    Peach Tea Cider
    Lena M.

Buskey Cider used to be a local haunt for me. I have a commissioned piece of all my favorite businesses in RVA (it's my phone background) and Buskey is on it! When I was an active member of the Scott's Addition Board Game Society, I came twice a month. Buskey has stayed a local gem in my heart for all the years I've lived in Richmond. They offer a huge variety of ciders that can fit different palettes. Their classic flavors are on the sweeter side, but they offer dry ciders too. I adore the space they have. It's huge and great for different things. Whether you're hoping for some time inside or outside, they have plenty of seating to accommodate both. You're able to try different ciders before purchasing them since most of them are on tap. If you're not in the mood to stay in their space, they offer most of the ciders to go. Buskey Cider has a variety of fun community events to attend. They have a wonderful space for it. They welcome dogs here. Parking can be a little tricky since it's Scott's Addition, but it's never that bad. They have a women and men's restroom here. I'm classic and like their RVA Cider. In the summer, when it's floating season, I try to get their Watermelon Rosemary if it's available. I also really like their soft serve cider. They cycle out flavors and create new ones. You can always expect to find RVA Cider and Buskey Dry though. I highly recommend visiting Buskey for an RVA local cidery.

This is such a fun spot! As a huge fan of ciders, Buskey has so many unique flavors with something for both the traditionalists and eclectic alike. Spent a good hour, enjoying a flight and their cider soft serve (watermelon rosemary flavor at the time which was delicious!) They also have a variety of board games to play which makes this a great place to hang out with friends, play some games, and enjoy a drink. Staff was really friendly and the whole place has a very local/fun feel to it. This is definitely a place worth checking out with friends!

I got the spiked pineapple soft serve. It was definitely unique, and thick. It was creamy but almost spicy at the sometime haha. The vibes inside are immaculate though! I love the abundance of game and space they have to hangout. Service was quick, and it's important to remember it's DRY cider.

Buskey has some amazing ciders here! I got the flights and chose a variety of different ones to try. I got the cherry, berry, and peach. They were all good, with the berry being my favorite. A fairly decent sized brewery with some board games. A good brewery to drink and have fun at! Drink: 9.0 Staff/service: 7.0 Value: 7.0 Overall: 8.0/10

Lovely place to drink different ciders. The inside and outdoor seating was comfortable and relaxing. Nice to have a permanent food truck out back!

We stopped by Buskey Cidtoday to try something new in the area. What a pleasant surprise. My wife and I tried several of their ciders ((responsibly of course, lol). We tried the Pumpkin (had to now fall is here) and saw the barrels from A Smith Bowman so had to try their bourbon barrel aged. Wife had their Pineapple Upside Down and Tart Cherry. We really liked all of them, I actually had 2 Pumpkins if your counting for me. Cool place to chill and watch the Eagles and Commanders play.

New tangerine key lime cider and the Hewe's crab apple cider (won the governors cup in 2023!!). Absolutely delicious!!

Buskey Cider has amazing cider. Richmond doesn't have that many cider places and I love the atmosphere of this one. The inside of the building is very cool. It gives off fun, chill vibes. They even have some fun board games like Jenga. I love that they have so many different events and cider to food pairings. My friend and I wanted some good cider and to just hangout today. We were there for literally 5 hours. They have two different places to get cider, when you walk in the door we went to that bar. We ordered our flights and opened a tab and the bar kept our cards. We did the girlscout cookies to cider pairing flight. We loved trying them together. We didn't feel like they made the cider taste different but it didn't make it taste bad either. it was a really awesome concept. My friend I was with even said they she's gone a few weeks ago and they did a slider and cider paring. I saw they do trivia on Wednesdays and in a week or two they have a comedy night! It was very busy today but it was a really nice day!

Boozy soft served cider! Dragon fruit acai flavor
    Mary R.

Kid friendly! Chalk wall available for distracting the kids lol. Street parking and hand sanitizer available. Mask only if you're not vaccinated. Came here for the soft served dragonfruit acai cider. You can order in a cup or cone. Of course I had to order a cone! You might want to second think about ordering this if you have kids. I had to fend myself off lol. It was refreshingly delicious on a hot day like today. Stickers are free and the staff was awesome!

Flight -- jalapeño lime, cranberry basil, blackberry juniper
    Nikki J.

First time visiting post COVID. Inside is spaced out so the seating isn't close together. They also have a very small outdoor patio. I was disappointed in the jalapeño lime. It was not spicy at all. And it had more of a green pepper/veggie taste than anything. The cranberry basil was pleasant. My favorite of the three. Both flavors subtle but refreshing. The blackberry juniper was good. Semi sweet, not as dry as the other flavors.

You enter through the gate and head inside to get your wine. The couple running this winery were very nice and helped me pick our four wines to try. I don't like oaky whites or tanniny reds, but was able to find four whites to try: 2024 Sunrise on the James, which was semi-sweet and tart from the blood orange; 2024 Island Time, semi-sweet with a tart pineapple flavor; 2021 Vidal Blanc, which I thought had a funny smell and taste; 2023 River Breeze, which was citrusy but also kind of watery. I sat outside and listened to a talented guitar on the covered patio. The service was top notch, and the owners were really friendly, but I personally didn't like any of the wines I tried.

The grapes are a bit younger (oldest vines about five years) so the flavors are sharp and punchy. There drinkable now but also will age well. They have quite a variety on the tasting menu - from port style, whites and reds. We wanted to sit outside, but if you want to do self-service, you have to sit beyond the patio. I really enjoyed their bubbly rose. We also go the truffle fries and charcuterie board to share. We enjoyed munching on those. They have women and mens restrooms indoors. There is a lot of free parking out front. There are indoor seats available, but I believe inside and the patio are only for full service. Each visit we brought out of town visiting guess for lunch and flight tasting. Let first talk about the meals. This time I decided on a burger and chips. It was a nice size meal and perfectly cooked. The wifey had the Turkey Bacon Ranch Panini with chips. She liked it and it also was a very filling meal. My guest has the Southwest Cobb Salad and she really liked it and the portion was huge. She ended up taking about 1/2 home for a late dinner. The Truffle Fries appetizer was outstanding and also a very large portion. The both ladies did have wine flights and both found a wine that they really enjoyed. As for service: our young lady was very nice and took decent care of us. She checked on us a couple times during our nearly 2 hour stay. As for the location: We love it. The view on a sunny day of the water/grounds from the patio deck is wonderful. Although on both times of my visits we have eaten outside but the inside is really nice and cool inside on hot day like today was. One last thing - reservations. We made a request for the outside patio and we got exactly what we wanted. We are also glad we made reservations because we would not have been outside without them today. The inside although a nice crowd - wasn't full. There were tables. But with all this said I highly suggest reservations. So go and enjoy your visit at USV.

There was parking available, but if you come late, you may have difficulty finding a spot. We entered the building and proceeded to the counter to check out what they offered. The staff were pleasant and patient in explaining the various wines and other beverages they offered. The ambiance was chill, as we had visited on a Saturday which also included a food truck onsite and live music. We settled on the nine-sample tasting which was only $20, a great deal in our opinion. It consisted of 3 whites, 1 rose, 4 reds, and one tasting at the end that we could choose the flavor: raspberry or peach; some chose raspberry some peach. There was plenty of seating inside and outside. There was an outdoor covering, in the event of inclement weather, which also housed a fire hearth, good for a fire roaring chilly night of wine tasting. There were also outside open seating with tables. We also noted that folks were bringing their own chairs, which was a good move given that the crowd grew the longer we were there. Our tasting was nice: we were given a metal tray that held our tastings with a paper under that identified each wine and also given a paper with a description of the notes of each wine. It was mix of dry and sweet red and white blends, which was good. We all had a favorite with one clear winner: the last peach wine of the tasting! You could also purchase wine by the glass, bottle, or to go, in addition to wine slushes. They also had snacks such as cheese, crackers, dried meats, perfect for making your own charcuterie board to nibble on with your wine. There were also folks who brought their own snacks. The food truck on site was Cousin's Main Lobster specializing in all things lobster. They had the traditional lobster roll, lobster grilled cheese, lobster quesadilla , lobster tacos, lobster bisque, etc. We ordered the traditional lobster roll with mayo (they also had one with garlic butter and one with Parmesan), lobster quesadilla, lobster tacos, and shrimp tacos. The food was ok, nothing stood out overall. The seafood was fresh and did lack seasoning, but overall, good. The winery also had local artisan items for sale such as jewelry, t-shirts, wine glasses, throw pillows, etc. We also saw that this was a family and dog-friendly winery as there were plenty of both there. The winery overlooked a lake, which was picture perfect. There was a duo playing music under an outside pavilion stage. All in all, a great afternoon sipping wine with friends and family.

What we were most looking forward to was the wine flights. When we arrived, the person at the entrance was super friendly and asked what we were looking for since there was an event happening that day. He pointed us in the direction of where to order drinks and mentioned that someone would walk us through the wines as we selected them. Each flight includes four different wines, but once we got up to order, we quickly realized we weren't going to get the full tasting experience. Since it was a Friday, flights were served in plastic containers instead of glass. When we asked why, the man helping us said, "Are you kidding me? There's 300 people out there." I assume this meant they didn't have enough glassware for the crowd or couldn't keep up with washing them. They do give you a single glass you can pour your samples into, if you prefer drinking from glass. We were handed a list of wines to choose from, but unless we asked specific questions, we weren't offered any information or recommendations. I don't know much about wine, but I do know I like sweet ones so I chose the four that were marked as sweet. Seating is first come, first served, and there was live music playing, which was a nice touch. That said, we weren't sure where the "300 people" were, as it didn't feel particularly crowded. One downside was the flies that were really annoying, which made it hard to relax and enjoy our drinks. We ended up leaving shortly after finishing our wines. There were a lot of dogs around maybe part of the event, though we weren't sure. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but it didn't live up to the hype or the pictures we'd seen. If you're looking for a more traditional wine tasting with glass flights and staff guidance, I'd recommend going on a different day or calling ahead to find out what to expect.

First and foremost, a HUGE shoutout to the incredible people who made our experience so memorable- Vicki, Mike, Barry, Floyd, and everyone else we interacted with were so welcoming, friendly, and genuinely enjoyable to talk to. And Cade and Miles behind the bar absolutely knocked it out of the park. They provided some of the best hospitality we could have asked for while also making some seriously delicious drinks to complement the experience. We were even lucky enough to get a tour and hear more about the history of the facility, the people behind Virago, and the mission that drives what they do. We were completely blown away. It was one of those experiences that makes you realize there is so much more behind a great product than what you see on the shelf.
