We Googled this place and the prices were amazing for four hour rental. We checked in and a guy named Tony was very helpful and funny and tries to get you out there as soon as possible. Once we paid we were asked to go with a gentlemen named Donald who was straight forward and an intimidating demeanor but I can respect since we renting a $20k boat and he would need to be. Very thorough with the rules and regulations and possible fines. Did a walk around looking for any major damage. He pulled the boat out for us and we went on our way. The four hours we rented, the nine of us couldn't have asked for a better idea! Our four hours was up and we returned the boat and Donald was waiting for us at the dock/gas pump. We went back in to see Tony at the counter as Donald filled up and did the check for damage. This is were this company left a bad taste in my mouth. Donald came back in and accused us of wrapping the rope around the prop. I have wrapped a robe around a prop and its not something that is easy to fix. So with that said, I said we did not do that and he insisted and told us the prop had marks and scratches from the rope. Then I was really baffled since I can't see how a rope can damage a steel/alumn. prop. He said the robe was torn up too. If I did something wrong or ruined the property I would have zero problems man'ing up and paying for it. But at the end of the day, the tip of the rope was fringed - your just looking to screw over some one from out of town. If you rent from some one, make sure you look at the scratches on, in and around the boat along with the ropes and take pictures if you need too, not a bad idea. Week day prices, can't beat them. The boats were in great shape and had zero problems with the performance Tony at the front desk was very helpful. Donald was very thorough, but I don't like the ball busting for a rope. He should know if a rope is wrapped around a prop, an amateur can't get a rope out of a prop - he should know that! I would go back, but I would take pictures of the entire boat first and any possible scratches or issues before I left.

Thinking I'd want more than a 2 hour outing on the river north of Lake Wylie and glad I didn't book More than the minimum allotted time we had a great time and quite a workout. Since moving to the area I was hard pressed to find a kayak rental place and it's perfect for both the avid and casual kayaker, the friendly staff was helpful as well and it was plus they adjusted our time accordingly prior to time/ticket purchase. We are new to the area and actually in the market to buy a boat. I thought what a perfect way to check out the waterway and give my dad a great day. Unfortunately upon checking in at the marina for my online booking, I was told our boat had no gas (fuel is included with rental fyi), something this marina does not have available for its patrons. I would think there are daily protocols to ensure all boats are ready for the next day of rentals. But alas, we were left without a pontoon. I was told by the lady that someone would be reaching out to correct and make it right, but it's been a week and nothing. I think they also could've brought another boat down from their other marina or gas to at least get us to a marina to fill up properly. (Literally a gas station a mile away) They told me maybe two hours to get some gas, but our day was already scheduled out due to flights and such. I don't appreciate poor service, especially when this could've been avoided entirely. I did receive a full refund, but that doesn't cover my dad's disappointment. And while I prefer to support locally, I think I need to explore other marinas.

Unprofessional....... I have been an avid boater for years, in and out of marinas and Terrys…read more.. well it's very SPECIAL - when it comes to storing your boat and customer relationship. The first impression I got when I was inquiring with Terry's about storage was they had about 60 slips open.. that set off some warning bells in my mind. Why are so many slips open? Well after digging, I see why, you are spending avg $2,500 a year to dry dock your boat, and it's not available year round.....it's closed Nov-March (we have warm winters you know, you can take a boat out, last Dec 2016 was 68 degrees out) .. (They said it's an $45 fee to get it down during those months) UNACCEPTABLE, for price I am paying.. also there is a $5 fee to get it down each time.... no other marina in charlotte does this. Tracking - No tracking system, every single dry dock marina they put a number on your boat so they can track it. Not at Terry's, I asked about this, they said, well the fork lift driver knows all the boats and your name, he's been doing it 40 years, so just call with your name and color of boat and he will get it down. I said what if he is sick... they were speechless. Terry's - Invest in a computer and inventory stickers that match the racks your boats go in. I call you with last-name and boat # Clutter... Oh...... the clutter. The dry storage building was horribly unclean, with old oil cans, rags, debris. Even when driving up to Terry's there is debris everywhere, rusted old docks, metal, old foam and just not good. Signage old, paint old, buildings not maintained. When answering phones, not professional menu or answered each time with just "hello" (I have to ask is this Terry's?) How about simply answer the phone "Terrys Marina, how can I help you"... Or a menu system, with information and dial caller... this would be 100x more professional. While I know they are trying, this is far from a place you want to park a new $50k boat. May be a jon boat. But... Feedback to make this place SHIP SHAPE: 1) CLUTTER - clean our the clutter 2) rebrand, repaint, hire professional staff 3) make your boat available year round, stop charging extra fees like $5 forklift fees 4) open a marine store 5) an fix up their docks (the fork lift dock is incredible, never seen anything like it.. wobbles and is a mess). 6) Get a phone system with directory 7) Offer fuel I would advise the staff there to PLEASE go visit your competitors... visit Marine Max across the street or Morning Star Marinas, now that's a marina. Unfortunately not impressed, will not get my business. 1 star.

There are a few platform bench areas and some other benches scattered near the water, not to mention the dock itself. # 3 - In the summertime, if you are a teenager, this seems to be the place to be. The docks are normally infested with groups of teens swimming, tanning and imbibing in underage activities. But no hate and no shade. ** Honorable mention goes to fishing. My husband will come here every few weeks to get the line wet. He has yet to catch anything memorable but the ambience makes it worthwhile. There is also a very sparse play structure, some picnic tables and a restroom. We've renamed it the "murder bathroom" because it's dank and nasty. It's worth mentioning a Tega Cay sticker is required to park here.
