like he had no idea what he was talking about. He would randomly tell me to "take a few steps forward" and then a minute later say to stand farther. At one point, another instructor came in to help me out. I felt he really knew what he was talking about. I was actually able to hit the target after his instruction! One positive aspect of this place is that it is BYOB. They also allow you to bring your own food. They also provide a fridge. I would highly suggest taking advantage of this considering you'll have PLENTY of time to eat and drink as you wait for your turn. At the end of our time, we were able to take some group pictures. The group pictures they took were posted to their Facebook page. I'll end by saying it's a great concept that needs more work. Having twelve people to a lane is simply unacceptable. Having only less than 30 minutes of actual playing time is again, unacceptable. Bury the Hatchet really needs to work on their business model because they will not sustain customers if this continues to happen. read more
