Just writing an update to continue raving about this neighborhood cafe I still love oh-so much. I've met friends here for hot cocoas in the colder months, sat outside with my mom over an iced coffee and sweet treat in the warmer months, and even brought my laptop and stayed for a bit to work during the week. I am working my way through their healing elixir menu and my newest favorite, especially when I am under the weather in any way, is the Tee Tee's Tonic. It has lemon, local honey, apple cider vinegar, and ginger and it is GOOD. I am sure it's the ginger, but I love that bite it has. Like all of their healing elixirs, they have a little list of all the things that it works to help and Tee Tee's Tonic has immune support, is a tummy tamer, and is anti-infamitory. The staff here is always so friendly. The food is delicious despite being healthy ingredients and some of it gluten-free. Whoever created these meals and dishes is a genius and apparently a lot of thought and testing probably went into these menu items. Came here for lunch with a friend once and she loved her burger. Great place to grab a breakfast that is delectable yet healthy as well as a lunch. That's delicious. Uber eats order so I don't know about bathrooms or parking. Very small portions. I got the kale chickpea salad and it was a tiny container. The dressing is highly acidic and I am someone who loves lemons and limes so much I would eat them on their own. The kale was more butter than normal because on their website it says they massage it with oil and lemon which is what helps cut the strong bitterness. It was fine it just was not what I was expecting. The gluten free carrot cake was in fact delicious. They are the reason for the stars. Very tasty a little on the dry side but not bad. I had the Samoa bar too. This is also very tiny. And the bottom crumbled out before it got me so it was mainly just the top chocolate piece. I also had the golden milk/turmeric latte. I loveee turmeric lattes. This one has lots of ginger and unfortunately was not hot when it got to me. Otherwise it was very good, close to how I make it at home. So it's nice that it's all gluten free, that is relaxing. But perhaps I just didn't order the right thing. The carrot cake and the turmeric latte were the best. The salad and the samoa bar had potential but weren't great. I'm sure they have other great things on their menu. But that's all I've tried. read more

I'm giving two stars because the family liked the two sandwiches. They were VERY SMALL for the price. I spent $78 plus a tip for the driver. As you can see. I was really looking forward to bragging about the new vegan spot I found. Family members have dietary restrictions and we are foodies. I saw the shakes on the menu and I was all in. I even paid the extra $2.50 for speedy delivery. The delivery was not speedy. It took over 40 min but if the portions were generous and the order correct I would have overlooked it. Not the restaurant's fault. What was the restaurant's fault was the incomplete order and the disinterest in correcting the order. When I realized the shake was missing, the shake was the reason I wanted to order from Busy Bee in the first place, when I realized it was missing I called Uber Eats. They told me to contact the store. The manager asked me "what do you want me to do?" I was shocked. She proceeded to tell me to contact Uber. Did uber forget to pack my shake, I asked? "No, sorry about that but there's nothing I can do." I contacted Uber again and well you know what they told me. They said I needed to contact Busy Bee. I'm easy. I give everyone a break. But this will be the last $78.00 Busy Bee will see from my coin purse. They knew they messed up the order but if I didntvcall back they weren't going to say anything. $78? So here it is: The food is overpriced. Subia is pricey but they are kind and caring and the portions are generous. Have you triedtheir breakfast sandwich? ... VF is generous like Subia with their portions and somehow the food arrived hot. If this gets resolved to my satisfaction I'll let you know. Until then, get your coffee from Griot Cafe in the Heights or the Grind on Communipaw. Nurish is also clean eating on Communipaw and not as pricey. read more

The atmosphere is so amazing. I was really excited To discover a healthy food establishment when I moved here a year ago. I truly tried so hard to make myself understand the direction of menue and love it... but I just decided that they aren't trying as has as I was to make improvements.. Its sooo hard to write this review because I love the idea of it and that it's women who run it but I cant keep justifying the cost. So here is the truth: The desserts are and healthy! So absolutely delicious... The actual food is ‍‍‍ yeah idk who is behind the actual recipes here... they mix vegan and non vegan cheese in a salad or it just taste awful. Tea/drink menu is just grocery store plant based milk with a tea.. nothing is curated or special that makes you come back like a "Matchaful" or similar. I recently decided to check it out after drooling over an Instagram post for their hot chocolate. So glad I stopped by because it's a cute quaint shop with some quality healthy foods. I got the hot chocolate which was just what I needed. It's hard to find a good quality hot chocolate and let me tell you this one took the cake. I had a vegan one and it was rich in chocolate but not too overbearing. It had a ginger cookie rim and a roasted marshmallow. Perfect for a cold day. I also grabbed some treats. I got a chocolate chip cookie and a banana buffin all made with almond flour and other healthy goodness. Lovely place and great addition to the area! Great offering of clean and healthy eating options, including vegetarian, vegan, GF and just generally good salads. We came here for a quick bite and had their falafel and vegan mac n cheese, along with their vegan hot cocoa. The falafel were good, nothing spectacular. The vegan mac n cheese and hot cocoa were so so. Mac n cheese was flavorless, I have definitely had better at other vegan places. The hot cocoa was watery and again, lackluster in flavor. I love these guys!!!! I have celiac and this place is dedicated gluten free and the stuff is tasty. Note that oat flour is used in most of their stuff so if you're a celiac that reacts to oats, this won't be for you. The oats are certified though. Also they are super sweet people. I can't tell you how amazing it is for me to be able to order a coffee and pastry for breakfast like a normal person. You may think I'm exaggerating but this is life changing as far as quality of life for me. I called them today to let them know they're doing "god's work" which is really what I think. Things that are good on their menu that I've had: chai, latte, lavendar latte (hving one right now and yes they are very lavendary), bagel (which is toasted!), banana bread, buffins, chickpea truffles. I'm hesitant to write this review, because I truly am excited when anything new and interesting comes to the Heights. I think the fare offered here is a much needed addition to the area. My husband and I tried the quinoa carrot cake, sunflower squares, and several "buffins." Having recently become gluten free due to health issues, I've been craving baked goods like crazy, so needless to say I was excited to try Busy Bee. Unfortunately, it failed to impress. We couldn't put our finger on what the consistency of the muffins was like, and though this sounds harsh, it made me think of that kinetic sand. Same goes for the sunflower squares. That's the only way I can describe it. The quinoa carrot cake was inedible. Just not a good combo of ingredients at all. Consistency is really difficult to master in gluten free baking, but it's also what matters most. Perhaps if you have been vegan/gluten free for awhile, you may enjoy their offerings (I was a vegetarian for ten years and swore tofu dogs tasted just like the real thing...) That being said, I've eaten a lot of gluten free pastries from various places all over NY, so I know what good gluten free baking can be. Sadly, this just was not it. I'm still giving three stars because I have not had any of their entrees, and because I really do appreciate their presence in our neighborhood. I recently visited for the first time and was really impressed with the decor, cutest business by far in the area. I grabbed food that was already pre-made in their fridge. I had their green juice, their hummus with falafel and of course their famous buffins. The green juice taste amazing, it was yummy with rich flavors but I didn't think it was worth $10 for it. And their hummus with the falafel was super salty did not enjoy that at all.The only thing I did enjoy was their buffins, can never go wrong with that. Not usually a fan of vegan food or vegitarian food, and organic is okay by me as long as it's not too much more expensive then nonorganic. But I like to patronize all new businesses in my neighborhood so I stopped in and bought a pint of frozen vegetable soup to bring in to work for lunch one day. The soup was really tasty, especially the broth and the vegetables in it were really fresh. The soup was 7 or 8 dollars for the pint and would have been enough for lunch for me had it also had some carbs like little pasta pieces. This was my second time going into Busy Bee Organics. My son loves the chocolate cookie dough balls so I decided I would try a smoothie and bagels. I got the mango crunch smoothie with coconut milk which definitely lives by its name it's super crunchy, it was a little hard to actually drink and wasn't the best smoothie I've had before especially for a $10 smoothie. I also got two everything bagels, lightly toasted one with butter and one with Creamcheese. My entire order was close to $30. I decided to sit out on their outside patio with my son to eat our bagels. I was honestly disappointed the butter wasn't melted, the bread didn't even feel as if it was toasted, granted I asked for it to be lightly toasted so I took a bite. The bread was hard as if it was just defrosted. The young lady that assisted me happened to be fixing something right outside so I asked her if the bagel was toasted and she said "yes" with a smile and I told her "oh, because it's very hard" to which she replied "Oh, really?" Then walked inside and never came back out. I'm pretty sure the owner or manager was there as well but didn't say anything either. I'm sad because we live so close to the bakery and I was excited to have found a place I could walk to with my son but I'll be checking out other bakeries in the area especially after spending a good amount of $ on bagels and a smoothie. read more

The food here is unbelievable. It's so hard to find anti-inflammatory prepared meals that don't break the bank, *really* fill you up, and actually taste good. Everything I've tried is as pretty as it is delicious. I love their stuffed sweet potato, lemon bars, and mac and cheese--a real smash hit at my house! I still cannot believe it was all gluten-free! I bought the carrot cake for my partner, and he never guessed that the cream cheese frosting was vegan! They also have a nice selection of Wild Kombuchas (more flavors than Dark Pines). Location-wise, it's in a busy section off Marin that isn't too fun to walk through. I wish they were a little closer to Hamilton Park--but then they'd probably be overwhelmed with customers! Hoping Busy Bee will expand their hours (currently closes at 3, closed Monday and Tuesday) or pops up at the Grove Street Farmers Market. I am gluten and lactose intolerant so it's great that I have so much to choose from when I visit here. I had a bagel sandwich and a latte that was really good! So definitely go there for breakfast.
