Summary: Do not recommend and will not use again. Unsatisfactory cleaning. Poor customer service. In a commoditized industry, such as cleaning services, where one can go anywhere, customer service is what separates one company from another and drives customer loyalty. Unfortunately, I will take my business elsewhere in the future. Background: Hired Busy Ladies to perform a move-in cleaning on a new home. Authorized up to 4 hours of cleaning and would approve addition time if required. Specifically requested that cleaning focus on the insides of cabinets and closets. After providing instructions, I left the property and returned two days later. Cleaning review: The home had been partially cleaned and there were several areas that received a cursory, and not thorough, cleaning. The cleaners missed several big items including an entire section of cabinets in the kitchen (16 to be exact), sections of shelves undusted, and completely missed the faucets in one tub. I spent an additional 2 hours cleaning to complete the job they didn't do. Customer service review: I worked with the owner, Kelly, in an effort to resolve an unsatisfactory service. Kelly offered a $60 discount on future service. I was expecting an offer to complete the work that was partially completed instead of an invitation to reuse a company that has already provided substandard service. After some bad experiences with other cleaning companies I tried Busy Ladies. I've never been happier and my apartment has never looked better. Cat hair is GONE! Kitchen & bathroom are sparkling clean. The cleaning products are environmentally friendly and smell great. Nothing bothered my asthma. Joseph & Jackie were thorough, fast & efficient and are very nice people.. Even my high strung anti-social cats loved them. The price was reasonable too - and less than the other companies I tried. I've been a customer for about 6 months and have this team come to my house every few weeks for a full cleaning. I relied on them even more heavily when my home was listed for sale and I was doing open houses every weekend. These guys are extremely thorough and take great pride in their work. I was surprised to see them wipe down my wooden windowsills with oil after completing the job leaving them shining. Recently I have had the unpleasant experience with a small business that provides housecleaning. That business is Busy Ladies Cleaning out of Beverly, MA. The owner, Kelly McKanas, quoted me a price of $135 to clean my 4 bedroom, 2 bath home without ever seeing it to provide this estimate or doing a walk through with me. I decided to give it a go anyway. At first, things went well and I was happy with the job that they did. Miscommunication on my part did cause a slight hiccup in the cleaners getting into my home one week when I forgot to replace the lock box when we returned from vacation and they had to wait about 10 minutes for my daughter to get home to let them in. When my daughter let them in, they then asked her what they were supposed to be doing. This perplexed me as according to the owner they are so thorough and "get in every corner". Why then was her staff asking my daughter if she was supposed to clean both sets of stairs that lead to the second floor? I sent a text to Kelly, the owner, and asked if she could please call her staff that was at my home and instruct them on everything that should be done. Her reply - "they know no worries". When I told her that they were questioning cleaning the stairs (they are wood, not carpet) her reply was that they would have done them anyway and she was sure there was a reason for the girl to ask. If she was trained properly, why would that be necessary? She did not honor my request that she follow up with her staff. Also, if they did not send different people each time, maybe they would have known what was needed. After the first time they came and the house was cleaned so well, I thought we hit the jackpot, sadly service did not continue in that fashion. Two weeks later, I received a call from the owner telling me that we still had not replaced the lock box and I was "costing her money" by delaying her staff. I was fairly certain that it was on our kitchen door and asked if they had checked this particular door. My answer was that they had checked all the doors. I apologized as I could not be certain that this was not another error on my part. When I got home that evening the first thing I did was to check the kitchen door and there was the lock box. I took a picture of it and sent it to the owner and said it's been there all day. Obviously she didn't believe me as her next text instructed me to look for the footprints of the girls in the snow as they had checked all our doors. Luckily for me, the snow on the walkway leading to our kitchen door had not melted and there were no footprints to be found. I then sent her a picture of the walkway and said "obviously they did not check all of the doors". I did not hear back from the owner after this text. Instead, I received a telephone call from the young girl who was at our home earlier that day. She apologized and told me she didn't know that there was a door there. I told her that if she had cleaned the kitchen two weeks earlier, I was not sure how she could have missed it. But a bigger point here is that Kelly never admitted her error. She did offer to send someone the next day, but this didn't work out with our schedule. I said we would be ok waiting two weeks but she never gave me the courtesy of a response until I sent a second message to her to confirm this plan. Today I received a video from the owner of the same young girl at my home trying to enter the code into the lock box and not being able to open it up. The owner then sent a text that after numerous attempts with the code #### it was not working and they no longer would be able to continue service at our home. I replied that this was not the correct code and that a month ago (when we had neglected to put out the lock box) I had sent her the current code. I went on to say that two weeks earlier they had been unable to find the door and now they can't seem to use the correct code and this was my fault, how? I would not be nearly so angry if Kelly, the owner, had taken responsibility for these latest mishaps and apologized for their errors and for inconveniencing me. I let her know that I would be sure to share this on Yelp and her only reply was that she hoped I would not give them a bad review as they were a hard working family company and they had done me no harm. I too work long hard days and this is the reason I decided to hire someone to help with the cleaning! Good customer service would necessitate Kelly taking ownership of these past two weeks that they were scheduled to clean my home. She did not and should have been trying to make sure she didn't lose a paying customer. Clearly good customer service is not nearly as important as she made it sound when I first retained her services. Kelly was adamant about how thorough they were and stressed the importance of hiring a company that was licensed. I cannot stress enough the lack of professionalism associated with this company. This cleaning service has made my mother's life much more pleasant these past few years. She's been independently living at a large senior citizens complex in Peabody and I wasn't pleased with the person originally hired to clean her apartment. Things were clean on the surface but it didn't take much to find "missed areas." In addition, mom seemed to have a year round cold, something not experienced in her own home. Busy Ladies was recommended, and after speaking with the owner, Kelly, I felt confident switching. Not only has mom's apartment been visually sparkling on a weekly basis, but her continuous sneezing stopped. We realized she is allergic to dust... a problem happily solved after hiring Busy Ladies. My wife and started utilizing Busy Ladies Cleaning Service about 6 months ago and have them come twice a week. They are absolutely great. Having a short haired dog we always had the toughest time vacuuming dog hair around the house. They have been our savior on this front and get every spec of dirt and dog hair! I'd highly recommend. Busy Ladies has done an admirable job taking care of our home. We tried three other cleaning services over the past year and a half, and cut ties with each after a few cleanings because the work was always sub par. We're not particularly demanding - clean floors, kitchen and bathrooms. Should be standard, right? Apparently not. Other services spent way too much time on unnecessary tasks - organizing items on tables, playfully arranging beds, taking out the trash...all nice, but ultimately not necessary. We needed a cleaning service to help us clean our home, not rearrange it. Busy Ladies will do all of that extra stuff, but they seem to listen to what your priorities are, which is why they are the first service we have stuck with. As with any cleaning service, you need to communicate your preferences and continue that communication until they know your needs. We have a fairly good sized home, with lots of floor space, and the team manages to get it clean...which the other companies we hired could not; a point that baffled us. Shouldn't a cleaning service actually be good at cleaning? Busy Ladies is. One note about the cleaners who have come to our home. I have been home the past few times that BL came to clean, so got to meet the two people doing the work, and they couldn't be nicer. Thoughtful, professional and accommodating. Appropriately named business - they are too busy to clean your house. I made an appointment a week and a half ahead of time for a major cleaning before an open house, only to get a message 3 hours before my appointment time to tell me no one would be coming because people had called in sick. Wonderful way to run a business. Only after my repeatedly telling the person who answers the phone how they were leaving me completely in the lurch did they offer any sort of alternative, which was not at all convenient for me. So, thanks for nothing!! Edited to add: The comments by "Kelly" below are completely false. I never spoke to someone named Kelly. I did NOT receive an offer for a different team to come out at the same time. I was initially repeatedly told by James, "I'm sorry, but there is nothing I can do," and "Hey, it's not like I don't want your business. I want to make the money, but there's nothing I can do."Only later did James call back to offer to come out himself (1 person vs the 3 I had arranged) but that I would have to be flexible about a start and end time. This was not a reasonable alternative for me and I made other arrangements instead. When I called to tell him that THEN I was told that maybe they might be able to have a team there an hour after my initial time. Gee, maybe you should have offered that at the first phone call, instead of the 3rd. Poor customer service, poor communication, poor organizational skills. read more

I feel compelled to offer up an objective review after reading several below, and also being a small business owning-family ourselves. I'll state simply - sometimes companies have growing pains at first or while transitioning in new team members and while it is regretful and no one wants to be on the receiving end, in my experience I find it hard to not be understanding when thoughtful accommodations are made to the customers to rectify any situations where people feel like a mistake has been made. I also find it easy to be understanding when the work that is being done FAR outweighs any scheduling conflicts or miscommunications, not that I have ever really dealt with that, but it sounds like others have to some degree. That being said, this culture of "the customer is always right" has, in my opinion, led to a lot of people thinking they are owed the world, and owed it for free at that, when things aren't up to their sometimes or often unrealistic expectations. I am the mother of five young children and we also have a giant, hairy dog. As you can imagine, I need all the help I can get! We've been though several cleaning companies and I think in the beginning, it is my experience that there is always a short amount of "getting to know you" time where they learn what is important to you in terms of your cleaning priorities, as well as learn to navigate the ins and outs of your home - all while balancing that knowledge with the countless other homes they're simultaneously managing. Questions SHOULD be asked, bc not everyone has the same needs. The reason we've been through several companies is that the first two shut down their businesses and the last I actually had to fire (a first for me, because even after several months, she never seemed to "learn" what it was that we wanted done and continuously mentioned that she wasn't being paid enough to do things so just stopped doing them - even though the price was set by her.) We moved on and have been EXTREMELY pleased, as have the many friends we have recommended this service to. I do think that a level of patience is necessary when hiring any new service professional, just in terms of letting them get to really understand what your exact priorities are. But this doesn't mean that I think you have to accept subpar service, and I can say unequivocally, that is not at all what I have EVER received from Kelly nor would I expect anyone else I've referred to her to receive either. I think there are those that will come home and find a missed spot on the floor (you know, those ones that disappear when the floor is wet from being freshly mopped but show back up later when it dries) and will then go off the rails about bad service but people aren't robots, and having been in the service sector before, I know that sometimes customers can be too demanding to even be worth it. This isn't the usual type of review I'd write where I just go on about how great Busy Ladies are - WHICH THEY ARE - but only because I came on to review them and happened to notice some negative feedback below and felt the need to offer my perspective on the matter, for whatever that's worth. In life, sometimes things happen beyond a professional's control and if they offer a solution but it doesn't work for you or you're too angry to accept it, it doesn't negate the fact that they DID offer a solution, and it makes me sad to think a woman trying to support herself and her family would suffer because of such a thing. I will go back to my normal review style and say that I think they do a GREAT JOB! I have a house that is a handful to clean for anyone and I'm ALWAYS left pleased and have been for 2+ YEARS NOW. I would hire them for my mom, I would recommend them to friends, and I have. I just hope people realize it is a business run by humans and humans are by nature, prone to error at times, even small errors. Luckily, I have not had to deal with any from Kelly and crew so I do sympathize with those that have however from what i see below, it seems like every time, she always tried to make it better or come up with a solution and just because that solution was declined, doesn't mean it wasn't there. If you want a clean house and you want it done by friendly, trustworthy, kind people who always arrive with a smile on their faces, and who know your children by name and say hello to each of them and take the time to let the little kids pretend to help clean or ask them a million questions without getting frustrated like some can do, then this is the kind of company you're looking for. Perfection, in any profession, is not something that can or should be expected so it pains me to think that someone who has been nothing but wonderful in my family home would be negatively reviewed for not being so. But while perfection may be a silly thing to expect, professionalism and the best job possible is not, and that is EXACTLY what you CAN and WILL get with Kelly and her crew. I asked them in for a deep cleaning because my cleaner of 15 years got married and moved away and I needed a new cleaner. They sent 3 people who were at my 1700 sf condo for a couple of hours. They did a mediocre to poor job for which they charged $135 an hour, a total of $335. No artwork was dusted. I asked for baseboards to be wiped down and that did not happen. I asked for all doors around their handles to be wiped down and that did not happen. Since, I was willing to pay an hourly rate nothing was stopping them from doing the whole job. read more

For those unfamiliar with Airbnb; both the host and the guest are asked to review each other in an effort to help other hosts/travelers alike. Simply amazed! I cannot believe how fast and efficient everything was from start to finish- I was getting this as a gift for my mother who had been staying with me while I had a newborn. I live in Virginia and found this service online. I called on Monday and they squeezed in an appt for me On Tuesday. They came out to my mom's house and she has not stopped raving! They cleaned baseboards, picture frames, the whole nine yards! She is extremely happy with the job they did and will be using them again in the future. This company doesn't been deserve any stars let alone a review. My review is simply for the public. I had to confidence my boyfriend that it would be a huge help getting a cleaning service prior to our Fourth of July FIRST family cookout. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. The floors did not appear swept or mopped, the bathroom appeared half cleaned as their was still soap scum on the shower doors, the rugs were not vacuum, and the baseboards and walls were not cleaned (per request and confirmation). M boyfriend stopped payment on the check due to not being satisfied with the little work that they accomplished within three hours in our one bedroom (in law, basement three room) apartment until he could speak to James to rectify the incident. James stated he would not provide a discounted price but that we could use the service for one hour again for the original 200 price AND pay the 30 dollar fee for his bank charge of the check being terminated. Although we agreed to have cleaners come back for one hour, not much improved. Now I will be spending the next few weeks negotiating with my landlord to fix the hole that the cleaners made in my bathroom, which is from "previous water damage".. read more
