The ambiance was cute just like a drive in brings you back to nostalgic days. Service was 10/10 swift and amazing. Simple menu simple ingredients. Fries were amazing fiancé loved them said they reminded him of McDonald's style fries. We are a retired couple, deciding to eat at random fast food places and dropping a review. This is a first: We drove about 50 miles and wound up in dos Palos. We stopped at Butch's. Friendly girl took our order. She didn't hesitate to tell me exactly what was in the burger. The fries are amazing. I usually have to have ketchup but their fries were hot with enough salt and crispy n soo good. The burger is nothing special but it is good & moist. One thing we noticed-the paddy covered all of the bun. Some place have a surplus of bread. The service is fast. The outside looked too sunny (mid Aug 100+)no shade of any kind. After a long weekend of camping out at North Fork, my travel companion and I hit the road looking for a diner and a burger, and as it turns out, after an hour and some change, Butches was about the only blip on the radar to offer this. We pulled into to Los Banos excited to finally feast, and obvlivious to the fall-back time change that happened during the night, and we were on the verge of hunger induced melt-down when we it appeared that Butches wasn't going to open for another hour. The very kind employee, seeing the desperation in our eyes, took us in and to our delight offered to cook us up something simple, as the whole place wasn't up and running yet. We let her know we'd take whatever was the easiest for her to cook, and she replied with "how about burgers and fries?", jack pot. On the brink of annihilation came salvation. And as it turned out, these just happened to be some of the best burgers either of us have had in sometime. Thick, juicy, a dab of thousand-islandesque special sauce. it was perfect to get us full and happy and back on the road. The best place in dos palos for fried mushrooms, and slush puppies. The food is mostly burgers, fries, and sodas. The inside is very out dated, No restrooms, and to old video games from like the 80's. But food is good, staff is friendly, and they have soft serve ice cream, and milk shakes. For nearly $4 I ordered a basic cheeseburger with everything , ended up with a greasy tasteless patty that was 1/3 the size of bun ! The American cheese helped with the flavor due to the lack of salt, topped with shredded wilted lettuce, mushy tomatoes and chopped onions that were impossible to chew!
