Came with a group of friends for birthday celebration. We purchased the special package (extra $10/person ) for different gadgets to throw. The instructor was very nice. We had lots of fun!

Took the dads in my life here to celebrate Father's Day (we were a group of 5). I called to booked our reservations (two of the dads are veterans and one is a firefighter); they gave us a discount for this. When we arrived, Nicole was absolutely the sweetest; thanking the for their service. Our lane wasn't ready, so we played pool until to pass the time (we arrived 20 minutes early). Jack, our coach/instructor, was extremely patient with us as we laughed and awkwardly threw the hatchets. He gave us pointers that helped improve all of our throws. Once we were comfortable with the hatches and played a game, we were able to pick other items to throw with (added on when I made the reservations). We threw ninja stars, knives, batarang, and throwing cards. Jack was again, able to coach us. After a warm up, we played another game. The winners of both games went head to head to see the ultimate winner. Once the champion was determined, he was given a trophy (also an add on). While we were there, I ordered pizza from Anthony Franco's. They delivered it with plates, napkins, cups, etc. After we were done with our games and pizza, Nicole set up balloons for us to pop with our weapon of choice. Needless to say, we will be back. We are absolutely grateful for Nicole and Jack; they went above and beyond.

First time here with a group of 8! John H. was an ax master/instructor! I highly recommend going! You also get to bring your own food and alcoholic drinks!

I had a great time here with my family. Came in a party of three. The person at the front desk was so nice and explained everything to us as it was our first time there. We walked over to our station and another team member taught us how to throw and also gave us ideas for games we could play against each other. It was a wonderful time and i would go back again for sure.

The customer service is excellent! They helped me solve a problem with my tickets. Once there, our host Jack was so helpful and accommodating, we had a great time! Highly recommend this Paramus location!

Loved the atmosphere! It was the first time we went axe throwing and the experience could not have been better! I'd say the 1 hour is perfect--you'll be a little tired for 2 hours, but still manageable! Perfect date idea if you ask me! Thank you, Cheyenne!

SEB- Sebastián was a GREAT Axe Master! Not to mention being awesome on his 1st day!!! The staff was friendly. The atmosphere is super chill and fun. There were couples, groups, birthdays etc. We came in for a friend's birthday and had a great time. Our Door Dash food order was late and they allowed us to stay a little after our time to eat. We really appreciated their kindness!! We'll be back!!

Brand new business. Just opened this week. Came for a friend's birthday and this was where he picked. This is BYOB and food. Very hipster decor. If you like chopping wood and wearing flannel this is your place. Picnic tables to hang out and watch your friends get drunk and throw axes at a wall. What a concept! You rent it by the hour and you sign waivers like the kids do at trampoline parks, on an iPad. We had food delivered with Uber eats and brought coolers of beer and girly drinks. We were taught how to throw axes "correctly" and yep. There is a correct way! You will end up sweating and getting a work out! This is a pretty large place and when we were there, there was not enough people working. Leaving people to just start throwing axes before anyone told us the "rules." The rules are basically, don't throw axes at the same time. Move away from the person throwing the axe. There was lots of girls here too and I'd say this is best for groups of friends because it's pretty entertaining watching a very girly girl throw an axe or a strong guy think he can throw an axe and suck. There was some sort of plumbing issues going on so we had to walk next door to pee which sucked but I'm sure they'll call a plumber soon. I'm sure we'll be back because the guys has a blast.

Must say, I had a great time at Bury the Hatchet. Who knew hatchet throwing could be this fun. It was my first time ever throwing hatchets and my first throw was a bullseye thanks to the brief training a worker named Pedro gave me. Don't get me wrong, your going to miss a lot and not connect properly with the wooden targets but that's part of the fun. Oh and some of the staff are hilarious because they yell out "Bullseyeeee!" after each time you hit the bullseye. They will also keep score on an app for you if you want to have competitions against each other whether it's one on one or group against group. They first teach you to throw with two hands which is definitely the easiest way to hit the target but they also teach you how to throw one handed and throwing the hatchet upside down. I had the pleasure of being taught these other two techniques by a lovely worker named Jymis :) , she was a great instructor and I learned how to improve my throwing skills thanks to her. Overall It was a great experience and the entire staff was very friendly. I will definitely be coming back here again. FYI It's also BYOB!! Definitely recommended you check this place out with a date or group of friends. Fun times here.

My husband and I went here as a 25 days of Christmas date, and LOVED it!! Our ax master was named Andre and he was absolutely amazing. He definitely helps you work on your technique to actually get good at throwing and landing on the board versus just watching and pepping you up. I have done this once before and the staff was not as good or attentive as he was! We will definitely be making this a monthly thing, and will definitely try and book when Andre is working!

Besides axe throwing, they also have darts, shuffleboard, and Jenga, so there's plenty to do. Stumpy's Hatchet House is the first indoor axe throwing venue in the US. We visited the Fairfield location on Route 46 West. It's located inside a large office complex that has plenty of parking. The entrance is in a little corner. It may look small at first, but looks are deceiving - it's a lot more spacious inside. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly staff member in the lobby/check-in area. The ambiance and decor is ON POINT! It's a very rustic atmosphere with a lumberjack theme - you'll feel like you're in a cozy cabin. Take some time to look at their wall decor and merchandise. Reservations (deposit required) are highly recommended, especially for larger groups on the weekends. They do accept walk-ins, but only if there's available room. We came on a Sunday at 5pm without any reservations and it was surprisingly empty. You can book for 1-3 hours. Smaller groups (4 and under) are booked for 1 hour, while larger groups (5 and over) are booked for 2 or 3 hours. Pricing is based on how many hours you book for and is charged per person. They also have a 20% discount for military and first responders. We paid $60 for an hour ($30 each for 2 of us) and signed our waivers. Stumpy's has 10 hatchet pits, each with two targets and plenty of room for the participants. There are tables, chairs, and comfy sofas. It's BYOB (beer + wine only) and you can even bring your own food. They have a "bar" with light snacks and soft drinks available for purchase. An axe throwing instructor gave us a tutorial on safety, how to throw the axe, and how to use the interactive game system. Unfortunately I forgot his name, but he was incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and made sure we were enjoying ourselves. He checked in on us and gave us some tips/suggestions to correct our form. You can simply hurl your axes at the target or you can choose from a variety of interactive hatchet throwing games on a touch screen system. In addition to axe throwing, they also have darts and giant games (like Jenga). It took awhile for me to get the hang of it.... but I finally activated the lumberjack in me and got around to hitting a couple of bullseyes!!! This was a fun experience overall. The atmosphere was lively, music was good, and the interactive games kept us entertained for an hour. I recommend trying axe throwing as a way to bond with people over some friendly competition or to release stress in a productive manner! Not to mention... it's also a great work out ;) Put that upper body and core to work... and hurl that axe like you mean it!
