Make sure you don't ask any questions or you'll be subjected to eye rolls and rude responses. Food: 2 stars Service: 1 star Ambiance: 2 stars Value: 2 stars - "Sparkling or still water?" Don't fall for the pricey still water upcharge; they'll try to quickly open a bottle at your table rather than offering you tap. - For service to improve they need to do two things: train their personnel and not have the servers do everything: bus tables, clean tables, set tables, seat patrons, take orders. They just can't manage all of it efficiently. - Server apparently forgot to put our food order in. 20 minutes after coffees were brought I asked about it and got a deer-in-the-headlights look. She finally brought it 10 minutes later with no apology; apology only came when I asked for the check and she brought out the charge machine where I had to add the tip - The baked goods are generally good, but not the best, nor the freshest, in town. - Recommendation: don't come here to sit and dine. Come here when you want a coffee to go. The matcha is pretty good; one of the only places around you can get it unsweetened. read more

Love Maman, but have a soft spot for this location. The coffee is always amazingly made courtesy of Gless and Gabe (thanks for holding the mornings down with perfect cappuccinos) and Sandy's quick to help with a smile and snack recommendations. Recent snack faves include the cherry croissant cube and the MS triple citrus Bundt cake, but you really can't go wrong with any of the pastries. read more

Tipping on takeout gets you entire entrees missing from your order here. Food was okay, surprisingly the eggs ratatouille was solid, but the steak sandwich (originally left out of my order, until I called and walked back for it), was pretty mid, way too much acid and very mid steak. read more

I had no idea there was a maman here! I came in for breakfast on the way to the train and there was a line of about 10 people in front of me, so pretty busy. It's a nice big airy space with plenty of tables and a bathroom in the back. Only two people were working and It seemed like they could have used another set of hands. The quiche was delicious and pretty big. I liked how they heated it up and it got caramelized on the top. It did take 20 minutes though. They have so many pastry's! I been to maman in the city before and the location I went to was smaller and barely had 10% of what this location has. Everything was so fresh. The everything croissant melted in my mouth. It was crispy and flakey and then soft and very rich and buttery. The pistachio chocolate croissant was also just so light and easy to eat, taking one bite it all just melted in my mouth. I will say that the pistachio wasn't as strong as I would have liked it. Next time I want to try the pumpkin croissant thing which looked liked a tower of croissant with merengue on top. I got the matcha pumpkin latter iced and it tasted watered down and too sweet. But I did like the touch of pumpkin to it, I never thought matcha and pumpkin would go together. I wish also that they had the iced drinks in the mason jar like they have pictures of on the menu. Other than some small details this place is excellent for a satisfying breakfast. read more

I really like this place, I've been here a couple of times already and so far they have not disappoint me. Their coffee is really good and so is their olive cake. Not sure what the hype is. The line was long both times I went. The first time I went it was towards the end of the day and I saw fruit flies all over the goods so I walked out. Went back the next morning and saw a lot of stuff was still there from the night before. The items with nuts are right against the items without. I ordered two things. The croissant was like $4 and it was awful. The Kougin was very good though. Not worth the hype. read more

I had such a great experience at Maman Café! Gless and Gabe were both so friendly and helpful!! they made the whole visit feel really welcoming. I ordered the Maman's Almond Croissant Latte along with the almond chocolate croissant, and both were amazing. The latte had such a unique, cozy flavor, and the croissant was perfectly flaky and rich without being too heavy. Definitely a spot I'd come back to! great service and even better treats! read more

Conveniently located near the PATH station and light rails. They have tons of different sweet and savory pastries and coffee available. If you order to stay, they will bring your food and drink to the table which is a nice touch. This location has tons of seating and the music isn't too loud so I like coming here to chit-chat with friends. read more

I've been wanting to try this place out for a while. The restaurant is beautiful on the inside and the place is laden with flowers and French decor. We sat right away on a Sunday morning. I ordered the smashed avocado tartine. The food was good. The bread was fluffy and crusty and the egg was well cooked. The big plus was being able to add as much salt, pepitas, and red chili on the side. We also got pastries to go. Those were amazing. We got the olive oil pistachio tea cake, peanut butter granola cookie, and the cinnamon bun. As a local, I definitely recommend people come here for a great meal. read more

Came here for brunch on a Sunday. The pastries were pretty decent though I wish they were warmed up. Kouign amann was solid but a little doughy. Pistachio tea cake was tasty overall. The salmon croissant sandwich was decent but I wish there was a different bread instead of croissant. The steak sandwich was better but I wish there was more steak. Overall solid option for decent pastries and food, but don't expect to be blown away by everything. The atmosphere inside was great, so while I wouldn't write home about it, I would still consider maman a satisfactory brunch option. read more

Very nice spot for brunch and ln h near the Jersey city waterfront. We needed a table for 9. A few of us showed up early and waited and got a table. We felt bad for the restaurant since some of our group took longer to get there than expected. My iced coffee was very good and my wife got a special iced tea infused with fresh berries. Our group got various sandwiches, bowls and salads from the menu. I got the Papa's bowl which I greatly enjoyed. It was loaded with avocado. I ended up feeding a lot of it to a 3 year old who was with us. My wife got the quiche of the day and a croissant. Our only complaint would be that the croissant was very dry. It definitely did not meet the standards of the other baked goods that were served to the table. The service was attentive and the staff were willing to split our checks. So cute, so packed, such kind staff, and so delish! I'm literally making my way around the Maman chain in all my fave neighborhoods until I try every menu item of my desire. 5 stars for their cappuccino, americano, ambience, and baked goods! 4.5 for their avocado toast which somehow seems smaller in terms of serving size. Located in downtown jersey city with views of downtown NYC and the Hudson River, this location still has the quaint, country French inspired interior as of all the other locations. Service was friendly and timed well, and we were checked on a few times if we needed anything else. Sunday morning at 9am wasn't a tight crowd but it started to get a bit tight towards 10am. Street parking, with nearby parking garages and walkable. One private restroom which hopefully I might suggest they add one more stall because it can get busy. read more

The most aesthetic coffee chain in NYC finally opened their first Garden State spot in Jersey City Waterfront! Just a few blocks away from the Exchange Place Station, Maman debuted their first JC show by the Hudson waterfront. I was so excited to find this beautiful coffee shop in a neighborhood I love and this particular Maman store has a spacious indoor dining area with tons of tables and sofa seatings. We went there on an early Sunday morning. It was pretty quite at first, but then people started to come in around 10-11am ish. They have a wide selection of delicious pastries and all of them tasted as cute as they look! We tried their breakfast menu for the first time and fell in love with Maman Breakfast Sandwich- highly recommended! Had a veggie sandwich(Inga) here and it was pretty well made. Little heavy on the butter but overall had good ingredients with apple surprisingly being one of them. The place is on the waterfront, and has a cool hangout vibe. The only downside is the service was a bit slow, even after lunch hours. read more

Picked up a few pastries and I'm still drooling over it. I got the Pina Colada croissant cube, which is exactly what it is. I love how they infused the pina colada flavor into the whipped cream and filled it inside a cube shaped croissant. The pistachio croissant was my second fav. Flaky croissant filled with a light pistachio cream. So delicious. The last one I got was a pistachio orange olive oil cake. The cake was very moist. You have a hint of orange with lots of pistachios on top. Maman in the city always have the cutest interior and this one was no different. read more

Very cute brunch spot. It is right along the water front area. Parking: you must find street parking. We were quickly seated on a Sunday . The decor is to die for. I will admit they had a rough start when they first opened. Now that they've gotten into the swing of things, it's one of my go to spots for food and pastries in jersey city. It's so beautiful inside and I love that I don't have to go into the city to have mamans almond croissant. I was about to bring my laptop in to work during this time, but glad i didnt as they have notices saying this is a wifi/laptop free environment! i tried one of their spiced holiday drinks, i liked it didnt love it but they were able to add oat milk to them and let you customize as you wish. i also tried their pistachio croissant - which i LOVED! The cookie I was most excited for was the corn cookie and the chocolate chip also looked really good. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed by the black & white cookie because for some reason I thought it was a chocolate cookie with white chocolate chips, but it was actually just a regular cookie with black and white chips lol. The cookies themselves were really solid though. Nice light crisp around the edges with a chewy center without being overly gooey or underbaked. Definitely on the thicker side too, which I liked. Next time I'll have to try one of their espresso drinks!

One of my favorite parts of this shop is that their tea menu is all around the shop, right on their walls. So, you walk around the shop, look at the different teas (organized by type, caffinated/non-caffinated), smell them, and read the labels. I had a lot of fun doing this! Their prices are good and their teas are amazing. Definitely a cool experience!

I ordered an iced matcha einspanner ($6.95) with oat milk ($0.75) and loved that it already comes with a shot of espresso, so it was essentially a dirty matcha einspanner. I tried each layer on its own before mixing everything together and it was all really good. The matcha cream is the right amount of sweet and creamy and you can taste the matcha with just a hint of coffee. Since I'm a coffee fiend I added a bit more espresso when I got back to the hotel and it tasted even better while still keeping the matcha as the dominant flavor. Next time I would ask for less ice since it was freezing that morning, but on a warmer day the ice level would be perfect. Would love to come back to try their other drinks or order the einspanner again as a hot drink.

I approached the cashier, who was just standing there, to ask about my coffee and she wasn't able to tell me so she asked the barista steps away from her. He pointed to a cofre sitting on their counter, it had my name, and when I pointed out that I was waiting for my name to be called, she shrugged her shoulders and smiled like she didn't care. The coffee by now was not all that hot, I never tasted any rum or coquito flavor and felt I wasted my time at this place. What's more upsetting is that I left a nice tip for a service that was not provided. They couldn't even bring the coffee ti my table once they realized it was sitting there and they forgot to call my name. You can find better service elsewhere.
