What a nice surprise, this sushi restaurant will be one of my favorites in florida (Sarasota). Inside the restaurant is well decorated in a very japanese style, you really think that you are in japan. The service was very good, they were so helpful explaining the menu and the sake options, by the way they run very nice and not so common sake brands. Honestly I was skeptical about trying this place out because it's in a smallish plaza that has a few restaurants/establishments that look empty/ out of business HOWEVER boy was I wrong. I had the prettiest and most delicious Sakura roll which looked too good to eat but when I did it was so good and filling! My date had the Mexican roll and was delicious as well. We tried the a cold Sake but I honestly can't recall the name of it but it was pretty decent not too biter/sweet however as it started to get room temperature it wasn't as good, definitely recommend having it chilled/cold. The service was very good, friendly and fast! The restaurant isn't too big however spacious enough that you are still separated and have your own privacy in your own table. I will never set my foot in this place again and would warn anyone to be very careful before ordering raw seafood at this establishment. Came here with the boss and my daughter. We had the Fuji salad and Hawaii martini apps. They were both very good and very different. The salad had apple in it along with some crab, shrimp and kani along with fuji apple in a plum sauce - sweet and delish. The martini app was tuna, avocado on seaweed salad and dressed with a vinaigrette - acidic and tasty. We had the fried banana roll, tasty roll and rainbow roll. All the makis were prepped with a red sushi vinegar. The sushi rice was yummy. The rolls were very good too. The tasty roll is essentially an enhanced spicy tuna roll. Sushi just seems to plate well, and it did again this time, complete with flowers. Both the rolls I selected, a Philadelphia Roll that was made with Salmon, and a Mummy Roll, were delicious, the latter being huge pieces made with kani. I had my fill. Service was very good. Back home from a road trip and was craving Sushi. We have so many place to eat in Sarasota and we wanted try something different. Wow, we made a great choice. They were very COVID conscious taking your temperature upon arrival, all the staff wearing masks & gloves and having dividers between tables. We started with the pork dumping appetizer. They were fantastic. Crisp on the outside yet tender and meaty. We struggled to narrow down our choices for dinner due to their large menu (a very good and delicious dilemma). We finally decided to try a classic rainbow roll to see how their fish was and one fancy roll - the Pink Panther roll. The classic rainbow was very good with fresh and tender fish on each piece. The Pink Panther was one of their specialty rolls which was tuna, yellow tail, lobster salad wrapped in soy paper with big chunks of chopped Salomon on top all sitting and covered in a citrus vinaigrette - Wow! It was a little expensive at $20 but unique and delicious. We left stuffed and very content with just 2 rolls. Cool decor, great service and outstanding food. Great Sushi! Great service! The Curry Bao bun tasted amazing. Pleasantly spicy, chicken was tender, just enough sauce to soak up with the steamed bun. The calamari was light tender and crispy. The fast and furious roll was probably the table favorite while the out of control roll was a close second. Great flavor and texture combinations. The Bushido Genesis roll was not on the menu but our awesome server had it made for us. I wish I remembered her name. She was knowledgeable, attentive and very helpful. I don't like writing one-star reviews, but in all honesty, it is deserved. The family visited Bushido, based on positive reviews, The location is in a small strip center. Sushi is a favorite among all members and is frequently the deciding factor when selecting a dining spot. The presentation was fine. Part of enjoying sushi is the art form of the presentation and it did not disappoint. Progressing, all family members said the tuna had a strong fishy taste. It definitely was not sushi grade. When this was brought to the attention of our server she dismissed our observations and retorted stating that patrons come from afar to enjoy their sushi inferring we did not know what was good sushi. This is laughable since I have enjoyed sushi for years and from high-end restaurants in both London and LA. I know good sushi and I know low-grade ingredients. The server was quite rude and made no attempts to address our distasteful sushi. She offered no alternatives and walked away ignoring our concerns. When we received our bill there was no accommodation. She ruined an evening that was meant to celebrate a wedding anniversary. In summation. The restaurant business is challenging and stressful but repeat customers and word of mouth is their lifeline. Dismissing customer concerns is a poor choice. I see that another reviewer also wrote about their poor customer service. My recommendation is to find another establishment for sushi if you want good service because if there is an issue with your meal they will be rude and ignore your concerns. They have earned a lot of Best Of accolaades. Truth be told, I don't know why. The ginger salad dressing was near flavorless, but bland would be an apt description. The mixed tempura appetizer was okay but not worth it. The teriyaki chicken was the food given to sleeping beauty to knock her out (boring). The sauce of runny (over watered like the house plant I killed. I followed the directions but failed. I loved that plant). The porton sizes were huge but when the food is suspect how good a thing is thaf? My friend had the salmon sushi roles. She enjoyed it but didn't eat the pink rice. If you dont eat the rice with sushi, are you eating sushi or just raw fish? The restaurant is in a dingy strip mall with limited parking. Inside, they have done a great job of being covid friendly (masks, take tempatures, social distance, panels between tables, hand sanitizer) With the hundreds of place to eat in and around SRQ, if this is one of the best, SRQ has either very low standards or lousy restaurants; could be both. I have eaten at one other Sushi place in SRQ twice if I want sushi again, it will be 3 times. read more

Our first time visiting, and everything was great! We had the shrimp shumai, pork dumplings, the American dream roll, and chicken teriyaki. Everything tasted fresh and was very good. I've had chicken teriyaki countless times, but the chicken teriyaki at Bushido was light and flavorful and exceeded my expectations. I can't imagine how fresh the nigiri or sashimi is. Very good food. Have been there a number of times now and done take out several times. The fish is always fresh and well prepared. Staff has a great attitude, and the chef is very pleasant.
