Even on a busy evening, we called and were able to secure seating. From the moment we walked in, we were blown away by every single course. We started with their delicious, fresh bread and crisp salad, pairing our meal with an incredible bottle of Malbec. For the main course, I ordered the Pecan Crusted Halibut, which was absolutely spectacular, and my husband had the Lamb Chops, cooked to absolute perfection. The Parmesan potatoes were also delicious. The service was amazing from start to finish--we were welcomed with warm smiles, and our waiters were attentive and wonderful. To top off an already perfect night, we had the pleasure of meeting Chef Sergio, who took the time to come out to our table. The Gold Fish has proven this long-held collective pessimism wrong. Originally a cocktail bar only, it has now expanded into a cocktail, beer and wine outdoor/indoor bar, which makes complete sense given the city's demographic demands. It was actually one of the first businesses I was most concerned with us losing permanently during the pandemic. And I am so glad they have stuck around! It is a modern cocktail bar at its core, which makes it very unique to this city. This is an obvious adoption of cocktail bar trends from other larger cities in Texas. It is very nice, with a wide array of adult beverage options for discriminating consumers to chose from. The atmosphere is perfect, and the bartenders and staff are top-notch and super nice (the attitude is refreshing compared to what one may be used to recieving from such establishments in larger cities). I usually only come here when I have company from out-of-town, as I do not go out for drinks very often. At my most recent visit, I had just experienced a personal tragedy that I only briefly alluded to our bartender when she asked how our day was going. The amount of sincere compassion we received was not expected at all. My only regret is that I did not get her name, or else I would have gladly included it in this review.
