I don't ever write reviews, but was compelled to by how genuinely upset my fiancée was. Sorry for brevity, Yelp's character limit stinks. Background: we have been to dozens of rooms together across the east coast. We look forward to doing them. We've disappointed both times we've come to this location, this recent time plain miserable. Here are some ways escape games can succeed: *Atmosphere - The room and location and employees immerse you in the plot. *Engagement - A good escape game does not leave you unmotivated to continue. *Difficulty - Hardest metric to get right, but puzzles should follow a linear progression and solutions should make sense. In all of these dimensions, our room was unsuccessful. We did "The Lab." When we arrived our introduction was so subtle that we didn't even realize the clock was running. We also were never told who our gamemaster was. The room was so dark I had to use my phone's flashlight the whole time. We were completely lost for the first step, and after 15 minutes we gave up and asked for a clue. When the solution was revealed, we groaned; it was completely unrelated to anything we thought otherwise. Shortly after, the same was the case. This time, it was necessary info hidden in a dark place. By now it's 35 minutes in, two clues down, and for the first time ever we want to leave mid-way. I hurt my hand using one of the tools given (pic attached, not because of user error, and was bloody day-of), there was a box from another room in there. So much stuff labelled "DO NOT USE." It felt like we weren't supposed to be in there. Broken doors and a magnet puzzle i actually had to force open. Staff seemed, to us, uninterested and the room was more upsetting than rewarding. 2 stars and not 1 because there were a couple good puzzles and I appreciate those. Please, if you're a first-time escapee, don't come here; I would hate to have your view of such a fun enterprise ruined by this place. If you're a veteran of escape games, come here to be reminded how much a treasure a good room really is. Thank you.

Today my family, friends, & I went to Escape Room. We experienced The Illusionist Room. It was challenging and fun! Our Gamemaster was super fun and helpful! It took us 55 mins. to solve the mystery. Intense, frustrating, and exciting all at the same time. Definitely worth going.

    We escaped!

Escaped my first escape room with 10 seconds to spare! A group of four of us had a living social coupon for a visit to escape the room. It was super easy to book using the living social code and there were descriptions of each room available online. Once we arrived, we were greeted by the host who checked us in. Luckily, we came in on a Sunday afternoon so our game was just the four of us. We did the "illusionist" and our game master, Vanessa was awesome. She did a great job explaining not only the rules of the game room including how the clues work but also the backstory of our game. You get three clues, but you can earn more before you start the game by following them on instagram or on facebook. We had a total of 5 clues, which you can use after 10 minutes have passed and there are 50 minutes remaining. Vanessa was super helpful when we were inside and I have to admit it was a lot more challenging than I anticipated! Once you have either failed or escaped, you get to take a picture with all the signs which is immediately uploaded onto their facebook page. There are a lot of cool different rooms offered, and I will definitely be back to try another room! It is a great group activity!!

Our group finished with 15 minutes left on the clock so we felt good :)

We went here for my little brother's birthday as a group of 6 and was placed with an additional group of 4. It was a lot of fun working with new people and team building. Our group did the Illusionist and the tricks were clever and clues were given appropriately. The first 10 minutes are the most overwhelming but once everything gets rolling it was really fun! We are definitely coming back to do the manor soon. Shoutouts to Kate and Nicole they were amazing game masters.

Ask the Community - Amazing Escape Room Cherry Hill

Owner or others: what is the difficulty / success rate of each room? It seems as if the Manor and the Night at the Museum are the most difficult, with the lowest success rate. How about the other rooms?

The rooms have a rating by level of difficulty prior to entering. The success rates are depicted on the wall when you come in, but you could simply ask. The staff is very friendly, and helpful. (Work hard there are PLENTY of clues).

Are there a variety of activities/puzzles, or are most of them padlock-based? (&, does this differ across the different rooms?)

I've done a fair amount of rooms there now, they have good variety of puzzles and their newer rooms seem to be getting more and more intricate locking mechanism as well.… Read more

We booked an hour ($32 per person per hour) which got us our own lane with two targets, two tomahawks and two hatchets, and "axe master" Alexis who showed us how everything worked and gave us tips on how to throw better. You can also pay extra to throw a wide assortment of gnarley, medieval looking weapons like spears and daggers and such. I spent a good chunk of time aiming for the blue dot "kill shot" and finally succeeded with just a few minutes left in the session. This got me the right to write my name in a blue sticker and spin the prize wheel and I got a Bury the Hatchet coozie to take home with me. This location is BYO (both food and alcohol - but no liquor) and they have tables where you can set up food and drinks. Kids are allowed but minimum age is 10. Overall a great place for a date night or time out with friends. We'll definitely be back sometime.

I highly recommend, we will definitely go back. And Kudos to you Leroi!

I didn't know what to expect when a friend bought us 4 hours as a try something new date night. We arrived and were welcomed by a super friendly staff. The place was incredibly cool filled with all sorts of activities such as giant Connect 4 and Jenga, checkers boards, original table games, and couches everywhere. We were assigned a "lane" which is basically a large room all to ourselves with hatchets, 2 target boards to throw at (or into), couches, chairs, and a coffee table. One of the staff members came over to us and gave us lessons on how to throw which wasn't as easy as we thought. The more you practice the better you'll get though and the staff member hung around for a while and assessed our throws and offered us tips. She was there whenever we needed assistance or had questions and even taught us some fun scoring games. Its also BYOB and BYO-food so we ordered in some sushi delivery and brought our own wine and beer. The staff brought our food right to us when it arrived at the front. We all can't wait to go back as this is just a fun place to go for something different. Try it. Even if you don't think ax throwing isn't for you there's plenty to do and you just might have a lot more fun than you expect. I sure did!

The first great part is when we got out and my wife opened the trunk to reveal a packed cooler of beer! Now, I should note that while you are allowed to bring alcohol, you can't bring hard liquor and you cannot be visibly intoxicated or they will not admit you (probably a smart thing). We had to sign a waiver of course in the event we chopped a limb off (we didn't). And then we were taken back to our lanes. It was a Saturday night and most of the lanes were full, we had two towards the back. One of the employees walked everyone through how we should throw and gave a couple of pointers before everyone took their time to give it a shot. They had great music, it's a relaxed atmosphere and everyone working there was great. We had a phenomenal time and will definitely be returning!

You have an S hook Axe (heaviest out of the three), Hatchet (Typical Axe), or the Tomahawk Axe. Close to the end of the session they bring out a Firemen Axe that you can attempt to throw at the target and is easiest the hardest to maneuver. In addition to the Axe throwing, they have a fun baskettball arcade two person competition game that you all should be familiar from the days of your childhood arcade days and many other fun games such as shuffle board, Jenga, darts etc. This is perfect if you have a large party and are waiting your turn to throw as you can play a fun game while you wait. When I think of Axe throwing I am reminded of the beginning of the movie, "The Bodyguard" with Kevin Costner. There is a scene where someone is trying to recruit him to take on the bodyguard job and he is leisurely lobbing an axe at a wooden stake trying to land a shot. I can now see the allure of such a skillful and cathartic experience. As always people SYOY!!!

With that said, I made a reservation for an early Saturday night about an hour before showing up without issue. westecunkaxe.com/ Checking in at the front counter was very easy and before you know it, you're led to a bay to begin throwing. But, before you start throwing, they have several coaches who are all very nice-funny-gracious that take the time to make sure you know what you're doing so that you can get the most out of the experience. We had done axe throwing once prior at a place in Hershey and in comparison, the coaches here are more involved (in a good way) and that truly does make a difference. A few random notes: The place is small and when it's busy, things are very loud between all of the throwing. overhead music, laughing, etc. No problem hearing the lively vibe outside in the parking lot. Speaking of parking, there is a small lot that is shared with another business. When we showed up, there weren't many spaces left but we found one without issue.
