After being so slow, They did give complementary desserts but they boxed them to go and rushed us out the door never offering them for the table. We just happened to find this restaurant online and thought we would try it out. We were staying at West Baden in French Lick for our anniversary and my birthday. It is about an hour from there. Just have to say well worth the drive. We had the BBQ-terie pecan smoked brisket, sticky chicky, Hoosier hot link, with house pickles, one slice of candy bacon, BBQ sauce, and cornbread for an appetizer and man it could've been our main course. Everything on it was great. We did get a main course and shared it. It was good too but for the life of me I can't remember what it was. Looking for a top notch dinner in Southern Indiana. We took a road trip from Louisville to Huntingburg, Think high end steak and bourbon experience with a hometown feel and unique atmosphere in an old bank. The steaks are perfect. Better than the city steakhouses because they are not overly seasoned. I am a fan of a great pork belly and this was moist and crispy without being greasy. For sides, the broccolini was perfectly cooked. The macaroni and cheese has a little kick but not too much. If they offer it, get the bread pudding! You only live once. Bobby provided perfect service. He was polite, prompt, but not stuffy. read more

We had such a nice time here for a lunch with many of the women in my family. I had the butternut squash soup which was excellent. And then the salmon blt with mini salad as the entree which was also very good. Everything had great flavor and was cooked very well. The ambiance and service are also great. By fine dining I mean attention to every detail: The atmosphere is beautiful, in a historic register bank building, beautifully restored, the tables are well spaced, the seats are elegant and comfortable. The menu is creative and quality. The service is attentive without being overbearing. Happened to see this place highly reviewed in Yelp while staying in Santa clause, Indiana for some quick weekend fun with the family. Took our 3 young adult children to eat here. There are not many places to choose from in Santa clause, so happy to make the 20 min drive for this yummy food. Kids got the Huntingdon burgers, I got the shrimp and grits, hubs got filet. All were really good. Started out with apps, did the bbq charcuterie, so good! (Smoked cream cheese app was kinda meh...tasted good but portion was tiny). Ambiance inside an old bank was very cool. We didn't expect to go to fine dining on the trip, so just wore our dressiest leggings and t-shirts (lol) and we didn't feel out of place. Fine dining for sure, was really great and great service, but didn't seem too concerned about your attire, which I appreciated. A gem to find! We had reservations and still had to wait 20 min. for a small table upstairs. waiter was really scatterbrained and ignored our table for most of the meal because there were 2 tables of big spenders on either side of us. we had to ask 3 times for a coke and my tea never did get refilled. dinner entrees were small portions and potatoes tasted like instant. the wrong bill was brought 3 times and the last time the waiter said if it is close and in your favor just pay it. Classy fine restaurant. I took my older brother to this new place on his 71st birthday November 15, 2024. We heard good things about it, and I had walked by it. It's a new place on the 4th street strip, which is a very atmospheric shopping area in Dubois County, and worth the trip for any visitors. Some local diners went out of business, so new places were needed. There is already one fine dining restaurant on this easy to walk, well lit, decorated two block area called Mama T, so this one gives the shopping area a real genuine atmosphere of class. The name is too hard to remember. I keep trying to remember the name, but even now I have to look up at the name of the place. There is nothing which one can relate "Butcher and Barrel" for the memory. It's a clashing phrase, so it will likely be called "B and B" some day soon. My brother had steak, and I'm not able to eat most mammal meat without getting sick, so I opted for the vegetable lasagna. My brother really loved the steak, and liked it more than the steak at Mama T. I thought the lasagna was okay, but not as good as Mama T. There was no garlic bread for lasagna, but that's okay. We both had baked potato, and they were very liberal with butter and sour cream. Next time, I will try salmon and a couple of veggie sides. Everything was fresh and nice, but just not as nice as Mama T for the lasagna meal, although it seems B and B specializes in the meat dishes. That might give visitors an inkling of which place to visit first, although I believe if someone has the time, to visit both of these fine places. B and B appears to please the meat lovers, and Mama T's the balanced meal lovers. There are a growing number of eateries on the strip now, for all walks of life. B and B is for the nice fine dining. The service is excellent, the staff friendly, the wine very good, and it's just a great place. There is also an upstairs area which I would like to sit at if I go again, because there you get a view of the outside, and the strip is very pleasant to view. I am very happy to see this place open, because it helps to make the Huntingburg experience something that may be a national treasure, although I would like to keep it our little secret myself. read more

I haven't dined out anywhere and had a better experience in years. Everything was spot on, from seating to dessert, I could not find anything to ding. The service was attentive but not overwhelming, very comfortable. The cocktail, I had the signature Old Fashion and it was superb, for an appetizer the Lump Crab Cakes were phenomenal served with a grain mustard aioli. Main course was a buttery perfectly cooked Medium Rare New York Strip that was seasoned but not overly so. Sides were a perfect, hot, fluffy loaded Baked Potato and the Strawberry Goat Cheese salad, perfectly crusted still warm goat cheese, ripe strawberries, cucumber and salad greens,(difficult to pick a star out of this meal but if I had to the salad would have been it). For dessert I had the Bread Pudding and it was a great finish to a perfect meal. My first experience with dark chocolate incorporated into a bread pudding, but it won't be my last. FIVE STARS! My only disappointment is that I didn't try this restaurant sooner! read more

This family run place has exceptional food! This is the best place to get a steak in the area. I had 2 cocktails, Hamiltons Sin Garden and Amish Astronaut, both were top notch. They have an excellent bourbon selection. My husband and I had the shrimp cocktail, 2 different cuts of steak and the crème brûlée. Everything was high quality. It's in an old bank building, the furnishings and soft music makes this a perfect date location. read more
