    Lemon Raspberry Cake

Holy cow! I just unknowingly spent $10 for a slice of cake. After my sticker shock at check out, I figured, ok... I love their sour cherry pies, and I'm sure that this will be just as good. Ummm, NO! It was dry and dense. If I'm going to slurge on calories, it has to be worth it, and this definitely was not. Tossed it after 2 bites. So disappointing and such a waste of money.

Ordered 4 dozen cupcakes for my daughters 8th birthday. She let me choose flavours then brought them to life. Strawberry cupcakes with daintily decorated lemon buttercream frosting was our selection and they were not only beautiful but DELICIOUS. I MEAN... dangerously tasty. Customer service was awesome. The owner is so accommodating and willing to work to give you what you want. The bakery is cute, clean, and full of deliciousness.

Blackberry lemon and their special ding dong

I've been wanting to go here for years! I've read it's the best bakery in Washington. I will say their selection was pretty underwhelming. I'm guessing they focus more on cake orders than they do selling individuals in the bakery. They had 5 different cupcake (lemon, lemon blackberry, peanut butter, vanilla, chocolate). 2 cakes (vanilla and almond). The salted caramel bites and their ding dong things. That's it! Not a big selection by any means and pretty plain and simple. I think I had hyped myself up a little too much. I got the ding dong and the blackberry lemon cupcake. Both extremely fresh, moist, and baked perfectly. It didn't blow my mind but they were delicious nonetheless. I'd like to go back and try a cake

Writing this long overdue review!! I was referred to Methia by my best friend because I was looking for someone that can make my daughter a unicorn cake for her 8th birthday. Before putting in an order we came to the shop for the mother daughter tea just to try the goodies. Everything we had were sooooo delicious!! I was definitely SOLD. Even though Methia said she's never done a unicorn cake before she was more then willing to make one for me. The day of my daughter's party my Husband went to pick up the cake with no problem. The cake was so beautiful that my daughter refused to let anyone touch it. We didn't get a taste of the cake until later on that night and to my surprise, it was sooooooooo Effing* good. It was shocking to me because with any cake, you either get a pretty cake that doesn't taste very good or a delicious cake that doesn't look very great. My daughter's cake was beautiful and delicious. It was so moist and airy. It didn't taste like we eating 10pounds of sugar. Another thing that I love is that Methia make her cake very high so for a 8inch cake, it looked like ALOT. We loved it. Thank you Methia!!!!

Oh man, did we love our wedding cakes! We learned of Sweet Life through our caterer who suggested that we call ASAP because it books fast! After some exchange about our vision, we had a fantastic tasting (we were delighted and stuffed when we left) and were sold! Methia put together a beautiful spread. We wanted a "deconstructed tier cake" with all different looks and flavors. They were all delicious and gorgeous! Methia also worked with me on including a Sweet Bliss (yum) for a guest whose birthday was the same day as the wedding!

The best part of the cupcake is that it is chocolate dipped like a Dairy Queen cone from your childhood!

Amazing Cherry and caramel apple pies. Wish they were open a little earlier though. Were sold out today but scones were good.

Please be prepared that they do not take any cash so please bring a card or applepay. When I went, I got a small scoop that I was able to split into two separate flavors: Passionfruit sorbet and the snickerdoodle. The Passionfruit sorbet was extremely fresh and crisp that it brought back to my times visiting Asia and getting passionfruit smoothies and ice cream. The Snickerdoodle was fantastic and had loads of cinnamon with snickerdoodle cookie dough bits. I took of a star because the seating is EXTREMELY limited. There is no seating indoors and only one table outside.

And they do run out of flavors. On a hot Sunday evening, near closing-time, the store was nearly empty. Thankfully, they still had my favorite flavour (I guess that blueberry sorbet isn't popular?), so alles gut! This store carries ice creams from a few local producers, along with ice cream sandwiches and the like. You may have spotted the brands in nicer supermarkets. It's posh ice cream, so expect to pay a premium price, but the quality is there. We're big fans of "dark elf" (dark chocolate with more dark chocolate), mint and chocolate chips, and the fruity sorbets.

It was out of this world good, as was absolutely everything else we sampled! If you're traveling through Kingston, don't pass up this little gem! First their baked goods are stodgy and not properly executed. Their shortbread tastes like cardboard and is nothing like English shortbread should be. No good butter in evidence here. Their koign amman is not even crisp on the outside. There is something off with each baked item. If you enjoy dump and go style baking that don't require any refinement but are full of American sugar, I think you will feel this is an elite bakery. Otherwise, this is a bad knock off attempt. Scones seem to be chewy and tasteless. I got a "lemon poppyseed" polenta cake where there was no lemon-y flavor at all! It was also heavy and couldn't handle more than 3 bites at a time. Stuck in the gullet. Second their service is appalling. The people behind the counter are all in on some inside ball game and customer service is not their emphasis. They are looking away while half-heartedly asking you what you would like, and more interested in serving up verbal repartees to their co-workers while distractedly trying to complete a sale. You can expect to repeat your order a few times. Then there's the off-handed use of bakery tissue which is not quite neat and hygienic. I mean it's a shambolic operation that gets away with it because there is no competition in Kingston unless you take the ferry across to Edmonds.

Take the humble grain bowl using Ukrainian buckwheat "Kasha" with fermented vegetables. With the expert "curing" of the vegetables evident by taste, and glazed with a lovely nutty sauce, it is both simple, and yet profound. Similarly a recent soup of tomatillo and zuchini, cut by black beans, corn, and tortilla strips both tasted familiarly Mexican, but also stretched the palate and feel healthy like all traditional foods. Menu standards like the fermented "kimchi waffle fries", are fun to eat, but each week she introduces exciting and ecclectic plates - once "rabbit" was on the menu. This is exceptional food, but not in the rarefied, experimental way of expensive haute cuisines, rather they draw on deep cultural food traditions. The range of flavors is much more sophisticated and pleasing to my palate than anything else I have tasted across Kitsap county. The sauer kraut chocolate cake? wow. The fermented hot sauces? Delicious. The gyro plate with smoked beet baba-ganoush, and the adjika (Georgian savory herb) sauerkraut layered with tzatziki is a virtual Berlin nightclub party in the mouth. You can pair the food with exquisite house fermented kvass or kombuchas. I highly recommend the "linden blossom" one which is a traditional Ukrainian taste. The chef's sure hand embraces cooking techniques and spice combinations from not only the well-known Asian, Indian, Mexican and Mediterranean spectrum, but also extends to the more unusual such as The Republic of Georgia --one of the world's oldest wine producers and known for its incredible cuisine and food culture at the cross roads of central Asia and eastern Europe. My only sadness is their limited opening hours from Wednesday to Saturday and only until 7:00 pm. This food truck is worth traveling the ferry to Kingston from the east Puget Sound.

We had seen it for a long time and been meaning to try, but being workers with a long commute, the early closing time + limited schedule just didn't work for us. When we did get to go, the $20 salads just did not satisfy. Dinner for two rang at about $65 and all and it's just really too high a price for what you get, especially from a food truck. This place is very heavy on the legumes of all kinds, and on pickled and fermented goods. It's really their "thing". This ranges from the more typical (pickled veggies, kombucha, kimchi) to the really odd (sauerkraut chocolate cake, and such). There were Eastern European dishes, which was cool. Others were Mediterranean. So, a bit all over the place. If you are not a fan of pickled and fermented things, I'd suggest that you pass, because there's nothing on the menu for you!
